    Midrange performance with boring design

In a time of gaming lights and feature rich laptops, this MSI Laptop is pretty basic. Borderline boring. But boring doesn’t mean bad. In fact, for the price this is a pretty compelling laptop. I was quite impressed with the performance. There are some things I wish it had, like higher resolution screen, but all in all, it’s a nice package - albeit in a slightly dull package. My perspective on this laptop is from a practical standpoint vs. a deep dive into performance metrics. IN THE BOX As one might expect, the only thing you get in the box is the laptop and the charger. The charging brick is relatively small, it’s big, but not unwieldy and there’s sure to be plenty of slack should your plug be far away. SETUP While the experience setting up this laptop wasn’t unlike the setup of any other Windows laptop, I ran into a few delays. Nothing that really takes away from the experience, but it certainly felt like more of a bear than other computer setups. It could very well be user based or some one off, but it’s worth mentioning. There was an inordinate amount of updating, as one would expect, but the updates, both for Windows and the MSI Center didn’t work at first. I kept getting errors. Eventually the Windows updates went through (I can’t explain what happened or say that I did anything), but I was never able to resolve the issues with the MSI Center. Granted, it’s not necessary to have. But the MSI Center is where one might go to monitor the hardware. Of course there’s 3rd party apps that do this, and I’m not one to regularly use these computer maker’s software, but maybe that matters to you. In any event, it didn’t stop me from actually being able to game. DESIGN AND INTERNALS As I said, the design is pretty boring. It’s a thick black plastic laptop with lots of bezels. It’s not terribly heavy, but is much heavier than an ultrabook or the like - which is frankly to be expected. The lid has understated etched lines and an MSI logo that doesn’t pop. Again, not saying that’s good or bad. Frankly, this doesn’t scream gaming laptop, but from a distance looks like your standard corporated issued business laptop. It has sturdy raised rubber feet on the bottom that keep the laptop from sliding on your desk and elevated for airflow. There are 3 USB-A ports, one USB-C, ethernet, HDMI out, and 3.5 mm headphone jack. The USB-C port seems more recessed than the other ports, and I didn’t have any issues plugging a USB-C webcam into it, but I couldn’t make my USB-C thumb drive work. The USB-C prong in my thumb drive wasn’t long enough to make a connection. Seems like an odd design choice. Admittedly, however, I haven’t tried a whole lot of USB-C cables to see how many fit or don’t fit and whether my issues were specific to my one thumb drive. You get some decent gaming chops on the inside. There’s an RTX 4050 for dedicated graphics, and Ryzen 5 for processing. Note that the RTX 4050 is great for 1080p, which is what this laptop supports and brings with it NVIDIA’s advancements in ray tracing and DLSS. There’s 16 GB of RAM which is fine for this machine, Wi-Fi 6E for the fastest internet. The screen, however, is only 1080p but you do get a 144 hz refresh rate. Honestly, when using a 15 inch screen, 1080p is really all you need. MSI calls the screen a matrix display, and it looks good. Text and images are plenty sharp. So while we might be accustomed to higher resolution screens on big TVs, you realize you don’t need it on a smaller screen. The keyboard is just fine. I’m not a big fan of the font MSI uses, it looks like a font in a sci-fi movie, but that’s just personal preference. It’s backlit, which isn’t always a guarantee on cheaper laptops. The lighting is plenty bright to use at all times. The WASD keys are translucent which is cool, and makes it easy to find when playing FPS games with a keyboard and mouse. I will always prefer a mechanical keyboard, so I use a separate keyboard with my laptops. But the typing experience was just fine, the keyboard is nice and quiet (vs. mechanical clickiness) and was very responsive. The touchpad was also very responsive and is plenty big IMO. What is a plus to me is the number pad to the right. I dislike when 15 inch laptops don’t take advantage of the space and put in a number pad. Again, this is personal preference. GAMING PERFORMANCE I play a wide variety of games on a wide variety of machines. I like playing Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, as well as some Xbox games through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. I also have a whole library of games from Epic. To test out the capabilities, I opted to try Cyberpunk first. I just opened it up and went with the default settings at first (side note, I’m not one to really fine tune all my graphical settings on PC, it’s just not my thing, I have too little time to actually play games). Most of the visual settings were on High or Ultra. When I started playing, my framerates averaged about 60 FPS, but when the action got heavy, it sometimes dipped into the 30s. It wasn’t unplayable, but it wasn’t ideal, especially when the screen supports 144 hz. I went back into my settings and turned on DLSS 3.0 - for those that don’t know, I’m sure most of you reading this do, that’s a feature in the newest NVIDIA 40 line of GPUs that utilizes AI, and software magic to increase your framerates. After doing so, I saw a marked improvement in my FPS (note in my pictures below, you might notice the average FPS is higher than what I cited, that’s because I paused playing to take a screenshot and there was no action going on when the screenshot was grabbed). But I was really impressed with the lighting and textures. The ray tracing was fantastic. All in all, even with just turning on DLSS 3.0 in the menus (again, I don’t really get into the fine tuning, it’s not my thing, but I know it’s important to a vast majority of PC gamers) I was able to get great performance out of Cyberpunk which is known to be graphically demanding. I also tried one my favorite games, Lego Builder’s Journey. It’s a simple puzzle game, but it looks amazing on this laptop - primarily because of the ray tracing and high refresh rate. I was able to get FPS in the 100s. All-in-all, as a 1080p gaming machine, you can’t do much better in terms of performance - without breaking the bank. OTHER USES AND COMMENTS It almost goes without saying that most gaming laptops are good all around laptops. If you can handle high demanding games, it can handle about anything else. When I’m not gaming, I mostly use computers for word processing and surfing the web. Of course this handles that just fine. The speakers are par for the course for a laptop. You’ll want dedicated speakers when in a serious gaming session but otherwise, they sound as good as you’d expect in a laptop. There’s little to no bass to speak of, but I found them to get plenty loud to hear spoken dialogue in games. The battery life is rated at around 8 hours for web surfing or video playback. I didn’t perform a battery run down test, but I would be surprised if it lasted 4 hours with general use (which might include some gaming). I’ll also note that when I unplugged it after a full charge, went a few days and turned it on without plugging the power in, the power level was at 75%. I haven’t tested it thoroughly, but I hope this was an aberration in that I might have not fully turned it off before closing the lid. Otherwise, I would be concerned about relying on the battery. CONCLUSION If you are in the market for a gaming laptop that can handle most any game and is reasonably priced, this MSI is a good one to consider. I found no performance issues playing a wide variety of games on high visual settings. The 1080p screen is more than adequate on a 15 inch screen.

DO NOT BUY THIS PC!!! I got this error: “Windows has restarted your GPU driver due to a problem, driver upgrade or physical removal. League of Legends will terminate.” Got that message several times and got a leaver buster notice. Before all this happened it wouldn’t even load into windows 11. I had to call MSI support to get it to get into windows. Terrible garbage PC, wish I never even bought it. I wasted so many hours trying to get it to work.

MSI - Bravo 15 15.6" 144hz Gaming Laptop FHD – with Ryzen 5-7535HS CPU, 16GB RAM, 6GB of video memory on the GEForce RTX4050 GPU In all aspects this computer just performs and performs really well. The AMD Ryzen 5-7535HS processor together with the 6GB equipped RTX 4050 graphics circuit can make a fast work of anything, working, video, or gaming. Every game tried performed well and smooth with no lag or stuttering. The built-in 144Hz Full HD 15.6 inch 1080p display gave some superb visual response for all games tried. It is not a touch screen. The built in 16GB of DDR5 RAM enable opening several dozen browser tabs on Edge with no problems (Edge puts dormant tabs in suspense) BTW, this laptop can handle up to 64 GB of RAM ! The included RAM is not soldered in and can be swapped for larger sized modules. My unit has a Samsung brand 512GB NVMe SSD for many, many applications, files, documents, pictures, videos and anything else and I doubt I will ever fill it up with prudent cloud storage and periodic deleting of duplicate pictures (we all take too many pictures with our phones and digital cameras right?) This too is upgradeable to larger sized SSDs. Ports: 1 x HDMI 2.1, 2 x USB-A 3.2, 1 x USB-C with Display-Port video function, 1 combo Audio/Headphone jack, 1 HDMI port, and 1 wired Ethernet jack. The keyboard is backlit; there is a full included number pad on the right side. The laptop runs Windows 11 Home. Oddly, the camera for video calls is only 720p resolution. The laptop weighs just shy of 5 pounds at a stated 4.96 pounds. Battery life could be better: The built in battery status shows just under 2 hours of life when in gaming but over 4 hours when being used for web surfing and email (obviously less demands when not gaming). When at an outlet indoors I always use all my laptops plugged in anyway. MSI has a full suite of diagnostic and measuring software controlled from the task try icon. When a buyer registers their purchase they receive 3 more months of warranty to 15 months. The cooling fans operate when needed but are not too noisy and create very strong airflow from the back and the sides as well as from the very ventilated bottom plate. The copper cooling pipes are visible from the bottom. Keep the unit on a flat surface or a slightly raised ventilated surface to insure there is constant air flow for the cooling system. Needless to say, NO laptop should be used on sheets, a pile of papers or other surfaces where airflow is impinged. I like this MSI gaming laptop and highly recommend it for anyone who wants speed and price/cost economy.

The bravo 15 C7VE laptop doesn't have the crazy flair of a lot of gaming laptop, but has a clean look to work for both work and play. You get the essential in the box, the laptop, charger and some manuals. Gave the laptop a little test trying to see if the is any flex to the keyboard, but felt nice and sturdy in the hand, which was surprising with the chassis being pretty much plastic. The specs for the hardware is pretty solid, you got the 16GB of (Samsung) DDR5 RAM, Ryzen5-7535HS and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050. The M.2 SSD is 512GB and appears to be a Samsung drive also. The charger is a barrel jack, there is a USB-C port, which can be used for a port replicator, unfortunately this cannot be used for charging. The laptop by default is set to go to sleep pretty quickly, even when plugged in, so I would suggest modifying the power profile setting for when plugged in to not turn off the display and go to sleep when idle. This is great for when on battery, I didn't realize it was so low by default that when downloading a game the laptop went to sleep when I walked away so I needed to wake it up to complete the download. There is a single color backlight that has 3 levels of brightness, but can be turned off also using a function key. I haven't had the opportunity to travel with it just yet, however with the barrel jack and no USB-C charging I feel that you would need to be mindful and either work, consume media or play same simpler games that aren't power hungry when travelling. While playing I took more the approach of a home setup, I had the laptop plugged in and set up with a port replicator giving me output, not using the built in HDMI or port, which I feel for a laptop is a much better set up. It save you from having to keep track of multiple cables and just use a single USB-C and the power to dock at home. I outputted to my 4K TV I typically use for console gaming and booted up Starfield. Regardless of settings the GPU was using pretty much all of it's VRAM, I kept the game at Medium settings and used the laptop screen to chat on Discord. I had a 4-5 hour gamming session and did not have the game or laptop crash out on me. I was using a headset, so the fan noise didn't bother me, it also didn't bother anyone else sleeping in the house or come across on my mic. Even with pushing out to the external screen, I was seeing an average of 40-50 FPS, which is low however it is more than the 30 FPS lock on console. Low settings was 50+ but preffered a little more detail. The one thing that I should have opted for was more storage, a 512GB drive can't install all of the games I have in rotation at this time. Diablo IV, Remnant 2, Starfield and Destiny 2 are too much for the internal drive. Luckily the bottom plate comes off easily after removing a bunch of screws, I kept them in order, however all but one seem to be the same size. I plan to swap the laptop with a 2TB,as they are fairly affordable nowadays. The laptop is more than capable from my experience, I have some handheld gaming devices, however this is more robust in power and capable of playing the latest games with ease. My main gripe is the USB-C not being able to power the laptop, and the storage not being enough for my current rotation. It's easily upgradeable so I will simply swap and reinstall windows, then this will be a well rounded machine, outside of the charger.

Great budget friendly / gaming laptop by MSI

My taught on the MSI - Bravo 15 C7V 15.6" 144hz Gaming Laptop FHD running a Ryzen 5-77535HS with 16GB Ram, 512GB NVMe SSD and a GeForce RTX 4050 with 6G GDDR6 *I strongly recommend this laptop for someone that is looking for performance, isn't too picky on the build quality and also wants to keep a low budget! Keeping that in mind, you can't go wrong with purchasing this laptop! Either you want to use it for daily tasks (web browsing) or want to throw something more intensive tasks at it (video editing) or even some good ole gaming, this MSI won't disappoint. I've been using the laptop for a little over a week now and i can definitely say it's not perfect it has great gaming characteristics as well as some not so great, but when i think at the price-point of this device it blows my mind what MSI can offer for under 1k. **Things i like about this Laptop: -The price! It's a great price in 2023 for entering the gaming world on a laptop. -Performance! It is above average and definitely one of the best in it's price range. -Display! It might not be the brightest but it has a good color reproduction and the matte finish makes it great for outdoor using or in a room where you have a lot of light coming at it! -Webcam! Yes, for a gaming laptop it's cool that they introduced that in there where some other competitors don't offer an integrated one. -Keyboard! It's lit, gaming oriented and very sturdy on typing. -Battery life! Extremely happy with the battery life from a gaming laptop. -Portability! For a 15.6 gaming laptop packed with such performance, it is fairly light and compact, easy to cary almost anywhere. ***Things i think could've been done a little better: -While i like the hinge flexibility i found it to be a little loose and i have concerns for the long usage of it. -Speaker positioning i find it strange that they are underneath and a bit too quiet for what i like. -Cooling performed well in any situation i had this laptop in but it tends to overheat mostly into the left upper corner of the keyboard. All this being said, i really believe it's a good gaming laptop for 2023 that would deliver performance within a friendly budget!

    Entry into Elite Gaming

I have had a chance to play around with this laptop and i love the appearance and design, it has an elite gaming laptop feel but at an entry level price. It will perform nicely with your gaming needs but mine did heat up quite a bit and suffer some lag with extended play. The laptop right out of the box has a very solid gaming look and durable construction feel to it. The backlit keyboard is always a plus and the shortcut keys do add to the experience. The initial setup was about as average as it gets but once i downloaded COD MW, the gameplay was ok. The loading of the shaders took forever, not sure why but it was alot longer than on my other laptop which has a 3060. The gameplay was smooth but after a few hours I noticed some lag in the game play along with some glitches. I can't expect too much only because the cooling on any gaming laptop will not be great no matter what they advertise and the gaming will suffer as it heats up. The 16GB DDR5 is good, especially at the price of the laptop. I wish the hard drive was larger but 512gb seems to be the entry level standard. The screen resolution and the refresh rate were pretty good, it was very vibrant and responsive (until the unit got a little too hot). I haven't used it for much else but streaming and gaming. I do like it but i did ding it do to the heating issue and small ram/ssd, overall i do definitely recommend it if you was a good gaming laptop with a pricey look to it that won't break the bank

This laptop seamlessly blends work and play. Powered by the formidable GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card, it caters to the needs of both hardcore gamers and remote professionals like myself. When it comes to gaming, it truly shines. I've had the pleasure of immersing myself in epic quests within World of Warcraft and the enchanting world of Hogwarts Legacy, all while cranking up the graphics to their maximum glory. The visuals are nothing short of spectacular. The laptop gets a bit hot, but that is normal for a gaming laptop. As long as the vents aren't covered, it won't overheat even with maximum graphics settings during gaming marathons. However, its talents aren't confined to gaming alone. As a dedicated remote worker and frequent traveler, I've come to rely on this laptop for demanding tasks like high-quality video editing. Its performance is nothing short of impressive. One standout feature is the built-in number pad, a rarity in the world of 15.6-inch laptops, which has proven to be a valuable asset in my daily work. Personally, I find that a number pad and backlit keys are necessities i cannot compromise on. Weight wise, it is neither featherlight nor excessively heavy. It strikes a nice balance between portability and power, making it a dependable companion for those who navigate both the virtual realms of gaming and the professional world of work - like me.

MSI - Bravo 15 15.6" 144hz Gaming Laptop FHD - Ryzen 5-7535HS with 16GB RAM - GeForce RTX 4050 with 6G GDDR6 - 512GB NVMe SSD - Black Summary: A worthy budget-conscious gaming laptop. Pros: * Lightweight. This unit is pretty light for what is packed inside. * Formfactor. The footprint is a very modest one with a keyboard that features a full, albeit compact keypad. * CPU and GPU. The pairing of the Ryzen 7535HS and RTX 4050 makes for a good one with adequate performance where it counts. * Function Keys. Thoughtful use of Fn keys offer quick access to common settings: keyboard brightness, screen brightness, Webcam ON/OFF, MSI Control Center, microphone, and volume. * Keyboard. I have owned several gaming laptops from large 18" to 14" from various brands. Usually more compact keyboards can take some adjustment. This unit seems to balance the right size/layout by sacrificing full sized number keypad. The result is that I was able to immediately start typing using the keyboard with very little adjustment period. Cons: * Make/Quality. I realize this model falls on the budget friendly side of gaming laptops, but the feel of this unit reminds me that it isn't a premium model. The unit even sounds hollow/empty when you tap anywhere on the keyboard, or chassis in general. * LCD Panel/Lid Hinge. The display moves too easily. Tilting the unit back just to see the bottom of the unit will cause the display to move. It has way too much give and I worry this unit will have trouble keeping orientation over time. Ever get up to move from one room to another, or from your desk to a meeting room? Ever leave your laptop in its open position while doing so? Well, you're like to see the lid flop all over the place if you do. * The limited port options are fine for this price-point. The full ethernet port is nice. I do with the ports were on back, though. A mouse on the right hand or left hand of the unit will be positioned a bit further away than I'd like due to the ports. I could use a wireless dongle, but I don't like using them for games. * Power cord. Another proprietary connection. With USB-C PD chargers being what they are these days, I feel like they could have included a USB-C charger as well as a PD port next to the power port. * Thought not marketed as having the capability, I was disappointed the keyboard is not the Chroma-key sort. It's a static blue. Sadly, the color of the important AWSD keys is a bit annoying as I want to be able to read them. They way these are made, it's like they're faded. Same goes with the power button. It is transparent, backlit, and even has a strange single colored LED in its upper right-hand corner. I wish the power button were more distinct and separated from the main keyboard. * Storage. The 16GB of RAM I think is fair for this price point. The 512 GB SSD, on the other hand, I do not. I feel like we should be able to get a minimum 1 TB SSD, or a better performing SSD. This unit takes longer to startup from cold than similar units and it's a bit irksome. I've included benchmarks for the disk at peak and real-world performance profiles. Use: I've only had this unit a week. My younger brother and I have split time on it while testing a few games. The CPU/GPU combo makes it possible to play some favorite games at high to highest settings and with a decent frame rate. For instance, Destiny 2 on highest settings was yielding about 110 FPS in average movement/maps. The FPS drops when there is a lot going on like an event, or in a crucible, or dungeons. We never play at full maximum settings, so it's easy enough for us to tweak if we need to. I've included a few benchmarks for people to easily compare with models they may view as their ideal. I did not apply any special settings, attempt overclocking, etc. so these results are out-of-box. I think this is a good deal and would recommend it to someone on a budget. I worry about the hinge/LCD and have deducted a star due to that concern.

Best Priced Starter Gaming Laptop in 2023?

**Overview:** The MSI Bravo 15, sporting a 15.6-inch 144hz FHD display and packed with the Ryzen 5, 16 GB RAM, and RTX 4050, stands out as an excellent everyday-use laptop and a commendable introduction to the world of gaming laptops. **Design:** At first glance, the MSI Bravo boasts a refined, sleek design with a relatively slim profile. Its understated appearance makes it versatile enough to be used for daily tasks or even carried to an office setting without drawing unnecessary attention. The matte black finish seamlessly camouflages the subtle gaming-oriented accents, such as the unique etching on the cover and the colored keys. Despite its modest price tag, the build quality feels robust, giving off a premium vibe. - **Hinges:** They are sturdy, allowing a smooth one-hand operation to open or close the lid. Impressively, the hinge can fully recline to 180 degrees, mitigating the risk of over-flexing. - **Keyboard:** It offers a satisfying typing experience. Although the keys produce a mechanical sound, they're cushioned and responsive. - **Touchpad:** The touchpad is adequately sized with a good tactile click. It’s designed intuitively so that it doesn't hinder gameplay when not using an external keyboard. - **Ports:** Users get a generous selection including 1 USB C, 3 USB A, a headphone jack, an Ethernet port, and an HDMI 2 port. The inclusion of an ethernet port at this price is a delightful surprise. **Performance and Thermals:** The laptop’s underside reveals an elaborate system of copper pipes designed for efficient heat dissipation. This certainly pays off as the laptop stays cool, avoiding any lag, stutters, or freezes during gameplay, even if the settings are adjusted to medium or low. However, remember, this is a starter gaming laptop, so understanding its limits is crucial. **Gaming Experience:** While it might not rival the performance of beasts like the RTX 4080 Alienware, the Bravo 15 ensures an enjoyable gaming experience. Its portability is a standout feature; being lightweight makes it an ideal travel companion, and its non-flashy design won't make you the center of attention in more professional settings. **Conclusion:** MSI's Bravo 15 emerges as a well-rounded option, striking a balance between functionality, design, and affordability. It's not just another gaming laptop; it's one with character and convenience. The compact charging adapter further enhances its portability. If you're on the lookout for a dependable laptop that can handle casual gaming and daily tasks with ease, the Bravo 15 should be on your radar. I, for one, am certainly keeping mine for those spontaneous gaming sessions.

Casual gamers or those that need to travel while gaming but don’t want to take an expensive rig will be highly satisfied with this laptop. No frills accessories, comes with the laptop and charger. First impressions are pretty good overall. The case has a cool design, I really dig the bottom side, has a very techy/spacey feel to it. Overall, it’s compact and lightweight. The keyboard layout is clean and well lit (dimmable), WASD keys are see thru so they stand out better for FPS games. The keyboard also has a very techy and spacey look to it. Specs are on the page here, so I won’t go into heavy details on that. There are plenty of ports for all your needs, a magnetic charger connection would have been nice, seems to be the norm on higher priced laptops these days. The HD is on the smaller size for gaming but it's easily upgradeable, one of the cost saving options I’m sure for this guy. Rating this laptop from the price is 5 stars all day, it does have a few minor issues but that just puts you up into the higher priced units. The battery is junk when your gaming, it just won’t last long. Dim your screen, turn off keyboard backlighting and use it for work or email etc and it should last you 10hrs or so. Overall I can’t see removing a star for anything, for the value. It’s a great machine for the money.

_____ *Pros: -Fast and speedy performance thanks to good hardware. -The 15.6" display is sized just right for gaming, streaming, and office work. -Runs cool thanks to a robust cooling system. -Low noise during regular tasks. -Good battery life for a gaming laptop. _____ *Neutral: -No display auto-brightness. -The keyboard keys feel stiff with high resistance. -Small touchpad area. -Laptop charges via a proprietary port and not USB-C. ______ *Cons: -None === Design and Build Quality === When I first gazed upon the MSI Bravo 15 and felt it in my hands, I was surprised by how thick and chunky it felt. Despite its thickness, the Bravo doesn’t feel heavy, at least not unusually so for a gaming laptop with a discrete graphic card, associated extra cooling and extra fans. Besides the thickness, the rest of the laptop did not elicit any unusual or surprised reactions from me. The entire laptop is made of plastic, which is normal for a gaming laptop in this price range, and the design looks okay – not crazy flashy but still with enough bling to make it pop a little. The plastic used on the keyboard deck area is dense and doesn’t flex much at all. The plastic on the lid is the smooth and glossy kind, and it does flex if you press on it. So it would be a good idea to avoid placing anything heavy on top of the laptop lest you destroy the panel. The lid picks up grime and oil very easily so expect to wipe it down frequently if you like having it nice and shiny all the time. The keyboard area does a much better job at repelling oily residues. The 15.6” IPS display is satisfactory and good due to its even backlighting with no glaring bright spots, decent brightness level, and of course, that 144Hz refresh rate option. Auto-brightness is missing, which is unfortunate, because I would rather have the laptop intelligently adjust the brightness level for me whenever my setting changes. The display is definitely good enough for me for everything I do with the Bravo 15 – gaming, watching music videos and movies, and doing office work. The keyboard is pretty cool and I like it because I get regular-sized arrow keys, a small but still useful number pad area, and three brightness levels of choice. The function (Fn) key is located on the right side of the spacebar, which took me some time to get used to. The Windows key can be disabled via the MSI Center app (Features > General Settings) if you find yourself pressing it accidentally during gaming sessions. The keys are responsive and accurate to type on, but I wish they required less actuation force as I felt my hands aching sooner on the Bravo 15 compared to my other laptops. The Microsoft Precision touchpad works very well in terms of swipes and taps, but the surface area feels small and cramped. Right-clicking on the touchpad doesn't require too much force but it's kind of noisy. If you dislike carrying around and using dongles as much as I do, then you’ll appreciate that the Bravo 15 comes with a nice assortment of ports: 3x USB-A, 1x USB-C, 1x audio, 1x ethernet, and 1x HDMI. Unfortunately, that USB-C port is not a Thunderbolt port, and you can’t use it charge the laptop. For charging, you’ll have to use the factory brick charger connected to the proprietary port on the left side of the laptop. Overall, I think MSI did a decently good job with the design choices for the Bravo 15 while targeting its price point. It would’ve been nice to have the missing features that I mentioned above but they’re not deal-breakers either. === Performance === With a 6-core, 12-thread AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS CPU, 16GB of DDR5-4800MHz RAM, and a 512GB Samsung NVME hard drive, the Bravo 15 is one speedy machine. It handles Windows 11 just fine with no micro-stutters or lags. Even when I have Google Chrome open with 25 tabs, Microsoft Edge with 4 tabs, and music videos streaming in the background, the Bravo 15 kept everything running fast and smooth without overheating or getting noisy. Most games I've tried on the Bravo 15 ran pretty well at 1080P, such as Cyberpunk 2077, God of War, Elden Ring, and Far Cry 6. The Nvidia RTX 4050 6GB GPU is a budget mainstream part, so my expectations were not very high, but the GPU surprised me with its decent performance, hitting 60fps and above most of the time. I tried running Tears of the Kingdom on the Ryujinx emulator and, it too, ran pretty well, hovering mostly between 25 to 30fps. When it comes to 1080p gaming, the Bravo 15 is well equip for it. === Windows 11 and MSI Software === The MSI Bravo 15 is my sixth device that arrived with Windows 11 preinstalled, and I still prefer Windows 10 over it. My discontent toward Windows 11 is mainly aimed at its Start Menu as well as the right-click context menu, both of which I feel have been dumbed down too much. Lucky for me and others, there is a way to get back the Windows 10 Start Menu and Context Menu. To do so, I downloaded and installed an app called ExplorerPatcher (by Valinet). It’s been a HUGE quality of life improvement for me. As for bloatware, the Bravo 15 didn’t come with many of them. Norton 360 took up the most storage space, and it was very annoying to remove it. I wasn’t able to uninstall it from Settings because the uninstallation window was cut off, hiding the uninstall radio or checkboxes that I needed to click on. To get rid of it, I had to download the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool from their website, and run it to uninstall Norton 360. The removal of other apps, fortunately, were simple and easy as it should be, such as WhatsApp, Kindle, LinkedIn, and Spotify. MSI includes two useful 1st-party apps and they are the MSI Center and MSI App Player. With the MSI Center app, you can do several things, such as hardware monitoring (CPU and RAM usage, temperature), toggling gaming mode, choose among different performance & battery modes, toggle hardware features (Windows key, webcam, 144Hz refresh rate), set GPU mode (full discrete, hybrid graphics mode), laptop diagnosis, and firmware and driver updates. The other noteworthy MSI app is MSI App Player, and it allows one to download and run games from the Google Play Store, which is pretty neat. === Battery life === For a gaming laptop with a discrete GPU (Nvidia RTX 4050 6GB), the Bravo 15 surprised me with its endurance. With Chrome and Edge open with the display at 60% brightness, the laptop lost 57% of its charge in 2 hours, with about 1h & 30 mins still left. It took about 3 hrs & 40 mins before my battery level went down to 2%. Not bad. === Is the Bravo 15 worth the coin? === Yes. At this price point, I think the Bravo 15 offers good performance and a good value. The 6-core AMD CPU and integrated Radeon graphics keep Windows 11 and apps running fast and stable, and the Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU allows smooth gameplay and framerates when gaming at 1080p. The NVME drive from Samsung means bootups are short and quick and the file transfers are fast. When performing general tasks, the Bravo is very quiet and keeps the system cool. MSI has done well to create a competent and well-balanced machine that is priced fairly. Bravo~!

For 800$ The motherboard has a decent boot speed, only takes a few seconds for me. The BIOS is a bit limiting when it comes to overclocking. Motherboard has two nvme 2.1 slots for storage which I used to install a 2tb nvme drive since it only comes with 500gb originally. In order to get the bracket needed to mount a second SSD you need to contact MSI and ask for one, it’s completely free. The GPU is alright, though it doesn’t run high end games very well unless you lower your settings to the minimum. Resolution is pretty great, with a max refresh rate of 144hz. Fans are pretty loud and it tends to run hot, this isn’t an issue for me tho since I wear headphones. Will probably have to replace the thermal paste at some point. Overall I’d say in terms of price- considering everything, you get what you pay for. It’s not super overpriced since it’s on sale 80% of the time. Would not buy this full price, that’s a waste. I was able to grab it for 800 but I’m sure it will go on sale for less at some point. I adore this laptop.

In my search for an affordable PC that could surpass my basic needs, I looked for one capable of handling demanding tasks, including high-performance gaming. While I haven't extensively tested its gaming capabilities with high-demand titles, my experience involves smoothly managing over 10 open tabs while running resource-intensive applications like Blender and Unity for personal projects, all without any noticeable slowdown. The laptop impresses with its swift startup, launching applications promptly as expected. While I usually use it plugged in due to what seems like a relatively quick battery drain, it hasn't posed a significant inconvenience during my usual work setup, whether in a chair or on the couch. If you're planning to use your computer similarly to how I have been you'd likely be pleased with your purchase. For prospective gamers, I recommend checking additional reviews on gaming performance. Ensuring the specs of this computer are enough to meet your needs. Good luck!

This is my first MSI laptop or computer from the brand. It looked to have all the specs I wanted and the gamer centric keyboard caught my eye. While it did take a little getting use to when not gaming. It ticks most of the boxes for gaming whether on the go or at home. And unlike some laptops at this price level, MSI lets you fully upgrade RAM. The Bravo 15 seems to be the entry level system from MSI. Materials might be plastic and lower cost to produce. It does not feel like a compromise. MSI has bracing or something under the keyboard that makes it rock solid and enjoyable to type or game on. The oddity for me is that it took time to get used to the clear blue keys under W A S D. Hit my eye a little weird. And the FN key is to the right of the spacebar. But at least we get full size arrow keys and an included number pad for games that make use of it. Performance wise. The Rizen 5 is plenty snappy. High end gaming looks to be easy enough with the RTX 4050. Playing Cyberpunk looks good and runs well on the built in higher refresh screen. Be ready for lots of fan running anything more than solitaire or basic web browsing. Not tragically loud, but not quite library friendly. And if it matters, most if not all air is exhausted out the left side of the laptop. While budget friendly and equipped with a good starter drive and amount of memory. MSI clearly lets the owners of their products have the freedom to upgrade. Unlike other manufacturers who solder one or more banks of RAM to the board. The Bravo still can be upgraded to at least 32GB. I will also be upgrading the M.2 storage to something a bit faster and a lot larger. But out of the box there is more than enough PC for anyone. Battery life is typical, 2 - 4 hours without gaming or using power saver features. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. Spend more for RGB colors or screen type. Or Buy The Bravo 15, save some money and be able to play now.

This unit is turning out to be a very nice little gaming laptop. I was slightly disappointed about the lack of a larger screen, but the thing that immediately stood out to me was how light and compact this was. Typically for gaming laptops, they are very heavy and large and only "semi-portable". This machine is actually a laptop that you can take around in a backpack without needing to wear a weight belt! The size does not take away from it's capacity to run some new games on ultra settings either. I booted up one of my favorite games that require high settings and it ran smoothly on ultra settings without issues. The fans do ramp up when gaming, but its not too loud either. The vented bottom creates good airflow as it appears. The keyboard is pretty nice, although I prefer a little more concave keys personally, but never the less no real complaints. I will say the addition of a small numpad is appreciated. It is a good concession to include but not making the laptop giant and 10 key looking. Windows 11 took some getting used to, but once you learn where to navigate it is pretty intuitive overall. The machine is fast, but I would have definitely preferred a little more hard drive space. The addition of the M.2 expansion slot will make upgrading very easy however but having this stock would have been a nice touch. The overall build quality feels very sturdy and not low quality. So far the battery life has been decent but not exceptional. I imagine this is heavily dependent on use and how much heavy gaming you are doing. I would definitely recommend this laptop for anybody looking to get in around the mid-tier gaming price point. It is a very solid machine and I am happy with its quality for mobile gaming.
