This modem was great for about 9 months, but then my download speed fell from ~100 mbps to less than 10 mbps. Support from my internet provider came over to test esch part of my syster (their cables, my cables, my modem, etc.), and found that the modem was the issue. They swapped in a replacement and I was back to ~100 mbps. So it looks like modem is failing with less than 1 year of us (ok a 2-year warranty).

The product itself is great. But, I was told that this was all that I needed to have WiFi in my home. Not true, I also need a router.

You have to buy a router with this so it’s gonna cost you about $200 maybe more. I returned it and got a different modem that had a router with it.

Couldn't have been much easier to set up. We have new Xfinity service so I had previously installed the Xfinity app. There is a label on the bottom with, among other things a 7 (I think) combination of letters and numbers. I plugged the modem in and left it alone for 10 minutes or so to let it 'get acquainted' with the cable system. I then entered the 7 digit number/letter combination and a MAC address via the app. A few more seconds and we were connected. We're paying to 600 Mb. down and we sometimes get more than that per speedtest.net. We've only had it for a month so no long term report yet. Couple things to be aware of. First this is just a cable modem so no routing functions and no wifi. You'll need a router with wifi capability if desired. Some people prefer all-in-one devices, I prefer separate so if one function fails I don't have to replace both. I don't feel that all-in-one devices have top quality routing functions or best wifi capability. By going separates I have some control over that. Second the default user name/password is REALLY easy to guess. Plug the modem's ethernet cable into a computer ethernet port, open a web browser go to the I.P. address on the label of the modem and change the user name/password. Given what Xfinity charges for their modem/router device, I figure the break even point is around 7 months.

Good Replacement for Cable Modem (Comcast)

My previous Comcast modem was not supported anymore and doing some research online, I found this modem had great reviews and cost efficient. I purchased due to many positive reviews on here and other sites. The installation was VERY EASY the only hiccup I had was that it didn't recognize the right brand of Motorola however this maybe cause I live in a apartment complex but called Comcast and they fixed within 5 minutes and no issues since. So far good modem and it increased my speed.

It does what we bought it to do - no muss no fuss. We're using this with Xfinity, We figured the payback vs. renting their box was less than 7 months. We already had a good router. I was partial toward Motorola because we've already had their MoCA adapters for a couple years and same deal - no muss no fuss. The only caveat with the install is that their default user name/password is REALLY easy to guess. I would recommend logging into their web page interface and changing the user name/password to something more secure. I didn't change anything else. Speed test says we're getting the speeds we're paying for. I'd buy it again.

I first bought an Arris which didn't work with RCN, actually bought two, finally spent the extra 20 bucks and bought this one which goes up to a gig. Do your homework either way, both Xfinity and RCN played the blame game when I couldn't get my internet working, I finally got it working by reseeding all the cables. I had a Motorola for nine years in the past without a problem so I'm playing it safe with Motorola from now on plus it's a nice looking modem.

Really good. Gives me full 400Mbps throughput from my ISP. Connection is stable and it plays well with my provider (Xfinity) and the router it’s connected to (TP-Link ER605). The upload and download lights are supposed to turn blue when you’ve got full channel bonding. Green if they’re functioning but not at full capacity. If you’re only getting green I recommend restarting the modem until you get blue.
