its been two month since I put the computer together, so far its been running strong with Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Perfect timing before the crazy inflation with ram prices.
The board came with a good amount of bells and whistles with more than I need. The quality of the board is good I would say. Also came with cables, stickers, and flash drive for the apps.
Only negative I have for it, is when I opened the box the primary M2 cover was not secure in the packaging due to having extra magnet piece and it was not locking properly luckily nothing is damaged while in it was shipped aside from a ripped thermal tape on the M2 cover. Also taking off the protective plastic on the board was annoying on dragon logo because it was pinched between pieces.

Great mobo! Msi has great products all around! I’ve been running the carbon for about a lil over a month and have zero issues! This was my first big build using most top of the line products and love it!

Bought this motherboard for my first msi mpg PC build. Was looking for newer version of msi ace max motherboard with glowing msi dragon. This modern x870e carbon delivers with great design/rgb and updated hardware.

This motherboard is great! The colors, the durability, and the feel itself is amazing. Running a AMD 9950x3D and MSI RTX 5090 with it and it's running flawlessly.

Tons of usb, nvme, and all ports. Straightforward install and great thermal performance. Only problem with it was pretty spendy, definitely a buy if on sale.

The MSI X870E Carbon WiFi has exceeded all my expectations and proven itself as a top-tier motherboard for high-performance builds. After extensive research, I chose this board for its blend of robust features, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional build quality—and I couldn’t be happier with the decision.
Favorite Features and User Experience
One of my favorite aspects is the inclusion of PCIe 5.0 support, which future-proofs my setup for the latest GPUs and SSDs. Pairing it with a Gen 5 NVMe drive has resulted in lightning-fast storage speeds that significantly improved my productivity and gaming load times. The integrated WiFi 7 is another standout feature. It provides incredibly fast and stable connectivity, eliminating the need for additional adapters and cables.
The design is another plus. The sleek black carbon fiber aesthetic, coupled with customizable RGB lighting, adds a touch of sophistication to my build. It complements my gaming setup beautifully.
Why I Chose This Product
I considered several high-end motherboards from ASUS and Gigabyte, but the MSI X870E Carbon WiFi stood out for its balance of performance and price. The well-rounded feature set, excellent thermal management, and MSI’s reputation for reliability ultimately sealed the deal.
Performance and Expectations
This motherboard fulfills all my needs and even goes beyond what I expected. The BIOS interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, making overclocking my CPU and RAM a breeze. The board’s robust VRM setup ensures stable performance, even under heavy loads.
The number of USB ports, including USB-C, is another big plus. I run multiple peripherals and external storage devices, and the connectivity options here are unmatched.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths:
• PCIe 5.0 and Gen 5 NVMe support.
• WiFi 7 for blazing-fast wireless connectivity.
• Excellent cooling solutions for VRMs and chipset.
• Stylish design with customizable RGB.
• Intuitive BIOS and robust overclocking capabilities.
Weaknesses:
• Slightly more expensive than some competitors, though the features justify the price.
• Limited bundled accessories compared to some premium alternatives.
Final Thoughts
The MSI X870E Carbon WiFi is a powerhouse that strikes the perfect balance between cutting-edge technology and reliable performance. Whether you’re a gamer, a content creator, or a tech enthusiast, this motherboard delivers everything you need for a next-generation PC build. While it comes at a premium, the investment is well worth it for anyone looking to maximize their system’s potential.

Got this on sale which makes this motherboard even better. Having 4 M.2 slots means being able to have tons of storage available which is awesome on top of 4 SATA6 ports. You'll never run out of storage with this board. Downside is only the 1st slot for M.2 is PCIe 5.0. The 2nd slot is technically as well, but you have to either select your 1st PCIe X-16 slot or your 2nd M.2 slot as PCIe 5.0 gen. Annoying both couldn't be, but not really an issue for me since both my M.2s are 4.0 and my RTX 4080 Super is also 4.0. Will make future upgrades potentially more difficult balancing everything out. ARGB on the board its self, covers the I/O and M.2 cover, looks really good and is a nice touch to the aesthetics of the board. There are also tons of USB ports to include thunderbolt display ports which is really nice if you are running an iGPU for secondary displays, leaving your main gaming displays to run independently on your Discrete GPU.
Overall the build quality and features of this motherboard make it well worth it!

I normally go with the A company but this had a better feature set for the quality. My first MSI board and I am very happy with it. It is very solid and has everything one needs for the next 5 years+.

It's a ready good and easy motherboard. Installes it with no issue and love the rgb on the gragon and carnon. I canot complain. I did not need all the m.2 slots but if you need it it has it.

Board is solid. Has enough ports for everything I need, although I do wish all boards went back to 6 SATA ports for non NVME drives. This board does have 4 NVME slots though so it works out. Paired it with a 9800X3D and so far so good.

This is a heavy duty board with every feature you could possibly ask for. Everything about it shows a high quality build and that is exactly what I wanted for my new build. This is truly a premium board and it shows.
BIOS is very easy to navigate and setting your ram is very simple using one of the many presets they have already set up for you. Just choose one and give it a shot. I set my ram at 6400 with cl32 timings just by selecting it from the drop down. I will try other speeds at some point
The automatic overclock feature works great with my 9800x3d. Just by enabling it I am at 5.025ghz with zero issues.
Updating the BIOS is a piece of cake with the included USB drive.
The board recognized everything from the initial boot and some MSI software was automatically installed. Very easy setup and it was done.
For the features you cannot beat this board at this price.

An otherwise great motherboard is ruined by a poorly designed M.2 SSD slot.
Instead of just using a screw, MSI decided to use an over-engineered knob that is very difficult to use. It takes way too much effort to secure an SSD into the M.2 slot.
What's worse is that removing the SSD is impossible. I've been trying to remove my SSD and I cannot get it out. The manual contains a link to a YouTube video that is full of comments saying the same things. Extremely frustrating.
If this motherboard just used a simple M.2 SSD slot with a screw this would be an awesome product. Unfortunately, this problem makes inserting and removing SSDs a nightmare. I can't recommend this motherboard.
