    Great Sound, Needs Sub

I have been a Mirage Fan for several years. I am fortunate to have multiple setups in my home, and I chose Mirage as part of a secondary system. The system has grown to be a full 7.1 surround theater and audio setup. (funny how that happens when you like the sound. I use this speaker at all seven positions in my setup. (yes, including the center channel...flat panel is a wall mount above the speakers. This speaker has an excellent, transparent audiophile grade sound...equal to other speakers I have auditioned at higher price points. I have wired and cabled the system to use a sub woofer for both home theater and simple 2 channel music...I love the sound quality. These towers are NOT designed to make a sound below 56 hertz and they are linear down to only about 65 hertz. You will need a sub woofer to complete the sound for any type of serious listening...Mirage and Definitive Technology make several decent ones. You'll love the audio qualities of these speakers...just don't expect any real BASS from them.

I listened to about 45 pairs of high end speakers, and found that that the Mirage OS3 speakers were the best value for the money, hands down. I could only find about 3 pairs of speakers that had the clarity of these Mirage speakers, but they were much higher cost. Keep in minid that some speakers include subwoofers, but I found that those systems didn't seem "clear" like these. The subwoofers seemed to wash out the clarity or something. I decided to go with tower speakers without a built-in subwoofer because I wanted crisp and clear sound. I bought a Definitive Technologies SC-4000 supercube for the base, and I'm glad I set the system up this way.

I use a pair of these for movies in my HT and have no complaints. When paired with a subwoofer and properly set they can produce great sound. I should note I have them paired with their matching center channel. They disperse sound wonderfully throughout the room and there is not a bad listening position. And they look pretty cool too! Might want to get longer carpet spikes as a curious, and somewhat chubby cat could knock them down. As a two channel stereo for music they will be lacking in the low frequency sound.

Was looking at completing my set of Mirage speakers and was going to get the OS-5 satellite speakers, but once I heard the sound from the floor standing versions and the increased range they could produce I knew it was time to spend the extra money and make the investment. These speakers were replacing a set of Bose AM-5 series 5 that were like 20 years old, but still sounded awesome as the day I bought them. I figured a set of speakers every 20 years what the heck and drop the money for them. It also helped they were on sale.
