I returned a asus M16 I purchased because the fan noise even with headphones on was too much… this thing is so much faster and the fans are so much quieter even when it’s maxed at 150watts on the gpu.. it’s not much bigger or heavier than the M16 so the tons of extra performance is worth it.. if you can grab one on sale don’t hesitate

I ordered the MSI GE66 Raider Gaming Laptop because the specs looked great for the price. The Best Buy store I ordered it from price matched the price I found on Amazon so I was pretty happy with the purchase.
So I was extremely disappointed when I opened the box upon delivery and found a used and broken laptop. I had to take the laptop to the Best Buy store for a complete refund which they gave me on the spot as soon as they saw it.
I don't know where in the supply chain this happened so in all fairness I can't say for sure if a Best Buy or MSI employee did this but needless to say my faith is shaken in both companies. I still have to buy electronics and accessories at Best Buy out of necessity but I don't have to buy any more MSI products and it will be a long time if I ever decide to.

The specs on this laptop are amazing and its performance is among the top 5 laptops on the market today. I was able to get Geekbench scores of 1,780 (single core) and 13,554 (multi-core) and Cinebench R23 of 15,718.
The display is great. The bling of the LED lights is, um, a bit overwhelming at times but you can turn it off or set it to anything you like.
I planned to use this for video editing, not gaming, but I returned it for a couple of minor things that are my personal preference only -
- I found the trackpad to be a little loose and require a lot of effort to press it
- to me, the trackpad did not have a slick surface and my finger was getting sore from pressing and sliding it across the trackpad
- the amount of room for my palms to comfortably rest on the deck while typing was too small
- the volume hotkeys were on the cursor keys and you had
to use the Fn key to activate, and I found that quite inconvenient.
The build quality is excellent; I'm pretty sure it is all aluminum; it is a really good-looking laptop. I wanted to love it, but I just couldn't live with the issues I mentioned above.
I returned it and got an Aero 16 XE4 which I really like so far except for the lack of ports (though they give you a USB hub) and having to press the Fn key for speaker volume since there is no Fn lock. btw, the XE4 uses DDR4 memory which has not inhibited performance at all. I get 1814 Geekbench single core and 15059 Cinebench R23.
