So I've always build my Gaming Desktops and never really given a gaming laptop a chance since a desktop is easier to modify, add and take off hardware, something we are obviously restricted with laptops.
Love the RGB Keyboard and the settings on controlling it, gives it a very nice cool feel.
I was wondering how the GTX 1060 would perform and man I was well more than satisfied with it. I have played Rainbow Six Siege, GTA V, and League of Legends, all at very high settings and I have not gotten one second of lag.
I probably will be upgrading the 16gb of RAM to 32 but so far I have no reason to do so, 16gb has been enough for the gaming that I do.
I did add a couple of gaming Accessories as well, like the Razer FireFly for my Gaming mouse (idk anyone that games with the touchpad) and my Razer Pro 7.1 V2 Headphones.
I love my gaming desktop, but now I am able to take my gaming with me and still play at high settings and that has made me be super happy with this purchase. I can take my gaming on the go and I am enjoying every second of it.

Being someone who has built multiple gaming rigs over the years I was skeptical on what a gaming laptop experience would provide… But I have to say I am more than happy with the performance of this machine. I have always been a fan of MSI boards for their smart engineering and reliability and I can see they have translated that beautifully into this laptop. I can run any game full blown as well as VR with no issues whatsoever. I love the overclocking features that are at just the push of a button. The form factor is impressive being that it is quite thin for a dedicated gaming laptop. With the fans on fullbore the machine runs pretty quiet and when not in hard-core gaming mode it is completely silent. The only downside to this machine is the trackpad which is difficult to use… But I am highly used to apples track pads which are the best of the best and if playing any games I'm using a mouse anyway so it's not really that big of a deal. It has a very wide array of ports to support just about any configuration. Including a mini thunderbolt which is cool because I can hook up one of my apple thunderbolt displays as an external monitor. As far as the monitor is concerned it is pretty nice ... when set at the correct angle of viewing the image quality and contrast levels are impressive… when not set to the correct viewing angle however the screen loses almost almost all "view-ability" if that's a word. The keyboard is really responsive but it does take a little getting used to the keys are a bit spongy but after a few minutes of use they started feeling better and better. The lighting on the keyboard is a nice touch but I wish you could go just a couple degrees dimmer on its lowest setting ... that may be a software setting though and I just haven't figured out how to set it. The battery life is pretty good and it comes with MSI software that will help extend battery usage. The machine auto adjust its performance level based on whether it's plugged in or not which is really a great feature because it something I don't have to think about… Overall the machine is really well put together and for the price point I am very happy with the performance it delivers. Every engineering choice made by MSI feels very deliberate and well thought out. I would highly recommend this particular machine for anyone who wants a great mobile gaming experience as well as a fantastic VR platform!

So I've had the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro for over a month-2 months; I got this laptop for the purpose of doing all my college class work, using the AutoCad programs, and to play video games such as OverWatch during my free time. This is my first laptop, as well as first product review so I can't really come up with much to say other than I don't regret purchasing this laptop, and I love it so much! I didn't get the 4K screen, since I'm not very picky about resolution, but the screen on it is good. This laptop is such a powerhouse its incredible that MSI was able to fit so much into a slim compact laptop. The laptop is light, the keyboard, and track-pad are great in my opinion, but I did get a wired mouse to make life easier when I play games and when I use the AutoCad program. The battery life can be a con, however, that depends on how the laptop is used. When I play games I set the battery to "best performance" the battery will not last long, however I plug in the charger and it'll all be good. When I don't play games I set the battery settings to "best battery life" and it'll last for a good while. I haven't timed how long the battery lasts in each setting so I cant exactly give a certain time. When playing games the top left of the keyboard will get somewhat warm, but that can be fixed by changing the fan settings to "cooler boost" and the heat will go away in possibly 40 seconds or so, it will not take long, however, be aware the fans will be loud. The laptop fans are very quiet until the fan settings are changed. I haven't really used the laptop speakers since I almost always use headphones or have the laptop connected to some speakers on my desk, but the few times I've used the laptop speakers was good enough for me. Don't let that scare you away from purchasing this laptop if you want to buy it, I have yet to find any cons other than the fan noise when set to "cooler boost", and the warm temperature from the top left of the keyboard when playing games. The pros for the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro outweigh the cons by so many miles it's remarkable.

I purchased this laptop (my first MSI product) a day before my old laptop finally kicked the bucked and showed the infamous BSoD. Although I have had this computer for less than a week, I am confident about my purchase and absolutely love it!
Everyone complains about the lag from the bloatware- to solve this issue, I purchased GeekSquad protection (I planned on this anyway) and they were able to uninstall all of the bloatware as well as to install a clean version of Window 10 (service is covered under GS, you may have to wait a day or two before getting the computer though, so plan ahead). I will state that the computer is REALLY fast and I have had no issues with lag.
The keys are backlit with red, and MSI signature color. To my knowledge, there is no way to change the color (not an issue for me, I love the red keys). The sound is crisp and clean and because the speaker is near the screen, it is like having surround sound stereo.
Some reviews state there is not a number pad off to the side, but that is false information, there is.
The one bad thing about the laptop, aside from the touchpad would have to be the webcam, as it is blurry and unfocused.
This computer does not come with an optical drive, so you will have to purchase an external CD/DVD drive should you need or want one, but the good news is that gameplay should not be affected even if you purchase a cheaper brand.
Works well with a Razer Naga mouse, and PC compatible gaming controller. I have not tested the VR yet, as I am waiting to purchase a VR headset, but will update once I do.
The colors are a bit off, but they are not terrible and it is easy to get used to after a few hours of use.
The keys are pretty soft and "mushy," but they are spaced out well and gentle for those who use them for hours on end (as an online university student and a gamer, I use the computer more than I sleep).
Battery life is on average 3-5 hours, but while in use takes about 2 hours to recharge.
Overall, this is the best laptop I have ever owned and I look forward to trying out the VR in the future.

This is definitely the best lap top I owned, I recently bought the ASUS republic of gamers lap top to play the oculus rift on and on the 2nd day I took it back because the computer just went black and didn’t turn on. I saw this lap top and never Hurd of MSI so I decided to try it out since Asus let me down and I could not be happier. Plenty of USB ports for the rift and I love the way the keys look. You can also change there colors in the settings which is cool. It’s been a month know and everything works really well, graphics look amazing. Worked better than the ASUS when everything was working. Well worth the extra hundred for it.

Been almost three years since I have purchased this laptop. It is a good quality laptop from my experience. The build quality is good haven't experienced any issue. Though the battery is deteriorating at this point. Holds about 2 1/2-3 hours now before having to charge it. That is if i'm watching videos, as for daily work 4-5 hours. Gaming is good though it takes a demand on the laptop depending on graphic settings and can get loud and extremely hot to the point you think it'll overheat. CPU and GPU temps got to 80C-90C a few times while gaming. Then again its been almost 3 years. Take note I use this laptop daily for school, work, and watch a lot of movies and shows as well as gaming. I've put thousands of hours on this laptop and my current up time is 518 hours (21 days without a reboot no lack in performance). The only issues i'v experienced is with the rgb lighting on the keyboard only a handful of colors work. Had some issue with the fans getting noise, but after opening the laptop up and cleaning it out they seem to quiet down. The only other issue is with MSI dragon center and the true color software for the screen would sometime adjust by itself and change on its own messing up my configurations. MSI software is okay. Though this is rare only happened a handful of times. Overall I like it and my next laptop next year will probably be another msi. If anything give it a shot and judge it yourself.

I purchased this computer for my son about 6 weeks ago. So far, the only issue we have encountered is the wifi adapter turning off, which I discovered to be the battery saver mode turning off wifi to to conserve the battery when unplugged. A minor inconvenience but easy fix. He plays multiple PC games, Occulus Rift, and uses the computer for his coding classes, and has not complained about the computer lagging or any other issues.

If you are looking for a slim gaming laptop this is it! most traditional gaming laptops are big bulky and heavy not this laptop this laptop is slim!!! and somehow they figured a way to pack a 1060gtx 6gb, I7-7700, 16gb ram, 256ssd and 1tb hard drive into this slim and light chassis. you would think the with all this hardware it gets hot well let me tell you it doesn't . Now for the cons it does come with plenty of bloatware you can easily uninstall whatever you will not be using and that is that. also battery life is not the greatest I can usually get close to 2 hrs of gaming out of one full charge. just make sure you bring your charger with you and you are set.

Decent price gaming laptop, purchased as a laptop for college ended up being a bit over powered for my needs. Still find myself prefering my desktop when im home but this is great when traveling or at school, in terms of gaming it can handle quite alot i have had no issues with demanding games such as pubg. Biggest con is the fan noise it is very loud when you are using the gpu sometimes so loud i can hear it with headphones on Would recomend if you dont already have a gaming pc or are consistantly on the move, very pretty and well built as well

Bought this laptop for a laptop to use for school but also so my girlfriend could do some light gaming with me. Laptop works wonders for both, it’s go powerful internals and a nice looking screen. Laptop is lightweight just shy of 4 pounds. Steelseries keyboard feels nice and responsive. Comes with ample USB ports. The only real downside I have is the battery life is short, about 3 and a half hours doing school work and much less if gaming. But that’s part of the trade off to have such a thin laptop.

I'm not going to go in great detail with a review about the obvious as you can simply read others reviews about this laptop all over the internet. I will say one thing about this laptop - it's a powerhouse. It can handle anything that you throw at it at 80+ fps with everything maxed out.
Like I said above, rather than write a full review, I'm going to point out some "what you gotta do's" when you buy this as well as point out some possible "deal breakers."
**To the people who are thinking about purchasing this or already have it and are noobs - pay close attention to the following...
There are 3 things that you want to do with this as soon as you buy it.
1. Replace the 1TB hard drive. It' will get rid of the lag that you will hear people complaining about that have this model and the previous 6RF model.
2. Do a fresh install of Windows 10. Wipe all of the MSI junk and bloatware off of this laptop. You're stupid if you don't. Sorry to be harsh but if you'd prefer to keep the MSI junk just re-download it after you preform a fresh install. You'll thank me later.
3. Undervolt the CPU. As with most gaming laptops, the CPU is fed too much unnecessary power and causes temps to jump into the mid 90's while gaming. If you think this is OK then you're nuts. Simply go on youtube and search how to undervolt the i7 7700hq and download either program and undervolt the core by 0.100 volts. You'll notice that the CPU never goes over 85 celsius.
Also, for those that want to know - these are the temps that I'm getting after doing everything mentioned above.
Idle GPU(nvidia) - 50 celsius
Idle CPU - 45 celsius(down from 55-60 celsius before undervolting)
Gaming GPU(nvidia) - 85 celsius playing GTA 5
Gaming CPU - 82 celsius playing GTA 5(down from 95 degrees)
**Also, if you've ever heard of coil whining, be prepared to become it's best friend owning this laptop. There's an ambient yet sometimes annoying whining noise coming from the i7 kaby lake CPU when you have the power setting set to high performance. Set it to balanced to reduce the noise. Also, after undervolting it will also reduce the noise a little more so that you won't hear it anymore unless you try to hear it, if that makes any sense.
Any questions, reply to my review and I'll try to help out.

My Asus Rog died the week before Thanksgiving this year. I had purchased it just over 4 years ago and love it. So I knew I needed to make a decision about a laptop in time for the Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals, if I wanted a new laptop at the price I wanted to pay. I truly considered all of the major brands and even considered getting just a business laptop instead of a gaming laptop. However, after reviewing many reviews, and many pc and Mac laptop reviews, I decide to get a gaming laptop again.
Best Buy could order or ship almost any of the brands I considered but I wanted to touch and see the laptop before I bought. So I went into the store the day before Thanksgiving to look and the only gaming system they had was the MSI, which to be honest was my number 2 pick because of price, ASUS ROG, was just a little cheaper with similar stats and build.
When I got into the store and saw the MSI I was in love but still concerned about the price tag. When I found out that it would be on sale the next day at $250 off I was sold.
So just a few details, the bloat ware is terrible, I did not reinstall windows as many have, I just turned them all off except for the sound and video experience software and I may yet turn those off. The computer is faster than any I have ever owned. It plays Eve Online, PlayerUnknown Battle Grounds, and Diablo 3 on max settings with no difficulty at all. Graphics are flawless. I have the laptop sitting on a cooling tray to help with heat dissipation, but it does not appear to have a heat problem, just better safe than sorry.
I love the feel of the keyboard, but I do not love the mouse track pad, it is off center and is in a bad spot for my larger hands, I tend to hit it when I do not intend.
All and all, great laptop, it works amazingly well and does exactly what I want it to do!

I bought this laptop just as I was starting college, because I needed a laptop for school, and a desktop was out of the question due to my then unstable living circumstances. And since dropping out of college, I've been using this laptop as a "replacement" for a desktop now that I'm in a better living situation.
It fulfills all my needs, from gaming to editing and onward. I have it hooked up to a Dell 144hz 1440p monitor, and am happy with the results I'm getting. I can run most of the heavy hitter games on Medium to High settings and get 75-90 fps, 60 when it's really struggling. When I'm on the go, the built-in monitor isn't the greatest admittedly, but it gets the job done.
I'm looking to build my own desktop soon, but will definitely be keeping this laptop for at least 3 - 4 more years with any luck. Though now that there are RTX GPU laptops on the market, I'd say wait for a price drop on a laptop with a GTX 1080 to get the most bang for your buck.

I bought this laptop for my husband and while it is advertised as a gaming laptop, he liked the power and video capabilities. He is using it for a wide variety of apps, but it is very impressive with data analytics; number crunching and graphical displays. The SS harddrive provides fast app startup and the secondary 1TB harddrive allows for mass data storeage.
Here is the breakdown of pros and cons:
Pros:
Speed, power, nice looking laptop, plenty of USB ports and room for other peripherals.
Cons:
Keyboard layout; especially the Home, End, PgUp, and PgDn keys are a pain to use. It has a number pad, but if you use that, you virtually lose the ability to use your Home and End keys unless you are comfortable holding down the Fn Key as well as the Home/End. My husband says it is a PITA, but not really a deal breaker.
The space bar is kind of touchy and some times you will think you hit it, but it doesn't register. Make sure to proofread!
The number pad has a smaller '0' key which, again, is not a deal breaker, but takes some getting used to the small '0' key when your thumb is used to a larger key.
Another Con is the display is not touchscreen. This is not a big deal to my husband, but something to note.
Also, the MSI app seems to crash on startup every time. Not a deal breaker, but more of a nuisance. Since most people disable the MSI apps or set them not to run at startup, this can be avoided.
Last con - the display is not great. You really need to be looking at it head on to see it. Any movement to the sides or up or down will give you a bad view. If you use a second or third monitor, this is not a big deal and the HDMI port and Thunderbolt port make this simple.
Overall, a very good laptop and he is not at all having second thoughts.

This is a very powerful & well appointed laptop. Lightweight, aluminum body, serious specs under the hood. How MSI crams this much power into a laptop so thin is beyond me. The only thing that leaves a little to be desired is the display. I'd expect a slightly better display for the price. But I usually connect to an external monitor so it's not such a big deal. I don't game but I do use Blender & Gimp and this machine rips through anything I throw at it.

I needed a new laptop in an emergency to temporarily replace a desktop for editing 4K footage in Adobe Premiere and some basic visual effects in After Effects. This laptop has a USB-C port, so my external G-Drive connected perfectly - and was maybe even reading the files faster than my desktop. So far, I've been very impressed with how much power and speed is crammed into this laptop. I don't use it for gaming, but I've thrown a lot at it with Adobe Creative Cloud software, and it's performing great. Strongly recommend this laptop for video editors looking for these specs, and it's priced well for the specs compared to other brands.
Be sure to run all the updates, including the MSI Dragon Center update and the graphics card before you really get started. There was a slight hiccup because Windows updated first, and the MSI software didn't really agree with those changes, but once everything updated completely I didn't have any issues. This issue didn't affect my rating since this is pretty standard for any new computer.
The laptop itself seems very sturdy and very well-built. The LED lights on the keyboard are pretty cool, and can be completely customized. The packaging was very well done. Opening a new computer is always fun, but this laptop took that experience to the next level.
Overall, very pleased with this purchase and impressed with the brand. I'd definitely consider buying an MSI again the next time I need a laptop.

Out of the box this laptop felt like it will last a long time, don't be in a rush to use it due to it taking hours to update, I did have a problem with the wifi disconnecting and would have to reboot to get it back, after going in and updating the wifi driver it has had no issues. This thing boots up in less then a minute and I have found nothing that slows it down!!
