    Super first impression!

I bought it today as a cheap replacement for my 350$ Garmin which was stolen and turns out...I like sooo much better than that Garmin! First off, maybe this is just a personal preference, but I do like the voice that speaks to me so much more than the Garmin's one that was driving me nuts sometimes! It just had that condescending and patronizing tone that I HATED...but this one is far more...REAL. Plus, you have so many options to choose from: 2 female voices and 2 male voices (as the US English only, but you could even pick the UK English as well!) so if you ever get fed up with one of the voices that's guiding you...you could just change it. I know I haven't had it for too long(I will have to get back at you in a couple of months), but I took it for a test drive Downtown Seattle (where my Garmin would just take minutes in re-calculating routes and turns and sometimes would even get lost itself) and I loved it! It reroutes you so much faster than a Garmin, and the Satellite reception is so good it even works in my apartment. The Points of Interest aspect is a pretty good one also. It instantly finds points near you, or by name, or by address, and comparing to the other one, this is done in no time! Having had a Garmin in the past it helps me compare the products really well and gives me a better idea on what I had then and what I have now. The bad part is that most people don't trust new products and even the sales persons will guide you endlessly towards more common products or bigger companies, like Garmin, TomTom, or Magellan. But if you get your Mio Moov, I don't think you'll have any regrets. For the price, you won't get anything better in its range, not even close!

I have been using this GPS for a year now at work. I absolutely recommend this product if you need the block number capability. It by no means is pinpoint accurate but it does get you in the general area quickly. There were two downsides I saw during the year so far: 1) Battery life went from acceptable to frustrating. It often shuts down after only a few minutes when it used to last at least 2 to 4 hours. 2) Reliabilty of this product has gone from high to high anxiety. The unit now shuts off at a whim and reloads/resets after 3 to 5 minutes 50% of the time it is used. In the past this GPS would lock-on and navigate after 10 seconds or less (even in a building close to a window). Sadly, I would not recommend this product for long term use due to the above mentioned problems. Numerous emails to MIO have yet to get a response. In about 20 minutes I'm out the door to go buy another GPS. I need a reliable product at work.

I got this unit after doing lots of research and using another MIO product on vacation. I am a little dissapointed in this particular unit...the maps are great! Streets are right where they say they are, even some brand new streets in my town are on there. What is NOT great are the address #'s. I've read a few other reviews that say the same thing. While sitting in my driveway (#1522) the unit shows me at #1684, #1546, #1538 etc (changes each time I come home). Driving down the a street and looking at mailboxes the street numbers are about 20-100 numbers off, and not always off by the same amounts. Locations are on the opposite side of the street from actual. I wrote MIO and described the problem and their reply was: "Thanks for the information, we take all information sreiously and will look into this. We WILL NOT INFORM YOU OF ANY PROGRESS!!!! (WHAT????) And if your claim is vaild we will make adjustments on future models or updates" !!!!! HUH??? Poor customer service I say!

I have had this device over a year now and it has worked wonders ...until now. I turned my gps on to put in an address and the device begain to respond to screen touches and I was not touching the screen at all. I turned the device off and reset it. This worked, I put the address in and it worked fine. This event happend a couple of times when finally, my device did not respond at all! The touchscreen has stopped working completly. I called MIO and did a hard a soft reset, nothing has worked but the MIO support was excellent! They answered all my questions and are very knowledable about thier products. I am not sure if my device just has a glitch but just a warning if you are considering buying this product. On the other hand, my mother has the 310 and she has not experianced ANY problems so far but, to be fair she does not use her device as much as I do. good luck with your purchase.

I got this unit the night before leaving on a week long road trip up and down the East Coast. "Samantha" - the name of the female voice option on the Mio Moov 300 - managed to get us to our locations flawlessly everytime - including some backwoods dirt road intersections that barely show on a normal map. When we tried to find faster/better routes using Google Maps and Mapquest we were unable to. I would recommend this unit to my own mother - and in fact already have! There did seem to be some weaknesses in the POI file - we were trying to get directions to the White House (as in THE White House in Washington DC) and it could only find the White House Dry Cleaners.... All the same, I'm not interested in having my GPS tell me where to go on vacation - I'm interested in having the unit get me where I want to go and this one did it in spades.

    Good hardware, bad directions

The main problem with this product is that it can't plot street addresses correctly. You can enter in the correct address, but it will put you in the middle of nowhere. Your chances of finding your destination using a regular map are probably better than relying on a Mio GPS. Which defeats the purpose of shelling out $150 for a device that's supposed to give you directions. Display is ok. Easy to set-up. The touch-screen interface can be difficult to use, even with a pen or stylus; almost impossible to type with your fingers. Hardware seems sturdy, although the suction-cup dashboard pedestal isn't very reliable. Often it will fall off during driving.

    Great hardware...Poor Software at best

I was motivated to purchase this unit mainly based on looks/price combination. But after using it during a trip to CT, I realized the maps/directions are not anywhere as reliable as they ought to be on a navigation system. When directing me to the hotel we were staying, kept saying..."destination on the LEFT" when in fact the destination was about 500 feet behind us on the RIGHT. It refers to the George Washington BRIDGE as the George Washington BROTHER. and could not find the aquarium in Mystic, CT when that is the biggest POI in the entire town! ( I did search by category and by name, did not find it either way) this aquarium is one of the argest in the northeast by the way, so the POI database is inadequate.

Great buy. If you want a easy way to get from point a to point b and back. Battery life is a issue if using outside your vehicle, but I only use mine in the car so it is usually plugged in. Very staight forward easy to use instrunctions. Pretty much self explanatory. Since I purchased my Mio Moov, I haven't gotten lost and thats money well spent in itself. One feature I am not happy with is the website is very confusing for downloading updates.

Think Twice Before Buying a MIO

After owning the MIO for 9 months, I can say that it has been good about 90% of the time. Locations in and around major interstate intersections will have you running in circles. The battery life is short for my use, too. My biggest problem is that the window mount hinge broke and MIO wanted me to pay $15 to have a replacement shipped. They gave some lame excuse about it's being after 90 days...so...back to Best Buy for a Tom Tom or maybe a Garmin.

As with all GPS systems, the touch screen and layout can be confusing at first (especially to non techies)
