I was excited to receive this as i liked the philips hue tv sync setup, but 600$ seemed a bit steep for aome cool lighting. When i hooked thisnup, i followed all the instructions and updated the firmware to the latest version, but this just refused to work properly. I have a 75” tv in the basement and the camera when placed where it was supposed to, couldnt see the corners of my tv correctly, so thats going to cause issues. The camera also kept picking up a reddish hue in the bottom left corner of the TV, even when the screen was solid white. Needless to say, i returned this product. The pictures show what was on on the tv screen vs what the camera was seeing.

I love them, they’re just not perfect. It works like half the time. Doesn’t always pick up the right color. But mostly good.

I walked into the store determined to get the Philips Hue, and ended up with the NanoLeaf instead. The price difference is the main reason, but once installed i sure was impressed. The only caveat is that you need to position a camera to look at the tv, unlike mentioned Hue which gets the information from a rather expensive HDMI box. The light effect sure exceeded my expectations. My TV hangs on the wall with very little space between the tv and the wall. The light strip fits, and it's mostly the 90 degree corners that need the most depth. The initial setup was confusing until I realized that I simply had to give it time to run thru the initial setup. Once that's done, you can connect to the phone App to configure. This is necessary to tell the controller which portion of the strip aligns with the tv corners. With that done, you can pick the mode and for me the so-called 4D is the best option as it interpolates the image and drives the LEDs accordingly. This is not a strict extension of the borders, and once you realize the dynamic interpretation, it turns out to be well suited for most video content. Overall, I really like the effect from this solution and the $80 are an excellent reason to give it a try. (compared to the Hue solution that easily amounts to $500)

I love this product , it adds a great scenery to any movie, tv show etc. I had a hard time connecting the Bluetooth it kept having an error so it took about 2 hours to set up. Other then that I’m very happy, I enjoy the different settings as well 2D and 4D get used often in my home.

We got one of these for our 55" TV after one of our kids saw a product demo online (the one that showed the lights in action with a lightsaber fight scene.) The way this system creates a light show that extends what you see on the screen is pretty cool. Setup was a slight hassle (Apple Home couldn't find the new light, then the Nanoleaf app wouldn't be able to find the light, etc) but after serveral failed attempts and two hard resets, I was bale to get it connected and working with our smart home platforms (both Apple Home and Google Home.) The little camera that is required for the 4D Screen Mirror function can be mounted above with the included arm, but it is kind of distracting so we opted to put the camera below the screen on top of the entertainment center. Calibration is a snap and we had the Screen Mirror function up and running in no time. We haven't decided if we like the Screen Mirroring or just plain ambient plights while watching movies, but overall this is a neat gadget and I'd suggest others try one.

Lights are great, but there are definitely some quirks. Like other Nanoleaf products it struggles to reproduce purples. Initial setup is terrible. After setup things smooth out. Calibration is quirky and only works if you invest the time to really get it in the right spot. Doesn’t sync to other Nanoleaf bulbs or strips and they do not offer any individually addressed strips to work in conjunction. You can sync up their more expensive models of designed lights though, just not strips and bulbs. Tracking is slightly delayed but honestly isn’t the worst. There are plenty of times where things do not quite line up when watching things with massive amounts of color. (Anime’s, kids movies) reflections will realllllly mess with the setup/calibration also. Overall the lights are cool, but a bit still lag behind in comparison to the HDMI boxes and tv applications. Not syncing with bulbs/strips is really the downfall of this set though.

These lights completely transform how my games look and feel. Now that they are installed I love them but man, the adhesive tape is one of the worst designed things I have ever used in my entire life. These are literally super glued to my monitor as it is the only way they would stay on.

Overall, great for setting the atmosphere. Followed installation and made sure to clean the surface with rubbing alcohol. However, adhesive was not at all strong enough to support the weight of the LED strip. Tried contacting Nanoleaf to see if the warranty would allow me to receive a replacement as I thought it may have been faulty. Unfortunately, warranty does not cover the adhesive strip as they stated “ I'm afraid we may not be able to do that cause we don't have 3M adhesive tapes for retail or replacement cause these 3M adhesive tapes are third party product.” Only keeping the product as I had to make alteration in order to adhere to my tv that refrains me from returning.

Decent lighting, cheapest 3M tape in existence tho

they work pretty well and are plenty bright and look good. The adhesive on the back of the strip is pretty useless tho, you're better off using tape to put it on. The 3M "adhesive" is basically useless and has to be the cheapest possible 3m in existence and considering these are more expensive than most it's a terrible value for what you get. The only positive of this product is the amount of light it puts out and the ease of use after it's been fully setup and calibrated. The adhesive is almost bad enough to make the product useless as it's more of a floor light after about 5 minutes cause of how quickly the strip falls off, if it was 40-60$ I could almost say it's good, but for almost double it's not good enough.

Bought this for a friend who I also bought the nanoleaf hexagons for, they work together seamlessly, he has an oversized curved monitor so it took a little more work to install, but it works perfectly for large monitors too. Wish there was software available instead of a camera that watches the screen, no concern for privacy but more or less aesthetics.

These lights work decently out of the box, and I really enjoy the presense it adds to every scene. The color matching is quick and accurate. However I cannot get it to connect to the app. I’ve gone through all the troubleshooting on the Nanoleaf website, but it has not fixed anything. I do appreciate that the lights can be controlled with physical buttons on the hub, but I cannot calibrate it or take advantage of the more advanced features without the app.

I purchased this kit for my new living room tv (a Samsung Frame). I have the Philips set attached to my old tv (a Sony AH8). I think the Nanoleaf lightstrip is good, especially for the price. I've come to really like the ability to set my immersion preference between 1D, 2D, 3D, and 4D. That's something you don't get on the Philips set. The only thing I have noticed is that the lighting doesn't seem to be quite as bright as the Philips set.

The lights definitely do not work as well as advertised. The 1D and 2D options work the best, but even still the colors do not mirror what is on the screen most days. They are also super dim and kind of hard to see. If you switch it to vivid mode then you just get straight red lights. 3D and 4D mode are completely useless. I tried this out with Wicked and the lights never turned green ONCE which shows the camera is not picking up whats on the screen.

We’re sorry to hear the experience didn’t meet your expectations, especially with the screen mirroring and brightness. The 4D kit is designed to provide an immersive lighting experience, so if the camera isn’t picking up colors accurately or the lights seem dim, there may be calibration or setup adjustments that could help improve performance. If you’re open to it, our support team would be happy to walk you through some troubleshooting steps to get the best results—feel free to reach out via the Nanoleaf website https://support.nanoleaf.me/hc/en-us/requests/new. I have to keep reconfiguring it everytime i use it and no matter what i do, i dont get the results they advertise. I end up giving up and either not using it or i put it on a generic pattern or single color which i could do with some $12 lights off amazon…. Oh and the directions I received were next to nothing. Youtube was my guide. The instructions didnt even tell me to get an app.
