Customers are saying

Customers highly value the Moto X (4th Generation) for its excellent camera, affordable price, and long battery life. Many users appreciate that it is unlocked, waterproof, and easy to use. However, some customers have concerns about its limited internal storage, durability issues after extended use, and speaker volume.

I've had this phone for over 2-years and it's excellent. I added 128GB microSD card for additional storage. After all this time it still works/performs well, including battery life. I bought this unlocked which I highly recommend, not tied to a contract and no bloatware installed, clean version of Android OS. The camera could be better, it's a little slow and sometimes crashes but take good pics and video. Night pictures are below average, but I guess OK for a mid-range phone.

I purchased this phone as a replacement for my wife's Nexus 5X, which she complained was getting slow. She loves her new Moto X. She claims the battery lasts for days. It is fast and looks great in a translucent case, which shows off the glass back. I like the IP68 waterproof rating, which is as good as it gets for phones. I could not recommend this phone enough. I only wish they made a version with a larger screen, because I would be all over it for myself.

i love this phone. so much so, i bought my mom moto g6 to replace her old phone. all the necessities without having to pay top price for. samsung, lg, apple... all great but way too expensive. people like me, who are just an average daily phone user, should be more than satisfied with what these moto phones can do. unlocked helped a whole lot too. easier to hop different mobile companies whenever there are great deals.

I bought one and my boyfriend bought one at the same time. My phone has been decent for about 1.5 years. It's starting to lag even with clearing caches and trying to keep storage on the phone to a minimum. My boyfriend's mic went out after about a year and the phone was useless for him since he needed to be able to talk on calls for his job. This also happened to a friend who bought this phone, but his mic didn't last 6 months. If that wasn't an issue, it would be worth it to buy if you're good with having a phone for almost 2 years without a problem.

Loved my Moto X2, but no more OS updates, battery starting to fail. The Moto X4 came along at just the right time. The right features, price and unlocked.

Am pretty impressed by this phone. What I appreciate the most are: 1-screen colors and sharpness are great 2-Battery life good. Will last all day. 3-Turbo charger allows for very fast recharging 4-very snappy processor. Everything seems fast. 5-Camera phenomenal. Beautiful photos. Awesome low light pictures. Selective focus is pretty neat

I had a lot of doubt about a Motorola phone because I had one some years back. But this phone is great. The video are so clear and clear. The phone is fast and it is a very pretty color. I would purchase Motorola again.

picked up this phone because i am not into buying 1000 dollar phones and signing another contract. works very fast and battery last for days. everything i need in a phone so i'm very pleased. i did get a case and tempered glass to protect the glassy surface (very nice looking) but i do this with all phones. money well spent.

I'm a little disappointed in the newest generation x phone. I had a 2nd generation x and loved it. Some of the things I loved about that phone, they did not carry over to the new phone. My favorite perk on the 2nd generation x was that you could take a picture by touching anywhere on the phone's screen. On the x4, you have to touch the circle like every other phone. Also, there is no real choice in the color. I designed my own 2nd generation. Yes the camera is better and it has thumbprint security, I just think they should have kept the other perks of the old phone also. Overall, this is a good phone.

Bought the X4- G4 in March of '18. With a rubberized cover it has lasted very well, aside from a still unexplainable broken lense of the main camera incurred in the last few days. This phone was very much on par with all but the cutting edge/highest end cells a avalible at the time and is still as fast or faster than most owned by people I encounter or know. I haven't found an Android app it isn't capable of running, and with a good personal SD installed, has great memory functionality. Service is on par with most, the real differences being in the carrier, not the phone, video and audio playback are great, and loading time is 0 unless the site or platform is slow. Overall, with a good case (an absolute must, as the phone is very slick and will spit out of your hands in the first 30 seconds!) and a reasonably large capacity SD card, this phone will do whatever you need or want and at the fraction of the price, will stand with or dust newer phones. Killer phone for the price I paid, and they're far cheaper now.

At full-price (around $399 at the moment of this review) this phone might a bit overpriced, considering the lower Moto G5S+ and the upper Moto Z, but if you get it with a discount (when I buy it both the Moto G5S+ and MotoX4 had the same price) it's a no-brainer, as it's (little) differences really stand out. The only thing that really made me think a little was the fact that this phone comes in only one version (3GB/64GB) compared to the MotoGS5+ (3/64 and 4/128). At this point I think it's a matter of personal taste. I don't usually used that much of internal storage so the 64GB wheren't that much of a problem. I would strongly recommend to get a case for this one as the glass back gets easilly filled of fingerprints

I know many people swear by the i-Phone but this is a great cell phone that does everything you'd want including great pictures with the camera. It has a very long lasting battery, charges fast. The best feature is the price which is about 30 % of the equivalent i-Phone.

I have only had Motorola phones so I try to stick to them so I don't have to learn how to use another brand. I bought this phone on sale for only $229 to replace my 2 year old Moto Z Play. I do not like or want to get into some payment scheme/loan with the mobile phone provider and prefer to pay a reasonable price outright for a phone. This phone is smooth and easy to use. The battery is pretty good but not as good as some other phones. It will easily last all day for me with moderate use. One of the reasons I chose it was because it was smaller than many of the other options which makes it easy to carry and its use much more convenient. Bottom line is I would highly recommend it for what I use it for which is phone calls, texting, internet, and Netflix/streaming. I can't think of any reason I would rather pay $20-$35+ per month for another phone that does the same thing.

I have had this about a year and not a scratch on it! It has the best gorilla Corning glass I have ever seen. I/O is updated very regularly & fairly quick as far as screen swipes go. Upgradeable to 2tb on SD card and usb-C power connection is very nice change fo charging. I would only saw one downside is it speaker phone volume, not as loud as other, maybe because it's a waterproof phone also. Not sure if that's why but may be because my brother has a Moto without waterproof ability, and it's much louder.
