i purchased this system sight unseen and unheard. could not demo this anywhere but let me tell you, as soon as i set it up and turned it on i was not disappointed and actually quite surprised, it was better than i expected. i was worried how it would sound not being able to do dolby atmos comparing it to a samsung atmos system i had. it handled it with excellence. nakamichi is a real winner

Bought this purely because of comparisons on YouTube. The 2 subs thump. Sound seems to come from everywhere. The remote is terrible but I think the next gen. has a better one. Nakamitchi back with a bang.

    Qualified Five Star Sound System

While I am rating this a five-star system, I do so with one qualification. Sound settings are discrete in increments of five; for example, if I am at sound level 30 and want to raise the volume just a bit I am forced to go to 35. This frequently means going from not quite loud enough to a bit too loud with no choices in-between. I have been told by a Nakamichi tech that the next firmware version will allow increments of 1, not 5. I hope so. Otherwise, the quality of sound produced by this system is very impressive (as it should be for the price). My first test was Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony (#3) on CD. The organ sounds like it is the real thing right in front of me and not like a recording of an organ (I think that having two sub-woofers helps make the difference). Because this system is flexible expect to spend some time figuring out what sounds best (e.g., TV vs. recordings) and where you position yourself to listen. My next test is opera. Is this system worth the price? It is to my seven decade plus years and definitely will be when volume increments are one not five.

      Hi Sam3rd,
In our new firmware, volume settings have been improved. The master volume level now makes increments of 2 instead of 5, which will allow you to make more precise volume adjustments. An important thing to note is that we have added even finer volume level increments at the most common range of volume levels people usually listen to (between 20 to 50 on previous firmware). To download the new firmware, please go to www.helpdesk.nakamichi-usa.com.com/firmware-upgrade-ultra92

      Thank you.

The nakamichi sound system is descent. Sound is good and bass sounds great in a small room. For the price, I still prefer the Bose sound bar and sub. Did not realize it was all wired. This is why I gave it a 4.

This system is great especially for the cost. Went to the store and listened to various "sound bar systems" and even the high end models don't reach the decibels that this system is capable. Then it also has 2 wireless subwoofers which hit really deep bass. No need to turn them all the way up during music or movies. It is a well balanced system.

This is a fantastic soundbar. I have a large room and it still sounds good throughout the entire house. During explosion scenes the bass from the two subwoofers shake the house! Highly Recommend

Hi ntech, the system defaults to upmixing everything into 9.2 channels which may not be ideal based on the genre of music you are listening to. Use the PURE DIRECT BUTTON on the remote to set it to NATIVE, this way all the speakers on the soundbar (not just the center channel) and both subwoofers will play. I owned a Sony receiver from the early 2000's with piecemealed surrounds and sub, that system was sufficient for audio output, but it started to show it's age and didn't have any HDMI's and was all wired which was a pain anytime my kids messed with the wires, moved furniture/rooms, or houses. Amazing customer support - I've been following the 9.2 since preorders and was eagerly waiting it's release. Prior to release, I would often email support asking various hardware/logistical questions and never had to wait more than 4 hours for a thorough response directly from the owner. However the house I was upgrading to with a bigger living room fell through, and about 5 min after emailing the owner inquiring if I could cancel my preorder, he's emailed me back, completely understood and refunded me my down payment, all with in 10 min. I just recently moved to a 24x24" living room so finally had a space where this system would thrive and have been using it for about 3 months. Set-up - Box was very large and heavy, which is a good sign for audio devices. Set-up was straight forward and took about 45 min to place everything just right. The surrounds and bass speakers were larger than anticipated, much larger actually, so if you have limited space, make sure to measure your area against the listed specs. Sound - Sound is amazing. I had to troubleshoot settings using a Samsung 82MU8000, Xbox X, Directv Hopper, to all work together, but after a few emails to support, everything got worked out. When my son first watched a show with this system, he was looking all around him trying to figure out where the sound was coming from. The system does get very loud with excellent clarity. Being able to have a lot of adjustments means the treble, mids, and bass don't over power each other, The system though is not quite ear piercing at max like my old sony system was, and I have experienced as some reviews have mentioned - thundering hard hitting bass, I have not experienced that and I kind a wish it had more bass even turned up to highest setting. When the family is away, I like to jam out, I listen to EDM and hip/hop and the system doesn't quite rattle things like my previous single 10" sub did, but the 9;2 still does a great job jamming music. It'd be kinda cool to have a sub-out connection on each sub if people wanted to get super crazy and have 3 or 4 subs, maybe in a small work garage, very large living room (like mine), or small club. Negatives - As mentioned in previous reviews, the remote is the biggest weakness. It's IR so needs to be pointed directly at main sound bar, and I mean directly, I wish it was RF. Remote is also kind of slow to respond, think late 90's remote response time, 1st world problem but not something you'd expect in 2018. Since I hardly have to use the stock remote except occasionally adjusting individual channels, I wouldn't even say it's worth a 1/2 star deduction. Wishlist - A little louder subs would be nice. The loudness of these doesn't really justify the size of each box, but I admit it could just be my personal preferences though. If you've never owned a surround system or only a cheaper one (<$600), this sytem will blow you away. Sub-outs ports on the subs themselves might be a cool option to play with, probably a minimal expense to add by Nakamichi but could over a lot of upside for the purchaser. Also it would be nice to take the left and right surrounds/sub configuration and do a front and back configuration. Right now the subs should be placed on the left and right sides of room, but some people like front and back, so having this ability would be only be another extra cool feature over the competition. Overall - I priced out other comparable systems, including only build your own set-ups, used ones, ones a Costco, and for the money, you can't beat this system. No one has 9.2, let alone wireless 9.2, so it want the best of the best right now for wireless or 9.2, and will probably still be the best next few years, get this system.

    Absolutely incredible!!!

Nakamichi is for real! This 9.2 Shockwafe system is untouchable in its price range, as well as its pristine looks, and of course, the incredible sound it produces! It will absolutely batter your eardrums with bliss. I love the simplicity this system brings. It has dual wireless 10” subwoofers that each take two wired satellite speakers, and one incredible sound bar to run point on the entire system. Its details are well listed under the product information page. My living room is 20 ft length by 18 ft width by 15 ft height that opens directly (no walls) to the kitchen on the left and dining room on the right. This system fills the entire upper level of the house with crystal clear sound. Unlike most systems that pound base so much so that they degrade or smother vocals, Nakamichi is here to introduce you to a whole new world. One in which you have your thumping base, yet piercingly clear vocals to fully create an amazing experience. I used the system to watch 4k movies, listen to my CD collection, play on PS4 Pro, and enjoy 4K content on Netflix, etc. I am quite sure it will deliver all the well for Xbox One customers too. There is no division here, if you are looking for quality sound period, listen to this system. I think it holds its own in comparison to systems 3x to 4x its price, and that is an amazing bonus. I know most Best Buys do not have it in their Magnolia section yet, but when they do, you will quickly see why the other systems in its category are in serious trouble! I absolutely love this system (9.2 Shockwafe) and I give it my highest recommendations if you are looking to fill a very large room with acoustic bliss.

I cant remember how I came across the 9.2 Nakamichi. But my attention was grabbed by all the positive feedback I was reading. I was in the market for a GOOD speaker system that had little to no compromises. I've always been of the bigger-is-better mentality. I needed a speaker system that gave me quality sound that matched the superior visual fidelity of my LG OLED tv. I can say these two are a match in heaven. Initially I was a little worried because the sound was low and didn't sound like $1000. Then once I read up on everything the company offered, I finally got my settings right and made sure to saver them. Now when I watch movies like Infinity War or play games like Overwatch or Shadow of the tomb raider, I have true surround sound with excellent punchy bass. My gameplay is actually improved too because I can for the first time... hear footsteps BEHIND me. I can go over every little detail and give the plusses and minuses but in the end, this system deserves its five stars
