I've owned the Flash for a couple weeks now. No issues yet with band quality or with the unit falling out. I do see, however how that might be possible, as many have complained. Here is my brief assessment. - Accuracy: so I go running a few times a week. It has been cold lately, so a few runs have been on a treadmill. With activity mode on, and set to running, the mileage matches the treadmill either perfectly, or within a tenth of a mile. Now that's a treadmill mile (a discussion for another day). I ran with it outdoors on a hilly road with a gps watch on my other wrist. I have come to highly trust the gps unit for 10 years, being far more accurate than any phone or app that I have tried. The Flash unit, again matches the gps with shocking accuracy. All it knows about me is height and weight, not my stride, leg length, or armswing distances. Perhaps I'm exceedingly average. I once returned a fitbit within a month because I could not get it even close to any other measuring device at my disposal. - Sleep track: again, not sure what wizardry they put in this thing, but it seems to never fail with sleep and awake times. Even a 10-minute wee hour diaper changing is reported as awake for the appropriate duration. *I do wish that it reported sleep patterns with better terminology, like rem and such, but maybe misfit shied away from medical terms for liability reasons. - Timepiece: I've seen reviews that rip apart this feature. By default it shows activity progress towards your set goal first, then the time. This order is reversible in the app. Which is how I have it set. The time readout takes a bit to get used to, but nothing cosmic. One press, then you have your time displayed in a second, with precision of 2.5 minutes (only displays hours, and minutes at the five minute mark). This is the second major complaint of the time function that I have read about (first being that it occurs after the progress meter). I find that for purposes of this device I rarely require time more precise than the fives. This is perfectly acceptable to me. - Price: I paid $100 for the very basic fitbit (which I returned) and it was very high maintenance. I mean, how do you get accurate whole-day activity tracking when it's on the charger everyday? (Sorry for the rant). The Flash I picked up at a retail store, not an overseas web store, on sale for $15. FIFTEEN BUCKS. After my dismal experience with the fitbit, I didn't have a ton of hope for the Flash, but for that price, I figured it was worth a trial. Not disappointed. - App compatibility: I have the Flash synched with a few apps such as runkeeper, myfitnesspal, and others. It seems to not yet be compatible with more native services like Google fit, or Samsung S Health. This seems to be an opportunity missed. But there are plenty of alternatives. The diet losgs of the working apps sync back to the misfit app, as well, giving a more rounded picture of health within the misfit app. I think the accessories could use some better, more secure design, if only for confidence that you won't lose the thing. But overall I am very pleased with the unit, and find myself relying on it considerably.

I picked up my Misfit Flash the first day I could find one in a Best Buy store, I've been eyeing this since the announcement. This is a great product for anyone who wants to track their personal activities without looking just like everyone else. The nature of the device allows you to stand out a bit, the color choices, the style (wear it as a watch or a clip, maybe a necklace if they release similar accessories). The watchband is made in such a way that it would comfortable fit me (a 200+ pound man) but also would fit and look fine on a smaller framed person. It is made of a plastic material which doesn't bother the skin. I haven't used the clip much other than to test it, but I can say that it held fine during testing. The Flash itself works great, stays into the clip and the watchband very securely. Paired with my iOS device with no problem and is tracking me quite while. I've already had one person stop me and ask about the device, even in the matte black finish it's eye catching.

Pros: -Cheap cost. I got this for $25 when it was on sale in January. The price for this can get pretty cheap so it might be worth waiting until the next sale. -Point systems. I love (this is my favorite thing about it) that the misfit flash is about POINTS and not about steps. You get a different amount of points of the different activities you do (walking, running, basketball, tennis, soccer, swimming, etc.). Steps can be inaccurate; in fact for most trackers they are inaccurate (even this misfit flash on steps is inaccurate). The point system balances that out and helps you worry about actually being active rather than taking lots of steps. -Recognizes different activities (knows what you're running or walking). You can program it for basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming, and etc. Also knows and keeps track of when you sleep automatically. -Heard you will soon be able to program this with your phone to take pictures and etc. -waterproof (I never take mine off) -blue tooth syncing (syncs w/out taking it off and plugging it into a usb). -battery lasts 6 months (just like a watch; you just have to replace it twice a year for cheap. Recharging other activity trackers once every two-seven days is a hassle) -lightweight, does not interfere with clothes and etc, and looks good -tells you the time through 5 minute intervals -wearing it as a watch makes it very easy -good appp to go with it -compete with your friends (this part is awesome) -comes with clip and wrist band Cons -Does not know when you are working out (lifting weights) -sometimes does not record your activity (say if you have it on your wrist and are pushing a shopping cart of a baby stroller, it has difficulty reading your movements) -sometimes losses data when you sync [happened 3 times in the past 4 months, but I sync everyday] -once you reach your goal and it blinks up, does not show you how much more you are progressing

My college aged daughter has been wanting to try an activity tracker- and I liked the idea of looking at my sleep patterns- so when I found this 2 pack on Best Buy I decided to give it a try. I have only had mine for three days- so cannot comment on durability- but so far am really pleased with my misfit. I found the disk difficult to get into the wrist band- and there was no clear 'click' to let me know that it was in place. It has come out of the circle once when I was pressing the button to check my progress- but did not fall out altogether. I have the band secured in the last hole- to prevent possible loss of the device due to falling out. It is extremely comfortable- but snug enough that I am reasonably confident I won't lose the tracker. Set up- was very easy- just downloaded the app from google play, set up my profile and goals, and I was off! The simplicity of the app is perfect for me- tells me all I need to know about my steps / calories / sleep pattern without being confusing. I had downloaded myfitnesspal previously to look up calories- and found linking that app with my misfit just as easy as the original set up. I use mine as a watch as well- it seemed a bit funny at first, but was fairly easy to get used to reading the lights. The only other app I have used to track steps is the SHealth on my phone. It didn't really work as a motivator as I managed to leave my phone on the table half the time when I took the dog for a walk or did other exercise. The misfit is on my wrist 24/7 and so comfy I forget it is there. It collects data whether or not I have my phone near by- and I just have to do a quick sync to see details of my progress. I can't comment on the water resistant performance too much- but I do leave it on when cleaning/ washing dishes and that hasn't been a problem so far. Overall, for the clearance price this seems like the perfect way to try out activity tracking.

Disclaimer: I am using this device with iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.1 Will update review as I use Flash more. The Good iPhone app is very intuitive Sleep tracking feature(Beta) is automatic Offers both a sport wristband and a belt clip in the box Offers a silent alarm that works well Lasts 6 months on before you need to buy a new cheap watch battery Well designed app Sleekly designed product So comfortable you can forget it's there LED dots display readout of your progress Uses Bluetooth LE Water-proof to 30 meters Design allows it to be worn in a unique variety of places Sport-band easily adjustable to fit any size wrist Activity Tracking(Beta) is easy to use The Bad The Misfit app doesn't sync in real-time LED time display can be difficult to understand Sleep Tracker feature(Beta) only works if you sleep at night(I work graveyard shift) There is no indication you have seated the tracker in the band The Ugly Nothing ugly about this product! Recommendation: I would recommend the Misfit Flash to anyone wanting an entry-level fitness tracker on a budget. Its more expensive predecessor was excellent and this tracker has the same features with a better price-point. If your fine with plastic this is the fitness tracker for you.

This is actually my second Misfit product in 1.5 months. The first one I purchased, the Shine, broke after a week. (Somehow, the pod managed to come apart and I lost the back half - you know, the part with the battery.) So I purchased the Flash as it was cheaper and I liked the fact that it was a thicker pod, hence the less likely I'd be to lose it. One thing I did not like is that the band is "sportier" than the Shine. It is not a particularly sophisticated look - in person, the band looks like cheap plastic. But I like that the pod is a push-button and not tap activated. I really like the ease of the app and the information it gives (though, honestly, still not sure what to do with the Sleep Tracking information...) But, after a little over a month, the band snapped. I haven't yet had a chance to get back to Best Buy to see if they'll replace, but I am disappointed in learning that the plastic that looks cheap, is in fact, cheap. I suppose as this model is on the lower end of the Fitness Tracker cost scale, you get what you pay for. I'd still recommend it as a whole, as I like the app and it is easy to use and fairly comfortable. I just wish perhaps they'd upgrade the band a little.

The flash may not have all the functionality of the more expensive activity trackers, but at this price, it's great. You can tag certain activities, tag sleep cycles, wear it on your wrist, waist, ot pretty much anywhere you want. Its waterproof (I suggest not going swimming with it, but getting it wet while waahing my hands hasnt broken it). The smartphone companion app is ok, nothing great but simple to use. It's a great way to encourage you to move around more as you check your progress throughout the day, and it syncs easily to your smartphone to keep records. My wife and I compare our activity levels at the end of the day for a little friendly competiton which has resulted in our dogs being taken on longer walks so even the dogs have benefited from this purchase! ISSUES: My flash did have a problem with activating (as if I pressed the button) randomly, sometimes every few minutes, but I took it into a best buy store and got it traded out without any problem and the new one works great. My wife's has a syncing issue where it occasionally doesn't sync properly and loses all the unsynced data. So out of 3 flashes we've had, 2 have had issues. Other reviews that almost convinced me not to but this talk about the cheap wriststraps breaking easily and while they do look/feel cheap, so far we haven't had any issues with the straps breaking,

A LOT of my friends have Fitbits and have been complaining about charging issues and accessories just not meeting up to expectations... After a lot of consideration and having been in the market for a while I pulled the trigger on this one because it was on sale and I had enough reward dollars to cover the whole cost... PLEASANT SURPRISE ...this little thing is actually way better than I thought! The watch function is a total homage to Swatch and I LOVE that! When I can't wear it (volleyball) I either put my tracker on the clip or in a pocket. The fitness tracking function, while I don't have a whole lot to compare it against, works just fine for me. You download the Misfit app and set your preferences and just like that it works. There's been a lot of shade thrown on which updates work or don't work with sync-ing, but I sync up just fine. There's a social atmosphere on the app, but beware who you friend, you can't "un-friend" them just yet. Perhaps a feature coming soon??? Other than that, it's a sleep tracker too, and you can initiate activities or it'll just track steps all day, and you can record activity when you forget or can't wear it... Overall, VERY HAPPY and wish I'd scooped up more to buy as gifts...

My husband purchased the Misfit Flash for me as an anniversary present. After purchasing it, we discovered that my phone was not compatible. After fixing that issue, the Flash worked great; that was until I went swimming with it. The first time in the pool, the seal didn't hold and ruined the Flash. I returned it and got another one. It worked great, until I accidentally dropped it from hip height. I had it clipped on a pair of capri pants and hit it with my thumb when I slipped on my full length pants. It went back for another Flash, which also worked great. That was until it fell out of my pocket. It was actually dropped two times before it quit working. I'm now on my 4th one and thus far I have kept it on me the entire time. I really like the app and having it look like a watch is nice because I forget it is there sometimes. If it was more durable I'd give it five stars. I think for the price it costs, it is a great addition to my life. I can swim, bike, play tennis and exercise with it and it does a good job of keeping track of all my activities. If you purchase this item, be careful to not drop it on a hard surface, and get the Geek Squad protection on it to be safe.

    Device Works, Band is Flawed

So first off the device works pretty good. Although there are some complaints I have. I have gone through 3 bands already and 2 trackers. All the bands that break, break in the same general spot. It's usually on one of the arms that connect to the center. I don't know if there is too much stress when the tracker is inserted? But each band breaks on the corner edge where the center and arms connect. I also lost a tacker when I went swimming. Everything I read said it was meant to track swimming and could be worn in the water. I wouldn't believe that. I tried it swimming at the local pool for maybe 15 minutes, didn't dive or anything with it and it ended up dying. I took the back off and the insides had plenty of water inside. So I would say the claim at being waterproof is false. Other than the band breaking every couple of months (they send a free replacement) and it not being waterproof (they also sent a replacement tracker), I love the Misfit tracker. Cheap, but gets the job done and has a pretty good app and also syncs with plenty of other apps.

This is a very solid entry level activity tracking option. In my opinion it works very accurately for step tracking, and provides a reasonable estimate of basic sleep metrics (total time and "restful" time). The form factor is perfect for someone who doesn't want to wear a wristband at all times and was one of my deciding factors in making the purchase. The belt clip works effectively for my day to day needs, and it is very easy to then slip the device into the wristband for nighttime (sleep tracking) use. This may not be quite as aesthetically pleasing as the metal Misfit Shine, but it is by no means unsightly or "cheap" looking. The only minor issues I've found are both sync related. The setup to sync the device data with MyFitnessPal is a bit more difficult than with other trackers, and the MyFitnessPal app sometimes needs to be reloaded in order to refresh the data. The Misfit app itself occasionally has problems syncing (presumably due to distance from the device), but this is easily rectified by simply syncing again.

I've had the Misfit Flash for over a month now. I read all of the reviews first that said the band had broken quickly, but I figured for the sale price, I'd give it a go. I haven't regretted my purchase at all. This is a great beginner tracker. I use both the clip and the wristband and both have held up with no issues. I work with dogs, so this has been jumped on, knocked about, scratched at, and it's gotten wet, and I haven't had a problem with it. I took it swimming in the springs with me one day. The tracker and wristband were completely submerged, and it worked flawlessly! It does help to keep me motivated and to get me to move more. The app works great. You can customize the look, compete with friends, check your progress toward your goal, and check your sleep quality. The app also integrates with MyFitnessPal, so you can keep track of your calories and it also writes your exercise to the MFP log. I eventually do want to upgrade to a more advanced tracker, but I'm very happy with this one as a starter tracker. It has exceeded my expectations, and I enjoy using it.

I was looking for a fitness fracker and sleep monitor. I was really curious about how much sleep I was getting. This does the trick for a fraction of others like it. It was very good at telling me deep and light sleep, and I feel it accurately tracks my steps each day. I like that it sets goals for you based on your activity. My only disappointment was that it says it's water resistant to 40 meters. It is NOT. I tried swimming with it and it ruined it. If they could get that fixed, it would really be about perfect! It does not track your pulse or heart rate. You will also need to download the free app. The app is compatible with the My Fitness Pal App, too. I recommend the black version. The white one shows too much dirt.

I've read a lot of reviews showing how flimsy the bands are and I have to say that they do seem a little fragile, but I have had mine for a week and I haven't taken it off and the one thing I can say to people is BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR STUFF and it won't break! I've slept with it, ran with it, wrestled with my 95 lb American bulldog with it... Just be careful! The only complaint I have is that sometimes the app is difficult to deal with and one night my sleep wasn't detected because I only got 2 hours of sleep. I haven't figured out how to change my sleep period on the app after I did it the first time. Oh. It's cool how it automatically detects me running. It's pretty close on the distance too. I ran 3.1 miles and it registered 3.2. That's pretty good in my book. So I'm happy with it (so inexpensive) but those small things keep it from getting a 5.

Got one MISFIT FLASH for Christmas 2015 (black Friday buy)- really like its design but found out later it may have been faulty. I had Battery and connection issues. When trying to change battery I ended up breaking it. I was about to give it up until I saw the price to get two of them was affordable... I thought I would give it one more try. I am glad I did. I have had zero problems with it (unlike the first on I bought). It restored my faith in the product and I realized I must have gotten a dud a Christmas time. I also have a spare (since I got 2 for 1 price) to share or keep. It is cheaper than others fitness trackers, but it does work...so you have to realize you may get a dud. Just make sure you check it out real good during the warranty/return policy time frame.

Really this review would be a 5 star review, however since this is a newer product it is not without bugs. I personally have the Misfit Shine and expected the experience with the Flash to be the same. It has for the most part been the same, but some bugs we have encountered, occasional disconnects from syncing which require the flash the pressed until its lights run in a circle and then pressed again till the lights run in a circle once more. After that it syncs fine again, but for a new user this becomes very worrysome thinking it has not tracked your activity. We have also had a strange occurrence where it just stopped auto-tracking sleep and a few days later started again. So again yes it is a nice, and a much more affordable price to own a Misfit Wearables product, but be ready for some bugs to happen till they update something.

I was using a cell phone app to keep track of my jogging/walking for a few years until I got the FLash for Christmas. Now I can still listen to my music and keep track of my steps and distance without using up all my cell phone data plan minutes (with a family of five, I try to conserve data). The Flash is pretty simple and does not have the fancy GPS like my free phone apps (sometimes you just want to post your jog as a map online), but I can wear my "watch-like" Flash all day long and it keeps tabs of what I do. I just need to stay aware that any hand movement counts as a step.. just typing this, I'm sure I just recorded a good workout. But if you're looking for cheap, ease of use (the app is simple to look at online or with phone), this is for you. :)

This is a very lightweight fitness tracker that AUTOMATICALLY tracks your sleep, you don't have to recharge it, and is waterproof; so you can shower, swim or sleep with it and you forget it's still on your wrist. Having said that, it does a good job of keeping me motivated throughout the day with it's "progress lights." It takes a while for you to set up the little disc upright on the watch or clip, but for such a cheap price, I'm okay with that, specially since you get used to it afterwards. Note: The worse thing about the tracker is not the item itself, but rather the Misfit Apps, which are somewhat oversimplified. If that doesn't bother you (or if you have other apps you can sync this with) then this is definitely a tracker worth trying out.

This is a cheap way to fo learn if you enjoy wearing a fitness tracker every day. It comes with a sports wrist band and a plastic clip that can be attached to a shoe while running or work under your clothes. I found it comfortable attached to an undershirt and it isn't noticeable even in dress clothes. Tracking is slightly more accurate wearing on your wrist but I would recommend upgrading to the alumnium Misfit Shine product if you plan on wearing on the wrist for aesthetic reasons. Occasional syncing issues with the iOS app made me knock a star off the review but the app is fairly stable and has some basic food tracking options caked in as well. Overall a good fitness tracker and built in smart button ability and integration with IF is a plus.
