The only thing I would like is that Motorola had kept the finger scan in the screen as the previous model and if this phone could have wireless charging will be a hit. It might not have the super flashy Samsung OLED screen but it's performance more than makes up for that. Lightning quick and responsive with an uncluttered Android experience makes the new edge five g a winner.

So, I bought the moto edge 5g. I love it so far. Heads up: there's no wireless charging nor my beloved stylus. But, overall it does what I need. I'm not too into phones. So, it's been great for me.

Pros-great screen, quick response time, good for both face and finger ID activation, fast charge time, charger is included with phone, Android 11 included and update to Android 12 promised, large internal storage, camera is good not great. Cons-only one speaker, no slot to increase memory chip storage, slippery case and very few after market phone protective cases are available.

Careful about notification settings, had a 1.5 day drain, was active notifications. Unlocked, works w/ ATT, having a random "SIM not recognized" error, think I ressolved it.

Returned after two hours. NO EXPANDABLE MEMORY.

Since no stores had it in stock (seeing it was just released the first week of September 2021). So I took a gamble and ordered it. First off: Best Buy states that it has expandable memory. IT DOES NOT. Secondly, coming from my Galaxy S10 (2+ years old), this just felt like a downgrade. I've grown used to the punchy colors and black blacks of AMOLED on Samsungs, so I knew the screen on this wouldn't be as punchy, but my eyes just could not focus on this screen and get comfortable. Everything just looked washed out and even playing with the settings left little room for improvement. Max brightness was a lot lower than I had imagined. Even with the 144 HZ refresh rate, my two-year old S10 display blows it away. Another thing to consider, the Moto interface is just plain jane. I had a Moto X Pure Edition in 2015, and I'm not lying when I say the interface hasn't changed all that much after 6 years. Samsung's interface is punchy and exciting, whereas Moto's feels like Linux. Also, there is no wireless charging and no stereo speakers (fires out of bottom port only). Lastly, the thumbprint sensor is placed on the side power button, but when I placed the official Motorola case on this phone, there was a ridge that prevented my thumb from fully contacting the sensor, requiring multiple tries to unlock. Frustrating after only a few hours, and such an obvious detail to miss!! I had this nostalgic view of Moto in my mind, but they really need to spend some time polishing their products if they want to compete with Samsung and the others. It's not a BAD phone, but if you're looking for an upgrade from your two or three year old phone, it's a bit of a let-down. On a plus note, they included a fast charger! (a rarity in today's world).

I did buy it unlocked, so make sure your service provider supports this model in their 5G network. As of today 4-1-2022, Boost Mobile does not support this model, but will be adding it in the near future.
