Didn't work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried this modem because it was one of Comcast compatible modems according to their website but it didn't work. Switched it for a different brand and it worked perfectly. Maybe I just had a defective one.

Modem is good when it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old SB 6120 bit the dust so I had to get a new modem. So I chose this. I've had it for a few weeks now- The modem does get pretty warm, not hot but quite warm. It does work well when it's synced up. The problem is it loses sync constantly it seems. So you have to constantly reset it. By constantly I mean a few times a day. This is aggravating. The reason I'm confident it's the modem is my other modem rarely lost sync and as soon as I got this one it started to lose connection. When it establishes a connection it works fine and as I said the problem is it doesn't hold it. Since I've had it now for a about 3 weeks I can't return it..so if I want to get another I'll have to buy another and see how it performs withen a week or so. The reason I didn't take thiso ne back right away was I figured it had to be something else since it's a new modem but I think it's the modem.

Works great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Atlantic broadband has a modem list that is 6 years old and after my fourth try I hit a tech who knew his stuff and said this modem 7420 would work and after activating it I went from 3 to 4 Mbps with their modem to the 60 Mbps My daughter was paying for and it hasn't dropped off yet .this is a good quality and speed modem and I'm Glad I didn't listen to Atlantic broadband list or first 3 techs bestbuy has the best warranty to buy and it shipped in less then 2 days with Walmart and target you have to ship your modem back for repairs not replacement like bestbuy

Died after 1 year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a great modem when it worked. However, after a year almost to the date, it started dropping connections with my ISP and when connected was only giving 1/2 to 2/3 of my plan speed (100Mb service), which it had reliably maintained eaerlier. After it couldn't reliably maintain a downstream signal when connected directly to the main cable line, I returned to Best Buy to replace it with a similar modem from a different manufacturer, which restored my speeds and network to normal - confirming it was the modem that gave out. 1 star for relaibliity. 1 additional star because even though it only worked for a year, it was still cheaper over that year than renting a modem from my ISP.
