The Moto 360 is a great device. I love being able to customize and design my watch face using the Facer application. I also purchased the Pebble Steel band which fits the Moto 360 perfectly.

    Version 2 could be perfect

I've been very reluctant to get into the smart watch game, and it took me a lot of waiting, researching, and a pretty decent sale before I decided to pull the trigger on the Moto 360. So far though, I'm very impressed with this watch, and the Android Wear platform, considering how relatively young the smart watch scene is. What sold me on this watch was the round face (I think the square faced smart watches look like 25 cent cracker jack prizes), metal band, water resistance, and customizable faces. I'm often asked by curious people if anyone really "needs" a smart watch. At this point, I can comfortably say "no". However, certain features absolutely become quite nice and easy to get used to, to the point where going back to a standard watch may leave you slightly disappointed. Specifically I'm thinking of notifications and activity tracking. My phone is usually on low or vibrate in some baggy pockets, so I often miss notifications/texts until I pick up my phone and manually look at it. Now, I never miss them because I feel a quite, faint, yet unmistakeable vibration on my wrist that lets me know I have a notification. From there I can either look, or choose to ignore it for now and take a mental note to look at it when I have a minute. And it's not just texts, it's all apps and emails. It's also very nice to be able to see who just emailed me, and if necessary, read the entire email text on my wrist, or just the first sentence or so and read the rest on my phone later. The activity tracking is admittedly not that necessary, but still very nice because it's significantly easier to use the built-in heart monitor on the Moto 360 than the one on my Galaxy S5. It's also very nice to have the pedometer feature because I used to use a clip-on one on my waist, which occasionally would get in the way, fall off, or I'd forget about it and accidentally destroy it through a washing machine cycle. Having these activity features built into my watch instead of all in separate clunky devices is a huge win. It's also pretty cool that when viewing notifications on my watch, I can tell it to open the relevant app on my phone with one touch and save a little bit of time manually opening it. Cosmetically, the unnecessary but extremely cool (and a main selling point to me) feature is the customizable faces. There are a handful of options built-in, but I only used each of those for an hour or so. Where you really want to go are the community-designed watch faces, of which there are hundreds. Some are downright awful, but there are many very impressive designs. They span from simple (basic digital or analog style), to impersonating real-world high-end designs (Rolex, Breitling, Invicta, etc), to car themed (Ferrari, Chevrolet, Aston Martin, etc), to game and movie themed (James Bond/GoldenEye, Zelda, Star Wars, Tron, Halo), to confusing yet awesome (very cryptic designs that take some time to figure out how to decipher). Basically, there is really a watch design for everyone out there. You can even design your own if you have the patience. You may need to download separate apps (some free, some not) to transfer over your custom watch faces. Customization is a huge plus here as well. Not just the customizable watch faces (which are incredibly awesome), but the fact that Motorola offers several variations of face and band colors and designs. Black, silver, champagne, gray, metal, leather, etc. Mixing and matching the physical design choices give you quite an array of choices. I settled on the black face and black metal band personally (I like not needing to worry about getting a leather band wet), but the other colors looked just as cool. I also have grown to love the nightstand watch this turns into when charging at night. It is very small and dim, so it doesn't hurt my eyes to look at in the dark, nor is it just generally annoying to have in the room. It also tells you the charging % too, which is nice, and charges surprisingly fast as well. While I would love a non-wired charging option too, such as a micro USB port, I've lived without it fine so far. Battery life isn't as limiting as I was worried about based on other reviews. My first day of using it, from about 7:30am to 8pm, I had 60% left on my watch battery with no charging in between. This was with very moderate use though, such as checking the time every half hour or so, and checking a handful of notifications throughout the day. You will absolutely need to plan on charging it nightly, but I doubt I will ever need to charge it mid-day to avoid an early battery death. However, this was with ambient mode off. I did try one day with ambient mode on (which leaves the face on very low brightness all day), and I had 20% battery left at the end of the day. So I could see ambient mode being problematic depending on how long your days are and how much you use the watch. I didn't want battery life to be a concern so I turned ambient mode off the next day. But improved battery life that easily allows for ambient mode would be a great upgrade for the next Moto 360 iteration. Initial setup was pretty easy. You just need to connect it to your phone's Bluetooth, install some firmware updates (which did take several minutes), and that was pretty much it. Needing constant Bluetooth connection with my phone was a little bit of a change for me. I usually keep Bluetooth off except when playing music to keep my phone's battery life better. So now that I need it on 24/7, my phone's battery life has gone down slightly, but not in a deal-breaking way. I also have to remember to keep my phone and watch within about 30 feet of each other to keep my watch 'on the grid'. I did need to resize it up one segment from its initial size (even with a below average wrist size), and resizing expensive watches has always given me anxiety. But I got through it with a five dollar watch resizer from amazon in under ten minutes with no issues. So why the 4-star rating? The one and only thing that really bugs me is the so-called "flat tire" design, referring to the black strip at the bottom of the watch face. It ruins a lot of potentially good custom watch face designs and is generally just hard to look past if you have any OCD tendencies. I believe they'll find a way to fix this design problem in the next version, and then this will really be perfect. However, I did find a way to almost forget about this problem by only using custom faces that lend themselves well to the black bottom. My current "Star Wars" face is mostly black so I hardly notice the black strip anymore. There are also other clever designs that use the black strip as scenery, a horizon, a cityscape, and so forth, to where it actually even looks intentional. So my bottom line on this, is if you can get it at a pretty good discount and look past the flat tire design, it's a very capable watch that I have really grown to love. However, from what I understand, there is a version 2 around the corner, so if you can wait (and are willing to pay more), it may be better just hold out for that one. *Summary* Pros: [+] Love the round face, an absolute must for me [+] Customizable faces are a lot of fun and give everyone an opportunity to find the perfect theme for them [+] Plenty of face & band colors, in both metal and leather [+] Water resistant, so I don't need to stress about being around water [+] Vibration is subtle, quiet, yet effective [+] Instant notifications that I never miss, unlike with my phone [+] Enough battery life to get me through the day easily with ambient mode off [+] Included wireless charger is high quality and charges very fast [+] Really liking the small, dim, bed-side clock the watch turns into when charging wirelessly at night [+] Metal band looks nice and wasn't too difficult to resize [+] Release clip on metal band keeps watch secured very well and makes it easy to release and remove [+] While some people say the face is too big, I think the size is perfect how it is. I hear the next one may be smaller, which would be disappointing to me. I really hope they keep a larger size option still available. Cons: [-] Obviously, pricier than nearly every other watch out there [-] Black strip ("flat tire") at bottom gets in the way of many otherwise awesome watch faces [-] Improved battery life would still be great to make ambient mode more feasible

While this isn't the newest Smart Watch (a few models are out this year) it is still one of the better Android Wear watches on the market. I picked this up on sale for $179. When compared to the $349 of the Apple Watch, this seems like a steal. The Smart Watch market is still in its infancy, with neither Google or Apple knowing JUST what to do with it yet.. The Moto 360 is the best looking of the 2014 Android Wear watches and doesn't far fall behind in features compared to the newer LG G Watch R. Android Wear is updating at a rapid pace so it will be fun to see where Google takes it. You currently do need an Android phone to use and Android Wear watch, but there is talk that Google will open it up to iPhones (if Apple allows it).. The battery last about a day (improving since it released) and it comes with a nice charging stand. The screen is good enough (not a good as some newer watches or the Apple Watch).. but for under $199 I couldn't be more then happy with the overall build of the Moto 360.

This watch is amazing. It's borderline a piece of art. LOVE the way it looks & feels. Quite classy. Everyone who's seen mine compliments it. The leather band it comes with its very high quality. I had a Samsung Gear Live before this, so I knew what to expect from Android Wear. BUT, I definitely like this round screen much for more than the standard square ones. The Black bar on the bottom for the sensors is absolutely no big deal. I don't even notice it. Although this are quite snappy and fluid, I can't help but question the use of TI processor that's a few years old. Why? To save money? Common Moto! This thing would be EVEN BETTER with a Snapdragon 400, not to mention battery life would also be improved. However, my battery life is more than sufficient. A full day of me wearing it, (while awake) is more than enough. Charging it over night is absolutely no issue for me at all. LOVE this watch. And I'm a big watch live, and tech nerd. Hahah

The Moto 360 is a great device for telling time, and it's good for other stuff too! I think there is great potential with Android wear and upcoming apps for this device. The battery life is pretty good (unless you compare it to a pebble watch). I grab it off the charger about 6AM and when I put it back on the charger at about 11PM at night it's usually about 50-60% charge. Likes: * Notifications * Different Watchfaces * Music Controls * Adding to do lists, checking the weather, sending messages and other things (if you can get used to talking to your watch) * Best looking smart watch IMO Dislikes * I set the watch screen to turn off when not active and sometimes it doesn't turn on when I want to see the time. * Heart rate and step counter is off and unreliable * Scared I may scratch or break it because it looks so nice

I purchased this watch and I am very happy that I did. I was going to get a different smart watch but ultimately decided this would be a better deal for me. The watch gets me through the day without having to be recharged. I love the variety of watch faces that I can choose from. So depending on where I am going I can dress the watch up or down & I really like that. I receive all my notifications and all around happy with my decision of buying the Moto 360. I am actually thinking of buying another Moto 360 as I bought the all black but now want the silver and cognac.

I love this watch! It looks great and its convenient when you have a phone the size of the Nexus 6. I love the leather band it comes with as it makes it super comfortable. Sometimes I forget I'm wearing it. I'm a HS teacher, so checking my phone throughout the day (let's face it, we're all addicted) doesn't set a good example for the kids. This watch lets me know silently through a short vibration that I've gotten a new email, FB update, text, hangout msg, twitter, Instagram, etc. As long as its just text, i can read the messages. I can send messages and emails just by talking to it, hands free. This has come in handy when I'm running late or need to ask a quick question while I'm driving. I don't even have to look at it, just say who I'm texting and the msg. It even let's me know when I'm supposed to turn when I'm following directions from the GPS on my phone. You can customize which app notifications you want to know about. It only takes a quick swipe to remove it from your screen. To look at the time/bring your watch to life you just have to tilt your arm towards you like you normally would. The watch knows and so will light up. Like other less expensive watches, of course, it tracks your steps, exercise and heart rate. You can set goals for yourself and it will remind you throughout the day and week to work on them while telling you how close you are. Also, battery is great! I put it on around 7am and put it on the charger around 8 or 9pm and still have about 40% life left. I definitely recommend this watch.

I've enjoyed my first foray into smartwatch ownership so far. I've read and researched reviews, and everything's met my expectations so far. I get over two days use between charges - I really only wear watches when away from home. I've seldom used the voice commands, but they work every time, with the occasional hiccup coming from my car stereo causing my watch to "listen" and try to respond. It has a built in fitness suite of apps, and you can use the more popular fitness apps along with it as well. My favorite feature has to be the customizable watch faces. Even using the stock faces, you can change the background from light to dark, and change the accent color. That way, you can match your watch to what you're wearing! I'v only had ownership for little over a month, and ran into my biggest issue - my watch has developed a crack on the underside of the watch. After looking at articles trying to pinpoint the issue, I made a concerted effort to take care of the watch. And it still cracked. The Achilles heel happened to be that of all the fine craftsmanship, the underside is plastic(!). So it cannot stand much pressure from the point where the band connects to the watch. I really hope they address that with the next version. All in all, I still like the watch. Its not a necessity, but a good accessory for your phone. Now I'm off to try to get this thing replaced...

I originally had the LG G Watch which had great battery life but was a bit bland in design. The Moto 360 looks great and most people don't even think it is a smartwatch. I think it is great that it blends in and is a fashion accessory. There is great attention to detail on the watch and the leather band is of very good quality. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about keeping up with a proprietary charger, ie the LG G Watch. I have a couple of qi chargers and they all charge this watch. The only thing of improvement would be longer battery life and slightly faster processor. The G Watch was smooth where this watch stutters at time. Which is due to the fact that Motorola used a very old processor. A new processor would probably solve the battery life problem too. On my G Watch I would leave the display on and it would last a day and a half. On the Moto 360 it won't last a full day with the display on. Not needed, but another improvement would be an AMOLED screen so the screen would be dimmer with a darker watch face in dark environments.

    Best Android Wear Smartwatch

Loving my Moto 360 so far. I do not typically wear watches, but for some reason, I need to wear my 360 all the time. I have received numerous compliments, especially from iphone users who thought it was the iwatch, later to find out its android and then wishing the iwatch was round instead of square like most of the other smartwatches. Battery life is much better after the last 2 updates. I can get through the whole day with a lot of notifications (email, text, hangouts, google now cards etc). Do I wish the battery life was better, of course. But do I need it to last more than a day, nope. I don't wear my watch to sleep so its easy enough to place it on the wireless charger at the end of the day. The charger is definitely the best smartwatch charger currently out there. Again, It also would've been nice to have the fastest and most recent processor out there, but even with the TI processor, I hardly have any issues with connectivity, lag, receiving notifications or even replying to texts. It is actually pretty accurate when it comes to responding to hangouts and text messages using the watch. In fact, I hardly have issues in places with a lot of loud background noise. Yes, I need to put the watch closer to my face, but that doesn't really look any more weird than talking to your watch in the first place. If you want the better battery and faster processor, go ahead and get the LG gr, but no way you're gonna spend less than $300 on that. That's another great thing with the 360, is the 249 price tag. Well worth it in my opinion. Not so sure about spending 300+ on the LG or Iwatch when it probably does the same thing but just a little bit faster with just a little bit more battery life. Overall, I completely recommend this to anyone that likes Android, likes new technology and likes to wear watches that not only look nice but have multiple uses. I remember walking into a fancy watch store at the forum shops in Vegas and seeing these expensive watches for 1000+. I asked the lady working there, can these watches show you your text or email notifications or can you change the watch face to whatever picture you want? She just laughed and then asked what watch I had. Another thing that I like about the watch is not having to use my phone most of the time. I have terrible signal at work, but I can just leave my phone at my desk where I get some signal, and walk around my classroom receiving my notifications. It saves the battery on my phone and it's a whole lot better than taking my phone out every time I get a notification. Yes, you can do this with any smartwatch, but does it look as good as the 360? Doubtful. Also changing watch faces with the Facer app is even better with the sleek look of the 360. The step counter does not seem as accurate, but I have a Fitbit anyways so I do not really use the 360 for that.

The Moto 360 initially underwhelmed when it was launched last year, with poor battery life and a sub-standard screen cooling the fire of expectation as the first round-faced smartwatch. Motorola has responded, improving its longevity and releasing a host of colour and strap options that bring this device to life. With Android Wear on board, excellent notifications and a growing range of quality apps, it comes highly recommended and, thanks to the new Moto Maker platform, customising a 360 is easier than ever. And a hefty price-cut makes it the best value Android Wear device on the market

I wasn't too interested in the Moto360 or any smart watch when it was at full price but once it dropped to $149.99 I decided to jump on it. The watch looks very sexy and I love how you can change watch faces very easily. I always get asked if it is an Apple Watch and I just laugh. I recommend this watch even though the new Moto 360 is probably coming out soon. The only bummer is the black strip at the bottom, i believe people refer to it as the "flat tire". You can use pebble watch bands on this watch.

I recently purchased the black version of the Moto 360 and have been happy with the smart watch. And so I decided to buy the Stone Leather version for my significant other. Both my partner and I have been interested in entering the Android Wear game and decided that the Moto 360 would be the one to get. After doing some research among other Android Wear devices, and my experience with the Moto 360, my partner decided to go with the Moto 360 as well. The design, specifications, and general battery life were some of things that my partner considered. My partner works in the medical field. So often times, the phone cannot be checked from time to time. The Moto 360 is a great product to keep you connected to your phone, your texts, emails, and notifications, and to keep organized. While the Moto 360 is one of the better Android Wear devices with battery life, my partner configured the brightness on the lowest setting. And under bright sunlight conditions, the display is still vivid and barely glares. After long hours at work, the smart watch can surprisingly get through the day. Since the most recent 5.1.1 Android update, the smart watch has become more stable and more feature packed. We would definitely recommend this smart watch as an entry into the Android Wear family.

    A Great Looking Prototype

    |
    |
    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm an early adopter, and I tend to be on the bleeding edge of technology. I have not owned a watch of any kind for about 10 years. The Moto 360 was the smartwatch I was most excited about when it was announced, and I ordered it the first day it was available. I've had the watch for about a week now and feel like I can give a fair review. The short version: this is a well designed prototype. It looks great, it's light, and if you really want a smartwatch, this is the one to get. However, it's definitely an unfinished, first-run product. The hardware is decent but not great, the software is ok but needs polishing, and the battery life is ... well, it's not good. Let's start with design. This is a great looking watch. I have had a number of people who have remarked how nice the watch looks and how well designed it is. I'm not big into fashion or design, but I do think the round watch face does make it look a little more classy than the square watch faces. The leather strap is well made and comfortable, and the watch is light. There are a number of times where I forget that the watch is on my wrist. Overall, it's a great looking watch that doesn't stand out (in a good way). One thing that has been noted is the "flat-tire" look of the display. The ambient light sensor is housed in a very small portion of the bottom of the screen that cuts off part of the bottom of the display. Is it annoying? Yeah, a little. It does cut off some of the watch faces, which is disappointing. Is it a deal breaker? Not for me. The watch looks just fine and for the most part, I stopped noticing it after a day. On the display, it is noticeably not high def. That may sound petty, but it doesn't look particularly sharp, and the colors do look a little cold and muted. I have an LG G3 which has the best display on the market, and the watch looks downright ugly when compared to that screen. Granted, it's not really a fair comparison, and in every day use, it's not a huge deal. Still, hopefully future iterations will improve the resolution on the watch faces (which I expect Motorola will). Functionally, it gets the job done and even with the lower resolution, it still does look ok. It could be a bit sharper. I've found that in everyday use, the thing i like most is being able to quickly respond to texts and notifications. With Android Wear, as long as you're using a compatible messaging program (Hangouts and Textra are two that are), you can read, reply, and mark texts as read straight from the watch. This has been incredibly useful when driving. I can activate the watch and send the text just with voice and without really needing to look at the watch. It does take some getting used to talking to your wrist, but ultimately the functionality is great. The fitness tracking with the heart rate monitor and pedometer is very good. The software still needs to mature. Aside from a few apps that have some functionality on the watch (flashcards with Duolingo, for example), it's essentially just a faster way to get your notifications. I expect that to change in the next few months, especially with Android L coming out, but be aware that if you're getting the watch now, that's what your getting. By far the most disappointing part of the watch is battery life. So far in my use case where I use the watch an average amount during the day (maybe once or twice an hour plus glances for the time), I have had to charge my watch at least once if not twice a day. Now, the good news is the watch charges really fast. In my experience, it's gone from about 15% to 100% in around an hour. So it doesn't take long to charge. But this is not an all day watch, even with ambient mode off (i.e. the watch face turns off when it's not being used). It's very easy to charge. I have a qi wireless charger along with the dock, and I keep one at home and one at work, and both charge the watch easily and quickly. But if you're looking for a smartwatch that lasts more than 12 hours, this is going to be a tough sell. Now to the ultimate question: should you buy this watch? In its current form, I'd find it very hard to recommend to a friend. Now, I actually really enjoy using this watch. I'm giving it a high rating because it is a good, above-average smartwatch. But with its current features and functionality, unless you're looking for a fitness guru or an early adopter, you will probably be disappointed. There's simply not a lot that this watch does yet. Again, that will probably change in a few months, but when you're thinking about a relatively large investment in a time piece, you may want to wait for either a price drop or the next iteration when they hardware will likely improve, the battery life will hopefully improve, and the software will mature. There's also the Apple Watch to look out for, and if you're an iOS user, that's going to be your only option as the Moto 360 and other Android Wear watches are only Android compatible. Now, if you're dead set on getting a smartwatch and you're an Android user, this is the watch to get. It's stylish, well designed, and does have some functionality that is useful if not must-have. I've been very happy with it so far and if you're a user that fits within its current limited audience, I think you will too.

Looks are great even if it was not a smart watch! I get lots of looks on the customization of the faces and use the spotify link to my phone to control my music at home and the office from my wrist. Battery life has improved to 40-55% left after a 12 hour plus day of extensive use. Takes some getting used to the controls, but now it's great. Especially for combining a watch and fitbit style device all into one.

I would give this 3 and a half stars if I could. Let me first start off by saying I love the concept and idea of a smart watch. And I really DID NOT need to buy one. I just wanted to treat myself to a gift. Heres my Pros and Cons to the Moto 360 Pros: the watch vibrates on each new notification you receive on your android phone so if your in a meeting or a loud environment, you can feel (and not hear) the watch vibrating., you can also change the watch interface to your own picture and customize the font, etc., you can reply back to text messages and Facebook messages by talking into the watch (see also my comment in the cons section about this), its got a heart monitor and tracks your steps Now for some Cons: Talking to your watch to reply to texts looks stupid and I would never do it if I'm in public., Sometimes when I try replying back, I get "Google cannot be reached" although I am on great reception., Unfortunately you cannot answer calls with your watch THEN talk to people (there is no speaker in the watch) , The battery lasts a day on normal use. You need to have the included wireless charging dock to charge it. So in essence, I feel like ill keep the watch but I don't know if I absolutely love it.

While this is not an actual phone on your wrist, it is a very capable and time saving tool that can be used anywhere in almost any situation one finds themselves in. Even underwater. If your hands are full and you need to check what time you should take the chicken in the oven out by... Just ask.... If you need to text your daughter and tell her you'll be late picking her up from school because of traffic... Just say... OK Google... Text (daughters name).... I'm running a little late should be there by 12... And that's it. All this is done without ever having to pick up your phone, put in a password, open your messaging app, go to the right text thread, type the message(correct the typo) then send the message all while trying to keep track of the Blue Volkswagen Beetle that keeps stopping in front you every half mile for no reason. Check the weather, define a new word you just heard, get directions, find out store hours, call the pharmacy... ALL without having to pick up your phone... It's amazingly simple... And whole time you have a beautiful watch that also tells time. One can't go wrong with a watch that tells time...

    Best Android Wear watch

Tried out other watches before I decided on the Moto 360. It's definitely the best looking one out there. Android Wear (or smartwatches in general) still has a ways to go to be relevant IMHO. It's more of a novelty at this point as there are limited things you can do with it. That being said, I find the Moto 360 useful in that you don't have to reach for your phone every time there's a new notification. More and more apps are starting to integrate Android Wear and that's a plus. The recent update to 5.0 does add some useful features such as wifi support but it does drain the battery faster. You still need to connect the watch via Bluetooth as well so that drains your phone's battery faster. Overall, I do like this watch and would recommend it to the tech savvy user.
