Does not work with Mint Mobile as Advertised by BB

Bought this phone that says it works with Mint Mobile at Best Buy for a birthday gift for my daughter and when I tried to activate it, Mint Mobile said it is locked by manufacturer. When I went to return it, the person that I dealt with as management was apathetic about it and not wanting to help solve the issue. He ended up calling and a few phones advertised on display at Best Buy also don't work with Mint despite the sign on display.

Budget friendly phone with plenty of storage

I've been using this phone for about 2 months now and I'm happy with it and I'm ready to write this review. I researched for a while and had been eyeing this phone for a few months and when the price dropped $150, I knew it was time to make the purchase since the phone was now in my budget (I wanted to spend no more than $300 total including purchasing cases and screen protector). I was previously using a Moto G4 Plus 64GB (plus 128GB micro SD) which lasted me almost 6 years! The battery performance was not the greatest anymore and I needed more storage. I'm hoping this new phone will last me for many years to come. I'm not the type to constantly change phones since it's a hassle. As long as I have enough storage and battery power, I'll stick to it until I absolutely need to get a new one. I also purchased a 256GB micro SD card to transfer the old contents to this new phone (having external memory was a priority for me. My SD card has pictures, videos, music & documents from 4 different phones over the last 10 years (I keep upgrading the storage size of the card). I just pop the card in and everything carries over and I don't have to rely on or pay for cloud storage). Even without using any external storage, the 256GB internal memory on this phone should be sufficient for the average person. Can't beat the price for this much storage. The one thing I did notice what that this screen is not as bright as my old phone which I'm still trying to adjust to. I usually keep my screen brightness on the lower end and this phone is a lot dimmer. In order to match the 'low brightness' from my old phone, I'd have to set this phone's brightness all the way up. Other than the brightness issue, I don't find any issues with clarity when viewing videos or pictures. The main downfall for this phone is that it only comes with a slow 10W charger which doesn't activate the built in TurboPower charging capability. My old phone came with a 15W TurboPower charger and that was a game changer compared to my older phones I've used and I vowed to myself that my next phone had to have some kind of fast charging capability. Unfortunately the old charger didn't activate the TurboPower on the new phone (with using the USB-C to USB-A cable). Luckily I did a lot of research and ordered a 20W PD charger and USB-C to USB-C cable and it activated the TurboPower but it was still charging slower than I would like but definitely faster than the one that came with the phone. I had also ordered a 33W PD car charger in a separate purchase and noticed that my phone was charging much faster in the car so I ordered a 33W PD charger for home use and now the charging speed is much more acceptable. I just wish I didn't have to spend extra money in order to get this built in feature to work as it should when the phone should've shipped with a TurboPower capable charger and cable. Camera quality I good, it's not going to be the best like any flagship phone but that's to be expected for the price of the phone. I'm a picture taking person (of people, animals, scenery and random things) and I'm happy with what I have. I already see an improvement in my pictures with this phone compared to my old phone (and I already thought that phone's camera was pretty good). I do wish this phone came with a wide angle lens in addition to the dedicated macro lens. I don't really care for the placement of the speaker at the bottom of the phone, I have to adjust how I hold the phone because my left thumb typically covers it when the phone is held vertically. Actually even the headphone jack is on the bottom of the phone too but I use Bluetooth ear buds so that placement doesn't bother me but now I can't use my pretty gem "dust plugs" that have (my old phone's jack was on top and I'd plug in a dust plug that looks like a small gem and it was always a conversation starter of what it was and what it did). The fingerprint reader is very responsive and it's pretty accurate. It did take a few weeks for me to adjust to that placement location since my old phone's fingerprint reader was at the bottom of the screen so it was much easier to access especially when my phone was on a surface. The vibrations on this phone is much weaker than my old phone which is a downfall. My phone is on vibrate 100% of the time (I've always preferred it that way) and I do miss a lot of notifications if it wasn't for my Fitbit Sense notifying my of calls, texts and certain alerts. I guess a softer vibration is better in some scenarios (my old phone was super loud compared to this one) but it would be nice to be able to adjust the vibration intensity. Battery power is refreshing when I only need to charge my phone a minimum of once a day with heavy use. I can probably go 1.5 days on a single charge with lighter use. I'm trying to really be good with this phone and not constantly keeping it on the charger while using it and now only charging to 85% instead to aiming for the full 100%. My old phone's battery was draining so fast that I would have to charge it multiple times a day, it wouldn't even last a 8-9 hour work day when I would only use my phone during lunch. I'd always have to carry an external power bank wherever I go but now I don't have to which makes my purse a little bit lighter. Overall I've touched on the features that are important to me and while this phone has some misses, the overall features and performance suits my needs for this budget phone.

The Motorola Moto G 5G 256GB (2022 Unlocked) in Moonlight Gray is a budget-friendly smartphone that offers a good balance of features and affordability. With 256GB of storage, it provides ample space for apps, photos, and videos. The 5G capability is a standout feature, ensuring fast data speeds for streaming and browsing. The phone's performance is decent, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It can handle everyday tasks without significant hiccups. The design, finished in Moonlight Gray, is sleek and modern. The 6.7-inch display is large and vibrant, making it enjoyable for media consumption and gaming. The phone's battery life is respectable, lasting a full day with moderate usage. One of the drawbacks is that the camera performance, while serviceable, may not compete with flagship devices. Additionally, the build quality is more plastic than premium, but that's expected in this price range. In conclusion, the Motorola Moto G 5G 256GB is a solid choice for those looking for a budget-friendly 5G smartphone with ample storage. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of higher-end devices, it delivers a satisfying user experience and good value for the price.

While this is an excellent budget phone with very good storage level, and the ability to add an SD card, there are two missing features that keep it from being an excellent phone. There's no built in NFC capability, and the screen quality is above average but not great. I got this as a budget replacement for a damaged phone. It's speed and cameras are good enough for most folks, and you will save a lot of money over the "heavy hitters" but it's definitely not a flagship phone. Great as a second phone for emergencies or even as a first phone for a son or daughter (except for those who are iPhone folks)

So far so good! Ive always been more of an Apple products guy in the past but ever since working at Verizon for a couple years & becoming familiar with the android platform it's opened up more options when it comes to the phones & tablets I feel comfortable buying. So when its time to upgrade or to just buy some new tech because the old Iphone I had been using was on life support, android definitely has a much wider selection of phones and price ranges to pick from them Apple. However out of all those phones & price ranges available there are only two manufactures that I like & really trust, those being Samsung & Motorola ! Samsung is hands down way ahead of everyone else running the Android software, especially in their S line of phones, but If your looking for a $300-$400 dollar phone that will hold its own with much more expensive phones then Motorola is hands down the place to start looking in my opinion. Especially if your looking to just buy your phone outright and bypass the upgrade fees and monthly phone payments Verizon will hit you with when you go to them to upgrade your phone.Since 2018 I've had 3 phones and two of them have been Motorola, the other an Iphone & when it comes down to comparing everything on paper....Motorola just makes more since to me. I'm pretty hard on my phones and I have to give Moto a big high five because their phones will take a beating and just brushed it off, where as apple( and their getting better each year) would have probably been in pieces a while back if it would have went through the abuse my old Moto did. So this time around I had to go back and get another Moto because I'm working in a hazardous environment to phones & wanted to make sure I would be ok with whatever phone I picked. Also Moto hasn't given me any other issues with their phones that I didn't cause myself so I knew it would run good, wouldn't lag, it came with 256gb internal memory, a large 6.5" screen with a good picture, and their solid, they don't feel cheap or light when you pick them up, so yeah that's the story of why I bought the Moto G 5G .... Plus I have to smile knowing Verizon isnt going to get their normal upgrade fee and monthly phone payments on my bill, I win! Maybe next year I'll let you get me into a $1000+ phone....we'll have to see what this next iphone can do first??!

I got this device due to needing to trade in my iPhone. That's about to reach the chopping block because of Apple. If you're going to purchase, I really don't recommend putting the money down unless you know what you're getting into The device comes with Android 12. It got its February security patch and have yet to see another security patch to come along. It's not a bad device. In fact, it's just that if you're getting this as a main driver, I wouldn't find yourself a better device or a device that you can find on sale pros. It has a micro SD card slot which is rare. It is definitely a fairly snappy device and for one speaker it is loud cons. If you drop in the water it's over. It's toast. It only has one speaker. I read online it only has 6 gigs of internal ram. It does only slaves to get maybe 2 years of updates. Lastly and another you never know when the security updates are to come through. Motorola is known for it. Was it slower in devices and it doesn't have wireless charging. So if you're going to get a device that costs literally $400, why not pay another $100 and get the pixel 7A which blows his device clean out of the water security updates and all pro for it? And the last pro is his internal storage. That's it

The smartphone is excellent for its price, and its camera surpasses even dedicated cameras. As always, I appreciate the user-friendly and memorable actions that Motorola has incorporated. For instance, the chopping motion to toggle the phone's flashlight or the three-finger swipe on the screen to capture a screenshot are both ingenious and practical interactions. There are several other cool and highly useful features on the phone. I would certainly recommend this phone to anyone seeking a fantastic device at a reasonable price—credit goes to Best Buy for the price I paid.

Migrated back to Motorola phones after usine a Oneplus 8 device. The start-up and recovery of data and apps from the old phone worked well. The phone is fast, the display is clear, and the camera seems to work well with several improvements from the old Moto camera. Note the charge is slow, almost like a trickle charge, but the batters will last two days under normal use. Motorola does not provide a lot of ringtone options, and these options are not too exciting.

I can't really think of anything to complain about this phone. 6g of RAM is enough to do whatever task I need to do and with 256g of storage I don't have to worry about running out of space. What amazed me the most about this phone is the extra long battery life. It is my first motorola phone but with the moto app I was able to learn how to use it fairly fast. I really like the gestures where you quickly twist it twice to turn the camera on and two chopping motions to turn the flashlight on. There is also an option to block spam calls and so far, it seems to be working.

The Moto G 5G is faster than my last phone and takes better pictures. The battery charges fairly fast, and has a long life between charges. It has much more storage capacity than my previous phone. The price was very good and I had a Best Buy credit that made it even better. The case is too slippery, but I think that applies to all cell phones. I'm still learning the phone's whistles and bells, but I give it two thumbs up.

The phone itself is excellent. I love it! Lots of space, great camera, easy to use, awesome sound, etc. I bought it as an open box buy excellent, which it was not. Open buy excellent states that it will include ALL items for it to work as new. A brand new charging cable (in the box) was included but both ends were USB-C connections no regular USB end. When I called I was told I'd have to go to the local store (which is over 50 miles away each way) and have them give me the correct cord. I'd spend more on gas and insurance (I pay car insurance based on how many miles I drive) than a cord cost. They could have easily remedied the situation but refused. It's ashame because I will not purchase anything from them again after this and I frequently bought from them. I just bought an expensive tv a couple months ago as well as numerous other items but to me customer service is just as important a the quality of products and they failed.

The Motorola G 5G (2022) is a solid midrange phone....something that Motorola does very well. It is fast enough, the screen is nice enough, the cameras are nice enough, the battery lasts a long time, the Motorola android experience is always fantastic. If you don't want to spend the $$$ for a flagship, this is a solid contender for an above average phone.

The screen is large enough to put many of the apps that I used in my previous Motorola. The Sound is really great and the Battery is long lasting. Picked up this phone about a week ago. Highly recommend. I bought for the headphone jack, fm tuner, and 48 hour battery. I like the option of fm tuner instead of being stuck on an unlimited data plan. Great battery life 40 to 48 hours is realistic. Has a quick processor for loading apps and web pages, although I am not a gamer. Screen quality is quite good, although it is lcd not oled like Samung A53 and Pixel 6a. I tried some movies like 007 Casino Royale which looked very good. Voice Quality on Verizon was very good. Highly recommend, although many blogs do thing the A53 is a better value. Love the battery life and storage. Camera is great on outdoor pictures although I am sure Pixel phones can beat it.

This phone, it's not one of the best besides all the new gen Phones that are out. I ordered this phone in June 2023 and I'm still using it today. The camera is really good I didn't expect it to be this effective. It doesn't heat up. Not for me. Got Plenty space available. It did fall from my hand tons of times And it doesn't even have a scratch, with or without case. Still tuff. In fact Water fell on it 3 or 4 times in the past month was a bit worried but it still working very well. And also let's not even talk about charging this phone. Take 15 percent in less than 10 min. Should I be worried?????? But anyways. I only wish the camera was even better cause I use it to take pictures of art pieces sometimes. And its not disappointing me but it could've been better.

I would recommend this to a friend
