Customers express satisfaction with the Leaf 50 Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna's reception, picture quality, ease of use, and range. Many also praise its ease of installation and the number of channels it receives. However, some customers note inconsistencies in signal strength and suggest that optimal performance may depend on antenna placement. The antenna's compact size and price point are also frequently cited as positive aspects.

Good but no silver bullet

The antenna delivers a performance boost when compared to non-amplified antennas, but can't perform magic! It seems weaker for stations on VHF frequencies as opposed to UHF frequencies. It's light weight and size makes it easy to try in lots of locations when looking for a good signal. I've used the antenna in an area with line of sight to antennas on a mountaintop about 35 miles away with good results (except weaker on the one station on a VHF frequency, as noted). I also have used it in a more wooded area with primarily weak stations in the area. It does a good job of pulling in one station that is kind of marginal with other amplified antennas (largely due to the flexibility in being able to position it). It doesn't magically bring in the very weak stations co-located on the same tower as the marginal station, though.

Easy to install, great range and perfect picture quality. We had to place it on the opposite wall from the tv top get the best picture, so now we have a long coax cable running the length of our living room. Still better than paying cable

I refuse to lowball the ratings because I could not get this to work. I purchased this based on the rave reviews that I read across the web. I was looking for an indoor antenna as I am trying to avoid purchasing a larger outdoor antenna.
Most of the TV stations in my area are apparently VHF signals and I just couldn't get the stations 23 miles away to pick up Channels 4, 5, 7, 9, etc... wouldn't work. This antenna is designed for UHF signals. It will pick up a VHF signal.
I had it in my window, up high to get the best signal, but it wouldn't register any stations. I took it upstairs (second floor) and it also wouldn't pick up signals. I did take the antenna to a friend's house and was able to pick up one of the three stations in their area. Thus, I was able to confirm that the antenna worked.
The design is great, easy to put together. I just do not recommend it for someone with primarily VHF signal range stations.
Also, I purchased this off of Bestbuy.com with delivery to my house. I had zero issues returning it to my local Bestbuy store. Therefore, I recommend it to a friend, because it's worth trying if you're in the market for an antenna

Picks up about 20 stations; must be mounted high

Picks up about 20 stations. In bad weather, pixelation occurs often. Needs to be mounted high up. Our house is on a slope and when I had it mounted in the downstairs room (well below high point of our lot, but near or on a window), I got very poor connectivity-dropped out every few minutes. Have had to run a line up the stairwell (for now) and mount it as high as possible. Now reception is good for most stations, though PBS is still a tough station to bring in without occasional pixelation. Recommend, with reservations.

Mediocre Signal - Spotty Performance

The Leaf 50 is a thin, attractive antenna that's easy to hide. The USB power option for the amp is great. However, I get a mediocre signal and spotty performance living inside the city limits only 10-15 miles from our local broadcast towers. I imagine line of sight obstructions and broadcast signal strength are factors. Keep those in mind when expecting a true 50 mile reception radius with this antenna. It probably won't happen.

Must have for local channels!

After finally cutting the cable and purchasing a Fire Tv box to catch my normally watched cable network stations, I needed a way to catch my local stations to catch all my Sunday football games. This product is very easy to set up. After positioning it in different locations around the room, which will take only several minutes. I found the perfect spot. I was able to catch 32 channels with just this paper thin antenna. Easily catches ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. The reason for giving it 4 stars is that I don't feel it lives up to the 50 mile range. Stations at that range, don't catch a strong enough signal. I would say any towers within a 40 range, you will be able to catch. Overall a good product as I was just concerned with catching my local channels. That it will do

NO LONGER PAY MONTHLY CABLE FEE, ANTENNA IS GREAT QUALITY - USED THE RABBIT EAR ONE IN THE BASEMENT FOR BASIC CHANNELS, THE BIG FLAT WHITE PANEL ONE FOR LIVING ROOM. THAT AND APPLE TV AND 1000'S OF SHOWS TO WATCH AND NO MONTHLY CABLE FEE!!! DON'T EVEN NEED NETFLIX!

I bought this antenna with the Roku which Best Buy had as a package deal at a good price. I purchased it for my father who lives in Florida and was tired of paying high prices for Direct TV. He is very happy with both and is now happily watching TV at a much lower cost. There is no cost using the leaf and he is able to get 5-6 local channels with very good reception. The monthly cost is for Roku and Netflix, but again he is getting a great picture and watching shows for much less per month. The leaf also has a website so you can put your zip code in and see how many channels you should be able to get.

Easy to install and hook up. I was surprised to get over 50 channels this far from Denver, however some are too weak for digital recording. Still helped in cutting the "cable."

I purchased the antenna as a first attempt to use over the air HDTV. It was an easy setup and everything was packaged well. I especially liked the thin design of the antenna. The antenna worked well the first day, but the next day when the storm rolled in, more than one channel was unable to be viewed because of a weak signal. I suspect because of my location, I am going to have install and outdoor antenna. The sales member at Best Buy had warned me this might happen, so I don't believe it is the products fault.. If I was closer to the stations, I believe this antenna would have worked well.

This is a good product but you must position this antenna as close as possible near a window or in the window to get the best result. Other wise You will not be a fan of this BB product to say the least. Because for the price of this attenna You can go to Your nearest discount store and buy a simular product for about $10.00 dollars and be very happy with the product again as long as you place it by or in the window. The BB product is approximatley $60.00 dollar where BB has a much better product for almost the same price. I guess it comes down what Your planning to use this product for and how much money do You really want to spend at BB or any other store. But if it is for a 2nd TV in the kids room or where ever you can save $50.00 bucks in purchasing a similar product at Your local bargin discount store... For Sure....

Perfect Antenna for Digital Channels

The Mohu is a great non-obtrusive antenna for picking up digital channels. I loved it's slim design and like that you are given the option to display the white or black side depending on your situation. I found that it didn't work that well on interior walls and picked up for channels near outside walls. The range is pretty decent and gets me about 30 channels given that I am 30 miles from a major city. Setup is real easy but I would suggest to most people that you try the antenna without the amplifier first as I found the amplifier interfered with the reception.

I initially had a Mohu Metro which was smaller and covered a shorter distance. Hoping to get a stronger signal and more channels, I tried this one. But I didn't get anything more, even though my broadcast towers are within this antenna's range. I think the location of the apartment (basement without clear line of sight) has more to play than the antenna. I would suggest trying the smaller Mohu first and then trying it's bigger brother with amplifier later.

So I had an antenna, a big ugly old one. I didn't want that in my TV room so I bought this. I bought at the same time a Tablo OTA DVR Lite. I realized after I bought that I could put it anywhere in the house. I tried the Mohu and the old rabbit-ear-with-a-big-round-centerpiece side by side. The tried-but-true-but-unsightly won, by only a small margin; since no one can see it where it is, I returned the Mohu. It's good, just not quite good enough in my case.

After spending way too much time on the phone with cable customer support trying to get my bill lowered every time they raised it, I was fed up and cut the cord. Did my research and went to buy this antenna the same day. I had it installed and was watching local channels within about 15 minutes. My goal was the basic 4 channels, but I get many more than that. I installed the antenna above a window behind my tv, and the white side of the antenna blends nicely with my white walls. Very happy with this purchase.

I live in the suburbs of a major city. I get 26 of the 27 channels the guide promises. Fox and NBC or crystal clear (better than cable). If you are serious about getting rid of cable, check the MOHU website and they will tell you which channels you should receive with this antenna. I would definitely recommend this.

Easy set up. Works best by a window versus hanging it on the wall. Over time, the adhesive wears off after moving it around to adjust the signal which you will have to do. I receive about 36 channels, most of them crystal clear. Local channels of course come in the best. Great for getting local news and some major networks which is really all I wanted it for and this one is great for that. If you are expecting more, then an indoor antenna is not for you.

Works Well

The good- This antenna works very well and brings in channels from broadcast antennas that are some 25 miles away clearly. I'm in a condo building on the first floor and have the Mohu antenna placed on a transom window above the door way to my balcony. It's in a fairly recessed location but after trying different placement this area seemed best and it receives 15 channels. Some of these are channels I don't watch but 4 of them I do and that's good enough for me together with a Hulu and a Netflix streaming subscription , I can watch all the TV I want. I do miss not having a DVR to record shows but that's ok since I'm saving $130.00 a month on my cable bill.
The bad- it looks like a placemat on your window
It's very sensitive to placement
Sometimes in bad weather there is some pixelation
Overall I do recommend the Moho Leaf 50 but do your research. If one of your favorite tv stations broadcasts in VHF instead of most that are in UHF you will be out of luck with this antenna. In my area WTVD broadcasts in VHF and so I cannot pick up the local ABC .affiliate.

Stick it to the cable companies! This is a great antenna that I use all the time. It's thin enough to hide just about anywhere and the signal is typically incredibly clear.
My only gripes are that sometimes the signal get garbled and I'm not wild about having the wires visible while the rest of my cabling is hidden in the wall. I think both of these could be fixed if I could be bothered to do something about it.
I have no regrets about purchasing this antenna and have recommended it to multiple friends looking to reduce their monthly cable bill coupled with a subscription to one of the many on-demand video services.

I like the look of this antenna...no rabbit ears to deal with. I was able to pull in the local stations that I wanted to. Light and hung on wall with a couple of pins.
