Happy to have a 5G phone, with all the new/additional features. I'm also happy for Best Buy's big discount, and big savings to me. My only wish is for my moto edge 5G to have broader screen.

One of the most balanced phones I have ever had. Great battery life, lasting 2 full days of moderate use (Texting, 4 hours of calls a day, internet browsing, youtube, and Netflix) I have a few games I play but nothing crazy, battery obviously drains faster playing games but still can get a day and a half with HEAVY use. great sound quality, Bluetooth signal, wifi, and cell reception are all good. (No 5g in my area yet) Good storage space, and very good quality screen. Well worth more than the asking price.

Hit or Miss screen problems but Real.

The screen problem is a hit or miss. I think the screen quality control was either not done or bungled. I bought two of these phones on the release date and I had to return one in less than a week for exchange. I sat in direct sunlight while using the phone and suddenly noticed greyish discoloration originating from lower third of the display edge on the left side of the phone. This looked as if the screen lighting was dying. The discoloration changed between grey and pink and seemed to expand, involving more areas into the main screen. I left the direct sunlight and the screen problem improved but never went away. It would intermittently enlarge and shrink, with the color changes between grey and pink. I decided to return the phone for exchange after about 24 hours of persistence, thinking that I just got bad luck. The brand new exchange did the same when exposed in the middle console of my car but to a lesser extent and completely goes away. I think the screens, or some batches of the screen had fundamental errors that were not detected during manufacturing and afterwards during quality control. Motorola should hold the screen vendor accountable and in turn compensate those of us with the defective product. The fingerprint sensor on the screen is a joke. It is faster to unlock the phone using the 4 digit number. I enrolled and re-enroll multiple fingerprints, hoping the problem was with the process. Still takes an average of four tries to unlock the phone. I just go straight to using the 4 digit codes. This may be related to defect on the screen as well. WiFi calling works on TMobile but I have no direct way of turning it on if automatic connection does not work. Only solution is to restart the phone and then it connects. Apart from the above deficiencies, other functions like call quality, functions, gestures, storage, camera and the rest are above average.

The phone has a beautiful screen and is very fast. A couple of potential drawbacks. The screen is really curved. If you like the Galaxy S7 plus, you will love this phone, but if curved screens aren't your thing, you may want to look elsewhere.

Don't purchase this phone! My father needed a new phone and at the time I recommended he purchase this one since he's been using Motorola smartphones since the original Moto X. We pre-ordered the phone and it arrived in the mail around the release date. The 5G feature was an added benefit since he was on T-Mobile and 5G was available in our area. After 2 weeks the screen started to fail by not handling colors correctly. Took it back to Best Buy and they confirmed the phone was defective. Traded this in for the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G.

I am very impressed with this device. When I first used a Motorola phone again, it was an inexpensive model... A "one action". I didn't appreciate the Moto interface until I purchased the edge. It has been VERY interactive and helpful once you get used to the smart bar at the bottom and how to close out an app with a swipe in the middle of the screen. I was happy to see my new handset download and update to the Android 11! I had an LG G8 thinq before this one. I received a good deal! $499.99

For the price you can't get a better 1st Gen 5g phone. Connects seamlessly to 5g (Cleveland, OH area on T-Mobile). 256 gigs unassisted is more than enough getting started, and being expandable to 1T is a nice bonus. Screen quality is great, digitizer works up to the edges of the screen as expected. Cameras are great at base use, 6x zoom renders expected fuzziness, but nothing excessive. Runs games/programs to the level you would expect from flagship. Overall great phone, only (minor) wish is that they offered without the curved screen. Not a bad thing, just personal opinion. Would recommend over the $1k+ 5g phones offered by the main competitors.

Screen Issues Make This Great Phone A Trap!

I wish I would have done more research, but the green tint issue, the purple splotch issues, and the edge haze issues make getting this phone too much of a risk. DO NOT BUY. I had the phone and right out of the box it had a very slight green haze on edge as the phone curved down. I didn't think much of it as I have never had a screen like this. I went online and saw that the support forums are filled with screen posts. So many screen issues and nothing seems to stop it. Even after the software update, still had screen issues. Customers getting their 1st, 2nd, 3rd replacement are still getting issues. Moto/Lenova has shown they don't really care about the product as they haven't issued a recall. I will say so much about the phone is great, it is snappy, it is beautiful design. The camera is sub par even coming from a Pixel 3. I have owned many motorolas, but haven't bought one as their design and phones have really lagged the past 5 years. The Motorola Edge gave me hope, but they didn't test this enough and are hoping that people just move past this.

I wanted so badly to like this phone but it just doesn't quite work well enough. The moto actions are amazing but their Android overlay is clunky and outdated. The camera wasn't really as good as Motorola makes it sound. The pictures just weren't as good as they should have been from a phone is this price category. The huge curve to the edge of the screen provides little beyond accidental touches.

A large majority of my complaints about this phone come from how my hand interacts with the curved edge of the screen and makes me accidentally activate things on the screen I didn't intend to tap. Additionally, accessories for this phone are very difficult to find. No tempered glass screen protectors that last more than a week, no cases besides the one that came with it in the box, and every search on Google turns up results for the Edge Plus. There's practically no aftermarket support, and most sites won't even take it as a trade-in. It's almost as if this phone doesn't exist. Overall, I think the phone is too large for my preferences and occasionally, the phone will freeze up and refuse to react to anything for a short while, and without cases and screen protectors, it's only a matter of time before this phone becomes a liability.

Very satisfied with this phone. I prefer Motorola for the minimal changes they make to Android compared to other manufacturers. Motorola also has features that I enjoy, like certain gesture controls. The build quality is very good and it looks great. Don't really care for the curved screen, but it's not a deal breaker. The fingerprint scanner is one of the best I've ever used. Great battery life which is the reason I initially gravitated to Motorola.

My previous phone was a Samsung A20 and this phone destroys it so far. The screen response is brilliant, it instantly picks up my touch. I have read the reviews and wonder if maybe the two bad green spot reviews may have been caused by the night light feature. So far, my screen has worked perfectly. The A20 often had major delays in response to being touched, major as in I would touch it 10 or more times before it picked up or responded to my touch or I'd touch it once and it would respond 10 or 20 seconds later with no other apps open. This phone responds instantly, the camera is good, and I am getting 4 bars were the Samsung was lucky to get two in the same location. So far, I love this phone, may be the best phone I have had since my ASUS Zen phone or the Windows phone I had in 2016 which I think was a 950XL by Microsoft. Much better than the iPhone I had also.

The only problem with this Motorola Edge 5G is the Google search bar while on mobile data. If you unlock this phone and try to search for something using the Google search bar.. it says your offline over and over... if you wait like 15 seconds and try again.. it then searches, that is very annoying as no other previous phone has done that. On wifi it will search on the first try.. if they can provide an update soon to correct that problem, ill stick with it.. if not, on to the next.

If you can tolerate a phone that is disproportionally too tall and too narrow this may be a good choice. The case is very slick and slides out of your hand. A 20 dollar phone ”condom” solves the problem and makes the phone easier to use. It seems study and well built. Battery life is good, roughly a day and a half of normal use. I'm not a gamer, but the processor speed is more than sufficient for my "business" use and surfing. Camera is not the highest resolution but it takes good pictures with multiple lenses. Very good signal quality. Good screen resolution and fast screen refresh. I'd give it a 5 but for it's wired shape which results in smaller character size as compared with conventional format smart phones.
