Suction on carpets is so much my wife say she is exhausted after using it for 10 minutes. She went over a section of rug with her Shark after using the Miele and the Shark picked up more dog hair that was left behind by the Miele. Over priced

This vacuum is good for hard floors but not rugs or carpets. Just not enough suction. If you have a big house or dogs, I would not recommend this vacuum. It seems very flimsy.

An indestructible vacuum you will want to destroy

Miele canister vacuums are great if you enjoy having hot, dirty air blown up at you. The exhaust is on top of the canister. The first time you use it, it will seem fine. As the bag begins to accumulate dirt, you'll notice dirt particles lodging into your pores, nose, and eyes. This is its worst flaw.
Less important flaws are the clunky design -- the parts you hold onto during use are cartoonishly large and plastic, and can cramp your hand after awhile. The dust attachment sits at an awkward angle and protrudes too far, making it difficult to use effectively. It takes extra effort to compensate for these problems, which is also made harder by the unnecessarily wide diameter of the handle. It is especially difficult to dust high places with.
The vacuum tends to tip over when you pull it, so you end up dragging it along on it's back or side.
To turn it off, you often have to kick the power button two or three times. After using this vacuum for awhile, you will want to kick it hard.
The power button and cord retraction button are easily confused, and there will be times you accidentally retract the cord while the vacuum is still running. After years of use, I still have to stop and look at the vacuum for a full two or three seconds to determine which button turns it off.
PRO's - excellent suction and durable build. Almost indestructible.
CON's - so difficult and irritating in use, you will hate it and secretly wish it would break to give you an excuse to buy a new vacuum.
I generally like to vacuum, but using a Miele canister has made it a very aggravating task.

Disappointing performance & accessories

Would not buy again. Has several power settings, only the max is of any use. Hose is way too short, with canister on the floor you can't reach the ceiling without adding the wand. Hose kinks at the slightest opportunity & restricts suction. Short hose problem could be tackled by having two hoses that you could connect end to end but the fittings are incompatible with that solution. The small brush attachment is "designed" to be set at various angles depending on use but fails to stay set & needs continual adjustment. The floor brush does not allow you to go more than a foot or so under furniture because the connection to the hose precludes the hose being flat to the floor.. Bag change is difficult. Bag full indicator is unreliable. The clip that holds the accessories is useless & falls of at every use.

The MIELE Compact C1 PowerLine is MADE IN CHINA.
So If you do not want a MADE IN CHINA vacuum that costs $400, do not buy this model.
