Great Laptop but does get hot and throttle the CPU
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't had any issues with this laptop yet. I do think that MSI preinstalled software isn't great and I reinstalled windows and set things up on my own. Pros: - Very fast for a laptop - 144hz monitor - Can play anything I want when not at my desktop - Easy to use for work and doesn't look like a gaming laptop Cons: - Very hot when gaming. Not something you can put on your lap. - The SSD could be a little faster. Not nvme. - Preinstalled software Overall a very good laptop

Very Pleased - Don't think you could do better!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my 13 month old Yoga 910 motherboard, SSD and monitor went out (and was not repairable) I was extremely cautious sorting thru all the similar machines before spending another 2k. After much research I stumbled upon the MSI and while I am not a heavy gamer it was a no-brainer to spend a few more dollars for this premium computer rather than one that will be under-powered/broken or obsolete in a year or two. So it's only been a month but I am well satisfied as it is subtly cool, thin, light and more powerful than I will ever need. The case feels and looks expensive and while it will ever so slightly flex you should not be twisting it to test it. There are two display hinges which are sufficient and the gold trim is a nice touch. Keyboard and touchpad mentioned in other reviews work flawlessly (as they should) with perfect feel and response. Battery life = 6+ hours web browsing, videos & word processing even at maximum brightness. I could go on and on but you get the picture.

Great And Powerful Machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is everything that's been advertised and more. I picked up this best buy version because it was the best value. For $2000 you get a model with GTX 1070 MAXQ and a screen with 144Hz refresh rate. Although you compromise on a slower SSD drive, the boot up and overall load times is still super quick. Overall this is a powerful, sturdy and thin laptop. My only concern was, that it was running a little hotter than comfortable on boot up, but nothing too hot.

Great overall package.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like this laptop a bunch, the size is perfect for carrying around and it has a simplistic design that does not look too gamer like. Very powerful as well especially for the price vs others. Build quality is good enough for me but might feel cheap in some areas to others. Battery life is also good for what it is. Only con is the screen which has really noticeable light bleed that is also uneven. that does bother me at this price point but overall is a great machine!

Great for Streaming!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just started streaming video games and knew that I would need a beefy computer that could handle everything from VR to sidescroller, but I needed something that I could tote around for my busy lifestyle. It looks like a laptop, but don't be fooled it feels like a desktop when in game. Have this has broadened my horizons in gaming - I'm not afraid to run more complex games in order to save my machine from a total meltdown. Heat hasn't been a huge issue, but I have it up on fans so I think that helps a lot. The set up was easy and I have never had a computer run so smoothly when multitasking. There were no problems with setting up a game capture card and no freezes during live streaming- something that has plagued me enough to look for a new computer. Honestly it's a huge 10/10 would buy again. The keyboard is a nice touch with the lights and the screen is crystal clear. Bonus points for the dragon etching on the cover.

Solid gaming laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for my 14 years old son primarily for gaming, but he also plans to use it for school work next year. It is not a perfect computer, but it is a solid choice. I would give it 4.5 stars Pros: - Fast CPU and good graphics - Comfortable keyboard and cool keyboard lighting - Light and portable - Sleek design Cons: - Fan is quite loud - Laptop heats up quite a bit after prolonged use Bottom Line: Solid laptop and would recommend it.

Stylish, powerful, and almost perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a new laptop in hopes to use it for school and gaming, and while I haven't started school yet, using it for 2 months playing steam games has been great. I've had 2 other laptops in the past and I couldn't believe how fast this laptop starts up windows and all my downloaded games. I can run just about every single game I'm interested in (from Fallout to Rainbow 6) on maximum settings. It functions like any laptop and the fans are somewhat loud, but pretty good for a laptop. Many people complained about the bottom of the laptop getting very hot so I bought a $15 cooling panel for the bottom. The screen display is very very nice and controlling the presets is awesome with MSI true color. The RGB colored keyboard is among one of my favorite features because everyone who sees it has to ask what else it can do. All in all the MSI GS 65 stealth thin is nearly a perfect laptop and I am so happy to be an owner of one.

Beast gaming laptop without the bulk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all I would like to say that two days before this laptop was released I purchased a MSI ge72mvr062 from best buy. I have been shopping around for a good gaming laptop and I really thought I would have enjoyed that one. I think I would have too if they wouldn't have released this one. It absolutely kills the competition, it's a measly 4 pounds with a near bezeless 144hz refresh rate screen. 8th gen i7 processor which makes the battery life unbelievably good. I really can't speak highly enough of this thing. Few complaints would be that it is a little flimsy. The one I received doesn't have any creaking sounds coming from the chassis like others but I would definitely be careful with it. Also games like Witcher and Skyrim on ultra will get this thing hot. Not unbearable but with the smaller chassis it is harder to distribute the heat. If you can overlook those few flaws by all means pick this bad boy up.

Best thin & light gaming laptop available today
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am extremely impressed with this laptop. I've put it through its paces in games like Destiny 2 (120-140 fps), and even the notoriously poorly optimized Batman: Arkham Knight manages 80-90 fps with the Nvidia exclusive features enabled. My "worst" performance so far has been in The Witcher 3, which still pulls off roughly 60 fps with max settings and Nvidia hairworks enabled. This laptop is thin and light with a gorgeous screen, even if it isn't 4K. My only concern is the build quality -- lots of plastic seems to be used here to keep the weight down -- but I don't think that alone should be a showstopper. The included hard drive is a little small at 512GB...bear in mind some singular games today can be pushing 100GB. I've been using an external hard drive for additional storage, so that's an easy fix. Overall, I'm happy with this laptop, and it's quite powerful for the price. A great bargain!

Excellent multipurpose gaming laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have absolutely zero complaints at all about the laptop. It functions excellently as a gaming laptop, able to play all the latest games at 100+ fps. It is also great as a everyday use device. The battery life last for 5+ hours of continuous streaming and it has all the functionality of a regular business laptop. This is also complimented by the fact that it does look overly "gamey." There are no overly sharp angles like other hardcore gaming laptops, and all the lights can be customized to be turned off. Mine had a small piece of metal rattling around, but after opening up the 15 or so screws in the back I could easily remove it. Overall the back is quite accessible, and very simple to take apart and put back together. The screen is great with the 144hz display, and the io has plenty of support for external monitors and such. Overall a great laptop, 10/10.

Beautiful design, beautiful specs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a beautiful machine in regards to its design and specs. The gold accents are subtle, the metal body is light, it is relatively thin and light. Yes, there are lighter and thinner laptops out there but certainly not with this 8th generation i7 processor with double six-cores (12 cores total) and dedicated 1070x graphics card. So far everything works perfect. I use the system mostly for 3d modeling, graphic design, image and video editing and rendering. The system is swift and quiet. A few recommendations for personal tweaks out of the box: WINDOWS -disable Windows Cortana -adjust privacy settings -adjust intrusive app permissions -check and uninstall undesirable bloatware SYSTEM -change default 125% zoom to 100% -merge empty D partition to the system C one (NIUBI Partition Editor or similar will be needed) -calibrate battery

the ONLY laptop you will need.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I searched and searched for a gaming laptop that had the power and resources I needed to run my VR system. I needed more than 2 USB 3.0, needed a powerful processor, etc...this thing has it all....and best of all it is thin and light. I absolutely love it. The USB C port makes it even better giving me the ability to add ports, hdmi, etc....there is no end to the resources this machine brings to the table. The only issue is that the fans kick in and make noise,,,but seriously, what do you expect, it has a GTX 1070 video card with 8G of RAM!!. The only reason not to get this specific model is if you want to spend a little more to get higher end storage system, like MVNe. For me, I am happy with a standard SSD. TL;DR you could spend 3 or 4k for a laptop, don't do it, buy the GS 65Stealth Thin, you will be very, very happy.

Great Machine!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before making any purchase this size, I try to do research and this is what I decided on. I got it yesterday but immediately put it under heavy strain right away trying to configure it how I like. Installed a lot of software and the fans only became audible twice. I do wish best buy had the same accessibility to the other configurations as this machine will be difficult to upgrade given the flipped mobo. Sure the build is not rock solid but I do not plan to travel often with it so I am not too worried. I feel it is sturdy enough for my usage. It is also quite beautiful. The screen and design are great. And the keyboard and lighting software is cool too. This has most of the specs I am looking for and I could drive down the street to get it. It is fast, responsive, and powerful. A good buy. Would recommend all day!

Everything I hoped for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop a few days ago. I decided to pull the trigger after watching a couple youtube video reviews by David Lee and some others. I highly recommend watching David's reviews if you are looking at purchasing a gaming laptop. What I like: Design: black and gold color scheme, very subtle and great looking Latest Intel processor GTX 1070 graphics card!!!!! (Best Buy version has the regular card not the Max-Q) Lightweight relatively speaking (not as lightweight as my HP Spectre, obviously, but with everything built into it I'm very impressed) 144Hz IPS display Relatively thin, especially compared to other gaming laptops like Alienware My daughter loves the colorful lit keyboard This is my first gaming laptop, it hits all the sweet spots regarding performance and size.

Great laptop for both gaming and work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I have to say that this is my second MSI laptop that I have purchased (first one being GE62VR Apache Pro) and I am NOT disappointed! The first one went to the wife because she loved the keyboard lights and the speed on it! That being said I was able to upgrade to this beauty, it is extremely light weight but don't let that fool you, this beast packs a punch. I have been running league on it now for a few days (couple of games a day) and this laptop keeps up. The battery life is also something that amazes me! Most laptops lose juice fairly quickly while gaming but this laptop has a really good balance behind it. Overall a great product!

The Most Bang For Your Buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The MSI GS65 is an incredibly priced, fully loaded, and finely tuned experience. The Intel 6-core processor, i7-8750H helps the system crush through tasks. The GTX 1070 Max-Q design is perfect for this thin and light design. It handles so many games at High quality. And the 144hz refresh screen is such a great pairing. By having the better screen and Max-Q and Optimus, you get a lot of battery life. The 82 Wh battery is also a great pairing. One of the best around, considering how light this laptop is. My only gripe I have is the slower SSD, I would have liked to have NVME SSD versus SATA. And the reversed motherboard makes expanding the storage and memory difficult. I truly enjoy this laptop and would recommend it to anyone looking for a laptop to last multiple years.

Great for gaming and playing WoW
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I have been looking for a laptop for about a year now. I Play WoW, HOTS, and Destiny 2 the most and a few other titles. Most of my time is spent on WoW and I have a desktop that does just fine but I am at work for 24 hours at a time and needed a way to get my game on. I weighed price/performance and future proof. I have had this machine for about two weeks now and I am very impressed. Now for pros and cons list. -Pros -Dedicated graphics are amazing with the 1070 MaxQ never dropped bellow 60fps on high settings 7 in wow i believe. - Screen brightness while plugged in is very good. -Keyboard is very tactile and easy to type on if you need to for work or e-mails. - Nice to have the light beside power button to know when your using dedicated or integrated graphics. -WiFi card on this unit had no problems maintaining speeds with no lag so far. -Cons -Gets way to hot to hold on lap while long gaming sessions. -Power adapter is on the right hand side gets in the way. -Way to much bloatware pre installed. -While not really a con the steelseries lighting is cool but i have not even touched it once. Over all I would recommend this product to a friend or anyone else looking to get a very good solid built on the go gaming station. Going to get a cooling pad for it soon to solve the heat on the lap issue. Hope this helps.

Amazing performance and build quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a gamer for years, and my desktop was starting to show it's age. I was going to upgrade it when I noticed that gaming laptops have really picked up steam. I was envisioning them having poor performance (relative to desktops) and big and bulky. I was very wrong. This laptop is THIN and LIGHT. The build quality is excellent and rivals Apple's offerings. Performance is amazing. Far Cry 5, at ultra settings, constantly pulls about 100FPS. Coupled with the screen, I am extremely impressed. I cannot speak to the battery as I have always kept it on the charger, but I never have any issues with long gaming sessions. The price may seem high, but you are getting an extremely high quality laptop with exceptional performance. I am very pleased.

Another Great MSI product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third MSI and with each new purchase I'm always pleased with the improvements made in their products. A big part in my decision to buy the GS65 was the 144Hz refresh rate as I'm big into fps games. Normally I would be carrying around a large monitor to accomplish the same thing so I'm glad that I won't have to do that anymore. The only con that I have had with MSI in the past is their Dynaudio speakers. They just seem quiet and sound a bit tinny. It does get hot and the fans can be loud, but it's a gaming LAPTOP so I expect this. It's a fairly common complaint with all gaming laptop brands. Anyhow this is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a lightweight, very portable gaming machine.
