2018 RAM 1500 tip key gas Bought and installed 2 weeks ago. So far, it has been an excellent buy. I have wanted a remote start on my truck since I bought it 7 years ago but did not want to get into hard to install systems or units that needed extensive programming (this includes hard to program unless you work with them regularly). After reading many reviews this unit was on my radar. I have a background in automotive electronics, installing stereos and car alarms, including remote starters, but it’s been over 20 years since I installed a remote start and those could be fairly difficult to install. This one is nothing like that. All of the main connections were T harnesses with the exception of two wires, one to the start wire and the second to the parking light wire that’s optional. These connections can be easily made either with the included butt connectors, using a t tap (I do not recommend because my experience is that they eventually fail) or string the insulation back and soldering the wires together (the method I prefer and completed). The connection to the remote wire in my vehicle. Did Work require a resistor that was not included in the kit however, I happen to have one in my possession from my previous car alarm installation days. You may need to purchase one in advance. Resistors go in line so they are not difficult to install, it is just one more connection to be made. Overall, the installation took me approximately two hours, but I moved slow and methodical in order to make sure I was following every step in detail. I also did not gather everything I needed together before starting the job. That is something I need to do better with. You could complete this task much quicker if you do it on a regular basis and/or have everything needed before starting. The programming was easy as was flashing the module after initially wiring into the truck. The links to videos were helpful as well as the link to the excellent instructions. I feel like anyone who has at least somewhat mechanically, inclined could easily install one of these units.
