Mint mobile is cheap, and that's about the best feature it has.
Even though it uses T-Mobile network, speed and coverage is much worse than T-Mobile. There's heavy deprioritization happening. I would barely get 20Mbps down and 2Mbps up if I'm lucky to get a signal. Mind you this is on a brand new 5G capable phone.
Oh get this. You get the same speed on 5G because of the deprioritization. lol

Had to check many other reviews and sites to make sure the phone model would work with Mint service. However calling customer service to help set up with a Google Pixel was quick and helpful, and so far the connection is reliable.

Good prepaid plan, strong cell reception being on the T-mobile network, unlimited calling, text and fast data. Just wish the plan came with more gigabytes of data for a starter plan.

The Mint Mobile three-month trial is honestly one of the easiest and most affordable ways to test out a new phone service without committing to a long contract. I picked it up to use with an extra phone so I could stay in touch with family while they were overseas, and the whole setup process couldn’t have been simpler. Mint sends everything you need in one small kit, and activating the SIM through their app takes just a few minutes. It walks you through each step—pop in the SIM, follow the prompts, and you’re up and running. No confusing menus, no long wait times, and no calling customer service just to get started.
What I appreciated most was how reliable the service was for something marketed as a trial. Calls were clear, texts went through immediately, and mobile data performed well for everyday tasks. Since I was using it specifically to communicate with family abroad, I really liked that Mint includes affordable international options and Wi-Fi calling. It made staying connected smooth and stress-free, especially when using the second phone as a dedicated line for check-ins and messaging.
Coverage was solid too. Mint runs on T-Mobile’s network, so if you get good T-Mobile service in your area, the experience feels just like using a standard carrier but without the big price tag. The trial also lets you choose from different data amounts, so you’re not stuck with a plan that doesn’t match your usage.
The three-month window is generous and gives you enough time to see how Mint fits your routine—not just a few days like other trial offers. For me, it worked perfectly as a temporary line, and I appreciated how low-pressure the entire experience was.
Overall, the Mint Mobile trial is a great way to test out a reliable, budget-friendly carrier. It’s easy to set up, has solid performance, and works especially well for extra lines or short-term needs like staying connected with family overseas.

Before I purchased it, in Questions & Answers section I saw that “You automatically get the 3 months free. After you activate service, the credit shows up in a few days on the renewal screen of your online account/mobile app.” (It is the current holiday sale) So I bought my new Mint Sim card (3-month plan) from BestBuy the day on December 7th. And after I activated this number, I found that it did not contain extra 3-month free plan. I then waited for several days, and it is still like this! I have called the phone number of Mint customer service and have also chatted with chatbot-open of Mint customer service, they all say I can only get the extra 3-month credit from the official Mint website… They said I should return the item to Bestbuy and try to get refund and then place a new order from Mint's official website…
For me, this is quite quite troublesome, and I am annoyed. Now I just feel like I was cheated… Can the Mint Mobile Team on BestBuy help me with this?
