Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard's affordable price, ease of use, and solid performance. Many appreciate its user-friendly BIOS, extensive features including multiple USB ports and fan headers, and compatibility with various components. The inclusion of USB-C and RGB lighting are also frequently praised. While some users found the motherboard slightly large, the positive feedback significantly outweighs the negative.

Yeah, I was stir crazy and did a COVID build. It was my first PC build and was chore to find parts that were affordable and in stock. This thing is/was the highest rated B450 due to it's VRM construction features and price. ($115) It truly lives up to that reputation. Mobos are easy to enough to install so I don't need to go into that, just beware the IO shield the day those are just attached on the board are largely here with mid to high end B550 and X570 boards and need to just to be the standard. The board has got status LEDs a BIOS flashback option USB-C header plenty of fan headers and a nice RGB strip for those that like that.

    The Little Board That Could!!

3900X - 6 cores 4.325, 6 cores 4.350 overclock G.SKILL TridentZ 32GB - F4-3600C15D-16GTZ @ 3600 14 14 14 35 FClock manually set to 1800 I am super impressed that this board offered as many settings after the permanent bios update for the 3900X. I tried super speeding the ram to various speeds up to 4000 cl17, and overclocking fclock on another test, but fabric overclock pushed some auto voltages, and the cpu got too warm for my taste. I actually lowered CPU voltage and ram voltage lower than Auto settings, and this gave the best gains at lower heat. I am running the stock Wraith RGB cooler with this setup and overclock 24/7

Performs as advertised. Easy Overclocking. XMP and clock features preprogrammed into bios for different cpu's and RAM kits. Easy to use Bios. Nice heat spreaders. Supplies ample power. Surprisingly crossfire compatible. Multiple RGB headers. Very Nice Bios saving feature to external usb drive, has a PUSH BUTTON FLASH! Feature. Accommodates an M.2 lane. Has a somewhat weird SATA port configuration with two being down on the bottom of the board, but not really a problem. The B450 chipset does everything the X370 chipset did. So, just because it is labeled as a "B" in this case does not discount it as necessarily a board that cannot do everything that you need. Very good sound quality for what it has on board- not amazing sound depth, just, for the price, very good.

Probably one of the most popular mobos for AMD am4. It's just a very good basic motherboard. Obviously there can be issues when it comes to buying a mobo.. just make sure you test it after you build your system and/or keep an eye on how your system is performing. One thing I hated about this mobo is the I/O faceplate. Companies really need to find a better solution. They're sharp and can cut you. They're annoying to put on the chasis. As of right now.. I wouldn't pay more than 80-90$ for this old-ish mobo. For a bit more you can get a new mobo that would 100% be worth it if you plan to upgrade what-so-ever in the future.

I usually do a lot of research before buying any product, and before this purchase, I made sure it was out of the box ready for Ryzen 3000 chips. As advertised it worked perfectly out of the box without any bios adjusting. It was an easy install as usual, and couldn't be happier with the performance.

I'm in the process of buying parts for a new PC and the recent price drop on the B450 Tomahawk Max has really made this popular board affordable. And the fact that AMD announced that there will be a one-way BIOS upgrade to allow B450s and X470s to run the forthcoming Ryzen 4000 CPUs has made it doubly attractive. Now I don't know whether to stick to my original plan to buy a Ryzen 3700X CPU or wait for the Ryzen 4000s. First world problems!
