Get the director's cut!!!

I'm writing this review for two reasons. First, I want to promote Murder Set Pieces the director's cut, which I give five stars!!! Second, I want to discourage people from buying the 'R' version, which I gave two stars and do NOT recommend because of how cut up it was. This was one of the most expensive independent films ever made, somewhere around $2 million. This movie is amazing and deserves to be watched the way it was intended. If you've read any of my reviews, you know that I'm a hardcore movie collector, and there's one thing I despise, that is cut or censored movies!!! Why take a movie that's unrated in full length and intended for adults and cut it up and reduce the rating to 'R', which is for adults?! It doesn't make sense and I'll never understand! Never buy a cut movie! You're only cheating yourself. ALWAYS buy the full length, unrated, director's cuts of films. I highly recommend the full length version of this film, which unfortunately is not available through Best Buy. I do NOT recommend this version of the film!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This is not the 'true' version of the film. It is a heavily (and when I say heavily, I mean HEAVILY) edited version of the film. So much is removed it's really almost an entirely different film. If you have any interest in this film, then you won't buy this version. Every single piece of gore and violence is removed, if it wasn't for all the nudity, this edited version could easily pass for a pg-13 rating. Since so much is edited, it jumps around randomly and the plot becomes even more non-sensical...
avoid this version at all costs.
Shame on you lionsgate for trying to pass this off as the "most controversial film of all time"

Not the Movie for Everyone

Murder Set Pieces is now labled as the most notorious horror movie of all time within the hardened horror community, it superseeds the masagenistic violence and gore that was seen in other movies like Maniac or Texas Chainsaw. On the other hand it is worth seening and i strongly recommend it only to THOSE WHO SEEK MOVIE GORE and not a normal horror fan or average movie goer. After watching the movie and listening to the commentary I realized that there was another version of the movie, i.e. the real Theatrical release of the movie rather then the one sold at Best Buy which has been toned down for the average horror fan, ironically there are scenes in the bestbuy version that are unqiue to it therefore for any collector it is still a must have. At the very least the movie is worth seeing due to the fact that it is reminicent of the 70s midnight grindhouse horror shows. Thanks for reading the review!
