Purchased this during Black Friday at $10 off to replace an aging cable modem. This performs very well -- setup with Spectrum was very simple, and my internet connection is much more stable than before. However, the modem emits a very strong 'burning plastic' smell since its unboxing, wafting throughout my home. I've been using it for over a week now, and it has not dissipated. It's quite bad, and for this reason I have decided to return this item.

When replacing my existing Netgear CM500 modem I INSTANTLY seen a download speed increase along with a reduction in ping. Had random connectivity issues with the Netgear machine. The MB7420 appears to have resolved that issue. Other things I like about this modem is the design. Stands without being pulled over by the weight of the connecting cables. The light on the front face of the modem are clear (unlike the CM500 which you can barely see) but not obtrusive (unbearably bright as with the Arris modems). I highly recommend this modem as an alternative to renting a modem from your ISP.

It does what it needs to, but I get a maximum of 90 MBPS download speed.

It was a decent modem but I needed something faster as I was cutting my cable and needed a gigabit modem.

Works just wasn't right fit for me. Would suggest spending more for the upgrade.

Sav omg is a lot of money by owning no our own. Great brand.

DID NOT WORK PROPERLY SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE STORE

The box advertises Xfinity recommended but barely worked with the service. One I turned my computer off, Xfinity would boot me off line. I returned this immediately and went back to using my Surfboard modem. Now my internet is back to normal and blazing fast.

Item purchased 6/5/17 and installed. Worked reasonably well for 2 weeks, then intermittent disconnects from Router started, and progressively got worse, until Router was unable to establish a connection with Modem. Cox (ISP) eventually confirmed that the Modern had unspecified internal errors.

Comcast told me this modem would not permit them to troubleshoot my service remotely. Only their brand would permit this. Good price though.

It wasn’t strong enough to handle the data plan from our isp. You’ll also need a router with this product. I would recommend finding a 2 in1 type of modem.
