Best Phone deal in the history of Earth.

I have been unimpressed by the market lately. Almost got impressed by the hype of pure Android Essential Phone but was left severely disappointed. The Samsung Phones feel cheap to me unless it's a Note then they cost more than a used Honda Civic. Pixel is also too high. Then I saw the Z4 specs and that it was going to be released on June 6th at Bestbuy. I bought it online and picked it up the 6th in store. The screen is awesome! Bright and crisp. The WiFi is fast and picks up great. The battery life is awesome and this is day 2 on the first charge. The fingerprint sensor is fast and has not messed up at all yet. I can multi-task and the phone is smooth as silk. Fast and responsive. I am a power user and this phone is faster than the Essential PH1, The Galaxy S8 and the Pixel XL. The price was 499. PUBG plays in High Graphics mode without a single issue. I swear the only things I am missing that I would like are wireless charging and water proofing. The charger is turbo 17 watt I believe and is supposed to be fast so we will see. I haven't needed to charge it yet. Bluetooth works great and is fast. I have used my Skull any Crusher headphones, Bluetooth out door speaker and transferred pictures from my brick of an Essential over to this via Bluetooth. It came with the 360 degree camera mod which works great and takes awesome pictures. This phone is compatible with any network both GSM and CDMA. I am using it on CDMA right now. In phone camera is as good as my Samsung's have been. The 2ghz Octacore, 4gb RAM, 6.4 inch screen and future 5G ability made me really excited about this phone as compared with the selection of alternatives in this price range.

Best Value Cellphone I've ever owned

It started by having a smooth transfer of data and apps between phones, easy to set up, first time connectivity between the devices, all smoothly went to my new Z4. Great screen, fast response as you would expect, and no issues with WiFi connections. The camera has been very good, with this review being done on only 4 days of use. I haven't tested the night vision functions yet so I can't rate that feature. I do like Android Pie, and purchasing this as an unlocked phone made a big difference. All the normal bloatware wasn't loaded, plus many apps I don't use from 'G' could be uninstalled easily. Activation on Big Red (Vzw) was straight forward, no issues at Best Buy doing it for me on the spot. I didn't have to transfer my SIM, they configured it and allowed me to install it later at my home (which I did 5 minutes after getting there). Keeping the SIM out until I did all the setup via WiFi also went well. SIM card installation was simple and quick. One item that is a personal preference item: the back is smooth and the device will feel slick. I highly recommend getting a thin case for it that helps avoid potential drops. Minor thing to me, just a preference. Again, great value, especially when you consider the addition of the 4K 360 Moto Mod camera! I just recommended it to a friend on a call, and I do recommend you look into it for your own use.

Very Poor Execution - TERRIBLE CAMERA!

Pre-ordered this, since I previously owned the Moto Z2 Play and Z3 Play. I positively reviewed the Z3 Play here on Best Buy, so this review will be much shorter and to the point. - Would not connect to AT&T, had to go into the store and get it to detect their network - never had this happen with any other phone I've used - ever - and I have had a lot of phones! - Software bugs all over the place; too many to list and count. - Very POOR camera. Coming from a Z2 & Z3 Play, this is awful. Constant auto-focus issues, just never can focus properly and when it finally does the final shot is worse than some $200 phones I have had; The Essential phone's main rear snapper slays this thing. In this price group, this might be the worst camera I have ever used. They did not put much effort into this at all and that's quite sad! I'm not the kind of person that waits for software updates anyway, but with Motorola's track record of those, I'd never sit around hoping they fix the issues this phone has - especially the camera! Do yourself a favor, wait until some reviews come out, updates to flow through at least. Take my word for it, this phone is not worth $300, let alone $500. Get the Z3 Play at its current $350 price if you want a Motorola .. or a OP6t for $550. STAY AWAY!

Hi chaddles This should not happen. The device is compatible with AT&T. As we stand by our phones, we would love to get this device checked. Regarding software updates, Software can't be released until it's fully tested. And we test to make sure there are no significant errors. So if there are serious errors, the timing would have to move so that they can be addressed. Plus, there may be delays from partners or carriers that also need to conduct tests, and we don't have control over that. Write us an email to supportforums@motorola.com together with your phone's IMEI so we can directly communicate with you and get this concern resolved. We'll wait for you there. We'll surely help. -Jess MotorolaMobility

Great phone. Battery last 2 days or longer with light use. Medium use get about a full day easily. Heavy use about 12 hours. The best way to get a longer batter life is charge it to 100% before you go to bed and unplug it. As it sits over night it seems to learn it's hardly being used and creates a better battery drain strategy. Kind of like cars that get better mileage if you don't hammer on the gas a lot. The phone is quick and lots of space 128gb plus you can add a sd card. Glad they kept the mod setup for existing mods as I have a couple. I've had 2 previous versions and the screen is nearly indestructible. My only issue is the in screen biometrics is just not as good or as quick as the dedicated finger scanner on the z force. I would gladly give up some space at the bottom to have that back. I used it to unlock and lock my phone which was a nice feature. Now have press the button on the side or wait for time out.

This is replacing a six year old Galaxy Note 3 that's getting harder and harder to get good batteries for. So far so good with the Z4 Pros -Battery legit lasts 2 days off real world usage and charges in like 30 minutes -Screen is good, quality Samsung display -mod upgradeable, batteries, real cameras, 5g - Not a thousand dollars -headphone jack, no insecure garbage Bluetooth only nonsense -nearly stock Android Cons -Fingerprint sensor is junk, but you should use pins anyway since police can force a Fingerprint unlock but cannot force a password or pin divulge -dimensions are a little weird, easy to slip fingers on the sides interface with apps -I hate notches -Motorola is terrible about software patching, but it ships with Pie so hopefully it'll have a decent lifecycle Overall I'm happy. A Note9 is shinier, but I will never pay a grand for a phone that I use my headphones on

This is a really good budget phone. In a world of $1000+ phones, this gives you a really good screen, a powerful camera, and snappy performance for half the price. It comes with the Moto 360 camera Moto Mod, but I honestly would never see myself using this function. So far, the only qualm I have with the phone is the fingerprint reader. The reader on the Z3 Play was on the side and never failed me. This one is built into the screen and almost never gets it on the first try. I ended up just turning it off, which is annoying. If you’re in the market for a new phone and don’t want to sell your first born to afford it, check this one out.

With this new phone and recent introductions of Moto g7, you'd think things were looking good for Moto. Word of warning - Don't buy a Motorola phone any longer.... Motorola is no longer going to provide regular software updates for their phones. Moto z4 was SUPPOSED to be release with 10.0 but that was a no. It was released with 9.0 AND Motorola stated it was only going to upgrade to 10.0 ; no more. Let's not get started about Motorola's common "don't support a phone after two years" stuff. It's extremely disappointing Moto has come to this stage ; it use to be my favorite series. If they were only able to introduce new OS to older phones then they'd hang on to more people. Instead they are putting all their chips on Mods and 5g. It's a losing proposition.

Been an Android fan since the original Moto Droid. Had many Moto phones, including the OG Force and Play 1 and 2. Congrats Moto. You've made your best camera! But this phone is hamstrung by its middling processor. If you're used to the best SOCs, but also spending more, this phone will frustrate you. If you're ok with just average performance, a good camera, and enjoy Moto Display (five years later, still the best notification system in mobile), and maybe have a few mods laying around from previous Moto phones, this phone is a no-brainer. I would still get this over the Pixel line.

I'm surprised at some of the reviews I've read about this phone. For the price, I think this phone definitely lives up to expectations. Camera quality is great and the display is incredible. Build quality is also surprisingly good! Wish I could rate five stars, however, there are a few things I was still unhappy about. The 360-degree camera mod does not work properly (which I honestly expected), also, the built-in fingerprint sensor is next to useless, but personally, I'm fine with that. Other than those two things, I have no complaints about this phone and am definitely glad I purchased!

For a mid range phone great screen, good performance. Not laggy able to play ww2 fps game. Not into fortnite but Alexa speaker mod awesome for those who have prime. Need more time to play with 360 mod haven't had a chance yet. Battery on battery saver amazing life for such a thing light phone. Going to wait for more 5G rollout before buying that mod some areas I travel are still 3g ugh. Overall pretty rugged. Light and works

I used to love droids for their impact resistance. Loved my droid X. loved the droid ultra for how slim it was, but broke it twice and changed to an iphone 6. broke that and changed to a Z force 1 which i LOVED. by the time i needed a new phone the force line was discontinued and bought a Z3; Broke in 6 months and bought a Z4 which cracked the back glass in 3 months. THE ONLY THING THAT I LIKE IS THE GESTURES. BRING BACK THE FORCE LINE.

The price is right, and I love that I bought it unlocked so it can work with any network and doesn't have the bloat of apps that come when you buy the phone via a cellular provider. I haven't had any trouble with it and I've been able to buy USB C to Micro USB adapters so my old chargers work, although they don't turbo charge and charge at the regular rate. I like that the phone has a headphone jack. I'm old school that way.

I researched this phone and was excited to purchase however on the first day it overheated and drained the battery. On the second day it overheated and drained the battery. Camera was poor, fingerprint scanner was poor and there were zero cases or screen protectors available. I returned phone and Best Buy was extremely helpful. I left with a different phone but I am a happy Best Buy customer!

Everyone keeps calling this a mid-range smartphone, but it feels pretty premium to me. I love the fact that it has 128GB of memory, it has room for all my apps and then some. It's an absolute performance beast, I can go practically a whole day without having to charge it.
