I was hesitant to buy the Ray because I don't carry a smartphone and wondered if it would work without regular syncing. Turns out it works beautifully with my iPad and not syncing often seems just fine.
The best things about the Ray, in my opinion:
- it is comfortable to wear. I hate wearing watches because when I work at the computer all day the watch bands irritate my wrists. The slim band on the Ray is very comfortable even with extended typing. It also dries very quickly after the shower without needing to take it off and dry it manually.
- it looks good. I'm not sure why so many trackers look look like glorified rubber bands with a tiny screen, but they do. I went to the store thinking I'd get the gray model (I typically don't like rose gold). However, at the store the rose gold is more of a coppery-brass color with a slight tinge of pink and I love it. I've gotten lots of compliments. It is definitely gender-neutral and I feel very comfortable wearing it.
- the fact you don't have to charge it! I used to have an Apple watch (when I used an iPhone) and I found it so annoying to remember to take it off and put it on every morning due to the requirement to charge. I then bought a Pebble Time watch and liked it quite a bit other than it was uncomfortable to wear and the charging was just almost as bad as the Apple watch. Knowing I can literally just keep the Misfit Ray on my wrist for 3-4 months without having to remember to charge it is so freeing and makes for a stress-free way to track. It's also very comfy to wear while sleeping.
- I really like that it is minimal and simple. Just tap it twice and you'll see how far along you are on youe activity during the day. I cycle now and then and thought I'd use the three-tap option to turn on cycling tracking, but that was too easy to accidentally turn on in my experience and they recommend you put it on your shoe for this which isn't something I have tried.
Overall, I'm really happy with my misfit and hope the company does well and succeeds.

I wear it more as jewelry... I use my Samsung S8 with the fit app for tracking my steps.
