Overview: The 2020 version of Mulan is a live action movie that I wouldn’t quite call a remake of the 1998 release due to some key differences. The Good: Lets start out with the build quality of the SteelBook. Like always, Best Buy has knocked it out of the park with the case and artwork. The case is sturdy and feels like it’ll last for generations definitely a good display piece on your bookshelf or wherever you keep your movies. The artwork on the interior case foreshadows at the story, which shows a civilian version of Mulan juxtaposed against an armored warrior one on the right. The main thing you need to know about this movie is that it’s a much more serious retelling of the story than the animated one. There are no musical numbers in this movie and characters don’t randomly break out into songs. You will hear beautifully orchestrated versions of some of the melodies from the 1998 release, however, which is a welcome touch. Parents, be aware - the fights in this are graphic. Fa Mulan, who is well played by actress Liu Yifei, kicks some serious butt! The plot of the movie is roughly paralleled to the animated version, but is updated nicely for 2020. This is a great movie about how women can be just as powerful and competent as men, potentially even more so. The cinematography is captivating, and events move the story forward at a brisk pace. The Bad: You may not feel as invested in some of the side characters as you did in the original movie. The Other: Disney spent over $200 million dollars producing this movie. Wow! Recommended: Yes.

Finally received Mulan Bestbuy limited_version steelbook version is very beautiful. #liuyifei is a talent and beautiful actor. Disney best live action princess movie. Hope people all over the world can enjoy our asian culture.

Finally got around to watching this movie. Don't listen to the bad press. It was better than I thought it would be. The steelbook case is beautiful.

Beautiful cinematography. Nice story. Could of had better character development. The movie should of been longer. 4k 2160p at its finest. Definitely eye candy. Attractive steel book. A movie the whole family can watch together. Great message in the movie about truth.

I loved this movie. I have watched it over and over before but wanted this movie for myself. She keeps you on the edge of your see wondering what she was going to do next. She is a really great fighter.

I recently watched the live-action adaptation of Mulan (2020) on Blu-ray/DVD, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. This retelling of the beloved animated classic brings a fresh perspective to the story while honoring the essence of the original.

I really enjoy this movie, and what makes it more enjoyable is it has audio description for the visually impaired so the movie can be described to me!

Absolutely worth the wait. I admit was skeptical to watch. To start I would like to give some advice, if you purchase expecting to watch a remake of a cartoon like all the other Disney movies throw that expectancy out the window. This movie is was a remake for 30 plus year old children like me who grew up watching Disney movies. This was a Mulan and Mortal Kombat mix. I loved that they somewhat incorporated the music of the cartoon into the movie. If you missed it when you watched it, watch it again and pay attention. Last tip, when you watch it forget the cartoon and watch it as if you heard the Mulan story for the first time. It won’t disappoint. The story it self was different but great. I would also say that maybe little kids will not stay still and watch this. I feel like it was more for my inner child.

Decent adaptation compared to the animated version. Always good to see recognizable faces

first lets start off with the other live action remakes disney has done... people have disliked the way they turned out to be, i for one have enjoyed them, all of them. so they heard peoples criticism and decided to go a different route with this one, and people didnt like it either. no one even knows what they want. if you get this dont go thinking you're going to get the original mulan but in live action, this movie strays away from the original BIG time! i liked the way it turned out to be, you should give this one a chance. its worth the watch

It's not the original Mulan from Disney. But why the disk even though one has Disney+? Because the extra features. Let's start with the cast and crew interviews. Getting to really appreciate the details of building a Tang Dynasty Mulan in real life is much stronger than in the cell art that was illustrated in the 1990s. I also appreciated how articulate some of the actors from China were, I knew they were strong actors, but I had never heard an interview when they did other movies for American audiences. The cast and crew really did put in effort to connect the traditional story of Mulan from Chinese literature and the Disney Mulan animation. There are small features to be enjoyed. Another part of buying the disk: I still get Disney Movie Insider points. I know I was hesitant about this movie from issues around the actor who played Mulan, the lack of American flavored humor, but if you sit down and appreciate this Mulan story just as a single moment, you will see a much more culturally immersive experience.

Amazing movie! This remake of the 1990s Mulan is refreshingly bold, color, and exciting. From the opening minutes to the denouement, my family and I enjoyed every minute of this movie. This movie held our attention from the start and didn't let go. I was really hoping to see Mulan 2020 on the big screen, but I'm glad to say that it was so well done and engaging, that watching it from the comfort of home was just as rewarding. I can't say enough good things about this movie. This has been my favorite Disney remake to date.
