Corrupted my PS4

We hooked it up and after 5 minutes of playing his ps4 started slowing down and then ultimately froze. We restarted but then received error messages saying the application is corrupted and to reinstall. Tried that but it happen again and in the end we had to reset his entire ps4 just to get it working again. He lost all his data and had to spend hours-days trying to fix/update. We haven’t tried this game since in fear of it corrupted his ps4 again.
