Customers are saying

Customers regard this 15.6" gaming laptop as having excellent performance and impressive graphics capabilities, praising its keyboard and lightweight design. While some users noted the fan noise and heat generation, many felt the positives outweighed these drawbacks. The laptop's build quality, portability, and SSD/hard drive combination also received positive feedback.

    Best Buy Monitor is Terrible

I went to the store about a week ago and looked at this computer. The one on display had a beautiful IPS screen, just like the business laptops. When I got this one home, I found the screen was dim and poor quality. After much research, it turns out it is technically and IPS screen, but -- apparently -- Best Buy models now have a cheaper screen than the standard model. Very disappointed. (Also, for some reason, all Best Buy laptops with NVIDIA cards have NVIDIA control panels that only show 3D Settings and are missing dual-monitor settings). Will return.

    Nothing but problems

This is the 2nd MSI I've had to return. This one had the network adapter keep disconnecting the first time I traveled with it and within a month a bearing went in the fan and geek squad can't fix so they are swapping it out. I have not been impressed with MSI for the money I expect a lot better.

This laptop look good & seems to be preforming feel so far, only thing I dont like is that it has a big emblem that pops out on the top of the outside case & that the power button is on the side.

    Good specs, corrupted windows

Specs function pretty well, but the laptop came with a corrupted version of windows that I only discovered by accident. Make sure to verify your software before the warranty period ends!

I really like the computer, but there are a few times that things happen way slower than I think they should for how powerful it is.

We bought this device for my daughter for her freshman year as an engineering student. Twice we have sought customer support for a "green screen" when playing video files. Today she goes to Geek Squad for an in person consult. . . frustrating as it is only 2.5 months old.

    It’s a decent gaming laptop

I was talked into getting this instead of an Alienware 17, mostly because of the weight. It’ll run games okay, but not at high frame rates or high settings. After a few times playing, with only two games installed, it froze up and wouldn’t even restart. I had to hold the power button to get it to turn off. You could definitely buy a better desktop PC for cheaper. Pretty well disappointed with the performance.

    Great Computer, Terrible Fans

This model constantly has problems with overheating. For whatever reason, the bottom is covered in a foam like material and offers no ventilation for the components. After about a year, the fans will slowly die out. I had to replace my original laptop exactly a year after purchasing it. Luckily, I bought the protection plan and the defective unit was replaced. Last night, I turned it on and now this one's fans are doing the same thing. Of course, the protection plan expired a few months ago and the manufacturers warranty conveniently excludes the fans because it is a known issue with these laptops. If you're just looking for a temporary laptop, I recommend it. But I do not suggest planning on keeping this around for years. Waste of my money and time.

The MSI GS63 is a terrible laptop

    Posted .

The MSI GS63 is total garbage. The fans have been incredibly loud since I bought the laptop about 2 years ago. Now the laptop frequently crashes and boots right into the UEFI (bios). I will never buy another MSI product. I have been working with computer hardware/software for over 25 years and I have never had a computer with more problems. The battery lasts maybe 45 minutes if I am lucky.

    Not 120hz Panel

MSI's Website advertises this PC as having a 120hz screen: https://us.msi.com/Laptop/GS63-Stealth-Intel-8th-Gen/Overview However as I finished Microsoft's silly setup process and finally logged in, i went to the display settings and did not see any 120hz option. Only 60p. What a bummer. Not sure I will be keeping this PC. First MSI Notebook too, what a let down.

Has known hardware defects (e.g. laptop hinges break the screen) just search the internet and you'll see - I would recommend avoiding after a big waste of money
