Great gaming on MSI Laptop! :-)
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very happy to bought this MSI laptop is my first time with Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM DDR4 and Nvidia RTX 3060 (6 GB VRAM). Just four things are not great are 8 GB RAM DDR4 (Samsung brand name), 512 GB SSD is not enough and battery life is 1 hour! No Sata port on motherboard when I opened cover of this MSI laptop to check it. I tested one PC game name SpellForce 3 and running very smooth near 60 FPS. That's great news! Also can play Nintendo Switch games on Yuzu emulator and Ryujinx (New Super Mario Bros U Delexe work great on this). I'm very excite to play Zelda Breath of Wild game on my MSI laptop and it's running smooth and it's great news!!! :-) I heard warranty stick on under laptop is wrong. I removed warranty stick and clean stick off under my MSI laptop means will not void warranty because I already upgrade my RAM from 8 GB to 32 GB DDR4 (Crucial is high quality brand name - support up to 3200 MHz) and add 2 TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus for storage to store more games on it. I bought Western Digital external hard drive 18 TB for this laptop can store a lot, lot of games on it! Because storage become very popular right now. To MSI company: Please stop put warranty stick under laptops. Thank you for understand. I'm not noob (new person) or basic person. I'm already know skilled upgrade my computer parts for my desktop and mini desktop computers before. Too easy for me to do that. I still using my HP desktop that come with Windows 7 Professional SP1 and bought from HP website in year 2013 - August and still very stronger running to now. Almost 10 years old and it's very solid desktop computer. Always remember very important is first to disconnect battery from motherboard and wait 1 - 2 minutes then remove 8 GB RAM stick and install two of 16 GB RAM ( sticks and add one 2 TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus. Then plug battery connect back to motherboard and put cover back on to secure then start up to boot and it's working so great! Very easy to upgrade that's what I needed. I heard someone said this MSI laptop support Linux without problems. I'm very happy for that about Linux support! :) I refuse upgrade Windows 10 to 11 because I saw many people are complain due to unstable operating system made by Microsoft. I always stick on Windows 10 for many years and will still use Windows 10 after end of support. I don't like Microsoft. I will move to Linux for my next gaming computer (desktop only) to replace Windows gaming in next year. To MSI company: Your computers are high quality parts and are doing great job! I will not buy DELL, HP or other cheap brand names anymore. I know ASUS, Asrock, Gigabyte and MSI are four top good quality brand names. I'm happy gaming! Cheers :-)

Great value if you can manage cooling issue
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read many reviews about this laptop and finally bought it when it went on sale for $799. This is probably the best value laptop you find that has an RTX 3060 mobile. I play primarily Halo Infinite, so I use that as my benchmark. Out the gate, the performance of this laptop was poor for the game. You MUST make your own custom cooling profile in MSI Dragon, otherwise the CPU reach upper 80s to lower 90s C, and the game will just run so choppy due to throttling. After adjusting the fan settings in MSI Dragon to be more agressive and sooner, as well as propping up the laptop on a wire rack, Halo Infinite runs so good. Very smooth motion and looks sharp/crisp. My CPU temps run in the mid 70s C with medium settings and resolution scaling at 169%. I did not try undervolting CPU, as changing the fan settings was enough for me. CPU usage in game runs about 80-90%, while GPU usage runs 80-90% also. My only other complaint was that the 8gb RAM is not enough. My RAM usage approaches almost 100% in game, and I get a warming as such from Norton every time. I have order some 32gb DDR4 3200 SODIMM and hopefully this will eliminate that problem. Overall, for $799, great value laptop and would definitely recommend. By the way, mine did come with a camera and you have to enable it by pressing

Good for price if get on sale
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Msi pack lot of performance for the price. It still best wait for when it on sale when it more idea what I think machine worth at $850. Pros: newer Intel i5 RTX 3060 6 gb lot of ports like usb A and usb C. Decent screen. Expand add m2 slot and strongly recommend upgrade 8 gb ram single ram stick to 16 gb dual channel. Light for what get cpu and gpu Cons: weak cooling performance under heavy load. Weak battery life gaming or not get maybe hour-2 max, Dragon center buggy cause freeze up due to hybrid gpu uninstall fix issue. Hdmi out not great as max 1080p 60hz or 4K at 30 hz. Tech savvy GPU only rated at 80 watts fyi Over all good bang for buck if get on sale price. Play most games at high settings in exception run hotter which I would recommend install throttlestop and down clock the turbo boost help quite bit in lower cpu temp. Due to hdmi out didn’t meet my expectation I ended up return it and get something meet my need but end up having spend more for sale cpu and gpu option.

Good laptop, but needs a lot of work
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price, especially on sale, it's not a bad laptop. I got mine for $799. This laptop will work out of the box for general use, but for gamers it needs a lot of work. For starters, upgrade the RAM. 8gb is just not enough today, and you're holding back the 3060. I would also recommend installing a second SSD, as there is an open expansion for it. But the biggest issue with this laptop is it's absolutely terrible cooling. This laptop will get very hot. So much so, that after hitting 80° Celsius on the cpu while running a game for 5 minutes the entire laptop crashes. Light games, that do not take a lot of power or graphical performance, you might be okay, but you have to use MSI Dragon Center to set up a custom cooling profile. The default fans kick on after it gets way too hot, so it needs to be set to kick on sooner. For demanding games, there's no profile that will keep the laptop cool enough. Max fan speed, and still after 5 minutes it will shut down, due to overheating. To fix this, you need to get a laptop cooling pad, and you don't want to go cheap here as its the only thing that's gonna make this laptop work. After you have upgraded the RAM, and purchased a good cooling pad for the laptop, I can say it is a beast. It just takes a lot of steps to get there, which I was surprised by for being a brand new unit. FPS wise, I was able to play Elden Ring at 1080p at high settings with a consistent 60fps. But don't expect this performance with the laptop out of the box. Finally, and this is a personal preference, but the laptop will switch back and forth between the CPU integrated graphics and the GPU dedicated graphics. This made some programs run poorly until the laptop decided to switch graphics processors. In the NVIDIA Control Panel you can set the preferred default processor to the 3060. 4/5 stars because it needs extra work to be good, but is a monster when setup. The Audio is also very good. Update: Battery performance is not great because even when not gaming and just using laptop for general purposes, expect a battery life of around 3.5 hours, maybe 4.

Excellent Budget Gaming Laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be honest, this is my first ever gaming laptop. I gotta say for $799.99, it is well worth it. It plays AAA titles smoothly, relatively quiet under ideal conditions (lifting the laptop for it to intake air), and has a nice 144hz screen. Of course it does has its downsides, battery dies in just 2 hours of use of just watching youtube videos (which I’m pretty sure you’re going to use this with the charger most of the time), build quality is a bit on the cheaper side (edges are pretty rough), and this does get extremely hot after 30 minutes of gameplay (which people recommend of underthrottling it). All in all, you do get sacrifices in making this laptop to be priced cheap. Great choice whenever this laptop goes on sale, and for people that don’t have 1k to shell out for a gaming pc or laptop.

Best laptop you can get when its on sale
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 1st laptop that I bought myself. Very good laptop got it on sale for 850 and I dont think you can get a better laptop for the price. The downsides to the laptop like the small ram and SSD can be easily upgraded. The battery is pretty bad, lasts about 3-4 hours and might want to buy a cooling pad if your gonna do some heavy gaming. I bought a Corsair Vengeance SODIMM 2x16gb ram DDR4 ram and a 970 Evo Plus 2 tb SSD while it was on sale. I bought them both on best buy and used a philips screw driver from a phone tool kit I have but had to borrow a PH1 for one screw that my small one couldn't pull out. I watched about 3 youtube guides on opening up the laptop and was able to put the ram and ssd in. After you put it back together you'll have to connect the charger to the laptop and after turning it you'll need to format the ssd your laptop wont be able to use it right away, you can search up a guide on how to format a ssd on google and it'll be very easy and quick to do.

Fast for the money (fastest?), with a few tweaks!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this at $799, at this price it's a heck of a deal. This is my first gaming laptop (gaming pc too) in 13 years. With a few performance modifications this things rips! I immediately bought and installed Corsair Vengeance 2x8Gb Ram ~$70 (easy to do, although breaks factory seal, case bolts are all same length, be sure to unplug battery cable!), and made a few adjustments for better performance. #1 Uninstall Norton. That program is completely unnecessary and a memory hog - just keep windows up to date with all security fixes. #2 MUST DO FIX The CPU ran HOT at idle (75-80C), so in the Ultimate performance mode I've capped the Max Processor State to 95 or 90% (see image attached). This produces similar results to undervolting or installing throttlestop. With these updates the computer isn't constantly running the fan and the CPU temps drop to 55-60C at idle. I've gamed on Gears 5 and Apex Legends - with the back of the laptop elevated, the fan will just kick on every now and then when things heat up. The games look incredible! I'm completely stunned and satisfied by the performance of this machine. I paired this with a Razer - Basilisk X Hyperspeed Wireless Mouse and I am considering buying a nicer 144hz monitor to take advantage of the incredible graphics! RTX 3060 75W ftw!

Bargain Laptop with good GPU
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let’s start by saying it’s the only computer brand with a 3060 under $1200, but on sale it’s a real bargain. The memory is so-so and for the price I get it (8gb), Storage is not bad for starters, I like the feel of the big keyboard due the the fact that there is no num pad…meh. The screen has a good refresh rate, but the color accuracy is off a decent amount. The mouse pad is ok, but I use a gaming mouse so it doesn’t affect me. The fans can get loud, but they keep the GPU running cool. Overall great laptop for the price.

Solid machine, MSI FTW
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine has been very solid the past 6 weeks. I absolutely love that I can crank the graphics up in all games and get at least 60 fps (depending on the game) and turn them down to achieve 144 for COD. The two things that lack are memory, and storage. I filled up my storage already, and although 8 GB memory is enough, it doesn’t allow this laptop to reach its full potential. Neither of these are huge deals, I knew this would be the case going in. Both are easy to upgrade. MSI has easy access panels, and for that I will always buy MSI. Reliable, Upgradable, and overall just an awesome deal. I was lucky enough to grab this at $800 new, but even at it’s $1,100 price it is still a great laptop. The battery will last 6 - 8 hours when using at 60Hz on power saver, which helps with school/work. The fans are a bit loud, but they keep it around 75°C under full load. My previous MSI desktop (only a couple years old but very entry level) is still serving well as a gaming machine, and has had no issues whatsoever, except the fan lights are a bit faded.

My first gaming laptop ever.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this machine. I primarily got it to play old games like oblivion and starcraft. It runs those games like butter. My macbook air 2017 just cant keep up with these gaming laptops. Dont get me wrong apple software is really good but nothing can truely repalce windows. Im currently selling macbook air as ive had it for 5 years and never really used it because i cant play games on it. This laptop is a beast i upgraded it with another ram stick to 16gb and a 1 terabyte Samsung 970 evo ssd. Yeah t runs way better i highly recommend you upgrade the ram and add another m.2 if want more space because 512gb is decent but more is better in thiw case. Just know these are not meant to game without being plugged in to a outlet so always make sure your near an outlet before you game because you will get a maximum of 2 hours of playtime on the batrery alone. Other wise its a great investment if you are looking to play modern games and old games ans switch from apple os.

Super solid budget gaming laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Rtx 3060 keeps fps high, my fps were higher on external screen. Quiet compared to higher end laptops under heavy load. Relatively easy to upgrade ram and ssd. Add 150 bucks to make it 16gb ram, +512gb ssd Has all kinds of ports Gets warm on the top of keyboard under load. The bottleneck is core i5, which is noticeable when running apps on CPU. The plastic attracts fingerprints. The screen max brightness is kinda low. I had to return this after two weeks because I went with msi delta 15 best buy black Friday deal, which was 400$ more just because it had and Ryzen 7 5800h which was more suitable for my needs.

If you catch it at $899 BUY IT! Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop maybe once a month will go on sale for 899 during a 24hr flash sale! If you can get it for the 899 instead of the 1099 usual price, it’s a fantastic deal! First things first, you MUST add 1 stick of additional 8GB of RAM which you can buy online anywhere for about $30-$40. YouTube the installation steps. Very easy! Once you do that you have a very nice mid-level gaming laptop. For those looking for game fps examples: halo infinite did 100-144 fps on Medium and 60-85 fps on High. Hitman 3 was about the exact same as halo. First person e-sports like Fortnite, apex, or split gate all will do the full 144fps at Ultra settings! This would be great upgrade if you’re coming from a 1650,1660ti, or even a 2060 or older. If you have a 2070 or a 2080 currently, this isn’t worth the purchase. You’d need to go 3070, 3080, or 6700m if you want the best of the best. I’d say this MSI laptop will be a a modern Machine for the next 5-6 years. I’d personally say this machine is about the equivalency of an Xbox Series S or a PS4 Pro. ALL laptops get a little hot weather they are $3000 or $300 so don’t be spooked by the amateur reviews you read online. I’d rate this 4/5 stars. You won’t get an RTX 3060 for under 1k otherwise.

Great Gaming Laptop, but turn the fans up!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop features great specs for the price, just be sure to open MSI Dragon Center and set the cooling parameters in the advanced options in the 'User' scenario option if you want to maximize the specs. Dragon Center also sports a battery balancing option if you plan on keeping the battery plugged in for extended periods of time in effort to preserve the battery. It is a thin and light gaming laptop, but cooling quicky becomes an issue, if you aren't prepared to deal with it. (use the above instructions) With the RAM only being 8GB, upgrading the GF65 Thin 10UE's RAM capacity should be next on your list. Be sure to buy Notebook computer DDR4 RAM (SODIMM) and carefully use the one of the prominent video guides on YouTube to install it. (May possibly void warranty so use discretion!) Most importantly of all, enjoy gaming on your MSI GF65 Thin 10UE Laptop!

Terrible Quality Control, Good after fixes
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great little machine with some upgrades but the quality control is terrible. I wanted something that I can play AAA titles with when I’m traveling for work while keeping a 144hz refresh rate. This checks those boxes. I don’t fly often so spending 1k+ on a laptop wasn’t worth it to me. It came packaged great and on time. It wouldn’t connect to the internet so I used either et (figuring it was just a driver issue). I went through all windows updates, Driver installs and fixes. Nothing fixed the WiFi. I already bought 2 new G.Skill Ram sticks (3200mhz) for $55 on amazon for it. I figured I’d do that in the meantime and get back to the WiFi issue afterwards. When removing the back cover, someone at msi half installed the WiFi M.2 and screwed it in. They bent the mounting slot and I thought the card wasn’t going to be salvageable and it was screwed in with some force. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. Luckily, it’s ok and it’s good now. Performance wise, it needs a cooling pad to have any shot of gaming. It runs way too hot. I got it to run Apex, Warzone, and Valorant at about 120-144fps in 1080p high settings with some bios tweaks. To unlock the gpu potential, you need to install new drivers from Nvidia directly (using the masters ones from 5/24) then go into the Nvidia control panel and change the power management mode to “prefer maximum performance.” It runs in default 40w, it will unlock the 75w setting boosting your frames to the max it can do.
