Customers recognize the Air Mini's positive impact on air quality and its appealing design, citing ease of setup and effective odor removal as key benefits. However, some users find the device's sound level at higher settings to be excessive, and the cost of replacement filters a significant drawback. The app functionality also received mixed reviews. Overall, the purifier's effectiveness is frequently praised, but potential buyers should consider the noise and filter replacement expenses.

I suffer from spring allergies and was looking forward to finding out if a premium product like Molekule Air Mini would help.
Short answer. Yes. I keep it in my bedroom and the air is noticeably fresher and I sleep better.
But what makes it worth the cost? Quality. It is even packaged well. The construction is solid. It feels like it could take a knock or two. It is easy to set up, no tools required. Twist the top and it comes off easily to replace the filter. Even the power cord is well engineered, it has an out of sight out of the way wrap around base so you can have just the length you want. The cord is not detachable. Wish it was, but then it would not be as well integrated. The controls on top are simple. Tap. It's on. Tap again to set the fan speed. You do have to be a bit patient, rapid taps confuses it. And it looks good, clean lines. Except for one thing. Apparently they decided folks would want to carry this thing from room to room and picking it up from the bottom would be too hard. So they tacked on a handle on the side. It's as if there were two separate design teams. Yes, the handle is convenient. Yes, being heavy wool it's flexible, less like to break, but it's also more likely to stain. And in my opinion it's ugly. Shrugs, would take off half a point if I could.
I can not comment on how well it kills germs or not, but I can say since its been on I haven't gotten sick. Yes, I know that wasn't scientific, it was mostly my bad humor.
What I can comment on is how well it actually can clear a room of bad odors. I tried it in a couple of rough places (kitchen, dusty basement and pets) and I was impressed with how well it worked. It does have 5 different speeds, but in practice level 5 has the sound of a jet plane taking off so I used that if I am out of the room and can close some doors. While sleeping I had to put it down to level 1. After a few nights of getting used to that, raised it to 2 which is my personal white noise level. If the tv is on, 3 is okay.
Five stars for good design, premium construction, and works well in maintaining air quality in the room.

I’m a licensed massage therapist and I am exposed daily to lots of people and germs. I bought this for my massage room. I wanted to be able to still feel safe while giving my services to my clients when I was ready to take down my mask mandates during their visits. After 4 days of working in the room I can now say it really works! My clients are also loving how they can feel safe during their visits and have said they can feel the air quality in the room have changed. I will be buying this brand for my home too. Thank you to Molekule for making this FDA approved purifier and providing us with a safe way to continue to work during these times!

The Molekule Air Mini is a very interesting air purifier device. The rated room size is 250 sq ft and the room that I have it in is my master bedroom, which is about 320 sq ft total including the bathroom and walk in closets. So it’s a little bigger than what this device is rated for, but I have noticed a big improvement in the air quality over all. My allergies are really bad this time of year and I am usually sneezing quite a lot, but after using this for the past week, I haven’t been sneezing quite as much, even though the outside air pollen count has remained pretty much the same. I am impressed with this unit and my wife agrees with me. She has also noticed that the air quality seems much better. The operation and set up of this is very simple, you plug it in and turn it on via the recessed circle on the top. It’s touch sensitive and easy to use, but also easy to miss. It is not marked very well, and you can easily hit the wrong area. It’s dead center and you just have to get used to hitting the spot. Each tap will cycle through the 5-speed fan and the first two are very quiet, speed 3 is a little noticeable, 4 is loud and 5 sounds like a jet engine at full throttle. I keep mine on 3 and we enjoy the slight white noise at bedtime. The filter inside is not a standard HEPA filter, but a PECO filter. This is their proprietary technology and is uses UV light to kill bacteria, viruses, mold, allergens, and VOCs that are pulled through the device. I have no way to measure this scientifically, but they do have a lot of information on their website of the technology and how it works incase you were interested. https://www.molekule.com/papers
This little device is easy to move around, and you can easily take it from room to room if you wish and it seems to take a short amount of time to fully filter out a sealed 250 sq ft room. From my observations, roughly a little over an hour according to my unscientific method. Replacement PECO filters are $75 for a filter that lasts 6 months or you can subscribe for $99 a year for two filters.
The Molekule app was not working properly for me. The set up seems pretty straight forward to set up the Wi-Fi connection. Following the prompts you get to the actual connection and you have to hit the “help” link so that you know that you have to set up a “new” Wi-Fi connection named: Molekule, WPA2, and Molekule as the password. Then you get to a section where you can put in the Wi-Fi information that you want the Molekule to connect to….only for me it bounced between “connection successful” to this connection could not be made. After many resets (holding down the Molekule’s power button for 10-15 seconds until the lights danced) I still was unable to connect to it. I finally gave up. I am not sure what functionality the app gives, but I don’t see the point if I leave the device on all the time. I understand that this device has been out for a while so the app features should be ironed out. That being said, I am not using an apple device and it does state that it supports an iPhone 5 and higher along with Android phones and it could be my Linksys Velop whole home mesh Wi-Fi system is not compatible either.
Pros:
Clean air
sleep better
quiet operation
slick, simple design
Cons:
Price
expensive filters every 6 months
app not working for me

Crisp Clean Air in a Small Package

Getting Fresh Air is always a great feeling, but unfortunately we don’t always have that in our homes because air seems to get trapped and recirculated in there. I was very interested in the Molekule Air Mini as I think it’s something that could be a benefit in our life but I wondered if I would notice it - so far it has definitely been of great use!
LOOK & FEEL:
- First off, the Air Mini really is a clean modern looking device. It was meant to be out in the open so I really appreciate how Molekule made it look like it deserves to be out. No harsh angles, no weird colors, just a nice clean round design that will look like a nice addition to your room.
- The build of the Air Mini has some cool aspects. The cloth handle is very sturdy and easy to use for moving around. And I know this is small, but the chord management is very clever for this. You can easily wrap the chord underneath the Air Mini so you can use as little or as much chord as you need. Very nice trick!
- I also really like the 360 degree design. This way it sucks in air from every direction and shoots it out in every direction. It’s a nice way to ensure no blend spots and create an even airflow.
- The Air Mini covers 250 square feet so was meant to be in a bedroom or office, or brought alone with you on travel. I really like how portable it is and the size. It’s nice how you can easily set it on a table or shelf and it isn’t too heavy or large. Plus its nice how it does not take up any floor space and you don’t have to lug it around with its light weight design.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Once setup, its pretty much smooth sailing from there! There is a button on top you tap to switch from levels 1-5 and if you take the button for 3 secs it will go into standby mode. Molekule advises you run the device 24/7 as it does not use much energy and I’m sure that’s how it works best.
- The fan modes are nice and versatile. Overall the sound output is smooth and soothing, not clunky at all. Molekule recommends using the Air Mini on at least Level 2 at all times which is quiet enough where it isn’t very noticeable but still provides a subtle fan noise. Level 1 is very quiet and Level 5 is loud but powerful in its output. I think many who sleeps with fans at night would like level 5.
- The main thought I had was “Will I notice a difference?” And I can truly say yes. You can smell that the air coming out of it is extremely fresh and crisp air. I know that sounds weird but once you experience it you will know exactly what I mean. After some use I can sense that the room the Air Mini is in has noticeable fresher & cleaner air then the rest of the house. Specifically, those with allergies have been able to notice a difference in their breathing and comfort when they are in the room of the Air Mini!
CONS:
- Let me first say the Molekule isn’t necessary to use this device. The only App benefit I see is to remotely control the Air Mini and check the level of the filter. It’s a very clean nice looking app but there is no Google Home / Alexa integration or features like scheduling the levels.
- Unfortunately, the App setup was the biggest downfall of this device. It should be simple and straight forward but it required me to trouble shoot a bit and re-add the device after figuring it out the first time.
- Obviously, the nice about the App is that these things can be fixed! The Molekule Air Mini still works perfectly but the App needs to focus on consistent usability and then added features. If they did that the Molekule family would be really incredible.
- Lastly, the cost of the Air Filters are something to consider. They are $75 a piece or $50 if you “Auto-Subscribe” through Molekule and last 6 months a filter.
BOTTOM LINE:
- I have used Air Purifiers in the past and none are as elegant as Molekule’s and none produce as clean of air. Molekule is not just filtering whats in the air, but killing it to with its PECO design. The upfront cost and filter replacement costs are above average but this is an above average Air Purifier which will have a noticeable impact!

I promptly received my Molekule Air Mini from the manufacturer and it comes in a very well thought out and very sturdy box which let me know that this machine while compact, it is also well thought out. The shape and design, with attached handle for easy transportation and movement of machine from area to area, reminds me of the no frill design of another famous European-inspired company.
The good news is that this is not a complicated, but easy set-up right out of the box. The main thing is to figure out how to twist and separate the top from the bottom so as to take off the plastic wrap around the filter and then just place it within the interior confine of the air cleaning machine. There is an app and I downloaded it from the Google Play store since I have an android, Samsung, smartphone. The app did not have a very high rating, it does not do a lot, but you can control the speed of the machine from 1 to 5 on it, it recognizes your Wi-Fi network on it, you can change your password through it, it gives you a filter status on it, you can activate filter auto-refill through it, and it does have the serial number and details about your device. Once you download the app to your phone, you hold it close to the machine to let it sync up and that is really most of the work.
So, I received this a week ago today and have had it running non-stop in my master bedroom. The higher the speed the loader the sound, so if you use the higher settings that might be good for days when not sleeping, but I leave it at 2 during the nighttime and even at that this could be used as a white sound machine, too.
It is spring and things are blooming here in Kansas, so pollen is in the air. While I do not have allergies, my husband is affected and I believe that he is less affected since we have started using this. I can tell you that I feel a cool, freshness to the air. This machine is meant to handle about a maximum of 250 square feet and my master bedroom is probably 20' x 15' which is slighter greater than the recommended area to use it in. Additionally, I have a trey ceiling so a good part of the ceiling is at 11' or so.
I did call in and speak with a customer service person because Iwas not sure if the company had already registered me for the warranty before they shipped it. The good news is that even though we are in this COVID-19 pandemic, someone in the U.S., I believe, answered quickly, did the warranty registration with me and also answered my question on the benefit of auto-filling vs. buying 1 filter at a time. I was told that the life of these filters is about 6 months. If you decide to activate auto-fill you get 2 filters for $99 vs. 1 filter for $75. That is why I took a picture of my filter after 7 days to see how dirty it was, which it is not. Of course the filter is dark colored, but I could not see anything clinging to it either.
Even though this is the smallest and least expensive of the Molekule Air Purifiers, in final analysis, this machine has a MSRP of $399 and is the benefit worth the price. We are living in a time where getting the air clean is very important, perhaps life saving so we must each determine what our own cost/benefit limit is. I will say that it does its job well, is easily transportable, easy to set up and monitor and control through it app on your phone, and it appears easy to maintain. The reason that I deducted 1 star is because of the price.

Quality air purifier, problematic pairing

Overall, the Molekule Air Mini is a compact, competent air purifier with some nice options. I would recommend it with a few caveats:
Getting the big issue out of the way: I had serious problems pairing this unit with my Android phone and connecting it to my home network. I spent a total of two hours over several days with multiple phone and router reboots and Molekule resets along the way. I followed the troubleshooting instructions, including manually connecting to the Molekule's default network and I was completely unable to initially pair the device to my phone. I should mention that I have a number of other smart devices in my home that have paired flawlessly to my Note 9, so I would be surprised if it were a phone or wi-fi issue alone.
Ultimately, we used the Molekule app on my wife's iPhone and were able to eventually get the Molekule up on the network. At that point, the Molekule applied a firmware update and now both my wife's iPhone and my Note 9 can connect and control the device without further issue. It's not a complete deal-breaker if you have an iPhone but annoying and clearly a warning if all you have at home are Android phones. I would hope that newer devices ship with updated firmware that resolves this issue out of the box.
As for efficiency and noise, the Molekule has 5 fan settings from low to high which takes it from silent to quite loud. I found no issues using it in my office on setting 1 or 2 without any real noise (and I've even turned it up to act as a makeshift white noise machine to help me concentrate with more distracting noises in the house). At its highest setting, it can make a noticeable difference in the air quality of my home office or bedroom in less than 30 minutes.
In the time that I've had the device, I've definitely noticed a rapid change in the air quality of both my home office and bedroom (I move it between rooms, which is easy given the relatively light weight and convenient little handle). I also like the way the power cord wraps up inside the base to allow for a long cord if needed and a shorter option without a wad of wire behind the device.
My only remaining issue was the frequent requests in the app to sign up for automatic filter replacement service. The filters are not cheap, but they do seem to be very high quality. I would still prefer not to be asked four separate times during the setup process when I've already declined the option each time. That said, and assuming the Molekule continues to perform admirably and stay connected to the app and my home network, I will likely sign up for the service - I'm just not keen to be prompted so often. I'm aware this is likely planned as an important revenue stream for Molekule but I found the multiple requests irritating and I have no intention of committing to the service until I know that the device will be functional and stable through the lifetime of the included filter at least.

Given the current circumstances we are in with the pandemic, what better reason to be in the market for a device that not only will clear the air of pollutants, allergens, smoke, dust, etc., but also claim to also filter and destroy airborne viruses; mind you these claims are backed by test and study documentation provided on their website. Molekule developed and uses their patented Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO) technology which, according to the studies provided, breaks down and destroys pollutants using this nanotechnology that most filter cannot. We have air purification devices throughout our house, which also doubles as an in-home daycare, to not only clear the air of smells but also provide a cleaner environment so the Molekule Mini was a welcome addition to the purifiers we were using before. A few things I really like about the Molekule is not only is it discreet and have a contemporary look to it, it’s also very quiet and easily portable between rooms using the strap on the side. It’s small enough to set on a counter or on the floor without being a distraction to your room décor and the Mini version claims to be suitable for spaces up to 250 square feet, such as a small bedroom or living space. It was very easy to set up and connect to the smart phone app where you can monitor your air quality or control the device. Unfortunately, it does not link to smart speakers, yet, but I would bet that will be an option in the future. After set up, I could tell within a day that our air smelled cleaner and have noticed in the first few days of use that my allergies have not been as bad in the morning when I wake up. Besides the lack of smart speaker controls, my only other gripe with the Molekule brand is the price point which I feel would be hard to justify for folks on a small or fixed income as there are many other air purifiers on the market for much less, although I’m sure they don’t filter as well nor have this much technology and documentation backing them. However, can you put a price on clean air or trying to prevent allergies or viruses floating around in your living area? Molekule definitely set the bar for small home use clean air devices so hopefully other companies will catch up soon so there’s more competition out there for this tech.

I’ve not had an air purifier before so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.
The setup was simple and I had it running in minutes. The first night that I did run it, I could certainly tell a difference. There a different pressure if you will in my room next to my bed. I generally only run it at night as I also sleep with a CPAP.
The filters for them do seem a bit pricey, though they only need replacing per the manual, every 6 months. It’s easy to replace as well and will take roughly a minute to do.
I like the look of it too as it’s quite sleek and minimal in its design.
Since this is just the Mini model, there is no app control which is disappointing, even though in various bits of material I’ve read, there is WiFi built in to the device, they just don’t have it enabled. This may be due to a move to push folks to the more expensive model the Air Mini+. That model also includes other features such as auto-sensing with the particulate in the air as well as the Auto Protect mode, which this model lacks.
It’s quite large so ensure you have the space. Its dimensions are roughly 16-18” tall, and about 8-10” in diameter. If you want this on a nightstand, you’re going to have to move things.
The main thing I really want to touch on here is the noise level. Anything above 2 in a small room is more or less unbearable. My room is roughly 12x13 with a 8.5’ ceiling and is likely the most ideal for this potential of this unit. On setting 1, I can hear the fan, but it’s not something that’s too distracting. At setting 2, I’d venture the DB is around 30-35, but setting 3, that’s easily approaching 45-50 DB. I work in I.T. and I have a knack for fan noise and I can say, this thing at 3 is louder than my self-built PC with all fans running at maximum. 4 and 5 are just so unbearable that I’m not even sure why they’re even options. At this point you’re approaching DB levels of the average conversation. Something this loud should definitely not be marketed for a 250sq feet but for something at the very least, 500 or greater where the unit is a good distance away.
This really is a deal breaker for even looking at adding another unit or even the larger Molekule Air system that supports 700sq feet.
Because of the noise level alone, I don’t think I could recommend these products. Not to mention the disabling of the WiFi capability to push people to the Mini+ I can’t fathom that it costs $100 more just to turn it on.
If you’re in the market for something to purify the air in your home or in a particular room, look for something that doesn’t sound like an industrial fan in a warehouse.

The Molecule Air Mini is a great device for filtering the air. If you are a person that that is sensitive to particles in the air; or, live in a polluted city, you cannot go wrong with using this unit. This is the smallest of three different Molekule products sold. This unit uses PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation) technology is supposed to destroy pollutants 1,000 times smaller than a traditional HEPA filter. This is described on their website as the ability to break down pollutants at a molecular level, including VOCs, bacteria, mold, viruses, and allergens. This unit is for a smaller area like a bedroom or study up to 250 sq. ft.
What’s in the box:
- The Molekule mini,
- One filter,
- a bag for storing the unit, and
- a manual.
The unit comes well packaged and is built very well. It is easy to get it set up and working. All you need to do is:
- push down and twist off the top,
- lift the cover,
- remove the filter and remove the plastic bag surrounding the filter,
- replace the filter,
- put the cover back on, and,
- plug it in.
If you read the manual, it states the unit does not connect to Wi-Fi or have an app available. This is false as the unit does have an app and connect to Wi-Fi. I downloaded the app and connected the device to Wi-Fi. There is nothing on the app that is not available on the unit itself. I would say do not waste your time on the app. I also found the unit had a difficult time maintaining the connection.
You control the device from the center button on the top of the unit. There are 5 settings and you can see which setting is chosen by the light on top of the unit. On setting 1 (39 dBa), you can barely tell it is on. On setting 5 (62 dBa), it is fairly loud but could be great white noise for sleeping. I personally like whit noise for sleep. The filter status is also displayed. Green = good, flashing orange and the filer is nearly used up, and flashing red means the filter must be replaced. Per the manual, the unit will not operate once the filter needs to be replaced. The filter is supposed to last approximately 6 months depending on usage. The filter is $75 on their website. You can also enroll in a filter replacement subscription for $99 a year. This is definitely the cheapest option.
I have used it for a little over a week so far. Honestly, it is hard to really know if the air is cleaner or not. You just have to trust the science. I feel better knowing my air is cleaner. Check out their website (https://molekule.com/technology) as there is much information on the technology and various test reports. Considering how important air quality is, I recommend this unit.

This air purifier is great. Not knowing much about purifiers, i just followed the instructions provided (which mentioned to take off the plastic bag around the filter and then put the cover back on) and plugged it in. Left it in my bedroom and overnight, i noticed quite a difference in the air quality. I have had it running for 7 days straight now and have not noticed any hiccups with this purifier. There are 5 different speed settings. I keep mine in the middle, or the third dot - i found this setting to be the best for my ears as 4 & 5 were just a tad bit too loud in terms of noise.
Onto the build qualtiy. This air mini feels very premium and weighs a tad bit over 7 lbs making it very portable (especially with the nice wool strap handle which makes it easy to carry). A much appreciated feature is that the power cord can be wrapped around and under the device where it is out of sight when not in use. Also, it is important to note that this purifier makes use of a PECO filter which destroys air pollutants where as many/most purifiers have a HEPA filter which traps air pollutants. Since getting this air mini, my allergies are barely noticeable anymore when i’m in the house thanks to this little guy.
Overall, i would highly recommend this item if anyone is in need of an air purifier. I have purchased many cheap purifiers in the past where i couldn’t even tell a difference in the air quality of my room. I am very happy with this one as it made a noticeable difference immediately.

Installation is easy, comes in a box and you unwrap the filter and off you go. Was a little confusing as the box said the wifi isn’t enabled, but then you get the app and it lets you set it up (must have been an older instruction manual).
I’ve been using it in my home office all week, and it's pretty quiet. I’m actually in the basement so it has freshened up the air. With allergies about to start for me I’m looking forward to being able to breath.
Compared to a lot of other filters I tried that are noisy and usually blow air at you, this is quite on the medium setting, and blows air up so you can put it near you.
The filter will need to be replaced, and with the app it tells you how it's doing (there are indicators on the filter too), and there is a program to have them shipped to you when needed.
The only thing missing for me, which comes with the + model, is a sensor to tell you how the air is and make adjustments. I would expect with something like this that it would be there.

Had a significant HVAC issue with associated mold event and mold-related health issues. Had been previously running a HEPA air purifier 24/7 but learned that filters are limited to capturing certain-sized particles and lack ability to neutralize mold/mycotoxins. Doctor and IEP (indoor environmental professional) recommended researching air purifiers with PECO or PCO technology, which can neutralize mycotoxins/mold. Continued to run the HEPA-only air purifier along with the Molekule mini. Noticed a difference in air quality within 24 hrs-36 hrs. The air felt lighter, crisper, and neutralized odors. Living in a large apt complex, lots of odors from neighbors, like disinfecting/cleaning, cooking, paints, laundry chemicals. The Molekule seems to do a better job at clearing VOCs than the HEPA-only, which is a benefit for those with chemical sensitivities. Easy to set up. Ended up purchasing a second one; purchased both when they were on sale. Sleek design, lightweight and easy to move around if desired. One downside is the noise level. To get the benefits of the Molekule as an FDA-cleared Type II medical device, the instructions say it needs to run at minimum of setting 3. Setting 4 is pretty loud and setting 5 is really loud and best to run at this level if not in the room. Did not experience bad (filter) odors as some other reviewers.

Nicely packed, well built, looking more like a very large smart speaker or subwoofer, the Molekule Air Mini is the smallest, least expensive version of the original. Don't be deceived by the word Mini, this thing is not so small, measuring about 12" high with a diameter of just over 8 1/4", check out the picture of a can of soda next to it...This model doesn't have any bells and whistles, just a button in the middle on top that blends in and 5 white LEDs that represent the fan speed. This model is designed for rooms of up to 250 sq ft, say most suitable for a bedroom. If you are a light sleeper like me, you will most likely not tolerate the fan noise any higher than Level 1. It gets progressively louder up to level 5. I used Level 3 - 5 after cooking to see if it helps eliminate odors, though it's mostly meant to destroy particulates in the air with its special "PECO" filter that's supposed to last 6-months.
While new, it seemed to generate its own odor, it smelled more like elmer's glue to me for a while, but only up-close and it seems to have gone away or I got used to it. I have no way of scientifically verifying its effectiveness, and I can only compare it to an ionic breeze fanless system which didn't make any noise and made the air in the room feel fresher/cooler by ionizing it and allegedly zapping bacteria and other air impurities. This is also one of the priciest air purifiers on the market, so it may not be for everyone but to each their own.

The Molekule Air Mini came packaged very well in order to prevent any damage during shipping. Right out of the box the air purifier has easy step by step directions for set up. Within minutes the purifier was ready for use. The Molekule Air Mini is aesthetically pleasing and perfect for small spaces. It works to pull in pollutants and not only traps them but destroys them before expelling clean, fresh air into the room. I am overall very pleased with this purchase and recommend the Air Mini purifier for anyone looking to clean the air in their home.

Still
Use it daily, filters are a bit much but it’s well worth the reward of fresh air

Definitely worth the purchase. I had gotten COVID and had this delivered to my home and helped me breathe better (I have asthma). Perfect size for my room, not too bulky, sturdy/durable and very modern looking which I LOVE!

I have owned a lot of different air purifier brands and this has been the best one by far. It comes well packaged and neatly packed. Setup is just pushing down, twisting the top off, remove plastic from filter and put back over the filter. It can be just a little difficult to align, but no big deal since you should only have to do it around every six months. Operation is super easy from the button on the top or the app. The is only really needed to update firmware and order filters. It really works and I travel a lot keep one in my hotel room. I have teo more at home in bedrooms. Other units are cheaper, but it is worth knowing it is killing viruses and mold spores.

Actually better than expected.
We have a larger Molecule in our living room/kitchen area and noticed a difference in air quality so we purchased this for our bedroom.
We also run Pure humidifiers during the cold months. Humidifiers do tend to get some thicker than water build-up in the base of the tank and sometimes buildup can be pink in color in tight areas where particles accumulate. The humidifiers are sanitized per instructions weekly.
The humidifier that runs in the bedroom with this Molekule has had absolutely no build-up whatsoever since we got the Molekule Air Mini. We are very happy with this. Absolutely recommend!
On a side note, we run a (larger much more expensive) different brand upstairs in our bonus room where we also have a pure humidifier. That humidifier gets build-up I have to pay extra attention to and clean nightly and sanitze more often.
