    Great Activity Tracker, but...

The Misfit Flash is a great activity tracker especially at its price, but it lacks many of the features and quality of other activity trackers. Aesthetics (5 Stars): The Misfit Flash is one of the best-looking activity trackers in the market. So if you are looking not only for an activity tracker, but a visually pleasing watch, the Misfit Flash is the watch to buy. Build Quality (1 Star): Sadly, the misfit flash, in my opinion, has one the poorest build quality among the famous activity tracking watches in the market. The watch is not fixed to the strap, and after 2 weeks of use it was already falling from the strap by itself. Activity Tracking (3 stars): The Misfit Flash has an activity tracking system very different to other watches. It contains an algorithm which converts any activity done or walking into points. These points are then accumulated in order to reach a "daily goal". The Misfit Flash shows you your progress on the daily goal and gives you a more in-depth definition of this in their mobile app. The one thing I did not like about this is that it only lets you set goals in terms of their "point algorithm" instead of allowing you to set time exercising goals, miles goals, calorie goals, etc. While it is a great product to get you out of your bed and exercising, it is a not-so-great product for athletes or people who want a more in-depth look into their work. Sleep Tracking (5 stars): Sleep Tracking was one of the main reasons why I chose to buy this watch not only for myself, but also for 4 other family members, and the first time I tried it, it worked perfectly. The watch efficiently woke me up in a period of light sleep 2 minutes before my set time. I noticed throughout the day that it really makes a difference how you wake up, and the misfit flash did a great job helping me start the day in the best way possible. Once I woke up, the Misfit Flash's mobile app, told me a more in-depth explanation of my sleep including hours sleeping and hours of deep sleep. I have tried this feature of the Misfit Flash 3 other times and it keeps on working like a charm. Mobile App (4 stars): The Misfit Flash's mobile app is necessary for the use of the Misfit Flash. Make sure your phone is compatible with the watch, as it does require a type of Bluetooth and an app that exists only in the newer phones. The app is really easy to use and navigate. The only error I saw is that in some way it always tells me the wrong amount of calories burned (There is no way that in walking a mile I burned 2000 calories...I wish it was true). But, disregarding this, the app achieves to do a great job communicating what the watch senses and syncing in less than 10 seconds with the watch

    Fun but pros and cons

I was excited to find this tracker as it is priced much better than most and other reviews rated it better than the higher priced shine. It is neat to see how often I wake in the night and motivational to track my activity. However, it is not without its flaws. First, the sleep tracker doesn't usually get it right...it generally thinks I'm in bed or sleeping (albeit not shown as deep sleep) much longer than I truly am and it won't track if you get up but go back to bed ( instead you get no credit for activity during that period). On the activity side, it uses. Point system that I don't quite get what they represent at all so setting goals is just a guess and I went with the recommended 1000. But it doesn't track anything as activity unless you physically tell it to or by some chance it senses a lot of movement. So, I've had very active days where I was up and down flights of stairs, climbing ladders, and generally running around like a nut but because I didn't tell it I was running or something, it tracked it like I was doing desk work or something. It also is limited on the activity it tracks...I do aerobics and weight training, generally p90x, but the only suitable choice is walking/running. And, I will generally have to stop my program to swap the watch from my wrist to my feet just to get an ok tracking for my fitness time. I also find it difficult to get it to turn on to track fitness...mine will start fine but seems to shut off Because of the warm up so it doesn't track my activity and then turns on again when I tell it to stop my activity which is frustrating. Luckily, if you're patient you can edit the time in order to get a better rating of your fitness activity. The catch is, and it's big, you must have an activity to edit in the first place as they can't be added and you must edit it timely because once the clock strikes twelve your done! Since I worked out a couple times at 11/11:30, this hurt me. I don't think it gives enough credit for the activity I do and I find myself wanting to turn it on as though I'm working out for just about anything so I will get credit for what I am doing. It is very difficult to reach the 1000 points which I don't get when I work out for an hour and a half to two hours and will be active through the day on top of that. The only way I've hit or surpassed it is to turn the fitness activity in anytime I'm expecting to be moving a bit so it will better count my steps, so it can be improved. But I know it will motivate me to move more still and guess that is the point. I find the social feature useless except comparing to my husband. And his tracking is different since I have an android and he has iPhone...it is better on one versus the other on some things then worse on others so both are have pros and cons I guess. Anyway, it is a nifty little toy to track your activity and help motivate you through your goals. Some app improvement would add a star or two but for the humps it does have I rate it in the middle...which is,likely great for the price.

I had researched many of the activity trackers and decided on the Misfit Flash - the little brother of the Misfit Shine. The main difference between the two is where there is metal on the Shine, the Flash is plastic. Both work surprisingly well; having counted steps and length of bike ride of another app, it was right on. The amazing feature of all these products is the ability to track your sleep. Fascinating!! When you sync with your mobile device it actually give a graph showing sleep and deep sleep; educating on sleep patterns, etc. Now the bad news! DO NOT LET IT OUT OF YOUR SIGHT FOR ONE MINUTE!!! The clasp band it fits into is very secure - however, the latch that keeps the plastic band around your wrist will pop off without notice - especially now it is long sleeve/sweatshirt weather. I lost it the first time just reaching for grocery sacks in the back of my van and caught it. The next time it came off I had no idea and was lost. I had written an email to their customer service about this and was told they were working on it. To their credit, when I wrote to say it had popped off again and was lost (after two weeks...) replaced it free of charge.

I purchased the Misfit Shine a year ago because it had a incredible battery life with its replaceable coin battery rather than the rechargeable trackers like Jawbone and Fitbit. I have loved the Shine but wanted to pickup a rubberized band for swimming. The store was out of bands but had the new"er" Flash tracker which came with a band. I knew the Misfit app made it easy to use multiple bands so I thought, "What the heck" and purchased the Flash for only $25. That was cheaper than what I expected to pay for the Shine's sport band. Unfortunately the Flash is not the Shine. I tried out the Flash tracker and after the first swim it began to fail. By the second swim it was done. The build quality was definitely lower than the Shine but Misfit never claimed they were the same. Maybe my unit was a fluke...maybe it is the norm. I can't say but if you are expecting the quality of the Shine...buy the Shine and love every moment of it. If you buy the Flash...get the extended warranty.

I thought I'd found the perfect fitness tracker & sleep monitor because it was so easy to set up and use! The problem is the wristband; I've had 2 to snap for no reason. I never did strenuous activity & never got it wet. The first one broke while I was walking into my room; I'd only worn it for 5 days. The 2nd one while I was sitting still; I'd worn it for 10 days. To add to the disappointment, I gave my friend one for Christmas, she loved it, and the band snapped after week -- how embarrassing! I'm going to try to exchange hers because she wants to try it again. The MisFit folks said they'd send her a replacement band also. I had my mom return hers before it could break. I'm not sure how the clip on holds up because I never tried it. But, rest assured that if you purchase this product with the intent of using the wristband, IT WILL SNAP/BREAK around the device casing within 2 weeks. Once MisFit delivers a quality band, I'd give the product 5 stars!

I was going to give this tracker higher rating, but recently swam laps in a pool with it and since then have had nothing but issues. It stops working, does not light up. In fact worked 10.5 hour day today, should have easily been a 10K step count day; yet tracker only picked up about 2500 steps. Misfit states that this tracker is able to go 30m under water. I was swimming laps on the surface, yes I dove in off starting blocks; but was barely under the surface of the water. I have yet to reach out to Misfit about this issue, but plan on doing it. Other than the issue with not working after swimming, it was great at showing my progress, and tracking sleep was great. I have know for a while now I have not been getting enough "Restful" hours of sleep, but this device has opened my eyes to just how bad my nights truly are. I do like h

This is my wife's review actually; it's her activity tracker: Repeated syncing issues are a pain, but overall, it's fine. I'm trying to get up to walking 10,000 steps a day. Haven't made it yet -- sure hope the tracking is accurate! I've only used it for about a month and was confused at first about whether I HAD to use my smartphone with it (I'm not very tech savvy), so I emailed Misfit customer service to ask about that. They replied with an answer, but didn't answer my question. When I replied to their reply stating that fact, I didn't hear back from them again. Thumbs down on their customer service! Note: I've purchased two of these because the first one I had slipped off a pair of my cotton slacks into a toilet! The second one works as well as the first one did, so I can at least say the product is consistent! BTW: You DO have to have a smartphone to use the device.

When I first purchased the Flash I loved that it could be clipped on or worn like a watch. I downloaded the app and it was awesome to track steps towards goal, how many calories burned, and my sleep patterns. I wore it all the time except when in the shower. Three weeks after my purchase it stopped working. I thought it needed a new battery so I changed it; that did not help. I contacted Misfit via website and they initially asked me for pictures of the serial number, and proof of purchase. It has now been 3 weeks of going back and forth with them; instead of replacing the defective product, they want me to troubleshoot the device, and then send them a video of me troubleshooting using their instructions. I just want a replacement! It's a great product when it works, but customer service is poor. For that reason I would not recommend this product.

My employer has a health incentive, in which I get paid bonus money to be active. I bought these since they were inexpensive to give them a try. I had a few issues with them not syncing correctly early on, but that was resolved with some software updates, and I haven't had a lot of problems since, aside from the app running slowly after an update from time to time. I had to quit using the belt/pocket clip because it is just plain junk. My wife uses hers with the watch band with no issues, but I carry mine loose in the watch pocket of my pants. It works well enough that I can't complain a lot, but I don't expect it to last due to the plastic parts. I do like that fact that it is water proof, unlike so many of the more expensive options out there. I may upgrade to the Shine when this one dies on me.

Misfit flash is a good entry level device that tracks your activity and sleep. IPhone app works great and I could pair app with device in less than 5 minutes. Here are the reasons for 3 stars: 1) Band does not have good quality. There was a smll crack in dial while putting dial in. I exchanged device in store. CSR accepted the exchange with expression that she is doing me a favor 2) device shows activity/sleep duration/quality sleep duration, but doesnot provide actionable insight (which I would expect from such devices - otherwise this is just a glorified pedometer) Here are the reasons for not giving less than 3 stars: 1) Easy to use 2) Pairing of app with device is 2 minute affair 3) fairly accurate steps tracking and sleep tracking 4) innovative way to display time 5) no charging required (a big plus over other devices)

I am struggling with how to use it. First of all, I can not get the mechanism to fit properly in the band. Secondly, still don't have the idea of how to use it. Directions that come with it are no clear because there are so many different languages squeezed together. Even the guys at Best Buy were having trouble explaining how to put it together and use it. I would think the company could take the time to explain their product to store employees. The only reason I am persisting to try to use it is that it is the only one I could see that tracked everything. If I can figure out how to use it, I will recommend it, for price and versatility. If BB salesperson could have explained the difference better, I would have bought the Shine, rather than Flash. Misfit distributor or regional rep needs to do a better job.

My first couple of weeks with my misfit, I was in love! Easy to comprehend app with accurate readings. That in addition to the fact I could sync it to my health benefits tracker (saves my money on my premium) all for a low price of $20 each? I was in love!!! Then after the three week mark, it would completely go blank for a few days, and now it want show me my progress or time from the tracker, only through the app. It's still syncing to my health benefits (which is the reason for the purchase) so I will stick with it for now. Oh and my husband has the second one, he had the same exact issues except he keeps getting a low battery warning even though it had only been about a month, and the battery should last for at least three.

I bought this particular item because it's designed for swimmers. I had difficulty getting it to sync with my phone. After set up it works pretty well with the occasional crash. Haven't swam with it yet though because the cheap, brittle plastic wrist strap broke when I was inserting the misfit. I need to go back to the store for an exchange. In order to monitor my sleep I have to wear a garment I can clip the misfit on. I like to sleep au naturale so I'm really wanting that wrist band. The wrist band is also recommended for swimming so it doesn't stay fully submerged all the time. Not as waterproof as the packaging claims. All in all it's fun to monitor my sleep and activity levels. I have found it to be pretty accurate.

First off it should be recognized you're getting what you pay for. It has nice features but lacks terribly on accuracy. I used this as a pedometer and sleep tracker. The pedometer does well enough, obviously not the most accurate, but the sleep tracker is borderline useless. I got up and walked around a few times one restless night and it read as my being asleep solid the whole time. But you're getting two frackers for a quarter the price of one of the others. At the very least it can be an aesthetic reminder to be more active and an approximate-time keeping watch. The lights are easy to read. Good luck getting it in the strap holder, that's a huge design flaw. Generally I'd reccomend it based only on price.

However! I bought it on the 14th and it is now no longer working as of midnight on the 21st. Also! Buyer be warned, the flash does not have the ability to track naps yet. It only auto tracks your sleep if you fall asleep between 8pm and 5 am. Not handy. They will be adding that feature, and the shine ALREADY does it. Now, my unit's probably just defective, so here's how handy this thing is. It comes with a wristband that's really kind of annoying plastic but not too bad, it feels yucky if you get it sweaty. The clip is decent also. It's a pretty good tracker for the price, I just wish mine worked.

This is a decent basic fitness tracker and I like that it does track sleep as well as steps. The bank broke quickly on the first one that I purchased, so I'm not going to say the build quality is great. The bigger problem is that the Flash doesn't snap into the band, it just kind of sits there. It works okay as long as you have it firmly on your wrist, but when you take it off, it it doesn't stay in the band and it's difficult to get it lined up properly so you can tell time with it. Still, its not a bad basic tracker and you could probably get good at handling it if you used it for awhile. I returned it and ended up with with a Jawbone UP3 which I love!

I bought this for my daughter to motivate her to keep active as school started. That worked. She really liked tracking and achieving her goal. The visual of the dots was fine for her, and she was adept at learning to use the app. However, the strap broke after just a couple of weeks. She was lucky to have noticed, otherwise would have lost the tracker. I would have considered it a fluke if the exact same thing hadn't happened to my son's. The clip on holder is made of the same brittle plastic, so I expect those will break soon too. Disappointing that it is the accessory that keeps the tracker attached to the walker that is the failure here.

In the beginning I loved it and was ready to buy another one for my mom. Then about 26 days after purchase the band broke and the device would forget my progress halfway through the day, restarting me at 0. Usually it would find my previous progress again but not always. Started using the device with the clip and like that better. Have to check my foot throughout the day though because it has fallen off 2 or 3 times; most likely I didn't put it on well. Company did send me a new armband, quick turnaround. Would not recommend it to others right now. If they fix the band and the firmware issues this would be a fantastic device at any price.
