Posted .Hello there, range is subject to quite a few factors so always make sure you have the radios transmitting on high with full battery - using channels 1-7 or 15 - 22, and try to keep line of sight to the other radio user. You should see at least 2 miles even with trees or other obstacles in the way.
Does not work on a cruise

They work fine if you are in close proximity such as the next room, but once you are one other decks they did not work. I even asked an associate and he assured me radios would be fine. He was wrong. Do not buy if you're looking to communicate on a cruise

Posted .I hear your frustration about the performance of your radios. Cruise ships are a challenging atmosphere because of all of the dense materials used to build the boat. These are all obstructions. The radios are also not recommended to be used out of the US. Please reach out to the customer experience team through support@midlandusa.com to discuss options.

I could see him in my mirror but we couldn’t communicate on a fully charged battery using high power using channel 20. What a joke! Can’t believe I paid 79bucks for this garbage… Sad

Posted .I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your Midland - X-TALKER. The range is relative to the obstacles around you. On an open field, or water the range is greater. Not worth the money

No different than any other lower cost radio. Just like other say if your out of sight on the highway it will not work in the hills of Virgina and WV. Same on trails or camping. Maybe at best 1/4 mile.

Posted .Please note that range is subject to quite a few factors. Best range will be achieved out-of-doors in open rural areas without obstructions, or on flat areas. The "up to" range is under optimal conditions over open water, desert, or mountain top to mountain top. Any obstructions between you and who you are communicating with will greatly decrease your range. This is true no matter which brand of radio you purchase.
Not suited for Cruise Ships

Good for beginners not great for daily use

We can also send you a replacement set that will work better for you. The T71 series radios are this Midland Radio employee's radio of choice but perhaps a different model will be better for your needs. Posted .There are many factors that go into the range. Line of site, hills, interference from power lines other radio bands etc. If you have any issues Midland support is available at 816-241-8500 M-F 8am-4:30pm CT.

Posted .As far as range goes, this would vary with the terrain or any obstructions that you might be in. It could be a mile or it could be more. If there are a lot of obstructions you could also get less than a mile. It truly is dependent on the setting and we while we cannot guarantee a minimum distance, we have tested it and reached up to 38 miles - unobstructed - with this radio.
