Fun game. It is worth the price. The crypt is grinding but the lastest patch help it alot.

NetherRealm Studios by far has the best story campaign of any fighting game developer. I played this on a PS4 Pro and the graphics were gorgeous. The tutorial is in depth and shows the nuances of a fighting game. The Krypt is tedious, but the core mechanics are great. I’m looking forward to see what characters are released in the season pass.

If you aren't familiar with the nature of the Mortal Kombat game... well, where have you been hiding? It's a very bloody fighting game that revels in excessive violence. Not to say it's not fun, because it is. Just be sure if you're looking at this for a younger child, better double check that. The combat is fun, the characters interesting and unique, and with the ability to customize them really makes the game feel like yours. My only real gripes are, at best, minor: 1. The gore can be a bit excessive. The "Fatal Blow" combos in particular are pretty gruesome, the sfx going for every squelch and stab with gusto, and honestly can be a bit much, especially after a while of playing. 2. The "always online" need. To unlock some fatalities and brutalities and such, you must explore the krypt and battle on the towers, which both require an online connection. So if your not networked, or have network errors, a good portion of the game is instantly cut out from you. Same goes for earning rewards in battles. No network = no earnings of the needed hearts and such. My PS4 is networked, so it's not a direct issue for me, but still I hate when games require that online connection. For bonus content and DLC? That's fine. But for in-game content that's part of the game itself? No, not cool. But, that being said, I'm having a lot of fun with the game. The stages are highly detailed and it's fun just watching the background trying to pick out all the things going on. Good times, but its level of gruesome gore could give Freddy Krueger nightmares.
