Customers admire the engaging gameplay loop and heartwarming story in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Many also praise the game's music and monster collecting mechanics, along with the in-depth battle system. However, some players have reported issues with the frame rate, particularly in the game's early sections. Despite this, the game's positive aspects appear to outweigh the negative for most players.

Incredible game. The stunning art direction and colorful graphics truly shine, especially when playing on an OLED screen. Highly recommend this game. The price was great since it was on sale.

My family loves the game so much I had to buy a second copy of the game. So everybody could take turns playing and helping each other online. It's a great game that is very colorful and the story is great. We are loving all the different monsters the game has and the kinship moves each monster has to offer.

I enjoyed the first MHST on the 3DS quite a bit, revisiting the game about a month before this was due to come out. And then the demo for MHST2 arrived, and WOW what an upgrade! As you might expect, the sequel improves upon every aspect of the original.
Characters and environments are now rendered a little less cartoonishly, with more realistic proportions, but no less lovingly for it. Characters (and monsters!) are expressive and well-animated while the environments, armors, and weapons pop with color and detail.
The paper-rock-scissors battle system returns with added depth, strategy, and functionality. You now can equip three weapons at a time to switch between during turns to press your advantage. And when you’ve leveled up enough above the current crop of monsters you’re running into in an area, you can just hit ZL+ZR to quick-finish a fight! Great for grinding.
The story is compelling enough; while it’s no great drama it’s fun and pulls you along. You don’t need to have played the first game to enjoy this but there are returning characters that players will recognize and welcome.
This is a Monster Hunter game, an RPG, and somehow much more than the sum of its parts. This is the best Pokémon game to come out in years, too.
Seriously.

The Perfect Blend

If you're a huge fan of Monster Hunter and or pokemon/RPGs, then this game is the perfect mix of the three. It's unbelievable how well the Monster Hunter themes blend into its gameplay and combat. And if you've found the story of MH games lacking, this title does a fair job of keeping you engaged at least. It can still be a combat grind like Past MH entries. But a surprisingly fresh take for fans and newcomers alike.

Fun game, somewhat poor performance

Charming role-playing/creature collecting game set in the Monster Hunter universe. The story is a typical feel-good, straightforward sort, but has its heartwarming moments and is enjoyable to experience. Core gameplay revolves around rock-paper-scissors matchups and is relatively simple to learn, but has varied enough patterns between enemies to be fun throughout the game.
Performance on Switch leaves a bit to be desired, with notably poor performance (15-20 FPS) in the second region of the game. Mostly tolerable otherwise. Switch version is great for short pick-up-and-play sessions which the game is well suited for, but the PC version will be significantly better if smooth gameplay and visuals are a concern.
If you like Monster Hunter and ever wanted to pet one of the monsters in the series, you'll probably enjoy this.

This is a great game if you’re a fan of monster hunter and Pokémon. The grind for eggs with good genes is addicting and the turn based gameplay it great if you’re a fan of games like Pokémon. The game also incorporates a lot from monster hunter so if you know what the items do from monster hunter it will help a lot.

Very well rounded story. The gameplay has an engaging loop. Length wise your looking at 50 plus hours. If you like collecting monsters like Pokémon you’ll find a place at home here. This is a spin off, so it’s not a Monster Hunter you may be used to. It does everything the first one does on the 3ds and improves it. Other the frame rate stutters I would highly recommend this title for fans of rpgs or collect em all type gamers.

Very fun game set in the monster hunter universe. It’s play style is turn based as opposed to the main series action based combat. The game is also more stylized and cartoonish than the main series. Fun, if a little repetitive.

This game is fantastic. I've always liked Monster Hunter but the main series games are a bit too tedious. This is a nice balance between getting to be in the world and interact with the monsters with much less grinding for gear.
