    Replacement for Comcast Modem/Router

So far so good! We purchased this to replace the modem we were renting from Comcast. Will pay for itself in 9 months or so. Physically connecting it was easy. Had to call Comcast to switch their system to connect to the new modem. Was about a 30 minute process for their rep to walk through the steps till we were back online. Then had to reset our wireless printer for the new modem as well. It has only been connected for less than a week, but all is going well...actually things seem to work faster than before.

The Motorola dual band ac1900 is more than enough wifi modem for our home and office using 8 wifi devices. Easy setup and very easy to set settings in the dashboard. Was using Exfinity modem and I now have faster download speed, and upload. I had no issues at all since it was installed using Exfinity automatic set up once turned on. One note, better double check with Exfinity when returning there modem to see if they know you have your modem up and running. Motorola is a trusted company with great support in case any questions about your settings. They do have a phone number to call, huge plus due to many other modems don't have a phone number to call for support. You did it again Motorola. I love it.

Returned for Refund and Went with Netgear C7000

I wanted a modem/router combo for a new Spectrum Cable internet installation in our house. I bought this Motorola and a Netgear C7000, which were both highly rated online, and let the Spectrum installer choose for me. He chose the Netgear device so I returned the Motorola for a refund. I'm sure the Motorola is very good, but I have no regrets keeping the Netgear, which is working great so far.

I picked up my Motorola modem and Wi-Fi router at the store. It was very easy to connect. All my equipment was on as soon as I typed in the router password. We had wireless connectivity for everything, including gaming and streaming movies. The Motorola modem/router gave us great speed on all devices. We ditched the Spectrum modem and router because we were having constant problems with them. Our new router gave us much better Wi-Fi performance.

I really like it! I have a great connection in every room in my house. It has a strong signal and really works well. I really like Motorola product and have purchased other things they have made. The price was just right and I wasn’t looking to pay more than I did. My brother helped me research what was the best one. I will see how long it lasts to see if I would get another one in the future. So far, so good! I would definitely recommend it.

Replaced older and separate Arris modem and Apple router. Improvement in reliability and in particular speed was remarkable at 4 to 5 times what it had been. The speed was maintained in a range throughout out our approximately 2000 sq ft single story home. Set up was fairly easy although did have to contact Spectrum directly by phone but it was done in minutes. Bought one a few months ago for a family member who lives in a Comcast area and was able to set up without contacting Comcast directly by phone. The speed and reliability improvement in that case was equally impressive. Good product.

This is the best router I've had. My last Motorola from 2012 got much slower recently. I upgraded to this one and have not had any problems. My only gripe is that they now require your WiFi SSID to be 6 characters long. My wireless network that I've had for years and years is 5 letters long, so I had to update all of my individual devices to reflect the new SSID.

Set up is easy with these, as to be expected, and wireless speeds are good. I can't compare the range to others, but seems very fast within 40 ft.

I bought this to replace an Arris SBG6580-2 that had issues with frequent resets and lockups (apparently not uncommon according to reviews) after a few months in service. The Motorola MG7550 is designed in large part by Zoom, and I've had good results with Motorola/Zoom products in the past... and the reviews of the MG7550 gave no reason to think otherwise of this unit. I'm familiar with programming home routers, including features like WiFi MAC access lists, port forwarding, firewall rules, DDNS, and DHCP address reservations. I had all of the necessary information on hand, and I thought getting the MG7550 set-up would be a relatively quick process. The user interface was easy enough to navigate, with on-screen contextual help available for just about every item. Getting the modem activated with Comcast/Xfinity was a quick online process. I then started to program the MG7550's features... and that's where things started to get dicey. Although I was finally able to get everything working properly after several hours (I learned to back up the configuration after each significant change was finally successful), I experienced many inexplicable quirks in the user interface that made what should have been a straightforward process pretty painful. For example, when making entries for DHCP address reservations, all entries except one would enter properly but that one particular entry would cause the DHCP server to switch itself to "disabled" (with the only apparent recovery being a factory reset "start over"... hence the frequent backups through the process). Finally only changing the name of the device I was trying to enter for a DHCP reservation allowed the process to complete. Also, my DDNS entry reported that the DDNS provider was unreachable until, after one of many times cycling the DDNS feature off and back on again, it decided to suddenly work. My guess is that this all reveals a "not ready for prime time" graphical interface behind which is a pretty solid machine. At the end of the day, the MG7550 is working well, with good WiFi coverage for a unit with integrated antennas. The WiFi scanner is a very helpful tool in selecting WiFi channels/bandwidths. Hopefully some updates are forthcoming that will improve the usability of the programming interface... the bad news is with this being a modem/router combo, you're at the mercy of your cable provider as to if or when you'll receive any available updates.

Simple install and I had fast internet in 30 minutes. I have Xfinity 200mb/s speeds and the setup wasn't difficult. It works great as I was able to download 40gb+ pc games in under 3 hours. My only complaint is that it is incompatible with online gaming. I was able to connect my Nintendo Switch and 2DS and browse online but when I tried playing games online I kept getting error codes. Aside from the gaming issue I was able to stream drawing sessions seamlessly and upload youtube videos really fast. If you now how to do port forwarding or creat VPN servers then you might be able to play online but I'm not that tech savvy.
