If your looking for a workhorses computer at a budget price this computer fits the bill. It has bloatware that makes the computer run slow so reinstall windows and all the drivers and your good to go. The only negatives is the screen isn’t the greatest and the speakers aren’t either. If your gaming on a laptop though your probably using headphones anyway so then it won’t affect you.

This laptop gets the job done. It is a powerhouse with its i7 and the GTX 1060 6gb card can handle anything you throw at it, even VR. It works flawlessly with my HTC Vive.
This laptop does not have an IPS screen. the Best Buy version does not come with the "in-plane switching" monitor. If you are going to dock it and use a separate monitor, then you have nothing to worry about. If you plan on using the monitor as your main or only display, just pay attention to what tech the monitor is. Colors are good, but still not the same as an IPS. Granted, it is a little cheaper than getting one straight from MSI with the tech, so thats the tradeoff.
The laptop can get hot, so I purchased a cooling pad to sit it on.
Great price and well worth the investment. The system starts up really fast due due to the ssd.

This laptop has so much power I almost got burned by it. Seriously, it's amazing
The only slight caveats I found were that 1 terabyte was kinda cramped considering the steam games I like to have installed, I now have a 2 terabyte HDD, and I'm thinking of upgrading the ssd as well to a 500ish gigabyte one.
The laptop also gets VERY hot quickly. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting a cooling pad type thing so it's not starved of air since the intake fans are on the bottom. It will also keep it from getting too warm if you're using it on your lap.
Finally the battery is not great when the GPU turns on. Less than 1 hour normally of gaming when it's working hard.
Great portability, amazing power, you might need a storage upgrade, it gets VERY hot, the battery isn't very large.

This laptop has met all of my expectations. I have upgraded from a lenovo and I can definitely say it is worth it. The 4lb weight is nothing. Those who have lugged around gaming laptops will understand. Slim design but still amazing quality. The only flaw I can think off is that you NEED headphones. The sound quality without is very low.

Although it's technically my first MSI machine, I have used MSI mainboards and graphics cards for a few years and have always been satisfied with their ability to balance performance and price.
The GS Stealth Pro slim-bodied portable is a really nice piece of kit! The machine is surprisingly robust and easy to use for the mundane things like MS Office and Google Docs but is just incredibly fast when it comes to the graphics intensive world of image processing, animation rendering and games.
I love the Steelcase keyboard - for feel if not the light show. The IPS screen is a hotly debated item. To my eyes it's acceptable. It's bright enough for me in how I use it. But, it's not as easy on my eyes as my MacBook or MacBook Pro Retina screens. It's not bad, but you should definitely look at one using the programs or types of documents you handle.
Or if you use an outboard monitor or two, it becomes moot.
Overall, the quality feels and seems above average. And in the 2 months of ownership, nothing has failed other than MS WIN 10.
If you want a game friendly great value portable machine. I would absolutely urge you to check out this great machine from MSI.

I bought this to replace my old ASUS laptop. For the price it's difficult to find a better laptop. It's easy to carry around, battery life is pretty good considering how small of a form factor this has. The screen is alright, but to be expected with a 1080p TN panel. Hardware is solid. I haven't had any issues with work or gaming.

I bought this for gaming and encoding video. But quickly found out 30 seconds of prime95 or a minute of encoding, get the cpu throttling. It just plain cannot get rid of the heat or it would get 5 stars. I have a cooling pad, undervolted and turned off turbo to keep in safe temp.

This might be a great gaming machine, but I am no gamer. having a crash of my business laptop, i needed an immediate replacement wit power, speed and storage. This was recommended by the Best Buy salesperson as the best in stock choice that met most of my needs. (I would have preferred a bigger solid state HD and a smaller laptop, but it has a second 1TB hard drive, so storage is not an issue if you separate data and programs. The i7 processor is plenty fast and the 16GB of RAM is almost mandatory by today's standards if you do a lot of multitasking. Not quite the machine I consider perfect for the kind of business needs I have, but with a few modifications could be. For a gamer I assume this would be a fabulous buy. Love the lit keyboard. Makes typing in low lights easy.

If you are looking for a slim gaming laptop this is it! most traditional gaming laptops are big bulky and heavy not this laptop this laptop is slim!!! and somehow they figured a way to pack a 1060gtx 6gb, I7-7700, 16gb ram, 256ssd and 1tb hard drive into this slim and light chassis. you would think the with all this hardware it gets hot well let me tell you it doesn't . Now for the cons it does come with plenty of bloatware you can easily uninstall whatever you will not be using and that is that. also battery life is not the greatest I can usually get close to 2 hrs of gaming out of one full charge. just make sure you bring your charger with you and you are set.

I am not sure where to start, I could not be happier with my purchase of this laptop, I know many reviews make comment of fan noise and drive quality, I've not experienced any of these issues, I'm happy with the 1TB 5200 RPM HDD simply because I'm only using it for file storage. The 256GB SSD seems to be on par with any of my other devices running SSD. Every game I've ran or professional task I have thrown at this machine it takes it with smiles and marches on with the CPU running at a cool 85 degrees under wicked heavy load. The steelseries keyboard is a nice addition to the already incredible device. The exterior finish of the machine doesn't scream gaming computer and they have really done a quality job make a generally aesthetic device! Fan noise is another item a few people have mentioned but only under strong gaming load have I noticed the fan really ramp up otherwise it's a fairly silent machine. All in all if you are in the market for a powerful machine this is it. If you are on the fence about puling the trigger on purchasing this machine don't be.

I was looking for a light laptop replacement when my wife got us an Oculus Rift.
This changed my search criteria to something with more power capable of handling the games. I was not familiar with the MSI brand before I started this search. But after reading several online review and ratings from several sites.I chose this laptop for the combination of power, low weight, reliability, and customer service.
So far I have been impressed with this computer and have not run into any issues other than the length of time needed for the initial updates.
I recommend this computer if you are looking for a portable vr computer.

I was shopping for a replacement for my home desktop PC which was several years old. I was originally looking at another desktop, but a salesperson at Best Buy showed me this laptop and I was impressed by its stats, aesthetics, and price point.
I decided to give it a try, and I have not been disappointed. The combination of a SSD for the Operating System and a standard drive for data results in great disk reads/write speeds. The GeForce GTX 1060 video card generates beautiful displays. The included RAM and CPU result in blazing performance. And finally, the physical build of the laptop is solid; it doesn't feel like cheap plastic as it sometimes does on other laptop brands.
This is my first experience with MSI. I've had this laptop for two weeks now, and I have really put it through some performance tests based on how I use it. If it continues to perform as it has so far, MSI has won me over from another brand.

Lighter than most of the other gaming laptops which very nice hardware.
Most of the game can be run at 200 fps smoothly while opening other windows and hosting a server.
MSI provides a lot of supporting applications that are usually very useful when you need them.

Overall Great Laptop,
With a Core I7 7700HQ and 6GB GTX 1060, 16GB of ram,256GB SSD (237 Usable, Not NVME) and a 1TB (913 usable, 5400RPM) Mechanical drive, this thing flies.
It has one of the better keyboards I have tried on a laptop and the track pad is a bit better than average with mostly accurate tracking other than clicking can be stiff it’s a great track pad, This is an ELAN based track pad.
Speakers are acceptable. Loud enough for me personally. Not very punchy but they could be far worse.
Plenty of IO with 3 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port. GB Ethernet, Full size SD card slot, Headphone and Mic jack's, Mini Display port, HDMI, and of course a Kensington. This thing can handle any of your possible IO Needs.
Overall portability is great. Very light for what it has hardware wise. I use this laptop for a 50/50 balance of both work and play. Battery could be better I get about an average of 4 to 5 hours of battery on normal workloads (Web Browsing, Word Docs, Email, ETC).
For most you that are using this for gaming. Ensure it is well ventilated. It gets hot quickly. This thing will not thermal throttle if it has room to breathe. This laptop supports G sync on external displays if you have a monitor plugged into the HDMI or MDP. Under volt the CPU by .110 volts (Your voltages may vary) It lowered my temps by 10C and kept the CPU at full boost clocks at all times. I can play the games like the division, ARK, CIV, Rainbow Six Siege All on ultra at 1080P with average framerates around 60 FPS If you are trying to get into 4k gaming this is not the card for you, Look at 1070 based machines or better.
VR: This machine handles most games well. Ive done limited testing with the oculus rift and so far so good no weird issues it just works and works well.
The display..... It’s a 1080P TN 60hz display. It looks okay at best when looking at it directly. Colors are acceptable but the overall display looks washed out not sharp. The viewing angles are horrible and if you’re not looking directly at it display quality degrades. I would have easily spent 100 more dollars on this machine if it had a IPS display. I will be replacing it for a better display one day but overall it is okay. This display is not a deal breaker for me but for someone that is going to the display on this machine 80 or more percent of the time I would recommend getting one of the non best buy models a bit more expensive but it comes with things like IPS displays and NVME drives. for mobile gaming and work it works for me personally when I need it. When I am home it is always docked to my 2 monitors so it doesn’t bother me a bit.
Notes to MSI: Don’t let best buy water down your product. You make this laptop in better configs (IPS Panel, NVME Drive) I would have much rather you had cut the 1TB Mechanical drive and put in a better display then to have cut corners.
TLDR. Fast laptop, Plenty of IO, Portability is excellent. Battery life is 4-5 hours on non-gaming loads, Display is poor but usable. I give it a B+

Good price on sale for a nice, quick laptop. Got it hooked up to a monitor for better viewing. Once went thru and fine tuned it plus removed some bloatware, it runs fast with no glitches. Not quite up there with Alienware but good option for less money.

I'm overall very satisfied with this laptop purchased as it fits my need both professionally and for fun. I can have multiple VMs running on the laptop and it would still run like a horse. Gaming is fast and the screen refresh rate is great. The matte screen is a nice to have. It does reduce glare by a great amount but if you're trying to share your screen with multiple people sitting at different directions, it might be difficult to see (kinda a privacy screen kinda thing :)). The keyboard feels great, the trackpad is a little hard. A mouse would solve that problem. I also like that the RAM is expandable up to 64gb. I removed all bloatwares and basically installed everything in the D drive as I've learned that the C drive's capped and there're much more capacity on the D drive.
Overall, pretty satisfied with the purchase. Light weight and powerful.
