Customers are pleased with the sound quality, ease of use, and range of the MOTO-L704C DECT 6.0 Expandable Phone System. Many appreciate the system's clear audio and simple setup. However, some users find accessing voicemail messages inconvenient due to limitations on the base unit. The lack of a clear message indicator is also a point of concern for some customers.

It is OK but not great. I give it 3 stars.

It seems very good EXCEPT that when I put the 3 portable phones back onto its cradle, it doesn't always show the lines going up and down which means it is not on properly. I have to do it a few times to make sure, otherwise it is not charging. I even wipe the metal connectors but I shouldn't have to do that every time. Also, the battery life is not as good as my other portable phones. It does dead in about 3 days instead of 5-7 days when not charged. Also, no flashing light to say that we have a message and the light that does show that we have a message is very dim.

This is a nice phone set that has worked well in my home office, it was easy to set up. It is one of the few sets I found which included a corded phone in addition to the 3 cordless handsets, reasonably priced, good reception.

Overall these phones are much better than the previous ones I had bought from Best Buy. Motorolla is a good product and worth the investment.

I do like that they are durable but they are also pretty basic and do not like the fact you can not get messages from the base answering unit.

I like this phone. There are a couple of things that are a disipointment, first ther is no way to tell if there is a message unless you actually look at phone screen which will indicate there is a NEW one even if you kept an old one. I replaced my old system which would blink when there was a new message so you knew as soon as you walked in the door. Second once in a while sound echo's or humms not all the time other than those two things ive been very happy with phones and main reason I replaced it is Base phone works even if power is out, which is a safety issue I had with my old phone it did not no power no phone so I very much like this phone just for that fact!

* Caveat is that i don't use the phones that often
Really like the phones. Has cool features like setting a name for the phone/room it's in and using them to "call" (not actual outgoing call) other rooms in the house instead of yelling up/down stairs. Good design with rubber around the outside in case of a drop. Sound quality is good and like that it comes with a wired base station in case power goes out.
Great for those who use cell phone for most things. I would have given a 5 but I don't use it that often.

This phone is a disappointment to me because you cannot access your messages from the base unit. They can only be retrieved from a handset. I've never had a unit to be like this before. Very poor design. If a handset was misplaced or batteries were low, you could not get your messages. I do not care for the type of "ringer" the base has...it is only musical and not a ring tone. Some features are good while others are not so good. If I had bought this from the store, I would have taken it back but I ordered it as a "Deal of the Day" value. I do like the size and comfort of the handsets and the base is a nice size, althought the screen is a little too small to read easily,

We have owned Uniden, Panasonic, Sony and now Motorola cordless phones. The best sound quality is this one. The features are nice; the phone book could be larger. We like the feature that lets us name each handset with the room it belongs in so when all three end up on the same table we know where to return them. Haven't tested them for range by cruising the neighbourhood but they're solid in the house where it matters. We'll discuss durability in a few years since all our previous phones failed within 3 years.

I expected more

This a pretty good, basic phone. However, I expected more from Motorola. The keypad does not light up (huge bummer when lights are off). I have not yet tried to retrieve messages from base unit, but if I can't (like the other review stated), then that is a bummer. I like having a corded base unit - one unit that can't be lost in our house. The handsets seem quit durable. Overall, I think there are better phones for the price. We also have Vtech and Uniden cordless phones - both have pros and cons.

I love the phone, works alot better than my other cordless phones have worked. the only thing I can't figure out is how to delete from the base but I can delete from the other phones with no problem.

Got this set on the Deal of the Day from Bestbuy.
No problems so far. There's a bit of a hiss - or a high pitched whine - on the line sometimes, but that's likely due to some kind of ingress near the base unit or something to do with the channel. It's infrequent enough that I haven't even bothered to find and resolve the issue.
I never use the base unit, but the handsets are intuitive. There's 2 notifications for voice mail - one for the mail system in the phone itself and one for the line based voice mail (which is what I use) from the phone company. Ring options are pretty average and what you'd expect. Features are average.. it's a cheap phone system with everything you'd normally see and no significant defects that I've encountered. Worth buying.

These Motorola phones are very well made, full of necessary functionality, and ergonomic. They easily fit in your pocket when working outside.
The only drawback is the documentation - there is no quick search index to find instructions, but the instructions are clearly written.

Not loving my phones

These phones are not well designed. One handset does not work- only some of the buttons actually function when they are pressed. The keypads are not lit, so calling in dim light is a bit annoying. Using the functions are not very intuitive, in fact they are the opposite. I usually keep all my boxes from electronics 'just in case', of course this box was tossed or I would have returned it in the first week or two. Definitely not worth the little I saved getting it as the 'deal of the day'-
