This monitor is amazing, the switch from my old monitor which was 1080p 60hz, to this 1440p 300hz beast is very very noticeable. The interactive menu is good as well. Overall great monitor in my opinion.

Shipped in what can only be called classic MSI packaging, inside you will find the display panel, arm, base, power cord, HDMI cable and 4x screws and some literature. Unboxing is a regression as it is cumbersome to unbox with zero easy bar attachment system unlike some displays that slide right out and present the rear of the unit to you stabilized to mount the arm/base assembly. Another drawback is most modern displays have you simply snap the backplate into place and you're good to go but this one harkens back to the age of having to manually screw down the backplate with four Phillips screws. With that being said, assembly was straight forward. Another mild irritant is for some reason display makers will sometimes make the HDMI/DP ports too close to the back of the display for vertical insertion. You might as well install the HDMI cable first before standing the unit up because unless you insert it as straight as possible, it is a problem to insert. Powering on you get a nice MSI splash screen and off we go. Control is via a small push knob situated towards the right hand side. I tested the display with my MacBook Pro 16 M4 Max and hooking it up to the HDMI port it fired right up. I set it as my primary display for testing. MacOS detected it properly and set it to 300hz so full MacOS support is there. Color wise, it is a slightly above average panel in a good way. Colors are balanced decently and it is sufficiently bright. It does support HDR which I enabled in MacOS and both HDR on or off provided a decent picture. The colors aren't anywhere near on the level of my internal MacBook Pro 16 M4 Max display but good enough. I gamed in World of Warcraft for a few hours and ran 3Dmark's new Mac port and everything was smooth and as fluid as expected especially compared to the 60hz panel I usually use with my MacBook. Frame rates were above 150fps and above 200fps in delves and everything was silky smooth. The display itself has a very high level of adjustability. Up, down, tilt side to side and forward and backwards. The display mounting is solid enough that keyboard use and movement did not have the display moving or jiggling like some lesser gaming displays I've tested. This is what I would call a "gamers first everything else second" display in that you get a QHD panel with a very nice refresh rate of 300hz, IPS, good angles and excellent response time for a decent price. There's nothing else fancy or of note to this display except it is definitely for high refresh, fast response time gaming and for that it shines along with above average picture quality. If you are looking for a good QHD gamer focused 27" display at a solid price, this is definitely a solid choice.

The MSI MAG is a 27 inch WQHD monitor with 300 hz refresh rate and rapid response time. It’s definitely geared for competitive gamers, or at least those that care about performance. IN THE BOX You’ll get the monitor, the stand, HDMI cable, and power cable. Installing the monitor to the stand was relatively simple, but it does require a Phillips screwdriver (no such tool inside the box). SPECS You have one DisplayPort and 2 HDMI and a headphone out for your inputs. The HDMI ports are 2.1 so they handle increased bandwidth. This allows for HDR and higher resolutions and higher refresh rates. In short, HDMI 2.1 gets you many of the same features that DisplayPort provides. This is beneficial to me at least, because I game on a laptop that has an HDMI port. As is obvious, the screen size is 27 inches, and the resolution is 2560X1440. This is a slight step up from your typical HD resolution and strikes a nice balance between HD and 4K. It takes a serious machine to output in 4K at high resolutions, and the WQHD panel generates a little sharper visuals than HD while allowing more modest machines to push higher textures at higher refresh rates. Although obviously your mileage will vary depending on your machine, I’m only speaking in the most general sense. The panel is IPS, and it offers G-Sync and FreeSync (Nvidia and AMD’s variable refresh rate technology to minimize screen tearing). The screen is flat and the brightness gets up to 400 nits. It has standard VESA mounting 100 x 100 mm for those that want to attach it to a different arm/mount. The built in stand has some adjustability which is a really nice feature. The height goes up and down, it has a slight tilt and swivels to the side. The adjustments are easy to make as it slides easily without the use of loosening/tightening any bolts/screws. DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY The design is very pedestrian, which is neither good nor bad. It’s a simple black. The bezels are pretty thick and I wish it had a more sleek look. The stand itself is rather large and imposing and takes up a lot of space. I didn’t feel any creaks or flexing when moving or adjusting it, so I was pretty impressed with the build quality. It’s very sturdy. The navigation via the joystick is a little bit cumbersome, at least not intuitive to me at first. But this is a small quirk. You hold the joystick in to turn it on and off, and I’m used to a different pattern with my LG monitor. The menus are fairly complex yet intuitive to navigate (once you figure out how to navigate with the joystick, point is, finding the settings you want is easy as the UI is approachable). PERFORMANCE I found the picture quality to be very sharp. While I didn’t perform any color calibration, I found the colors to be vivid for general desktop use, and it looked great while playing Cyberpunk. The panel has a wide color gamut and I thought the colors popped. There’s a little bit of backlight as it is an IPS panel (and not OLED) it was nothing that really stood out. I thought ti has pretty good contrast. The brightness was plenty good for a bright room, although some darker scenes in Cyberpunk were a little washed out - but again, I was playing in the middle of the day in a bright room. At night, it looked great. While I’m generally playing directly in front of the monitor, the viewing angles were superb. The HDR performance was basic, but it definitely helped make the colors pop, especially when watching content. While I couldn’t quite get my machine to push 300Hz with my laptop, I got to about 200 (I might have gotten it higher but I didn’t want to completely sacrifice image quality). I found gameplay to be super smooth and silky. The high response rate was also on full display as I had little to no ghosting or blur when moving frantically in action sequences in Cyberpunk. There are additional features such as MSI’s “Smart Crosshair” where you can put an aimdot on your screen. I didn’t like this feature, mostly because I don’t play competitively for a living, but I can certainly see that as a benefit to some. You are essentially able to go into the monitor’s settings and put a crosshair in the middle of your screen. CONCLUSION I really like the high refresh rate and the fast response time. The screen is really crisp and I like the full ergonomic stand that you’re able to easily adjust. This is a monitor for those gaming professionals or those that want the best, but you will want to make sure you have a reasonably specced PC to take full advantage of the features. I could have used a smaller base for the stand and I wish it had a USB hub, but those are only small quirks. If you aren’t gaming, this monitor is probably overkill for casual gamers or those focused primarily on office work. But it is reasonably priced for what you get, and can serve as a nice upgrade with anyone still using an HD monitor.

I’ve had a few 27in gaming screens in the past but this MSI MAG is pretty solid, given the price point. TL;DR to help with some answers, details follow … GOOD: Color Clarity Weight Refresh Rate No bulky power brick BAD: Nothing stood out as bad or problematic MEH: Joystick Monitor Menu Control Man, when I opened this out of the box, the protective film around it made me think that the bezel was an inch all around and I was a bit nervous. However, after taking the film off, the sleek near bezel-less frame quickly made me smile. In this scenario, I was replacing an older 22in 60Hz screen and wow is it a huge upgrade! A monitor arm that effortlessly held my 22in, was a 1 for 1 swap with this MSI screen and even the screws transferred over without issue. The super light weight of the display had me expecting a big power brick, but no - it was just the standard computer / monitor power cord. Given that, MSI must have done some serious engineering to keep it this lightweight with such a high refresh capability. Seeing that it was mounted on an arm before it was even powered up, I don’t have anything to say about the stand for the monitor itself, sorry! With a Windows 11 desktop running a RTX3060, there was nothing needed to get this screen going - totally plug and play and there wasn’t even a need to adjust the location of the screen in a multi-screen setup. I did see that there’s a joystick button in the rear as I was putting it on the mount, but only needed it to power the screen on so far. This gaming scenario was primarily Fortnite and Roblox and wow did it make a difference in the snappiness! All aspects of the game were enhanced and took a regular gaming experience up a few levels. I was super impressed with the colors and crispness were shown to me and I’m a bit sorry that I didn’t upgrade this screen sooner as it would have made the time even more enjoyable. Now the performance is fantastic. Historically on this setup, I’m used to a bit of blur on a mouse snap, but in this case the blur was gone. Right left, up to see where shots are coming from and quick pans brought about a whole new experience. Side note, I even found a setting to keep blur in the game and was like — um, why would you want this if you have a great scree and refresh?! According to NVidia, I was able to push 160Hz from what I could see, when spot checking and from a max of 60Hz, this was a totally new experience. All in all, for a 27in screen, this thing packed color and crispness that I now wish I had years ago. Recommended!

When you’re a gamer, your monitor is one of the most important parts of your setup. After spending the past year researching what makes a gaming monitor truly stand out—like refresh rate, resolution, responsiveness, and image quality—I decided to try the MSI MAG 275QPF X30. This monitor offers a 2560 x 1440 resolution with a blistering 300Hz refresh rate, and it’s surprisingly budget-friendly for what you get. Setup Getting it set up was pretty easy. It comes with a stand that is in two pieces - the base and the spine. One thing that was unusual to me was that the monitor had to be screwed to the mount on the spine. One of the things I’ve seen from modern monitors is that the mount on the monitor usually slides onto or snaps onto the stand. This one screwed directly into the back of the monitor. The pattern on the monitor is a VESA pattern, but it was odd to me to find this type of mounting system on a modern monitor. Connectivity The monitor doesn’t require any special software. Just plug it into your device using DisplayPort or HDMI and you’re good to go. It comes with a DisplayPort cable, which I used for the best performance. Everything connected without issues, and it was up and running in seconds. Refresh Rate At it’s native resolution (2560 x 1440), I was able to get 300hz as a refresh rate from my MacBook Pro, which was the maximum refresh rate. Results might vary based on your Mac’s specs and cable setup, but it worked flawlessly for me. I was moving from a 60Hz monitor to this 300Hz beast and I noticed that regular movements like scrolling and cursor movements were much smoother. The device I game on the most is my Red Magic Nova tablet. I did connect it to this monitor, but unfortunately, it caps out a 144Hz. That said, I was able to achieve that 144Hz when playing Call of Duty: Mobile and the game ran super smoothly. Picture Clarity The image quality on this monitor is excellent. The IPS panel produces vibrant colors and maintains great clarity from different viewing angles. While my previous monitor was an ultrawide with the same 1440p vertical resolution, this MSI display has a more traditional 16:9 layout. I actually found that games and media felt more focused and less stretched, and the standard aspect ratio works better for everyday use and console gaming. Motion clarity was excellent even at high speeds, with little to no ghosting. Final Thoughts Overall, this monitor is a great value. It delivers sharp visuals, incredibly smooth motion, and solid build quality—all at a price that’s easy to justify. Whether you’re coming from 60Hz or just want a monitor that keeps up with fast-paced games, this one is definitely worth a look.

If you spend time in front of a screen, your monitor matters more than you might think. Things like refresh rate, resolution, response time, and picture quality led me to try the MSI MAG 275QPF X30. It has a 2560 by 1440 resolution and a very fast 300Hz refresh rate. For what it offers, the price is pretty reasonable. Setup Putting it together was simple enough. The stand comes in two parts: the base and the spine. What surprised me is that the monitor has to be screwed onto the mount on the spine. Usually, monitors slide or snap onto their stands, but this one uses screws at the back. It uses a standard VESA pattern, but the screw-on method felt a bit old-fashioned. Connectivity You don’t need any special software. Just plug it in using the DisplayPort or HDMI cable. It comes with a DisplayPort cable, which I used for the best performance. It connected easily and worked right away. Refresh rate At the native 2560 by 1440 resolution, it runs at 300Hz when connected properly. You need to set the refresh rate in your device settings, or it won’t reach the full speed. Moving from a lower refresh rate to this one made everyday tasks like scrolling feel much smoother. Picture quality The IPS panel delivers clear and vibrant colors. The image stays sharp even when you look from the side. I switched from a widescreen monitor to this standard 16:9 ratio, and I like how things look less stretched. Motion clarity is good with very little blur during fast movements. Final thoughts Overall, this monitor offers great value. It shows sharp images, runs smoothly, and feels well-built. If you want a monitor that keeps up with fast-paced use and looks good doing it, this one is worth considering.

The MSI - MAG 275QPF X30 27" QHD 300Hz 1ms gaming monitor is well suited for anything that demands a high refresh rate. The monitor when driven with the right combo of GPU and CPU in a gaming rig produces smooth gameplay. My Nvidia RTX 5080 was finally challenged by this display with a gaudy 300hz refresh rate. My gaming experience was superior with quick scene changes that would make my 60hz or 30hz monitors scream for mercy. No smearing or mushy transitions with this monitor from MSI. Even though the resolution is 2.5k (2560x1440), video playback is clear without any anomalies or artifacts. Playing back my HDR-10 4K 60fps drone footage from our recent trip to Turks and Caicos, revealed details I had not seen before such as birds flying just above the surface of water near Grace Bay Beach and Long Bay. Again, resolution isn’t everything when you have a high display rate monitor like this from MSI. This monitor left me wanting more resolution though. While the monitor also displays HDR video, I was less impressed than I usually am with a TV or monitor with HDR capabilities. I did not think colors or brightness popped as well as standard Rec.709 color space footage did. My OLED monitor, which struggles at times with brightness had a substantially better picture in HDR mode. The MSI - MAG 275QPF X30 monitor was easy to assemble and configure, with a sufficient stand with standard VESA mount pattern on the back so you can easily mount this panel on a multi-panel monitor stand. Although the screws which held the stand to the panel were cheap and a bit difficult to screw into the fittings on the panel, thumb screws would be a quality touch. Default monitor settings seemed fine, and setup was basically plug and play and I really liked the (on screen display) OSD and menu system. I did not use the supplied DisplayPort cable and instead connected this to my laptop via HDMI. Overall, I thought the MSI - MAG 275QPF X30 monitor was value priced for what you get, the refresh rate improved the video experience more than expected, especially with high frame rate gameplay and video playback. I believe I will check out MSI’s lineup of 4K monitors and see if they are a better match for combination of work and play use cases. Pros: - Incredible refresh rate - Value priced - Excellent OSD menu - Good fast IPS panel - Uniform display with no anomalies Cons: - Hardware mounting screws panel to mount were substandard, stripped easily. - HDR Performance could be better

Let's face it: 1440p is the new 1080p. And to have a monitor capable of doing this or better changes a lot in terms of visual quality. If you slap a 300Hz refresh rate, HDR and a response time of 1ms from gray to gray, you pretty much have a winner. MSI, a brand I trust (for the most part), has put out this monitor which is one of the best I have had in a long while. This new X30 27" monitor is aimed at serious gamers. Be it the very high max refresh rate, the response time or the vivid colors and the high brightness, its design and useful options, MSI has put a nice effort in this screen. The box contains the monitor, the stand and cables (DisplayPort and power). A small pamphlet accompanies the monitor which explains most functions and setup. That's it and that's actually enough. Assembling the monitor takes less than 10 minutes and everything feels very sturdy. I found the stand to be really nice, as you can flip the screen around effortlessly for different combinations (vertical or horizontal, up and down). In terms of connection options, you'll have the full monty: 2 x HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C. If you're going to use the HDMI interface, make certain that your cable is rated to support high refresh rates and is the latest HDMI version, as I had some trouble with an "older" cable which didn't allow me to push to 300Hz as the screen would go blank every so often. If you can, use the DisplayPort, it's much more adapted to high refresh rates (and the Gamer's Choice (TM)). I'm going to add that there is a 3.5mm audio jack just in case you were wondering. As a side note, this screen supports adaptative sync (check your advanced graphics settings in Windows). I ran a bunch of tests on this screen, looking to see how well lit it was, if the IPS LCD panel had consistent and even areas. I wasn't able to make out any major "clouding" (when it looks like the blacks are uneven and look like smoke). No dead pixels, no major quality issues. It's not an LED, QD-LED or OLED screen, but it does render quite remarkable images without screen tearing or washed out colors. Every game I ran (in 1440p) looked great (Dead Island 2, Doom the Dark Ages and others). Unlike a lot of people, I do believe that 4K is great, but in PC gaming, we're just not there yet unless you're willing to sacrifice a lot on quality (even with GPU's now offering frame generation). If you have an RTX 5080 and up or an AMD RX9700XT, sure, 4K is possible without losing much. But for the mid-range and lower-mid, 1440p is the way to go. And MSI took note of that and it was a wise choice not to chase after 4K or even 8K, yet. I'm going to fly over the menu which is pretty standard for a gaming monitor, including a FPS counter, a hardware cross hair and settings out the wazoo. It's easy to use (even if I really do not like the joystick button that most manufacturers use now). To close this review, I will admit that I wasn't expecting such a nice gaming monitor for such a reasonable price. The value this monitor offers could make some more expensive screen blush. Sure, it's not OLED, but it won't break the bank and it will work for you for quite a while. MSI, you've done it again.
