    Buyer Beware!!!!!

Be warned about this tablet!!!!!!!!!! 11/27/2013 if you buy one of these and get a good one, YOU ARE LUCKY! But be warned!!! WE bought 2 of these tablets for our kids last xmas and they worked fine up until recently. My son put the tablet down on the table and the screen CRACKED. it's now $60 for you to get a refurbished one back. THEY DO NOT FIX IT, YOU LOSE EVERYTHING YOUR KID AS DONE UP UNTIL THIS POINT. Now there are #'s to contact Nabi 1855asknabi and 18775415906 (LA tier 3 support) but they want you to use Facebook to contact them ??? really? when is Facebook a tech support portal?? So we paid the $60, paid for shipping to send it out and a week later we get a refurb back. Once I got the tablet started, there were keyboard sensitivity issues, so I called support, while talking to support and touching keys on the keyboard the screen broke again. Then I get told I have to pay another $60 to get this one replaced. I JUST GOT IT back!! Look I am an IT professional and deal with computers, networks, server, and tablets. I know things break, but really this product is NOT worth the money. BUY SOMETHING ELSE. Now to be honest, I did get ahold of and LA rep tier 3 and she was helpful and we got the tablet replace for free, but I was told this was special case. yea right. If your charger stops working you can easily get a replacement, just go to their website and request one. It does work well, just be careful with it! it will break easily unlike their statements that it's "not easily broken". there are many tablets out there for a better price and quality. They really sure use Gorilla glass, but i'm told that would raise the price of the product. Well lets see, Black Friday and such they can offer it for $99-$129 but it costs $179 normally. Think about it, really? Gorilla Glass would save them a lot of complaints and fix a lot of issues for an inexpensive amount!

    Very disappointing

I’m very disappointed with the NABI 2 and NABI’s customer service. I bought two for my kids this past Christmas from Best Buy. I was instructed to contact NABI directly should any problems arise. When the tablets were working the kids loved them and the content that comes with will entertain and educate for hours. However there have been several problems with the hardware and software and NABI’s ability to deal with the issues. Right out of the box Christmas morning they needed to be registered and NABI’s website couldn’t handle the volume that day so I had to make several attempts to do so but I can understand that. I set my older child’s tablet up 1st. While registering my younger child’s tablet it appeared the possibility of someone purchasing more than one product had not occurred to NABI. It wouldn’t let me set the 2nd one up completely. They worked well for three or four days then the younger child’s NABI wouldn’t turn on without removing the red protective cover and pressing down long and hard on the power button. This improved somewhat after a software update but started acting up again within a day or two. When I asked NABI for help through their support site they said they would get back to me but they never did. The unit was able to turn on if I reset it w/ a paperclip but eventually even this failed to turn it on and a “bubububububub” sound could be heard coming through the speaker. Now it won’t even indicate if it’s charging. No reply was received from NABI before the warranty expired. Now the older child’s tablet is exhibiting the same symptoms after 6 months of light usage. $400 down the drain!!! I bought my younger child an iPad Mini for his kinder garden graduation and it has worked flawlessly and he really loves it.

    DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

I RESEARCHED THIS PRODUCT FOR QUITE SOME TIME BEFORE BUYING IT YESTERDAY. I WAS SUPER EXCITED TO GET IT FOR MY 3 YEAR OLD SON. I HAD SEEN HIM INSTANTLY CATCH ON TO THE TOUCHSCREEN CONCEPT WHILE USING A DEMO iPAD SO I FIGURED THAT THIS WOULD BE PERFECT. HOLY HELL WAS I WRONG. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PRODUCT IS A JOKE. IF YOU LOOK AT THE NABI WEBSITE THEY SPECIFICALLY CALL OUT THE FACT THAT YOU WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ANYMORE ABOUT JITTERY, SHUTTERING SCROLLING, SLOW BROWSING OR UNRESPONSIVE TOUCH SCREENS. I HAD ALL OF THOSE PROBLEMS PLUS MORE. WHILE SCROLLING BETWEEN APP SCREENS, IT WOULD DROP FRAMES LIKE MAD AND GET BLACK VERTICAL LINES COMPARABLE TO A BAD CABLE CONNECTION. THE BROWSER WAS SUPER SLOW. THE TOUCHSCREEN IS A JOKE. MY SON HAS NO PROBLEMS USING OTHER TOUCHSCREENS ON OTHER PRODUCTS, BUT THIS NEARLY HAD HIM IN TEARS IT WAS SO BAD. HE WAS SO EXCITED TO USE IT THAT WHEN IT WOULDN'T RESPOND HE WOULD GET PRETTY UPSET. THIS WAS REALLY DEPRESSING BECAUSE I COULD SEE HOW MUCH HE LOVED IT, BUT IT JUST WOULDN'T RESPOND PROPERLY. I EVEN HAD TROUBLE GETTING IT TO RESPOND PROPERLY. THE TOUCHSCREENS ON THE CARD READERS AT SAFEWAY ARE BETTER THAN THIS. THE WORST PART ABOUT THE NABI WAS THE EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE THAT WAS ON IT. THE WHOLE REASON I BOUGHT THE THING WAS FOR THE LEARNING PROGRAMS THAT THEY TOUTED ON THEIR WEBSITE. THE THING THAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU ANYWHERE ON THE SITE IS THAT ALL OF THE EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE IS ONLY FUNCTIONAL FOR A 30 DAY TRIAL. AFTER THAT, THEY CAN CHOOSE TO CHARGE YOU. PEOPLE ON THE FACEBOOK PAGE SAY THAT IF KEEP IGNORING THE PROMPTS, THAT IT WON'T CHARGE YOU RIGHT AWAY. THEY HAVE IT IN PLACE SO THEY CAN START CHARGING YOU AT THEIR DISCRETION AT AN UNDETERMINED POINT IN THE FUTURE. THAT BRINGS ME TO THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE. I POSTED A COMMENT VERY SIMILAR TO THIS ONE EXPLAINING ALL OF THE ISSUES I WAS HAVING AND WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT IT WAS. I CHECKED LATER TO SEE IF THEY HAD GOTTEN BACK TO ME ABOUT IT AND THEY HAD DELETED MY POST! THERE WAS NOTHING INAPPROPRIATE OR FALSIFIED IN MY POST, PURELY FACTS AND A WARNING TO OTHER CONSUMERS AND THEY DELETED IT. I THEN POSTED AGAIN ASKING THEM WHY THEY CHOSE TO DELETE MY POST CITING THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE THE GOOD AND THE BAD IN ORDER TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION. THEY DELETED THAT ONE TOO! THEY THEN BLOCKED ME FROM MAKING ANY FURTHER COMMENTS ON THEIR PAGE. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU RUN A BUSINESS WHICH IS WHY I CAME HERE TO WARN POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. STAY AWAY FROM THE NABI...IT'S BAD, MKAY.

Really wantRed to love this tablet

I really did want to love this tablet. I got an IPad about two months ago. Since I brought it into the house everyone is fighting to use it. My youngest had a birthday coming up so I thought what a great way to solve part of this problem. He was turning 7. I researched the Nabi 2 tablet and it sounded perfect for him. I loved the parental controls that were mentioned in all the reviews. He got his last weekend and right out of the box we had trouble with it. It took forever to charge and was not as user friendly as everyone describes. He was happy with it for the first day and then I found him continuing to try to use the IPad instead of the Nabi. I figured it was because of the games that we had installed on the IPad. One afternoon I spent a few hours downloading the Amazon store and some the free games. After I downloaded the games he used the Nabi a little more, but would still ask to use the IPad. The next day I received an email receipt from Amazon for a purchase of what was a free game the day before. I thought it was strange but it was only $2, so I figured I maybe left the Nabi in Mommy mode and it was my error. I checked the Nabi and made sure it was in Nabi mode before letting him play on it. Two days later I got another reciept from Amazon this time for a $20 charge for 2000 crystals from Amazon app store. After doing some research it traced back to the free donut game I downloading for him. I immediately took the Nabi and would not let him play it anymore. I looked at the game and it tells you that you need so many crystals to do something so he pushed buy 2000 crystals. Nowhere did it tell you what it costs or asked you for a password. I was able to click on it not being in Mommy mode and make the purchase. Scary. Having had the IPad for over two months I know the I pad at least asks you for a password (which my kids do not know). I have had no trouble being charged for things on the I pad. Needless to say the Nabi is going back. Thank you Amazon for having a great return policy.

If you can get a Nabi that works, congratulations, you will probably like it and will probably be one of the people that gives it a great review, well at first, that's until you have problems with it and have to deal with their customer service or should I say Facebook Page. Yes, this is how Nabi does customer service - the worst marketing move I've ever seen. I seriously want to write a case study on how not to do customer retention based on Fuhu's mind boggling business strategy. However, as you can see from the reviews many of get Nabis that don't work or only do for a short period. I should have returned mine day 1 to Best Buy, but it was Xmas time and who wants to return their toddlers gift after they've already gotten attached to it. From day 1 it was impossible to turn on and later it started to consistently freeze and go nutty and got worse after every dutiful update I did to "correct the problem". It was frustrating enough for myself as an adult, but can you imagine the toddler meltdowns that were involved? Even if you have already purchased a Nabi that has been working just fine, I promise you your charger will stop working. Look at the Facebook comments and that seems to be one of the big current themes. Supposedly they just started to re-manufacture them, but... to get a new one you will need to deal with their customer service as they aren't available in the store....oh and did I mention their customer service doesn't exist?

    Short-lived usability

This product is usable **ONLY** if you never want to add anything to it. The uninstallable built-in apps fill up a LOT of the storage of this device, *especially* if you've gotten the update that adds the enitre bloatware of the Google Apps universe. And due to their disabling of moving apps to the microSD slot, you will find the device will extremely quickly fills up the internal memory. You will find you can't even run an UPDATE on it because Fuhu couldn't figure out how to use the microSD, so if an app likes to store a lot of data files, the device will become unusable within one month. You will end up telling your child he/she can't have their favourite app because the Nabi2 is quite simply incapable of holding it. You'll end up installing it on your own tablet, so you might as well have saved the 200 bucks by NOT buying a Nabi2 in the first place. In addition, in a time where everyone *else* is going to standardized miniUSB and microUSB for power, teh Nabi2 still uses an oddball, proprietary power connector. Not only that, but the power connector is SO tiny it will probably be broken and destroyed within a few months, Hopefully it hasn't done that by shearing off inside the device. It also doesn't have a rear-facing camera, but that would be excusable if the device weren't so severly hamstrung by boneheaded engineering decisions.

Avoid - Doesn't Support Google Play

    Posted
    Anonymous

I purchased this for my daughter who is 3 years old. She is an avid iPad user and navigate it like a pro. I bought the Nabi after seeing it in a store and like the bright red bumper around the tablet. After going thru the initial setup I searched around for Google Play to download some apps for my daughter and to my surprise it wasn't there , I logged into the mommy/daddy mode thinking they may have just removed it form the restricted son/daughter side. But it still wasn't there. How could this be on a Google created OS like Android? Why would a company restrict a device with such promise as this one? I decided to look online a bit, most of the reviews I read loved this little tablet. I didn't see one person complaining that they couldn't access Google Play, nor did the sales person make me aware of this. So I called for my free tech support and was shocked when I had to leave a message on what sounded like my old cassette answering machine, so instead of leaving a message I figured I would call back later. Later came and decided to call again, same thing, they wanted me to leave a message and really didn't tell when they would call back. Would it be in an hour, 12 hours , sometime this week. Gimme a break, its like waiting on the Cable company. So after a few more tries over 2 days, I decided to email them and a nice person explained to me that Google Play was not supported on the Nabi and I could install Amazon's App Store with some instructions on the internet. At that point I deiced to return it for a full refund. I believe if they were to add Google Play I would go back and buy another one, but why purchase something so restricted when there are so many devices that can do the same thing.

Do NOT buy a Nabi! Don't do it! You will lose your money! I bought one from Best Buy (who is no longer selling them!!!) for my daughter at Christmas. The charger stopped working. Best Buy allowed for an exchange at the end of April. I delayed in doing the software upgrades because it is a huge pain (you have to do two right away to be able to access google). So my daughter only started using it in the middle of May. Then we lost it for about 4 weeks. Basically, it had only been charged once and only had 4-10 hours of use and the screens started locking up. It got really hot. You would turn it off and wait- and it would do it again. We went to charge it and the charger broke into the port. I tried taking it back to Best Buy, so I could exchange it for something OTHER than a Nabi. They wouldn't accept. It was outside their return and exchange period, and they no longer sell them (Sarcastic-I wonder why:|) I called Nabi to get a refund. They won't give you one. They will only send out another horrible product! Who wants another one? You spend a really long time doing upgrades on the software-only to have it break in a few weeks to a few months!! In the end, you are buying a Horrible product! You will lose you're money! You will have headaches and frustration. DON'T BUY IT!!!

This produce is supposedly great. Just don't expect it to work right out of the box. I was stupid enough not to take a look at this item till Christmas eve, trusting the positive reviews. I opened it, watched the video that you are prompted to start with, and then...nothing. Product does nothing else. No options to do anything else. AND, no product manual. Apparently that is available only online. Of course the helpline phone number is not available on Christmas eve, which I wouldn't fault them for if they included some documentation in w/ the Nabi how to work it. I am pretty tech-savvy, and it only has 3 hardwired buttons (volume up/down & power) and 2 onscreen options, so not much to try out and it does nothing but play a video welcoming you to the world of Nabi, apparenlty the full function of a Nabi being watching this video. I may get this to work, but if so, it will likely be after Christmas, so my child won't have it for that special day. I would recommend going w/ a Nexus or better known brand and not getting sucked in like I did by a lower price point and the favorable reviews. I am wondering now if this is one of those cases where the company pays people to post positive reviews, b/c this thing is an expensive waste of money so far, and will be going back to Best Buy.

We opened this tablet christmas eve to set it up for our child. After 10 mins of confusion i finally figured it out. After the tablet rebooted and i tried to log into the mommy mode it wouldn't accept my password. Nabi tech support was ZERO help, i had to recreate a user to get it to work. Then the real issues started, the tablet won't charge and Nabi told me I have to have another one sent out, the tablet locks up everytime I turn it on, and when it doesn't lock up, it shuts down randomly and won't start back up. Nabi's tech support line is only open during normal busniess hours so when i get home from work I have to rely on their facebook page to ask questions, which is a joke. You get one reply and they are done with support. Save your money and buy a ipad or kindle fire, be a parent instead of allowing this tablet to police what your kids can do. or buy a leap pad. I wouldn't recommend this tablet to my worst enemy.! Absolute garbage product, even worse company! Companies like this are whats wrong with this country, they turn out bad products, don't support it and think what they're doing is good!

I usually do not write reviews, but this time I'm furious! I purchased two Nabi 2s (one for each of my sons#. ON Christmas day, Nabi experienced technical difficulties and none of the products could connect to WIFI, which meant they were completely unusable. Then after 3 weeks of use, one completely DIED. It would not turn on...it wouldn't do anything! Therefore, I had to explain to a 5 year old child that his gift from Santa was now broken!!! I called Nabi, they said an email would be sent to me on what steps to take in order to return it to them. RETURN it to them?!?! Again, I had to explain to my child that I had to mail Santa his gift back! After 5 days, I still hadn't received the email instructing me on what to do. After 3 phone calls and two customer service reps later, I finally received it. This is what ticked me off, I had to purchase bubble wrap and a secure package to mail it in. Then I had to mail it and purchase a signature request #they reccommended buying insurance too, but I couldn't swing that). After spending $17 of my own money to mail it back, it has been sent off. WHO KNOWS WHEN I WILL RECEIVE THE NEW ONE. I'm so very dissappointed with this purchase! I should've spent the extra money and bought two ipad minis...big regrets!!!

We decided to pay a little extra over other options when purchasing this for our daughter, largely for the fact that it was geared towards children and seemed to be built with a higher level of durability than cheaper options. This has been used lightly and very carefully. We turned it off one day when it worked fine, did not use it for approximately one month, and the next time we turned it on, the screen was haywire. I sent a photo to nabi and was told that the lcd was bad, that was not covered by the warranty, and it would be a $75 repair. While geared towards childten I would also add that there are unremovable apps that Would require a paid subscription. After my research I also had recommended that my sister purchase as nabi 2 for their children, although software related, they to have had nothing but problems with the tablet. At the same time, I personally purchased an Asus tablet which has been used much more heavily, and have had absolutely no problems. Given this experience. I highly recommend against paying more for a Nabi over another option. Nabi is clearly not a situation where you get what you pay for.

Like many other purchased TWO for the kids (6 & 4) for Christmas and set them up on Christmas Eve.I had been doing a lot of research between the Nabi and the Nexus, and decided on Nabi because of good reviews & the great Black Friday price I got on BB web site. Set up was fine, once I got the hang of it, but after a day of barely any use one of the screens was flickering and wasn't as bright as the other one. It could have been that way out of the box, but I didn't really notice until I had them side by side. I emailed Nabi on Christmas night, and I got a call from a Tech out of LA. I couldn't believe it, on Dec 25 a tech is calling. Great I thought, awesome CS. He told me they were having Screen problems and he would send me out a new one and e-mail infor with a prepaid UPS label. He did, and four days later I received a new Nabi. Plug it in and The SCREEN WAS CRACKED. The screen problem was even worse than the one I originally purchased., E-mailed Nabi twice advised them that the replacement was bad and no responce. I'm done, and now even contemplating returning the good one that I have in fear that it will go bad. I'll take my $300 + dollars (two tablets) and get the Kindle or Nexus. It seems to be hit or miss if you get one that works.

I bought 2 of these ... 1 for each of my twin boys. Out of the first two I had one of them had an entire section of apps that would not work at all. Geek squad from Best Buy told me to take it and return it since I had only had this one a day. So I did just that. Within the first week I had one that would only hold a charge for about 2hrs and that one would not connect with my interenet. The second one had apps that just stopped working. I attempted to call the customer service hotline only to get directed to an answering system during work hrs. 4 days later I still did not get a call back. It was about 2-3 wks after I returned both and puchased a differant brand that they finally returned my call. Best Buy was great at helping me and my kids loved the games but the product and service on these are horrible.

We gave this to my stepdaughter for Christmas. From the moment we turned it on we experienced problems. It would type on its own, many times making it difficult to perform simple navigation. The screen was super sensitive and we ultimately had to take the red frame off as it hindered anything we were trying to do. There were many times that up to two apps would open without us doing anything. Music would start playing for no reason at all. Felt like it was possessed. We contacted customer service via their Facebook site (calling on the phone was useless with the horrible wait times). They replied very promptly the first time, requesting that we update the version. I did this and it helped some, but the tablet still acted possessed. My husband and I both tried contacting customer service again. This time we received no response. We ultimately return the tablet. In my opinion, this product either needs to be baked more or a ritual needs to be performed to remove the demons.

Well, I was able to get it set up well enough. That only took a few minutes to do. Tinkering around with other things to fine tune the set up and get it ready to go didn't take long either. Unfortunately, I did not run it for longer then an hour, which seems about the time it takes to die. Of course being an IT person, I take to the web to try to get answers. Over the air update? Why not if I can. Got it downloaded and ready to install; bam, dies again. Mind you, this thing has been fully charged to ensure happy times from the tykes their first go at it. It would start up and look good for a few minutes and then the screen would look scrambled, then gone. Had to restart it every time to get it to attempt to start up, but alas, nothing. Will try to get an exchanged unit from the store first, but definitively not good when it dies after the first hour of use.

I am a best buy employee and was very excited when I first saw the nabi. My 5 yr old son had been asking for a nintendo ds but I didnt see any educational value in tht purchase. In comes the nabi tablet. An educational, yet fun, device for kids. He loves the nabi at first. Then, just like half the reviews before mine, it starts not working. Screen goes crazy, wont charge, and makes crazy noises. No worries because I purchased the geek squad protection. I exchange the nabi for a new one. SAME PROBLEMS! What a joke. Now were stuck with this stupid half functioning tablet. Nabi is a joke. I talk every customer I can out of them and into a galaxy tab. Hope this review saves you some time and headaches. Take care.

I replaced 3 leap pad with 3 nabis and I regret it. The leap pads were great but they had been through the ringer with my kids so I decided it was time for an upgrade. I did some research and decided to go with the nabi. The first day I bought them I kept having problems with one not updating so I had to return it. That should've been a sign right there. I've had them for 6 months and they're glitching again. I even spent days on the phone with nabi support and I stumped them. They're answer was turn it off for an hour and it should resolve itself. That shouldn't be a problem because they always die anyways. The battery life it terrible and it takes a whole day for it to charge 100%. The problem did not resolve itself so I plan on returning them tomorrow. I'd rather spend a few more bucks and buy a mini iPad or the samsung tablet. Also not the easiest things to use. I guarantee you will have to google how to add apps to nabi mode.

I bought this nabi 2 for my son at 2bills in less than 2 months he has completed all the free programs, you cannot download programs anywhere except from nabi store which is on the operating system you cannot download apps from google or kindle or any other outlet even though it is an android operating system it constantly freezes even after a software update to fix that problem all the free apps they advertise are almost worthless my son plays with my kindlefire more and you can download so many more apps the bottom line is i love the chore list and you can't get it anywhere else, i love that it is almost industructable and my son loves the camera/video on it but other than that it is way overpriced and as usual marketing has hyped this product way too much... i would not recommend this product to anyone and if i could have found the chore list app for the kindle i would have taken it back to the store

My husband and I bought 2 Nabis for our sons who have autism. When we saw the advertisement for them before Christmas last year, we thought they would a perfect learning tool for our boys. When the kids opened their presents, and saw there new tablets, they were so excited. They played with them every day for months. However, after only 5 months one of the Nabis completely stopped working. It was fully charged, but would not turn on at all. We have emailed the company several times, and we still have not gotten a response. We are so disappointed in the company. Furthermore, since are son has autism he can't get passed the frustration that he can no longer use it. We are dealing with constant melt downs because of it. I really expected more from the company, and sincerely hope they respond to us soon.
