I purchased this laptop to primarily play games on it and I absolutely love it. While it does get pretty hot, the built in fan booster key definitely helps cool it down. And the RGB backlit keyboard is also pretty cool. I definitely recommend it.

This laptop is super easy to setup and customize to your liking. If you keep your house a little warmer (75°F+), you may want to invest in a cooling pad as well. Your laptop will get a little warm without a cooling pad, but provided you're using the maximum fan speeds, everything should stay below 90°C. With a cooling pad, though, everything has stayed below 85°C for me.
If you already have a laptop with a RTX 2000-series in it, you probably don't need to upgrade to this. However, if you're coming from a GTX 900 or GTX 1000 series card, this is definitely worth the upgrade. I previously had a GTX 1050 that was able to play Yakuza Kiwami 2 (a hugely demanding game) at 720p 30fps at medium settings. Now with this RTX 3060, I can squeeze out roughly 100-120fps at 1080p at Ultra settings. This is a pretty substantial upgrade from any GTX 900 or 1000 series card.
This laptop is incredibly fast. This has 16GB of RAM and an 11th gen Tiger Lake series processor with 8 cores and 16 threads. It can handle just about everything you can throw at it with ease.
My largest gripe about it is that it tends to come with a lot of bloatware, or software that's kind of iffy as to whether or not a person will actually need it. However, you can easily uninstall the stuff you don't need and never have to worry about it again.
One smaller gripe I have is that this thing shows off fingerprint marks wherever you touch it just because of the material it's made out of. It's not cheap material by any means though. The laptop is very solid and sturdy and will last a long time. It's just that MSI didn't apply any kind of coating to prevent fingerprints from showing up. However, MSI included a nice cleaning cloth to help with this situation.
Another small gripe I have about this laptop is that the fans are a little loud when playing super-intensive games. It doesn't matter much if you're going to be playing with headphones, but just do be aware if you're the type of person to play without headphones.
If you can get over the fans being a little loud, some annoying software that comes with the computer but is easily removable, and this thing potentially looking kind of dirty at times even though it's fairly clean, I would recommend this. It's perfect for playing games at High or Ultra quality settings with silky-smooth framerates. This laptop will handle just about anything you throw at it with ease and it's very customizable.
Again though, if you're coming from a RTX 2000 series card, you might want to reconsider and wait for something more powerful. However, for the many of you on GTX 900 and GTX 1000 series cards, this is worth every single penny.

First time buying MSI. Heard a lot of good reviews. First week of using the laptop the screen has major issues so I returned and got another one same issue started to happen again. The screen was flickering and whenever the color red would come up the screen's colors would shift and become duller. The fan is just too loud and the speakers are not functioning properly. Also the camera is just horrible. Very disappointed and will probably never buy another MSI

OVERALL, VERY GOOD LAPTOP. Only minor issues here and there. The only real bad things are how hot the bottom gets during operation (get a cooling station), and the keyboard keys get stuck easily with crumbs and what not, just clean it out). The battery life is decent, gameplay is great and overall performance is exceptional for a laptop. (Portable PC Master Race)

I bought this PC based on reviews and good past experience with MIS. However, this laptop was a disappointment. The screen started to flicker the second time I turned it on and it did that a few more times. Now the display is completed gone after a week.

Nice design and performance but poor quality. The monitor starts to flicker after four days of use and the MSI center has horrible compatibility with win10. When the monitor darkens out with the default setting, The MSI center starts to lost tracking with GPU temperature and the fan will never rotate. The keyboard also has a weird touch, it is too heavy for normal typing. Instantly decided to return it with so many problems.

You want a review, then I’ll write one, I’m very upset because after 2 weeks of owning it I am having to send it in to MSI for repairs on the warranty because the screen was messed up from the beginning, very disappointed in my purchase. I’ve had MSI laptops before and never did they give me this much grief before, honestly will reconsider purchasing MSI in the future and purchasing from Best Buy.

After a few months of use, I feel that this laptop met my expectations for the price, and hasn't crashed or given me any trouble (even though it runs really hot while gaming).
It benchmarks about 10% higher than the desktop it replaces (i7-4790k [email protected], GTX1660ti). The fans can be a bit noisy, but that's a given with a gaming laptop. The track pad is one of the best I've used, but the keyboard is a bit to low actuation for me (when compared to a thinkpad keyboard). The battery life is pretty good when used for web browsing and text editing (~5-6hrs without tuning things too much). I really like the ability to switch between rtx3060 and intel graphics for power/heat conservation. I'm pretty impressed with the build quality which is much better than other gaming laptops I've used. It feels almost as solid as a thinkpad without the creaking noise and flexing that I notice when using laptops that have a plastic chassis. The screen and audio quality are better than I'd expected. If you're using this laptop for remote work, the webcam is very low quality, so you may need an external webcam if that's important to you.
Pros:
Performance to price ratio
High build quality
Track pad feels great
Great sound quality (even from built in speakers)
Keyboard and track pad are centered due to a 10-keyless keyboard
Cons:
Poor webcam quality (720p is grainy even in good light).
MSI hardware control software could be better.

Overall give it 4 stars. laptop games flawlessly, most games mid-high graphics. build quality is nice with the aluminum bottom feels nice and rigid. I really enjoy the 240hz monitor but i did give it one less star just for fan noise it can get quite loud but you dont hear it much with a headset on. so overall i would recommend this laptop for anyone looking to get into a nice gaming laptop for this price point.

Amazing Laptop Overall

The build quality of the GS66 is amazing and so is it's performance which it consistently delivers. It also has a really good cooling system which gives the user good precise control. It has all the necessary I/O ports and features which really help you fine tune the laptop and it's performance. The keyboard also has a nice feeling for a laptop with some good travel. It's battery life is also way too good for a gaming laptop.
This laptop doesn't get the full 5/5 because I found it's speakers a bit lackluster as it wasn't as clear or as loud as I expected it to be. This wouldn't be a problem if you constantly use headphones.
There's also a small strip of plastic at the bottom of the laptop in order to help you open the screen with one finger. But this plastic strip has created some sharp edges and it isn't as flush.
I also experienced some problems with the Nahimic app for sound as it completely kept cutting out my audio randomly. The screen would also have this weird blurry 3D effect but all these problems would go away after some updates and restarting the laptop.
Although I mostly focused on the small bad things about the laptop, I still want to mention that it's still an amazing laptop and overperforms in every other aspect and expectation.

First of all the build quality of this laptop is good but not great, I don't like the touchpad, the size is good but the left and right click is hard to get it to the point sometimes, it is loud and hot specially when the cpu is under load, cpu z stress test alone make the fans scream loud and temps goes up to mid 90C in seconds specially when single threated (more on that later), also this is not an ips screen that I would like this has a TFT panel tho using the Nvidia Studio driver instead of the "Game Ready" seems to improve the colors a little bit but still not enough to my liking, but yea at the cost of lowering your FPS from my research (an Nvidia trick obviously), this is why Radeon cards tend to have much better colors out of the box...
Let's talk about Radeon software, Wattman is in fact much much better and fun than this old mid-90s Nvidia software, I can't do nothing with it besides changing resolution, refresh rate or rotating display etc (old stuff!), with Wattman you have full control of your system, tweaking, fine-tuning your games and video card, changing you fan speed, undervolting, controlling your temps to your liking and the list goes on and on... with this boring software is meh at best
This 11th gen cpu is nothing to get excited about, single core is fast but for a short time and yes it hits 4.6ghz but also the temps goes up to throttling limits in seconds, 4.2Ghz all cores is simply a lie https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i7/Intel-Core%20i7%20i7-11800H.html as this cpu will start thermal throttling in less than 10 seconds when under load, honestly this cpu is fast compared to previous gen but not as fast as Ryzen 5000 series cpu, you can tell that 5000 series is way snappier overall and still more efficient, I'm guessing Intel 11th is only comparable due to more L2 and L3 more cache and a little bit higher clock speed, other than there is no way to tell it is faster/snappier than 5000 mobile in long period of times
that being said, here is my overall rating on this laptop:
Build quality overall 8/10
screen panel 8.5/10 nice 240hz refresh rate
battery life 7/10 using dedicated graphics
11800h cpu 5/10 due to noise and thermal throlling
3060 8.5/10 cause stays relatively cool
keyboard 8/10 compared to thinkpad keyboard, it has nice rgb
Touchpad 7/10
Speakers 6.5/10 fairly loud but definitely mids are absent
Nvidia software 3/10 is meh at best

Overall this is a great laptop at the price point. I really like the look and feel of the keyboard, it feels really solid and nice to type on, unlike many other laptops I have used in the past.
Anyone interested in upgrading the laptop, it is pretty straight forward and easy to do. Opening the back panel can be tricky, I would recommend using a suction cup, worked like a charm for me. The machine had 2 m.2 slots and 2 ram slots. I expanded both with no issues.
Now about the battery, I feel for the power and performance of the machine the battery life is about spot on. Now, you can underclock if you so choose, or just sacrifice performance for battery life, which is what I typically choose. I get all day life out of the machine when I am not using it for gaming and have the battery option set on better performance.
Overall this is a solid machine and worth the purchase if you are in the market for a fairly high-end gaming laptop.

I have zero complaints about the laptop. The refresh rate is astonishing. The picture quality is rich contrast, and wow is this thing fast. Oh, and I can FINALLY enjoy Cyberpunk 2077! The RTX 3070 crushes the performance and graphics in that game. I hooked up an Asus 144hz monitor to it and I don't really notice a difference in the 244hz the laptop has verses what the monitor outputs. But games run like butter on it! No lag at all. I also use it for graphics in 3D, and Adobe applications as well. The internal SSD is truly a game changer. I will never go back to HDD. I doubled the RAM as well. This is a little lightning bolt. I also really love the metal body, it's sleek, and light as well.

At the time of purchase (May 2022), it was a decent deal. I'd suggest looking elsewhere at this point as time & tech will lower the potential deal. But it's been a solid laptop for my uses. Particularly:
Pros:
- Easy setup
- Nice backlight options
- 240hz refresh rate is on the higher end, and you notice it even with mouse movement
- Doesn't have a problem delivering based on specs
-Impressive sound quality. Laptop speakers are notoriously bad, but these are pretty good.
Cons:
- Runs hot and loud constantly. The reason I'd look at other laptops if I had to buy another. Makes sense for gaming, but having 1 internet browser window open triggers all kinds of noise and heat.
- Unreliable battery length. You don't need to be playing games or have much of anything going on in the background for this to quickly lose charge. Unreliable as a work device if you need more than 2 hours charge unplugged.
