Returned. Unreliable. So disappointed. Thought I had found the perfect solution to charging my Arlo camera

this was the second panel I bought and yet again it does not work with the essential camera I have. Even with the cord adapter I cannot get the camera to charge.

Does not work tried following all instructions and it does not charge the cameras

These panels do not reliably keep the camera battery charged.

I've been a long time Arlo camera user. I've had numerous different models over the year. Until recently, I had mostly Pro 4 models with about half of them hooked up to the Arlo solar panels for charging. The system worked well and the solar panels kept the cameras charged. My Pro 4's were starting to get old and having battery problems, so I have been upgrading them to the Essential XL 2nd Gen units. There were newer, had a bigger battery, and didn't need the hub. The system has worked OK. I've started buying the Arlo solar panels for the Essential XL 2nd gen cameras as the cable from the older panels doesn't work on the new cameras. I've been extremely disappointed in the new solar panels. They are MUCH smaller than the original Arlo panels and output a much lower charge current even in full sun. I have a couple mounted in full sun most of the day. If you start with a fully charged battery, these keep it topped off. If you start with a partially charged battery, these panels will take DAYS to charge the cameras. I'm talking maybe 3-5% of charge per day. It's horribly slow. Panels that are not in full sun (they get sun half the day) will not charge up the cameras at all. At best they tread water and slow the discharge, but forget charging them back up to full. These panels are in the exact same location as my older, very effective panels that had no problem charging. I have no idea why Arlo changed the design to make them smaller. It makes them borderline useless. The should have kept the design the same and just changed the connectors.

I set up a camera by my gate with the solar panel to keep it charged. It’s just in the essentials generation two basic camera within two weeks of camera was dead and I had to remove it and recharge it. I’ve had to do that twice over this winter, the solar panel is wide open to light so there’s no issues about blockage or anything on those aspect so the solar panel is just too small for the camera in the winter time Recommendation is a larger, solar panel or ability to connect to panels together. I am not impressed. Have to see how it does this summer.

The solar panel works great and the installation instructions were very simple to follow.
