    Great for kids

I have not given it to my grandchildren yet but from what I can see they will love it. They play on my iPad now so this will not be much different. I was able to download a few of the apps they like but so many are already included which was great. I also like at I can disable apps my younger grandson is not ready to use yet. I like that the product is very durable. I don't like that if my grandchildren were in the same household I would have to pay extra to get different color bumpers to tell them apart. I also did not like that the instructions to add apps and to get the product to do other things are online and hard to follow. I brought in into work so my coworker who recommended and has one could show me a few things.

Best Tablet for Kids - No Question

    Posted .

I bought this to replace my 2-and-a-half year old daughter's Leap Pad (which had been a disappointment). Here are my top reasons why the Nabi Jr is better than the Leap Pad (in no particular order): 1. Numerous higher quality aps for the target age group 2. Superior screen resolution 3. comes with built in WiFi and Bluetooth for no additional cost 4. comes with rechargeable battery for no additional cost 5. Lots of free aps! - really, for my 2.5 year old, the free aps the Nabi Jr came with are likely to be enough to last her at least a year or two 6. Lots of good lower cost aps ($1 to $5 each) 7. Faster processor 8. Secure "mommy/daddy" mode lets you use it too (for your own email, web browsing, etc) Just so that I don't sound like I'm selling these things, I'll include a few weaknesses: 1. volume doesn't get very loud 2. although it has a slot for a stylist, it doesn't come with a stylist. Instead, the slot contains a "fake" stylist with a sticker on it, telling you not to use it as a stylist. (I do think that's kinda lame) 3. accessories (other than aps) are limited and pricey

    Great, but for older kids

    Posted .

I purchased two of these Nabi Jrs for my twin 22 month old toddlers to play with. I thought it would be a great way for them to begin learning things like the alphabet and numbers, while simultaneously saving my wife's and my own phones from the "joys" of toddler hands. The Nabi Jr is a great little toy and it will be even better for slightly older kids, but for ones as young as mine it is 100% ineffective. To start, the scrolling feature, coupled with the amount of pressure needed to activate the touch screen, is nearly impossible for a toddler to do correctly over and over. She'll see it move and want to do it again, but the second time she'll push too hard or too soft and it won't work which makes her frustrated. Even more frustrating is that once you have loaded one of the apps for the child to play with, there are large Blue Home and Green Power buttons on the front of the device that beg to be pressed. When the child is in the middle of an app, and one of these buttons gets pressed, then the app closes and the device either goes back to the home screen or powers to standby mode. What the device needs is a lock so parents can make those buttons stop working while the child is playing/learning. Overall as my girls get older, I hope they'll get more enjoyment out of these toys. Until then they are stored away to keep from starting yet another painful frustration fest.

PERFECT FIRST TABLET FOR YOUNG MINDS

    Posted .

I bought the nabi jr for my niece, who was 2 at the time. She has been using it for almost a year and she loves it! Her father is a basketball coach, so she spends a lot of time in the bleachers at the gym. DURABLE This product is very well made and very durable. It is made of the highest quality materials. The bumper protects it from drops, which is bound to happen when any child uses a tablet. EASY TO USE Toddlers these days are introduced to technology at a very young age. The nabi jr will help keep wee-ones off of your expensive tablets or phones. With some inital guidance, navigating the nabi jr is intuitive for young minds. EDUCATIONAL This has helped my niece leran her letters, numbers, and shapes. She loves playing the puzzle games. Her mother loves that she can add and remove apps that reflect her daughter's interest. ENTERTAINING The music, books, games, videos and apps that come preloaded are great. Even better though as I just mentioned, you can easily add new content to keep the nabi jr interesting to your child! I would not hesitate to suggest the nabi jr to anyone with toddlers.

    surprisingly impressed!

This children's tab is great! You can download from the kid friendly Nabi store or download the Amazon App store. It has a little less pixels but due to the smaller 5" size it evens out and looks good. The camera is only 2 mega pixels, but that's enough for a child. It has two plastic (disposable) covers you will need to remove to get the best picture quality. All the apps downloaded quickly, although it does depend on your wi-fi service. Wings and the stylus does not work for now, but will be available soon. Most important note... It is very parental controlled unless you add amazon. You have to go into your amazon settings, not the nabi settings, and disable in-app purchases. I would definitely recommend it! Side bonus, in the password protected parent mode it turns into a real tablet with browsers and whatever else you would like to download.

    Great for Kids

Overall a great tablet for kids. My 3 year old loves it, camera, music, games, etc. he loves it all. Great when driving on a trip of 3 hours or less. So overall it is great. The only issues that I have are the battery life is shorter than expected, and you have to be careful when you are charging it that no one bumps it. The charging cord will come loose and it won't be charging when needed.

We bought 1 for my 3 yr old and 1 for my 5 yr old. Currently my 5 yr old plays with it the most. She loves to play the games and watch movies. We were able to install amazon appstore and put Netflix on the tablet. She can sit there for the longest time and play the educational games.

All the features of an android perfect for a lil 1

OK, so i now have 3 nabi tabs in my house. 2 of the regular nabi's for my 7 and 8 year olds and this for my 3 year old. He loves it. Oddly it plays some games that the step up version wont! Now, the apps included are good...but install the amazon app store and get TONS of free games and apps! Oddly its lacking a stylus...it comes with a stylus place holder. Its just a all plastic version...prolly cost them about $0.10 less then the actual stylus they will try and sell you later for who knows how much. But, that is my only complaint. Otherwise, perfect for the lil ones!

Great way to introduce little ones to technology

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to introduce their little ones to tablet/smartphone technology. Lots of great educational software on it and it's really durable and easy for toddler to use. Only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars is the short battery life. The screen resolution isn't that great either but that doesn't matter too much because little kids really aren't going to care. If not going all out on the screen keeps the cost down then I'm all for it.

    Great first tablet

    Posted .

We gave the nabi jr. to my son around his birthday when it first came out. He has since played with it every day. He is younger than the recommended age for this tablet but I let him play on it with my supervision. He is only 19 months old now but has learned to count to 10. Some of his alphabet, he loves to play the Classical music and has learned several new words because of this tablet. I love working with him and helping him to the puzzles. He amazes me at how easily he took to this device. I love watching him take pictures and he has even recorded a few cute videos. This tablet is just the right size for him to hold. Now he doesn't want to take his older siblings nabi 2s. :) I really wish this would have been available when my older children were younger. This is an awesome educational tool for little ones and makes a great gift.

I love that is easy for my grandson who has learning disabilities to navigate it without any problem. I love the easy access I have to download apps for him and to keep track of his progress on learning. I love this Tablet for him. He hasn't put it down. And he loves to watch his cartoons on there.

    Great tablet for toddler

I bought this tablet for my two year old because he was so good at working my Kindle. He loves it. It is so easy for him to use, I love the fact that is has mommy mode, where I can go in and change the games and do stuff online. I don't have to worry about him accidentally getting online and buying something. He loves the camera feature. The bumper around the tablet has been handy, he has dropped it a couple of times and it has not hurt it. I only have two complaints about the Nabi: 1) the battery life is not very long, maybe four hours? and 2) it does not come with a stylus pen. Other than that, I have no complaints, the Nabi was definitely a great buy for the price.

    Disappointment

    Posted .

After comparing children's tablet devices I settled on the NABI and REALLY wanted to like it. I liked the idea that it had WIFI and was capable of downloading apps such as Angry Birds (I was really hoping to get back my phone). There are some great apps built in to the NABI which is great. However I found it very difficult to put new apps on to the NABI perhaps it had to due with having a Mac. What was not hard was for my toddler to make in app purchases on the NABI and there is no way to disable this feature. The personal home screen was also very counter intuitive. Where he uses my iPad with ease he struggled (as did I). To figure out the NABI. After a period of time I was not able to get any of the new apps to show up on the kid portion of the screen after being downloaded. I think for kids under 6 stick with something that has been around for awhile and developed software and games geared towards young kids. Leap Pad. If you have an older kid maybe choke up the extra money and get something like an iPad mini.

My 5 year old has the nabi 2 so I purchased the the nabi jr for my daughter's 4th birthday. She loved his nabi 2 so this is the perfect fit for her. We had the Innotab 2 but it did not keep her interest. The graphics and apps are more realistic. We love nabi!

    Great tablet for toddlers

My 2 year old daughter loves her tablet. It has great learning apps but one of the reasons I bought it was because my daughter loves Nick jr. I was told this feature was available. Then I come to find out by a nabi rep that this is not available yet and they still dont have a launch date for the software update. That was a little disappointing but my daughter still enjoys it and thats what really counts.

My 2 year old loves it!

We could not keep my daughter away from the iPad and my iPhone. After she completely wiped my phone for the second time (10 wrong passcodes), we decided she needed her own. She loves it. She is learning letters, numbers, colors, shapes, animals, etc. More importantly to me, she is learning how to use the "touch pad" technology. She taps, wipes, ... more every time she uses it. She also finds it wonderfully entertaining. We limit her to a couple times a week (since we usually let her play for hours) so that she is still active, but when she has it she harly ever sets it down. The only downside we have found is that music is very easy to turn on and will stay on if she leaves that app. Also, the volume button on the side sits to where she always maxes it out. I need to see if there is a master vlolume in the stttings.

bought this for my 2 year old, some of its features are a little advanced for him but he's learning. Some apps are even geared towards his age. Battery life is sufficient, we usually use it for when we go out and I need to keep him busy.
