Owned this coffee maker for over two years and has functioned everyday like it was day one. I like the timer and warmer function. Allows me to have hot coffee ready to pour and go and allows me to wake up to that smooth coffee aroma to get my morning routine started. Definitely a great value and a product I would purchase again.

Sad to say, I’m going to return this and try something else. Negatives: It arrived with a crack on the top and a few small broken bits of plastic inside the tank. The box didn’t have any visible damage to it. I was able to clear out the debris and try a pot of coffee. It didn’t provide the same taste as my prior coffee maker, which I had for a few years (use daily) and recently broke. Beep: my former coffee maker had an off button for the beep when the pot is finished. Nice feature, as I don’t want to disturb sleeping children any more than needed. Positives: The carafe pour is fantastic. I really like how it’s lip is angled out so that you don’t get any dripping down the side.

    A great basic coffee maker

Let’s start with that this is a basic coffee maker. I will review it as such because sometimes that is exactly what you want. I have guests over that just want a cup of coffee, they don’t want an americano, latte, mocha, or whatever with the espresso maker. Also, it is terrible making 8 cups of americanos to have with dessert when you have guests over. This is where I love this coffee maker. It brews a larger capacity than most coffee makers and 14 cups, it is simple to use with just the basic functionalities like delay brew, a strong setting, keep warm, 1-4 cup, and the clock. Everything works exactly like it should and it makes a good cup of coffee in a few min. one feature that this coffee maker has that I haven't seen before is the charcoal filter. I already went out of my way to recommend this to my cousin that has some pretty terrible tasting water at his place. I think what I love about this coffee maker is how the buttons are extremely clear and I haven’t had to give anyone one instruction on how to use it if they have ever used a coffee pot in their lives. Pros: Filter Easy to use Easy to set time Cons: If it is under the counter you will need to pull it out to lift the lid to re-fil the water.

This Mr. Coffee 14-cup coffee maker is our first new automatic drip coffee maker in a very long time. It’s a huge step up from our simple on/off-only coffee maker and has a variety of features that make it easy-to-use and convenient for brewing a great tasting cup of Joe. I love the stainless steel and black finish as it goes with the rest of my kitchen appliances, though the steel portions tend to pickup fingerprints easily. On the right-hand side of the machine is a water-level monitor window into the reservoir marking 4 to 14 cups (max) in 2 cup increments. Note that there isn’t an indicator float, so you’ll just have to look for the water line where the color changes from translucent white to a clear-black. The carafe is also marked with the same volume indicators on either side of the handle. The coffee maker is a bit larger than my last one and my only “issue” with the size is that I have to pull it out from under my kitchen cabinets in order to open the cover to the reservoir, as when fully open the height is 22 inches and my cabinets are only 18 inches above the countertop. This is probably not a bad thing though as it allows the steam from the machine to not get trapped under my cabinets and cause water damage to the woodwork. After plugging it in, the only setup involved is setting the current time on the clock using the hour and minute buttons. You have the option to ‘Brew Now’ for coffee on demand or ‘Brew Later’ by selecting a time to turn on, for example, the next morning the machine can start brewing before you even get out of bed. Just remember that choosing ‘Brew Later’ will only run the coffee machine once, and you have to press the button again each time you want to use that feature. However, it will remember the time you chose for that setting until you change it or the machine is unplugged. I did like that there is a safety feature that if you open the reservoir lid while it is actively brewing, the hot water will pump back into the reservoir at the lid hinge, rather than shoot out of the drip head. The top of the machine does get warm/hot during brewing as well and you can set your coffee mugs on top to warm up, but I found that the lid is not completely flat (it is very slightly dome-shaped) so you do have to be careful the mugs won’t topple off. In either mode, after brewing, the hotplate under the carafe automatically stays heated in ‘Keep Warm’ mode, and you can choose the amount of time it remains on in 1 hour increments up to 4 hours. However, there’s no option to skip the keep warm mode all together, and it doesn’t shut off automatically when the carafe is empty nor when it is removed for extended periods of time, so make sure you remember to press the same brew button you used to start the cycle in order to turn off ‘keep warm’ when necessary. It’s easy to remember though because there is a white indicator light on each setting’s button when it is active. This coffee maker can make use of an optional ‘Advanced Water Filtration’ cartridge which is basically a small filter capsule of activated carbon that removes impurities, minerals, and trace chemicals from your water prior to brewing. Since I always make my coffee with filtered water anyway, this extra filtration step didn’t produce a noticeable difference in the taste of our coffee, but you may notice an improvement in your coffee’s taste if you are brewing with unfiltered tap or well water. A sample filter cartridge is included and you place it into a long-handled basket which sits at the bottom of the reservoir where the water is drawn into the coffee machine. There’s a handy replacement reminder dial at the top of filter’s basket handle that lets you display the month that you last replaced the cartridge. These cartridges should be replaced after 30 days (or 30 uses, whichever is earlier) and can be purchase by the dozen for a 1-year supply. There are several other features on this machine which I think are pretty neat. The first is a ‘1-4 Cups’ brewing option which, if selected, slows down the brewing process so that the lesser amount of grounds needed to make that amount of coffee stays in contact with the hot water for longer, helping to draw out more flavor. Note though that enabling this setting, doesn’t allow the machine to measure the amount of water used. It will still empty the entire contents of the reservoir into the carafe, so only add as much water to the machine as needed for the amount of grounds used for the desired volume of coffee. The ‘Strong’ button does a similar process in order to brew a bolder, more concentrated coffee, which is great for making iced coffee (since the ice will water down your drink) or for use in recipes like tiramisu. You can have both ‘Strong’ and ‘1-4 Cups’ modes enabled simultaneously, and it will remember these settings until you toggle them off (LEDs in the button will be lit). This machine comes with a reusable nylon coffee filter which eschews the need for paper filters. Not only can this save you the expense, but it is also more environmentally friendly. Just note that the nylon mesh will stain and turn brown through use, and while lifting the filter out of the machine using the handle is convenient, emptying it of grounds is a little messier than removing a paper liner. You can, of course, still use disposable filters, if you prefer, with or without the reusable filter installed. The brew basket, reusable coffee filter, and carafe are all top rack dishwasher safe. There is also a decalcifying ‘Clean’ mode you can activate by pressing and holding the ‘Strong’ button for 3 seconds, if your machine’s performance isn’t brewing optimally, and it’s recommended to complete this cycle once every 1-3 months depending on your water hardness. Overall, I’m pretty happy with this coffee maker. Its 14-cup capacity allows me to brew a large pot for friends and family, and the 1-4 cup brewing mode is perfect for small batches for one or two people. The settings are easy to use, and I love that I can wake up to freshly brewed coffee in the mornings without waiting, if we plan ahead and prep the machine up the night before.

The packaging it comes with is solid and the instructions are on the top of the box when you open it up if needed. The device itself is very sturdy and sleek with a nice black and brushed aluminum which goes with any modern kitchen decor. Once you plug in the device it asks you to setup the time. The rest of the device is simple to operate and pretty straight forward. It comes with a filter that is simple to install. You simply open the lid (which feels very solid) and on the left side in the water reservoir you pull out a stick and install the filter and then it clicks into place. On the filter stick there is a manual timestamp, so you know when you need to replace said filter. Filters are cheap to replace so that is good. This is one of my favorite parts as previously I had to filter water externally and then put it in the machine. Now I can save time and just use it from the tap. I did find that the coffee from this machine tasted slightly better than my previous cheaper machine. But it wasn’t dramatic, but we buy generic cheap coffee. I also tried the strong brew, and I could taste a difference, but another member of the household couldn’t. So, maybe with better coffee you’d notice a bigger difference. Speaking of other household members, if you get up before them you can press the “keep warm” setting which will keep it warm for 1 – 4 hours (your choice) which is a neat function that we use a lot since we all wake up at different times. If you are just making it for yourself, you can also brew 1 – 4 batches of coffee and even grab a cup before it finishes which is nice on those mornings you just can’t wait for your coffee. Last, if you want to set a time for it to automatically start you can. We didn’t try this feature though. One downside is that when it is done there is a moderately loud high-pitched beep. Which scares our dog. If you are having a party this unit also makes 14 cups compared to the standard 12 which is appreciated. It also comes with a reusable coffee filter which is dishwasher safe. There is a little handle on the top to allow you to easily remove it from the top of the device. Due to the auto cleaning function you need to empty this on every brew which left me wasting a lot of coffee so I opted to stick with paper filters. Which obviously work just fine. Overall, this is a great little coffee maker that I can easily recommend.

Mr Coffee is no stranger to making a good or even great and affordable coffee maker. And I'm really glad that they've implementing filtration pods in their water reservoir to give the most pure cup of coffee possible. This is an extra large capacity carafe, allowing for 14 potential cups.on average, it'll probably equate to around 6 mugs per pot. That's really good though. I took this the office and the sighs of approval just flowed , at the idea of not having to brew new pots so often. It didn't help, since people drink so much , so fast that they never even get to utilise the stay warm feature. Lol! I'm happy they're pleased with it. If you want, you can brew single cups at a time and my favorite part is being able to set it to a good strong brew, giving me that pick-me-up shot. All in all, this is a good coffee maker for the price. The extra large carafe makes it all worth it. It's nothing too different from what you may already have, but it looks great and gets the job done and it comes with its own forever coffee filter( I love that). I would recommend this my friends without hesitation.

The Mr Coffee 14 cup coffee maker is super simple to use and the extra large carafe will hold and serve up to 14 cups of coffee. It does have a setting to make only 1-4 cups which is nice and convenient when you just want to make a quick cup of coffee to go. The Brew Later button lets you pick a time for the machine to start brewing. Perfect for starting your coffee when your alarm goes off in the morning. Your coffee will get brewed while you shower and get ready. I love it. It is easy to program it and you can set a time to start or a countdown timer. If you choose to fill the whole carafe, you can set it to keep the coffee warm. It is also easy to take apart and clean with the included instructions. What surprised me is that there is a charcoal water filter in the machine! It is also very easy to install and remove. The filter will help purify your water a bit and make better tasting coffee. It needs to be replaced about every 30 days, so keep that in mind! I did find the replacements filters online at $10 for a dozen of them. Not bad at all. Would I recommend this coffee maker? For sure. It is perfect for any location, home or work. It has a nice industrial design, simple buttons and operation. Easy to clean and It will make enough coffee for multiple servings Pros: Very easy to use Included reusable coffee filter Advanced water filter inside XL carafe Cons: Small charcoal filters need to be replaced every 30 days or every 30 uses. (They are cheap though and very much worth having)

I have been enjoying the Mr. Coffee 14 cup programmable coffeemaker. To start this coffee maker features a strong brew selector where it slows down the brewing process to allow the hot water to fully saturate the coffee grounds. I can definitely tell the difference. The first time I tried this feature I could not get any sleep and this rarely happens to me when I drink coffee. Another good feature is the brew later feature. This is perfect for waking up in the morning. I set it to brew at a designated time in the morning so I can get out of bed and pour myself a warm cup of coffee. This machine also came with a water filter. The water filter makes sure you have a great tasting cup of coffee. The best part of this coffee maker is that it is 14 cups. This is especially convenient when you have family over and everyone wants coffee. When you are not having family over you can use the 1-4 cup setting which is more than enough coffee for me. I usually drink 2-3 cups. Another feature I like is that this coffee maker has an auto clean option. I would recommend this coffee maker for someone who likes to have more than 1-2 cups of coffee or if you want to change things up from the fancy Keurigs or Nespresso machines. This is also a good machine to buy and use in the office, and the coffee is not as expensive as the other fancy machines.

As far as drip brewers go, it does the job. The water tank and the carafe output is equal, so no guessing when filling the reservoir. Obviously brew strength will depend upon your tastes, but the Strong Brew button is nice when you want to punch it up a little bit. I’m not exactly sure how they do it, but I think it slows the process a bit and Upon unboxing, it had the least plastic smell of other coffee makers I have had before. I ran the clean cycle as the initial setup suggests, but I would recommend running a couple pots of water through it too. My first 2 or so brews still had a bit of plastic taste in the cup. The white LED is nice to actually use as a clock that can be seen. Changeable Keep Warm settings from 1-4 hours is also a nice upgrade, especially when making smaller pots. The 1-4 cup setting is nice. In truth, with the majority of the mug sizes I use the 1-4 cup setting yields 2 actual cups. The overall design is fine, if you plan on placing it under a cabinet the water and coffee reservoir lid flips from front to back, which is also the longer dimension, so you will need to pull it out from under the cabinet to add water and coffee. The reservoir pour area is large so it is easy to add water. I have a few complaints: -the design does limit air flow so the brew station keeps a lot of moisture, as does the pot. If you do not drink coffee regularly you may want to consider leaving the lid open and thoroughly drying the pot after use. -the pot does not have a tapered design so when the pot levels get low it requires tipping the pot almost upside down. It doesn’t make it hard to pour, just awkward. There is not a coffee maker I have ever had that has no condensation after brewing that didn’t linger; this just seems a bit more excessive than others. -Steam: The steam condenses on the face of the coffee maker where all the controls are, including the clock. Just hope it doesn’t limit the longevity of the device. A side note: the included water filters do work to remove chlorine taste from your water. I already use filtered water and it does not have a noticeable effect on the flavor of the coffee. If you do use them. I would recommend keeping water in the reservoir instead of filling it when ready for use. Since the reservoir areas remains damp, I would think mold growth could be an issue if not used regularly. But if you are considering a coffee pot, chances are you will use it regularly! For what it is worth, Mr. Coffee brand makers is one I keep coming back to. I have some fancier looking and lofty claims, but failed on execution...Mr. Coffee gets it done!

Excellent coffee maker brews a great tasting coffee. I like my coffee strong and this option does the trick. When you start brew select strong option is nice. Also you can set keep warm 2-4 hours warmer plate keeps coffee nice and hot. Also set time when to auto brew is great ready when you wake up. 14 cup maker is what I wanted my other brand only brews a 10 cup pot and family needed a larger pot brewer. The re usable mesh screen filter saves using paper filters but is a little more to clean up and recommend when brew is done remove filter. To brew a 14 cup pot takes about 15 minutes I guess you can say 1 minute per cup to brew.

Coffee making made easy and flexible

One can make fine coffee with a basic coffee maker. Why get a coffee maker like this? Plain and simple, the convenience and flexibility. This 14 cup coffee maker fits in with modern kitchens, the black and stainless steel exactly matches my microwave oven. It makes great coffee and its easy programming and flexible options make it a joy to use. One can brew a small 1-4 cup amount of coffee or up to 14 cups. There are buttons to start brewing now or for timed brewing later. The automatic hold setting can be adjusted between 1 - 4 hours in hour increments. Programming the coffee maker is easy, it's the easiest to program that I have ever used. It's intuitive, you use the hour button to set the hour and minute button to set the minute. It is so easy that I have no problems in resetting the programming for weekend use when I get up later and want the coffee brewed at a different time. The coffee maker comes with a water filter, a small activated charcoal capsule to filter out chlorine and calcium. The capsule is supposed to be replaced monthly for best results. There is also a dedicated cleaning setting tor maintaining the coffee maker. I only have one quibble with this coffee maker and it's a minor one. I would love to see the automatic hold allow setting in half hour increments rather than the programmed hour increments. That said, I have no problem in enjoying the coffee maker, just the way it is.
