Nakamichi 9.2.4 is an excellent choice!

I purchased my Nakamichi 9.2.4 system about 2 months ago. It was very easy to set up (took about 30 minutes total or so). Sound quality is great overall. Crisp higs, balanced midrange and boomy but not muddy bass. What really sells this system are the two 10 inch subwoofers which make an incredible difference in how you feel sounds like explosions. I previously purchased a Nakamichi 7.1.4 system and ended up returning it because I wanted a two subwoofer setup. Not that the bass is lacking on the 7.1.4 (it is extremely powerful as well). With one subwoofer you can tell where the bass is coming from based on where you place the sub. In my house I had to place the sub to the left of my couch and you could tell the bass sounds were coming from my left hand side. Having two subs expands the range and distributes the low end to a point where you can't tell where the bass is coming from. That alone inmerses you more in the movie or videogame experience. Also, Dolby Atmos effects are great. Because of this soundbar system I have gotten to the task of starting a movie collection of the best Dolby Atmos movies I can find. Height and surround effects are clearly heard all around you, especially in movies with action packed scenes. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my Nakamichi soundbar. If you want a movie theather experience in your home this is the soundbar to get. PS: I also want to recommend one Dolby Atmos Blu-Ray concert which will convince you this system is worth the money: Hans Zimmer Live in Prague.

If you want your TV to be louder, sure, buy it. Otherwise, there are better products available for less. Buy it if money is no object and you want ridiculously over-modulated bass to make your TV louder. There are equally good soundbars for much less money if that is your goal. Do not buy it if you are expecting it to replace a true surround sound system, such as a quality receiver and speaker system. This is NOT an equal replacement for receiver and speakers by a long shot. But know that going into it and make an informed decision. Build quality is mediocre at best. I could see this system being a value at $799, but $1399 is a big ask for what you get. Mine was returned.

Well I would go into a long long review but honestly not going to waste time here. I’ve owned Samsung Klipshe and Bose systems and these both receiver based systems and sound bar systems have smoked this system in overall sound quality. Not even sure what the other reviewers backgrounds are in sound but these don’t even get a 3 star. While these had excellent the midrange and the Twitter ranges were muffled and on top of being muffled didn’t do so well on the satellite performance where those could barely be even heard. I’d suggest looking at a full range system if you are in the market for a new soundsystem.

I’ve had this for a few months and with every passing day, I hate it more and more! First off, the subs constantly crack and distort no matter the volume of the subs or system. I kept my ceiling mounted speakers hooked up, and this system isn’t compatible at all. They fade in and out, like someone is playing with the volume. And the BT! Don’t get me started. It takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R. To connect. Then, that too, will sit and fade and cut out. And the other day I was listening to music and the BT just decided it was done and shut off. I find I have to constantly manually power off the sound bar so I can change back and forth from HDMI to ARC. Then. The sound. <Barf>. I like to jam and turn my music up loud to clean house. I constantly play with the sound options and it doesn’t sound any better. And half the time you turn it up, it doesn’t get louder, it just cracks and gets more distorted. A serious waste of my money. I don’t even think it’s good for movies. And if I’m streaming, it cracks again and the bass just distorts. You’ve been warned! Don’t buy. For the money, I’m sure there are waaaay better options.

Honestly, for me it’s not the good one. I don’t want to give a single star. Midrange sucks !! It is not giving a good feel at all. It is loud but disturbing. Nakamichi might be okay for atmos. But a big NO for music listeners. I mean, highs and lows with no real balance. First, there isn’t any auto mode like Sony like other products. We have to keep on change the audio mode according to the video file. Being a technical guy, I feel bad for doing all that nonsense. This won’t be convenient for the people who resort to comfort when it comes to sound systems. The most important issue is the sync issue, all of a sudden sub stops working. And here, surround speakers are connected to subs. So the entire thing stops. Sync issues from bar to both subs. Another sync issue is mute. When you mute sometimes it works but all of the times the surround and sub don’t work for the mute. You know, without the bar sound, the subs and surround sounds terrible. So it’s another sync issue. I have to to reset again. When searching for Nakamichi words and sounds, the reviews were fantastic and I trusted the reviews and YouTube videos. I bought 9.2.4 for my home theatre setup. But let me tell you the fact, 7 years back I bought energy elite sound bar with a wireless sub for $600 at same Best Buy magnolia. Discontinued, but you can get it for $300 now. This soundbar still roars and it is far better than this Nakamichi. Trust me !! I am returning this and pre-ordered kilpsch 1200. Hope it won’t disappoint me and I never give up until I find the right one. I hope this review will help the music lovers who are interested in buying Nakamichi 9.2.4

The concept of this soundbar is nice, but the execution is terrible. Where do I begin... you will have problems with software of this soundbar no matter if it’s the old firmware or the atmos. The sound constantly cuts out, the video randomly does not work, I sat For almost a week trying to reach customer service and never was able to watch tv. There is no customer service- i received calls back to troubleshoot at 10PM. And nothing got done, just one sentence emails all the time. I gave them so many chances to make It right with me but they did not even bother. Looks wise the soundbar looks nice and the 3 subwoofers is a cool theory. The subwoofers produces no more bass than if you were using a single sub. It’s reallt NOT that impressive. I try To always be fair if I choose To write a review as i rarely do unless I love Something enough to take the time to write It. Don’t fall for the hype, the atmos software is not close to ready for release. The story they read you about almost done this and that is not true. They have a long way to go, and i mean LONG.

    Nakamichi 9.2.4!

So this is my first review of any product ever. Let me start by saying that if you are hesitant to buy this system because maybe you have never heard of this brand, or because of the price let me stop you right there; it really is worth every penny spent on it. The system I got came fully updated with Atmos and DTS:X so no need to go through trying to download the update like I did, it is ready to go already. I initially tried the Samsung Q90R to try out atmos and was less than impressed, and it was really glitchy. So after hours of research, (I never buy anything on a whim), I decided that because I am in an apartment I would try this rather than go full surround sound. This thing had a lot of positive reviews and I can confirm that they are justified. I will address the 2 main negative reviews and get those out of the way. The first one is that it came in not working. Mine came in working fine, the only glitch it had that was that my ATT modem was too close to one of the subs interfering with the signals, I simply put it on top of the sub and that fixed it right away and I have not had a single issue since. To be honest its not just Nakamichi, but every electronic product you can think of has some systems that come defective, no matter if its samsung, apple, or lg. it happens, so get over it, send it back and get a new one. The second criticism I read was that the bass was inadequate for this system and to that I call BS. Im not sure if some people have to give criticism in their reviews but the bass is overwhelming if nothing else. Now to the positive. Bass, "OMG" that's the only way to describe it. For an apartment its way too much, but there are so many adjustments and you can make to the bass and treble that can balance it out. But to say the bass isn't that great like some reviews say is just silly. Its almost like some people need something to complain about to make it sound like a "critical review," but pay no attention to those reviews, the bass is spectacular. Setup takes about an hour or so, but once its set up control is easy. I have an Apple TV 4k, PS4 Pro, and Sony X700 bluray player attached to it, and I have the sound bar plugged in using eArc to an LG Nano9 65 inch TV. I have 2 satellite speakers up by the TV and 2 near my couch which adds great surround sound effect. So far on apple tv i have watch John Wick, Interstellar (that scene with the ocean world is really intense), and Batman Begins. John Wick is done in Dolby Atmos, which sounds amazing and I have been hearing sounds I have never heard in surround sound. But even Interstellar and Batman Begins being in Dolby 5.1 sound great. The sound bar has amazing clarity, especially if your willing to take the time to adjust it to settings you will like. I listen to apple music a lot, heavy bass for hip hop, then take down to more of a clarity setting for 80s rock and it handles both really well. When I watch scrubs (my favorite show), it offers a ton clarity as well. In my personal opinion there is only two drawback and one is minor, the other is a good problem to have. The first is the satellite speakers can be a little lite on sound, which is okay because you will still know they are there, especially in atmos movies, but that is just not enough to take a star away. The second is of course the bass, its not that it is bad, its too good for an apartment so I have yet to fully experiment with it which sucks. So if your gonna get it for an apartment like me that may be a little bit of a let down unless you don't care about your neighbors lol. Overall this is a great system, the best on the market for "sound bars" if you can call it that. To be honest its really more of a home theater in a box than anything else. It pairs so nicely with the Apple TV 4k which offer by far the largest streaming library of Dolby Atmos/Vision Movies. The only reason I get a 4K bluray player is that I ordered the 4K special edition marvel movies that all now have atmos (which comes in next week!). But honestly everything else can be watch on Apple TV, which if your like me and you love movies than the combination is of the Nakamichi 9.2.4 and the Apple TV 4k should set you up for years to come. Don't hesitate to get this system, its well worth it I promise.

Best Home Theater System I Have Every Owned

This sound bar is incredible. My living room now sounds like a legit movie theater. This system was easy to setup and the dual subwoofer setup is a game changer. I spend more money on a Bose 700 system for my other living room before buying this one for my theater room living room. I wish I could return the Bose and get another one of these systems. The difference is night and day. The Nakamichi has the ability to upscale audio feeds such as YouTube TV which doesn't broadcast in 5.1 let alone Dolby Atmos. The Bose system can't do that. When using this with Disney Plus where almost all the titles are Dolby Atomos audio and 4k the experience is awesome. Watching a movie like Star Wars is just unreal. Can't be more happy with my purchase. Probably going to try to find a way to unload my Bose 700 system and get another one of these! This will make your entire house shake at even 1/3 volume and it's crystal clear with awesome base.

My overall experience with this system is not a good one. Sad but true. The quality of the system is not what I expected. I have always been a JBL fan and I took a leap of faith (considering the product amount) I was sure that this product would be the best fit! Sadly it was not. JBL had never let me down and I will continue to purchase their products going forward despite other reviews.
