Easy to use, safe and secure baby monitor.

As a mom of a couple kiddos I have tried my fair share of baby monitors. I must admit I am a fan of this one, here is why: Pros: -I felt safe using this monitor, I know there have been crazy stories of people hacking monitors the Nanit comes with enterprise-level security and AES 256-bit symmetric-key encryption this is the same standards used by hospitals. -Easy to set up, I did it all by myself with just following the simple instructions. -I know exactly what is going on in by baby’s room right from my phone, no additional monitor to keep track of. The Nanit will link to your smart phone through their app, The Nanit will provide updates as to the current Temperature and humidity in my baby’s room. It is a bonus to have the humidity being monitored when the humidifier is going in the room. The unit also has a soft-glow nightlight that can also be turned off if so desired. The Nanit monitor also tracks sound and motion to let me know what my little one is up to. -The Naint is compatible with both the iphone and Android devices. This is super helpful since my husband and I are with two different services and carriers. -The monitor is placed above the baby’s bed to give you a bird’s eye view. It has a zoom feature and night vision capability. My husband and I as well as grandparents use the multiple account log in, so we can all check in on the baby. -The Nanit will work over Wi-Fi, even when internet is down it uses local and cloud streaming. -With purchase of the Nanit it comes with a free one-month trial of Nanit Insights. The Nanit Insights will not only give you updates on baby’s sleep habits, but parental habits as well. It will then give you tips and tricks to help improve babies sleep. I also enjoyed reading in the morning how my baby did the previous night. You can also trend the data and look at the overall picture or age-based comparisons. Cons: -After the free one-month trial of Nanit insights the trial expires, it becomes a monthly payment for the insights app of $10. The app itself that you link to your camera/monitor is free if you want the added features it is what the additional cost is for. -The camera does not have a very good tilt/movement feature to see around the room, you are limited to just what you see over the crib. Overall this is a great product.

My daughter just opened it and connected it and it won't turn on. They tried calling customer service and they were closed. So my receipt from best buy says no refundable. Since I bought it early on sale and gave it to them for Xmas. Nursery was done and they just opened box and tried it. So now waiting till Monday to call them and see what's wrong.

High quality baby monitor and sleep tracker

The Nanit Plus baby monitor features many useful options to help monitor and track the quality of your baby’s sleep and might recommend the monthly subscription although it's not necessary. The Nanit Plus was easy and relatively fast to set up; should only take the average person about 10-15 minutes. It comes with a long USB cord to supply it power and plugs into an included wall AC adapter. You will need to download the Nanit app and create a Nanit account with user name and password in order to complete set up. The app will take you through the steps to finish the installation of your Nanit camera to your WiFi network. The on-screen color coded boxes and shapes help position the camera near the crib correctly. Once it's set up, the Nanit app will send a notification to your phone when it hears noise. It will also record video of movement and send it to their cloud for viewing. Depending on your network and phone, there might be a longer delay from having to open the app and wait for the camera feed to load, like any wifi camera device. The Nanit has a beautiful picture, probably the best I have seen from a baby monitor however that may be due to the phone you are using as well. It also has a temperature and humidity display. One of the main things that will set this device apart from other baby monitors is that it also does a great job of tracking your baby's sleep if you opt for the monthly subscription...think a high end step tracker but for your baby's sleep. The Nanit will track your baby’s sleep habits for you, and it does a good job recording most things. If you put your baby into the crib before the baby is asleep, the app will track how long it took before the baby falls asleep and will track how long the baby slept. To go even further, it will track how many times a parent went in to check on the baby as long as they're in the camera’s view. But wait, there's more! The Nanit app will show you a heat map of where your baby slept each night. After compiling all the data that the camera and app can track it will give you a rating on how well your baby is sleeping... I believe this is a much better option that some of the competition that uses other devices, such as a sock or pad, to track your baby's movement as it is not as invasive. I was really impressed by the amount of features the Nanit has. Although the price may seem much higher than other baby monitors that don't do a fraction of what this one is capable of doing, I would consider it an investment on the most important thing in your life, your own children. I would recommend opting for the month subscription to unlock all of it's potential and understand that you'll probably only use it for the first year or so until they are old enough not to worry about monitoring everything.

Easy to use, well built and I love the sleep tracker. The unit is well constructed and the including mounting hardware and concealment covers are great addition to make tidy install. The sleep tracker and video quality are off the chart. The ability to get real time data on sleep patterns, temperature and humidity are all pluses in our book. Great addition to monitoring our babies!

    Great Baby Monitor

As soon as I opened the box, I knew that I had to ask the father of my kids to install this . Too complicated for me to do since you have to have the app too & sync and everything..however once it was all set up above my son's crib ..I instantly loved it! and still do. I like the design of it and the night vision (no need to have a night light on in order to see what your baby is up to at night) which is great! Another of my favorite things is that it records snippets of video through the night for you . that you can go back & review. I love that! What mom wouldn't love that? The only thing I've had a little problem with is the amount of battery it uses on my cell to be able to watch my baby. it drains it so be sure to plug your cell phone at night . Other than that I love Nanit Plus ! the picture is great too . You can also talk to your baby . This has worked great for us since when my boy wakes up, he starts moving around so I can calm him down with my voice while I'm walking to his nursery before he starts crying & wakes up everyone else :) so this is really helpful for us since we have a preschooler in the next room that needs his rest! I Highly recommend it ! The price is a little more than other baby monitors but you get sooo much more for this one! There are features that I probably still don't know about but it's already my favorite baby gadget

    Hi-tech Baby Monitor

The Nanit Plus is quite possibly the most advanced baby monitor I've ever used. Nothing I've used even comes close to the features and functionality of the Nanit Plus. We've used everything from old school audio only, walkie talkie style monitors, video baby monitors, and even gave a wireless security camera a shot. All fall way short of the Nanit Plus. What's in the box: In the box you get the Nanit, a wall mount, a very long cord, and plenty of cord covers that stick to the wall. I use the Nanit in the center of a 10x10 room and had plenty of cord covers. The setup: The setup is very simple. The app walks you through everything from hanging the Nanit to the wall, how to apply the cord covers, and how to sync the Nanit with the internet. The whole process takes less than 30 minutes and each step is easy to follow within the app. Use: Using the Nanit is very straight forward. The smartphone app is easy to use and very well polished. I think this might be one of the best things about the Nanit, the app has so much functionality. The home screen opens with a video feed of all of the Nanits you have connected. You can rotate the image to any orientation you prefer and can make the image full screen with one click. The video stream looks more clear than any wireless baby monitor I've seen. The app also has a feature to allow background audio so that you can listen to baby without leaving your phone screen on. The app also has an activity tab which shows a summary of the previous nights sleep events, I.e. each time baby woke or fell asleep. The dashboard tab summarizes the amount of time baby slept, sleep efficiency, sleep onset, number of visits, a movement summary in short clips, and a movement map that shows if your baby stays in the same place all night. The Nanit also features a night light and white noise/nature sounds but, I haven't used either often since we don't use nightlights and the speaker on the Nanit isn't as good as a dedicated white noise machine. The Nanit also allows you to talk back which sounds pretty close to your real voice. It doesn't sound distorted like some wireless cameras. Complaints: - the majority of the Nanit features, Dashboard functions and insights (night summary) require a monthly fee of at least $5. While this isn't a crazy amount, it is a bummer that the majority of what makes the Nanit so great requires extra cost in addition to an already expensive baby monitor. - I wish there was a dedicated monitor available for purchase. While the app works great, it does tend to drain battery on my smartphone if I leave background audio on. A dedicated screen would help a lot. Overall this is a great product and if you can live with your phone being the primary receiver for your monitor, this is a solid option.

    Such a great monitor

I received this monitor for free in exchange for my honest review. I was nervous about not having a separate parent monitor (the Nanit links to your smart phone!), but it really isn't a big deal at all. I always have my phone close by and there is a setting available so you can hear the sound and run other apps, or have your screen asleep. I've even put my ringer on vibrate/silent and the monitor sounds still come through. The app is easy to navigate and I like that I can look back and see how past nights have been (helpful for well child check ups at the doctor and/or tips for babysitters). Nanit Insights sends you a weekly email summarizing your babies sleep patterns for that week and give you tips to improve. Both parents (plus more, grandparents/babysitters etc.) can download the app and "link" to your monitor (with your permission of course) a benefit I hadn't thought of. I also like that the Nanit has temperature AND humidity. Most monitors have room temp, however the monitor we were using before the Nanit was not accurate and could not be trusted. Humidity is something I hadn't thought of until our first child was sick (usual winter cough/cold stuff) I put a humidifier in her room but had no idea what the relative humidity was. The installation instructions are very helpful and clear. I appreciated the fact that it came with a paper tape measure (it even had a spot for your foot to hold the tape measure on the floor and a pre-marked arrow for where your monitor should be installed). I also really love that the Nanit comes with cord covers. We have been using this monitor for a little over a week now. I haven't had any issues with connection being lost or cutting in and out. (our baby's room is on a separate floor than our master). One down side that I have noticed is that sometimes the monitor counts multiple "visits" when it should only be one. My guess is that this happens when I am in her room (trying to soothe her back to sleep) and don't move for a few minutes and then move. The monitor sometimes counts that as 2 (or more, if I'm in there a while) visits. Not a huge deal. You are able to go back (in the morning) and edit the number of visits (this will make the Nanit Insights summary more accurate to your baby). Overall, the Nanit plus is a great monitor!

As a mom of 3 I have had a "few" baby monitors and I have to say that I am very impressed with this one. The system is so easy to set up and comes with all the components you need for an easy, safe and secure installation. The app is easy and intuitive and the picture quality is so clear I can zoom in and see my babies chest rise and fall with each breath! Easy to set up on a tablet at home for a babysitter which I was slightly skeptical about as I've tended to stay away from wifi monitors. The night light is a fabulous feature as well if you need to go check on baby in the middle of the night!

The Nanit Plus is an incredibly cool, next-gen "baby monitor." I couldn't wait to let my friend try it out, who jus had a baby. After seeing it in action, this is a great way for first-time parents to rest easy. This is the baby-monitor of the future. It allows you to keep an eye on your baby via your cell phone. You can hear audio 100% of the time if you'd like, even when your phone's screen is off. It will also notify of sounds or motion from the baby or the baby's room. My favorite feature is that you can talk to your baby (or your spouse) through the two-way audio. While seasoned parents might find this to be major overkill, first-time parents will welcome this level of security and peace-of-mind.

I've been using the Nanit Plus for about a month now, and have had a great experience. I like that the camera is mounted above your child, so that you get a full view of the entire crib. The setup time was about 5-10 minutes, and my husband did the drilling/wall mounting, and I did the camera setup. I have only used it mounted, but purchased the stand to use when we travel. Night vision is very clear, and the zoom feature is easy to use. The night light offers a low dim that is good for changing diapers, or locating something in a dark room without bothering the baby. I use the sound machine every night, and like that I can turn it on with my phone, usually while nursing to help get the bedtime routine started. This is the first camera I have used that doesn't have its own viewing monitor, and I love that it can be viewed/controlled by my phone! I seemed to always misplace the old viewing monitor, and every time I needed it, the battery would be dead. Also like the benefit of having more than just my phone as the viewer, since we have it on my husbands as well. The Insights is a cool way to track your child's sleeping patterns. This would have been a great service to use when my child was younger, and sleep training felt like it was never going to end. They send encouraging tips and try to be positive about teaching your child to sleep on their own. The service does come with a free month trial, but then is about $10 a month after (although I have seen several specials!). I would recommend this camera to any parent, and the Insights to any NEW parent. The information that Insights gives would be especially helpful when trying to understand your child's sleep habits and trying to help them to sleep for longer stretches. I am knocking 1 star off since this camera is not just a one and done purchase. You would need to purchase the Insights service if you wanted to, which adds on to the price.

Great Monitor For Parents Of All Stages

    Posted .

I received this monitor for free in exchange for my honest review. This monitor hooks up to an app on your phone. At first, this made me nervous, but after using it I really enjoy having the easy access to it and using it when I’m out and about and not at home. The picture quality is amazing. You can hear everything. And the Nanit app comes with a one month free trial to the insights part which is super awesome for anxious Mama’s like myself. The only downside I don’t like is that there isn’t an actual parent unit to have and you always have to use the app on your phone. I wish there was a way to incorporate a parent unit in conjunction with the app. I feel like a parent unit at home is definitely sufficient and when you need the app, you can have access to that as well on your phone. Overall though, this monitor is worth it. It’s great for babies, toddlers, kids, whoever. All Stages! Excellent picture. Great that there is two way talking on it. Easy set up. And the app with the insights is pretty awesome. I would definitely recommend this to all my mom and dad friends.

Great Video quality – love the birds eye view, can see baby much clearer than old monitor. I can have audio on even when using other apps on my phone. I love not having to carry around a parent monitor (can do all monitoring from my phone) but then there is no monitor for the babysitter. I like the cord covers, just wish the cord itself wasn’t so long. Our outlet is behind the crib and so there is a ton of extra cord that is left at the end. You can take photos right from the app and photos of a sleeping baby are always so cute! The thing I dislike most about this camera is that “Insights” is not included and for the price of this monitor I fee like it should be. Yes, there is a 30-day free trial but you have to put in your credit card info to get the free trial and then if you forget to cancel before the 30 days are up, you will automatically get charged. A lot of the things that make this monitor worth the extra money is in the features you only get with Insights, so I was very disappointed when I realized they weren’t included. But all the necessary features are included with the cost of the monitor.

This monitor is so cool! The setup is easier than I imagined even with installing to the wall. They give you everything you need aside from a drill for the three quick holes. From there, the app is very user friendly and the picture quality is amazing! We tried the additional insights and so far love them. I think it will be worth it to order for longer once the trial ends because we love the recaps in the morning of the night. It's kinda like a fitbit for babies. We travel often to grandparents and added on the travel stand which has made this camera even more versatile. Overall, we are very happy and would recommend others to purchase for new parents.

    Great Camera

The Nanit plus with Nanit insights is a great camera. Installing the camera was fairly easy. I drilled 3 holes in the wall, screwed with the screws, the leveler is already attached and then just hung it up. The cover for the wire has the tape and you just stick it on. It was very simple. This smart baby monitor is perfect for newborns and infants. I didn’t realize how frequently I was attending to my baby in the middle of the night. It kind of just becomes a habit and you accept it but this was eye opening. The Nanit plus is installed over the crib, bassinet, playpen wherever your child sleeps permanently. It monitors when the baby falls asleep, when the baby wakes up and when you go to the crib to care for the baby. You get a night summary of how long your baby was in bed, how long they actually slept and the amount of times you visited their bed. It also records those moments. In the dashboard you get a breakdown of the sleep efficiency and how well your baby slept. So Nanit helped me realize that while my baby sleeps, I don’t because I’m getting up frequently. It also realized that I was getting up to give her her pacifier and it gave tips on self soothing. Some other great features are that you can speak through the monitor and hear as well. You get alerts whenever there is movement or sound. So if you have a smart watch you don’t even need to have your phone on you to know that your baby is awake. Nanit tells you the temperature and humidity in the room. You can also play sounds (white noise, birds, waves, wind) Some cons Limited movement of the camera. It’s over the crib so it’s really perfect for when they are a baby and they stay in their crib. However, when they get older and you want to watch them in their bed and then if they get out you cant really control it from your phone to move it around the room. Overall this is a great product.

This monitor is excellent! My husband and I spent a lot of time looking at various monitors and settled on this one as he will be out of town quite a bit and this will allow him to check in on our little one. It was very simple to set up, looks great in the nursery and has a great app that tracks just about everything. We were wary of the kind of picture a wifi camera/app would have but as you can see the picture is crystal clear. The sound detection is so sensitive that we can hear the noises from the street outside the baby room window! The app is very cool and can run background audio on your phone while you use other apps. It also tracks sleep patterns. We grabbed some of the breathing wear as well and feel very happy with how well we can monitor our baby!

    Great Picture and Sound Quality

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The picture and audio quality on this camera is by far the best I've seen out there! It picks up the faintest movements and sounds (you can adjust the sensitivity to both) and will alert you whenever it picks up something, which gives a paranoid Mom, like myself, some assurance. I was constantly staring at my old monitor for sound or movement. With the Nanit, you can feel at ease that it will alert you if needed! You can't put a price tag on having peace of mind when your baby sleeps! Other pros : -Another big pro is being able to use this with your mobile device, and you can check it wherever, whenever. -The nightlight is great for night changes, as it's not too harsh and bright. Cons: -The mobile app has a lot of extra features called insights (like tracking your baby's sleeping patterns, etc.) that you can't use unless you have 1) The floor stand, which you have to purchase separately 2) The monlthy/yearly subscription service which I believe is something like $300, which is way out of most budgets in my opinion.

Installing this monitor was easy and I was able to adjust the camera once it was mounted. The package comes with cord protectors that peel and adhere to the wall so baby doesn’t play with it as they grow. Since using it, I have been able to log and create a better sleep schedule for my little one. The Nanit app is so easy to navigate and alerts me for motion(within reason), sounds, and when I am tending to my baby by taking her in or out of her crib. I don’t get motion detection is my baby is tossing or turning but I will if she wakes up and is alert. I would highly recommend for expecting or new parents.
