Minecraft is a game where you decide how you want to play. You can be in creative mode where you can manipulate the world anyway you want and create complex devices almost like circuits. In normal mode you fight monsters mine materials to build your own place in the world. I let my kids play this game as it teaches them about building and having vision to do things differently. I'm starting to get them into using redstone which allows you to build complex devices with AND and OR gates. The only issue I have with the game is that there appears to be add-ons you can purchase which can make the objects look a little better or different. Just as a warning this game can be addictive as it is more open with no quests only items to collect and things to build. I believe it does have an end dragon you are supposed to fight but I haven't gone that far in the game.

If you're into killing monsters for loot, finding treasures in temples, strongholds and caverns, having a free play type of world where you let your creative juices flow to build things to your heart's desire, then you may want to try Minecraft. I bought it for the PS3 and play it with my 8 year old all the time. You can keep creating new worlds and change up your character's look. And just when you think you've done it all, check online for tips and tricks and other ideas and you'll find yourself playing for hours and hours and hours on end, at least I did. There are different modes that you can play in too: creative and survival and you can turn enemies off or make it easy, normal or hard. So many possibilities and so much to discover. A creative/ explorer type of person's dream come true.

I have scarcely begun to learn my way around in this title, done a bit of mining, and started building, but I can see that it will be fun, and I can understand why something with such antiquated and blocky graphics has become such a phenomenon. However, it did not take me long to also discover that the price I paid for this title came burdened with certain limitations. The very first game-style choice I made quickly prompted me with a message indicating that I would be able to build, but not save my creations with that choice (the better-looking natural texture pack), until I had upgraded for a fee! I guess the model here is pay to play, and then pay some more! I'll give this title the benefit of the doubt for now, but I do not like buying a game, and then being dunned for more money before I have even really started to play!

Bought this game so the kids have something to play on PS3. I watched my daughter play the Android version on a smartphone and liked the creative aspect of the game but disliked that she was staring at a 4 inch screen for hours at a time. Now we can play on a large screen TV in the family room- so it becomes a much more social activity as now we can take turns playing. Though the game is surprisingly spectator-friendly, there is a co-op mode where the TV screen will split up to four ways to allow for multi player in the same world. Note that this feature will only work on 1080p displays so lower resolution TV owners will be out of luck. Other than that- its the same familiar Minecraft.

I grabbed this because I was curious. Well, I play it for a bit almost once a day at least! And my roommates are completely addicted too it now too! It's just fun to explore and build, that's what this game is about. You start simple and before you know it, you are planning on what to explore, what you need to find when mining, and what house, railway, or what have you that you want to build next. And there are no goals necessarily, you decided what you want to do. Honestly I've found this game to be very refreshing and a lot of fun!

This game gets low marks for story, challenging gameplay, graphics, audio because well, it's pretty primitive. I still gave it 5 start because it does what it does well, and that is entertain the kids. They love being able to build pretty much any structure they can dream up. They particularly love it now that it is on the PS3 and they can play it on the big screen TV instead of a small hand held device. If you are looking for a challenging next generation game, look elsewhere, but for good fun for the kids, this game can't be beat.

Definitely a great buy for children. If you want a game that teaches kids on how to make things this is the game for you. You do fight monsters at night but the game is more for creation. You learn how to make certain things from all types of different things around the world. Ex. you have to take and egg from a chicken, milk from a cow and wheat and put it in an oven to make bread. In order to get that oven though you must first mine stone and and clay in order to build it. The game has endless hours of fun.

I am not a very creative person, and never really had an interest in playing this game. I had only ever watched people play it. One day I was at RedBox with my girlfriend, and I had a free 1-day game rental. We were browsing through the games, and she saw Minecraft. I told her I had never played it, so she forced me to get it. We played it together later that night, and after about 10 minutes, I was in love with the game. I purchased the game from Best Buy shortly after. I definitely recommend this.

This game becomes addicting very quickly. It can consume time easily once player gets involved in mining and finding new materials to use and collect. It is easy to get lost in the mines and have to find a new way out. This game is for all ages but there is minor violence if you need to use animals for food, and if player is stuck out at night, the monsters will hunt unless they are killed. Overall Minecraft is a great game and easy to play for all levels of gamers.

Minecraft is a great game for both adults and children. It's a lot of fun to build your world, and frankly, it's a lot more creative than many video games on the market. It provides an opportunity for kids and parents to play together and it challenges players to think creatively. It may not have the excitement of some of the first-person shooter or adventure games, but it makes up for that with enormous variety and opportunities to build.

Let me just start off this review with how much content there is, Minecraft is a game where you can build your own world and pretty much do anything you want! I bought this game for my nephews and their ages range from 8-16. And they all play it! You can even play four player split screen but you need an HDMI cord, you can't just use an AV component. But overall this game is very good my nephews can't seem to stop playing it!!!

We already own Minecraft on just about every platform. I didn't feel like renewing my xbox gold membership so our boys could play together (we had 2 accounts). I decided to get the game for PS3 because you can play multiplayer with free Playstation accounts. Now all 3 boys can play together and have a blast. My son plays with his friend who lives in another state. My husband and I enjoying playing it as well.

I purchased this game for my 11 year olds birthday and he has loved playing it just as I thought he would. However I did not think that my 4 year old would also love it just as much if not more. He picked up the remote one day and just figured it out by trying. I was so impressed that what I thought I was buying for my 11 year old turned out to be a game they both could play together as brothers!!!

I bought this game as a reward for a good school year for my two boys. My youngest at first did not like it, but after a bit of coaching, they constantly ask if they can play. I enjoy it's a 'safe' environment, not bullets, blood, or knifes of other popular games out today. We do have to watch their time on the game, as they can get absorbed for hours. This has been an awesome $20 I have spent.

Minecraft sucked me in when I started exploring and I had to force myself to stop and play other games they may look better but could not hold my attention that exploring a new world and getting materials to build a home and so much more. I was late to this Minecraft party but it did not take me long to get why so many people love it even when you think visually it does not add up.

I don't necessarily understand the appeal of this game, but my daughter loves it. Personally it reminds me of a cross between an old Atari game mixed with some modern 3D. I guess as long as she's happy, there are worse things she could be doing. I'll recommend it, since it's a popular game apparently. Best Buy had a good price on it and we're not disappointed.

My 5 year old absolutely loves playing this game. We can easily burn hours once we get playing. For new players it is a bit clunky, as the directions are not very good. You really have to fumble around a bit to get the hang of it. Once you do, it can really suck you in for hours of enjoyment....especially with a younger child to play with.

I'll start this off by saying I'm not the one playing this game, but my 8 year old and my 5 year old love it. I've wandered in and seen some of the things they've created and it's amazing. On top of that, my 8 year old has struggled some with reading, and the interaction with the game has helped with that. So it's a win/win for us!

This is a fantastic game if you haven't played Minecraft on the PC. If you have, you'll know it's several updates behind. Other than that it seems great. My nephew recently played it and had no complaints. Oh one flaw that I remembered: On multiplayer/online there's no communication system currently in place. Gotta use signs.

My son was extremely excited when he saw the game was now available on the ps3. He immediately had to go out and buy it. The price was perfect $19.99. I like the fact that it is a four player game without violence and his friends can play together when they are here.
