Customers recognize the GS66 10SE laptop's strong performance and excellent build quality, frequently praising its battery life and suitability for gaming. However, some users have noted issues with fan noise and keyboard responsiveness, suggesting potential areas for improvement. The price point is also seen as competitive by many buyers. While some found the keyboard layout to take some getting used to, the overall consensus points to a powerful machine with some minor drawbacks.

First MSI product. Looks a 100x better than my old notebook. Runs better too, no noise or heat after some test runs on max settings... So far so great.

Solid build quality so far about one month of heavy 8 hour day use with slight movement about 3 -4 times a week. Closing it with the middle of the screen makes a weird rubbing sound as the display bends in the middle a bit. Some software problems with MSI Dragon center but can be easily fixed with a quick restart or sometimes a redownload of MSI sdk which is easy to do. Comes with a nice micro fiber to clean the screen but not the overall casing as it picks up finger prints very easily.

I got my old MSI laptop 5 years ago after graduating high school and after 5 years of playing video games, streaming, existing in college, three moves, and daily use, it was time for an upgrade. I was super lucky to get this one on sale after saving for a few months. I've been using it for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. Yes, the fan is loud. But I honestly don't mind that much. I'm super happy with the graphics and refresh rate for the games I play (mostly the Sims 4, the Dragon Age trilogy, and Divinity).

This machine is pretty much at the top of the list for "bang for your buck"! The combination of graphics card, CPU, and SSD drives is pretty phenomenal, delivering solid gaming performance in a laptop on high/ultra settings. Quake Eternal on High settings will easily and consistently deliver 120+ FPS. The screen is not great, but it is firmly in the "good" category. The colors are adequately accurate for non-pro usage, as is the brightness, and the 144hz response rate is great. A solid display, even if not a high-end configuration. Keyboard and track pad are quite good, and the backlighting on the keys is quite nice and bright. The webcam with Windows Hello is a great feature. My favorite part is the "stealth" look, which means it doesn't look like a gaming machine. I use this machine at work without drawing strange looks from colleagues. It's really a nice looking machine that doesn't scream GAMING LAPTOP!!!
That said, for all its merit, this machine is not without compromises. 16GB of RAM in a gaming rig is a bare minimum; I bumped mine to 32GB, a $100 upgrade. Storage is another "minimum" at 512GB. It's just not enough capacity for hardcore gaming. The good news is there's an additional NVME slot, so you can easily add another drive. The speakers are pretty bad and sound tinny; you'll really need headphones or external speakers. The battery life under normal load is a barely acceptable +/-3 hours, under heavy load it's dead in 1-2 hours. It's heavy, no doubt about that. It's a beefy machine. The pretty brushed metal finish, while aesthetically pleasing, is a massive fingerprint magnet. If that bothers you, you're going to be miserable. Probably the most disappointing thing are the fans. Wow, do they blow and blow loud. Play a game and it sounds like a tornado.
All in all, I still say its a 5 star machine, for its price point. The Pros far exceed the Cons. Hook it up to a thunderbolt dock with external peripherals and you have desktop class gaming performance. Are there better machines? Absolutely, but they're much more expensive for comparable performance.

This is first MSI laptop I have. So far there is no problem with it. Nice keyboard( which is I like the most). Fan noise is acceptable. Laptop is not that hot like other even when gaming or doing some video and picture edit.
Only one thing I dont like is the laptop doesnt have SD card reader. I need to buy separate card reader. Overall, its a good laptop.

I purchased this laptop to replace an aging desktop gaming PC that I had built. It's much faster than that machine and a heck of a lot more portable!
I spent several months weighing several options, and when this went on sale, it was a no-brainer. It might be a tad slower than the newest generation gaming laptops, but if you're not doing the bleeding-edge games, I don't think you'll notice it.
The screen is excellent, it has more than enough power for my uses, and I love the look of it. While I would not call it "sleek" like some of it's competitors, it is utilitarian aside from the RGB keyboard. Personally, the more understated the better!
My only complaint so far is the "bloatware." Some of the software seems gimmicky or useless.
I've not yet been able to test the battery life, as it's only been off the charger for an hour at a time max. I went into it knowing this machine was not exactly class-leading in this department, and I assume it will be adequate for my needs.
All-in-all, I'm very happy with my first purchase from MSI!

LOVING the new laptop. It was worth a buy that I have made. I love everything about it, it is a bit loud but I dont mind it. I do mind however as the specs says about its battery and battery life is overstated. The battery life is great but the timespan of battery consumption lasting an average of 4-5 hours doped me. At minimal use, from 100 to 0, it lasted for 2 hours..... but overall I love the laptop.

Although it was not my first choice for a laptop (was looking for something cheaper) my friend recommended me this, and following his advise was the best thing I could do! Good for casual gaming, and overall use. Battery life is good, depends on the use it can last for hours. Sound and graphics are awsome, and the system it's easy to handle.

Ive had it for a couple years. Msi usually does an amazing job with their laptops. This is no different. Its an A tier laptop. Did the job. I played many different AAA titles on it. However, tbe major flaw with this laptop. And the onlt reason i rated it 3 stars is the cooling. I have extreme thermal issues. Ive taken it to the shop multiple times, spending hundreds to no avail. Do not buy this model or their newest stealth model if you play ALOT of video games. I probably average 6 hours a day. Wich meant maxing our the fans for 6 hours a day.. this laptop cannot handle that. If youre a hardcore gamer. Buy a desktop.

Very decent gaming laptop. My 12yr old was disappointed at first because Oculus quest ran very glitchy... AND a lot of reviews said it was 'low end' VR-ready. Happy to report that proper link cable and running VR with power plugged in solved the issue. Computer is sturdy, fast, has all the ports you need, and aside from gaming - it will work very well for school.

Great machine! Has ample room for SSD (2 nvme m.2 slots) and RAM upgrades (I got mine up to 64GB).
The GPU and CPU are amazing for the price and suit my needs for a development workstation perfectly. And I enjoyed the 144Hz refresh rate on the screen more than I thought I would.
The screen is incredible. I heard reviews stating it was on the low end of 290-300 nits, but it was much much brighter than the Alienware 17r4 that I replaced, to the point where I keep my brightness around 70%. The color features of MSI's Truecolor software did a great job too of getting a good sRGB color range experience that was neither too hot or cold.
This is my first MSI and I've had a much better experience than I thought I would. I love the feeling of the case and the keyboard typing experience was amazing.
The fans do stay pretty noticeable as far as noise even during idle operation (around 2600-2700RPM), but I'd much rather my laptop prefer caution instead of running hot and silent at the expense of long term wear out. When I went to upgrade the SSD and RAM slots, I noticed it's decked out in fans, so I feel pretty confident in the longevity of the purchase.
I have to say, kudos to MSI for coming up with a case that doesn't scream "I like tacky gamer design". My Alienware 17r4 was kind of an eyesore, but this is sleek and smaller.

I absolutely love this laptop. I needed a new laptop to operate several autocad softwares for school and work and this laptop does not disappoint. Love the steelseries keyboard which are always super high quality. Only drawback is the 720p camera.
