I bought this laptop for my son because he is going to college and needed a laptop that’s powerful enough to do his work and at the same time can handle his gaming hobby when he needs to relax. We were debating between Dell G7 and MSI GS63. The spec looks similar but we decided on MSI due to it’s appearance, built material and better review even though it costed a little more. The laptop is amazing in terms of performance. It’s quick at startup, it is a thin, light and comes with a clear 1080 display which it’s really nice when viewing video or playing game. The battery life is decent and the keyboard is customizable as well, adding on to the personalized element of the laptop. When playing games, both the framerate and the graphics are impressive and frame lag is basically nullified. It’s a well-made laptop and we were glad that we’ve made this choice to go with MSI.

I upgraded from my 2015 MSI 17" beast of a laptop to this one. I am extremely happy with my purchase. The laptop is slick looking, light and thin. I am able to play all games so far on high and ultra graphics without a single hiccup. My old laptop would fire up like a jet engine and get really hot, this one is very quiet and barely heats up. Very happy with my purchase and highly recommend it.

Great Laptop, love it, awesome looks, feels really great, excellent build quality. Couldn't be happier with any other laptop for the same price. The sound is great, RGB keyboard is cool. Overall, very happy with the purchase. So, I bought this laptop mainly to play pubg, and some other games. So, it handles pubg very well on high, no lag, smooth gameplay, very happy about it, and met my expectations. I bought this laptop just because I travel a lot, and I want to play games in my free time while I'm traveling, that's what desktop can't do. Got only 2 cons on this laptop, lack of rest area for left hand so that's the big one, and the second one is a touchpad, you have to really press hard to hear a click on it, but that's not a big deal. well, of course, fans are bit loud, but that's what you get when you are buying a gaming laptop. All in all, I like it and I'm happy that I picked this one over Asus/ROG.

I bought this for the technical specs. I often run multiple VMs and perform tasks that are resource intensive so I decided to try a gaming laptop. After reading all of the great reviews, I figured I'd give it a shot. Also figured it might be a way to ease back into PC gaming.
After using a very expensive Dell Latitude series laptop for years, I can honestly say this is a well-built device. It's aesthetically pleasing, feels sturdy, keyboard is solid, screen is excellent, and runs great. People have complained about the trackpad but I can't comment I always use a mouse. The fans can get noisy but I've only experienced this on rare occasions. No computer is going to be perfect and people will always find something to nit-pick; however, I think this a great machine and the positives far outweigh any of the negatives.

Fantastic But Noisy

I purchased this laptop primarily for gaming and streaming. I have another laptop that functions as a more work related device however I might just consider putting it on the shelf and using this one as my primary work/play device. It is incredibly small for the amount of power that it puts out and when it is plugged in I am running games at an easy 60FPS. The customizable keyboard is fantastic and I spent an uncomfortable amount of time changing the colors and playing with the designs. My only complaint is that this laptop runs hot when playing slightly more strenuous games. I have a cooling pad that it sits on but it still runs loud due to the fans pushing the heat out. Don't get me wrong the ventilation system is great but it's just loud. Last thing I want to mention is the screen. It is a beautiful display. Simple as that.

Moved from MacBook Pro.
Some observations and comparisons.
Cool keyboard, nice key travel, many levels and colors of the backlight.
Nice body, tough, but noticeably sags around the screen.
Need to be careful when carrying without a cover in a backpack.
Good color and screen brightness.
The touchpad loses to the apple one, but not bad.
Good cooling system. Under load (in games, render, video editing) the fan noise becomes quite loud. This is a charge for power.
Bright LEDs on the butt of the case, at dusk or at night, noticeably beat on the eyes.
All the necessary ports are SD, USB, HDM, Thunderbolt.
Powerful charger, relatively cold.
A large number of additional software, easily deletable if needed.
I am satisfied, I hope that we will work a lot with this machine and fruitfully.
Thanks a lot.

Great laptop for gaming on the go

A lot of gaming laptops I have come across were bulky and heavy and that did not work out so well with me; however, the MSI GS63 Stealth is very light yet provides the overall power of the bulky gaming laptops even equal to a PC. Allowing more comfort when bringing it along, it is also convenient for me as a computer engineer student giving a work and play duality. The two hard drives it comes with is very convenient one the regular hard drive for the games and then anything important I know they are safe in the solid-state drive that comes in the laptop. It comes with a great amount of RAM already, so you can jump into gaming immediately, so you do not have to upgrade anything. Overall everywhere I go and whenever I take out my MSI people are impressed by the sleekness, the specifications, the design, and the colors from the SteelSeries keyboard. The greatest investment I made towards a computer and great investment for anyone in the future!

Great laptop! Fantastic for gaming, schoolwork, various programs, and surfing the net.
Very sleek design that doesn't have "gamer swag" hurting your eyes or creating a target for potential theft. Great (RGB programmable) keyboard that looks and feels solid.
No hiccups--fantastic performance with every game I've thrown at it.
My only complaint is that it does get a bit noisy under load (depends on the game or program of course), but if you wear headphones (like me) then it doesn't really matter.
Definitely get your money's worth out of this with the fantastic GTX 1060, 8th gen Intel i7, and the 256 GB SSD. Seriously powerful!
Overall, I am quite happy with the purchase and foresee great use coming out of this machine over the next few years.

This computer is perfect for multitasking and gaming. Plays Forza Motorsport 7, Forza Horizon 4, and Fortnite smoothly. Fans do get pretty loud, but not noticeable when earphones are used.
Battery life is decent, lasts me through half the school day, but don't expect to game without having it plugged in.
Speaker aren't the greatest, so I suggest having a good set of earphones handy.
Coming from a Surface Pro 3, this computer has more than enough memory to go back in forth between apps. Also since I did come from a Surface Pro 3 with multi-finger gestures, there was some tweaking I had to do to get it to work properly.
Overall great computer! If you do a lot of multitasking and like to game, this is the computer for you!

I purchased this laptop to do schoolwork on as I go back to school as well as being able to game on business trips and it does not disappoint! I love the sleek design and its so lightweight that its easy to take along. The metal construction is very firm and sturdy, although it does smuge easily at first. The power is outstanding, being able to play games at well over 60 frames per second and is even VR capible. the keyboard is the highlight, being able to be programmed for different light shows and even giving feedback on certain games with the steelseries software. Im getting about 4 hours of battery during gaming, so excellent there. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking to game and stay mobile.

This is a very nice laptop for the money. it is very lightweight, and feels like it is a quality built machine. I bought the competitor's brand to this which was a little more money, and the thing was so flimsy I needed to replace it the very next weekend. I was directed to this machine by the knowledgeable staff at my local BestBuy and I haven't regretted buying this so far. Any game I play looks amazing on it, and it travels well in a backpack on planes. I've already recommended this laptop to friends at work who are also in the market. Don't forget to register and download your free copy of Black Ops 4 after buying this!

I bought this laptop for college. I am going into engineering, so I need the power of this laptop. It has plenty of storage, great feeling keyboard, it light yet powerful. The few games I have played on it ran perfectly on ultra settings. It's also, great at driving gaming head sets. The fans do get a little loud while playing games on high setting, but that is expected. And after you finish playing it cools the gpu and cpu very quickly then it quiets down. If you like RGB lighting you will love this keyboard, as a bonus it has a number pad great for entering lots of numbers. I have no complaints about this laptop really and I love it.

I has been A month since I purchased, and I've had nothing but a great experience with this machine. Can cut thru normal school processes like web browsing, Word, PP like butter. I can Run VMware while completing other tasks for class. I haven't gotten a real chance to play PC games but in my limited time playing Fortnite, its been a fantastic upgrade from console. Light for a gaming Computer great to carry around. Battery Is great I been averaging 5-6 hours on regular out of the box use with power option tweaks. Great computer!

I do extensive research before buying something like this, and after looking for weeks, I landed on this. I am not disappointed. If you are looking for an all around performer, then this is the one you want.
I looked at all brands and types. I looked super high end to super budget. This seems to be the perfect sweet spot. I originally wanted a 1070 as I have a 1080ti in my desktop and didn't want to notice a huge gap. The 1060 in this does perfectly fine with the 1080p display. I have maxed out everything so far with no issue. GTA V, Doom, and RE7 all run beautifully maxed out. These are my go to games on the road as hotels usually have crap wifi that won't allow multiplayer.
I travel very frequently and spend a lot of time in hotels which is what made me start searching for a gaming laptop to pass the time. This has been one of the best purchases I believe I've made in a long time.
The keyboard feels amazing to be on a laptop. The RGB effects are completely programmable. The speakers are decent for what this is. I would assume most anyone getting something for gaming will be using a headset, which is what I use when gaming. For watching youtube or anything casual they do just fine. The screen is gorgeous. I use a 1440p at home, but this 1080p looks just fine especially being paired with the 1060. The only thing I don't really like is the trackpad, but does anyone ever? Once again I would assume anybody using this will have a mouse, as I do. The trackpad just takes a bit of force to click. Maybe down the road I'll get used to it, but I rarely use it anyway. I've managed close to 4 hrs on battery which I think is pretty good for something like this. The software that it comes with is also very useful, there's no real bloatware to the system.
I would suggest swapping the hdd to an ssd at some point. The 256 gb M.2 is okay, but I swapped in a 512Ggb nvme 960 evo. The 16gb of ram should be plenty for gaming, and is upgradeable to 32gb if you think you need it. There are 3 usb 3.0 ports, 1 usb 2.0, 1 usb-c, and a sd card slot, so plenty of ports for attaching externals. Overall I would recommend this over anything else in it's class. If a 1060 will be enough for you then this is the sweet spot.

I was stuck between the MSI and an Alienware. I chose the MSI due to the slick profile. So far for me the performance has been great. I have been able to run most games at max performance no problem. I like the keyboard. The customizable colors add a nice touch. I would say the only thing negative I have to say about this laptop would be the trackpad. I usually use a mouse for gaming anyways so that is not a big issue for me. I really like how I get the gaming performance without having to to carry around a brick.

I'm not a gamer - not at all. I've been looking for 6 months or more for a laptop with enough power to handle Photoshop and video editing, which I do often for clients.
In particular, I wanted an i7 with 16GB RAM, and preferably with both SSD storage and a standard hard drive.
I never considered a gaming laptop, just because my searches have filtered them out. But last week a friend suggested I take a look at them, and recommended MSI.
I have to say this model checks all the boxes - i7, 16GB, SSD + HD, and an excellent graphics card with additional dedicated RAM.
Wow, have I been impressed so far! I've used other laptops that were i7 + 16GB, but none of them have matched the performance of this machine.
It boots and programs load really fast. It's so fast in fact that I'm actually looking forward to editing videos again, something I dreaded on my previous computers.
Screen looks great, and something else I like is that it has plenty of USB ports for my existing peripherals. I've been really annoyed lately looking at laptops as most seem to have maybe one standard USB and have otherwise gone to the USB type C connection.
The other thing that has impressed me so far has been the build quality, compared to the other lower cost consumer-oriented laptops I've seen. This one feels solid and sturdy, and I believe it will last a long time.
Yes, it costs more than many other laptops you'll see. Believe me, I'm an old-time cheapskate and I hate to spend money! But this laptop will help me earn my livelihood in a better, more efficient way, and in my opinion is well worth the extra cost.

I was looking for a gaming laptop that I could use as an actual travel/work/leisure laptop that could do both work and gaming and this truly exceeded my expectations. The case is a beautiful, aluminum and thin and light compared to the clearly cheaper Omen and bulky and still plastic Alienware equivalents. It is new enough to Best Buy that it wasn't on the shelves in the config I got, which has the 8th Gen I7-8750H and upgraded nVidia geforce 1060 with 6gb rather than the budget 3gb version. Between the new processor and the vidio card, I've been running games like Overwatch and PUBG on high with a standard 60fps and no lag.
