I bought these after reading all the terrible reviews about their connectivity because lets face it: i like new technology and I wanted to see how these matter over thread lights work compared to my wifi based GE Cync lights. Note: I've only had these for a couple hours now and i plan on updating this review if things change. IMPRESSIONS: They look okay i suppose, not a fan of the anglular bulb aesthetic, wouldn't use these without a lampshade thats for sure. SETUP: They setup was super simple, i screwed them in and by the time i opened my phone (or even the google home app) a message prompted me that it found a new light to setup. The whole process for three bulbs took about 7 minutes. PERFORMANCE: Their color is decent, brightness is on par with the Cync bulbs, and they are usually faster but never slower to receive commands. Also the cync bulbs would sometimes fail to switch colors but these have gotten every command without a misstep. FINAL THOUGHTS: For the price i cant complain so far, however I have not used the nano leaf app, only the Google home app to set these up. I have read that trying to update them with the nano leaf app before waiting a few hours for them to fully configure with the power left on will result in needing to reset them. I would recommend these for anyone looking for a reliability upgrade over wifi based bulbs IF you are using google (and have a nest hub/nest hub max) as your home controller.

Meh! Took a while for HomeKit to work with this light. I think the issue it has is with the app for the Nanoleaf and HomeKit working together. That is what sucks! Nanoleaf app has some really great scene option which allows the light to change every few seconds. Really cool! Since HomeKit is not working right only option is to use color which is still cool. Since disconnecting the app no issues what so ever with connection. Just fyi!

This is the best light bulb I have ever purchased. There are thousands of variations because of the many color, temperature, and brightness options, making it possible to find the perfect lighting for your room. I have this light bulb in a desk lamp in my room and I love changing it to adapt to my needs. I 100% reccomend buying this to anyone who has an iPhone, homepod, iPad, etc.

I recently bought this to pair with my Apple TV 4K that I have and it has made getting home even more enjoyable than it already was. Set up process was a little tedious and sometimes shows a “no response” but when they work THEY WORK. Coming home and having them automatically turn on when my Apple TV starts playing music always sets a calm and relaxing vibe after work.

As an overall rule they work very well, even better when you consider their cost. The color accuracy is simply not going to be as good as something like Phillips Hue. But this costs three times as much and requires a hub (which also costs money as it turns out). Having her companion app helps to dial in more exact colors. It is important to know that the brightness is substantially lower outside a specific spectrum of "white light." Do not expect to have a bright orange sunset/sunrise in your room. But once you enter a certain temperature range of white they can be quite bright.
As a side note, a very nice feature is using them in a porch light to mark your house for DoorDash deliveries when your front door is hard to find in an apartment complex. Just put a specific light color in delivery comments and switch the light to that color.

I own a few smart plugs to control lights and decided to try smart bulbs. I liked the idea of controlling the color and dimming. These bulbs are Matter-based and also work with HomeKit. I ran into two main issues.
1) When you link the Nanoleaf App to Apple's Home app, the Nanoleaf app seems to override any future changes you make in Home. For example, if you rename a bulb in Home and then open Nanoleaf, it changes it back. But you need the Nanoleaf app for firmware updates. Frustrating.
2) The bigger issue is that sometimes the bulbs fail to work with any HomeKit automation. I will ask Siri to run a Scene that should turn all three lights on, and one won't come on. I can ask Siri to change the brightness on that bulb that didn't turn on, and it will work. Or I can go into the Home app and adjust the light. The bulbs work about 80% of the time. But nothing is more frustrating than coming home at night to find a dark room because the bulb didn't respond to the automation. And it's not limited to just one bulb. All three end up failing to respond at some point during the week.
I recommend using regular bulbs and a Matter-enabled smart plug, such as Eve Home. You won't have the dimming or colors, but you will have a solid on/off function.

Thank you for this feedback and we appreciate all the details here. We're always working to improve everything from the technical and the user experience perspective, including things like the app, so those things are only going to get better over time. As for Matter, that's partially still a mystery in the hands of the big players, but for our part we're going to make sure again that everyone has the best experience possible. As Matter and Thread continue to grow though that experience too is going to get better and better. Being early adopters of new technology is always tricky at first, but the only way to go is up and we're going to make sure we try our best to get things working better.

Really easy to set up and pretty bright, but they don’t sync up most times. I have four of them linked together, but whenever o change the color, one or two of them almost always don’t change to the right color. I’ll have three go to orange and one either go to a shade different or a completely different color. This almost always happens and I have to play around to get all of them the same color.

Brightness, color and Bluetooth control are good. As others have said, these bulbs will not stay connected to a thread network. I have thread devices from other manufacturers and they star connected. Returning for a refund.

I liked the idea of being able to control the light color, hue, and intensity, from my phone. The issue I seem to have with it is that it will only stay connected to my phone for a couple days and then a disconnect and goes back to a default warm white, whereas the rest of my lights are daylight.

Love these lights. Easy to set up and use. I have them throughout my house and have converted my family to using them as well. I love the lights automatically coming on when I arrive home especially at night.

Even after reading the reviews and seeing the star rating I decided I’d take the chance and give it a shot. It’s a good bulb, however the biggest problem is it’s constantly non responsive. But if you have patience then I’d say give it a try.

These bulbs are great! And they work well with HomeKit, sometimes they don’t always respond, but that can be fixed with an update, over all great bulbs and a grest product!

I don’t recommend these lights. They are unreliable and difficult to set up.
My household has Alexa, Google Home, and HomeKit. I did get these bulbs to connect in all three platforms, but not easily. Alexa failed to connect twice, Google once and HomeKit connected without issue.
These bulbs ran great on HomeKit. But as soon as they are connected to more than one platform at a time they struggle. I bought them to specifically connect to all three of my household assistants. HomeKit for phone and Apple Watch controls, Google for voice controls, and Alexa to accommodate my wife’s preferences
I am not impressed. The reliability is not there. They would say “unable to connect” every few times a command was given or in app control was attempted.

Nano bulbs are consistently better in quality, reliability, and color than Hue. I used Hue for about 7-8 years and had consistent issues with connectivity. I noticed somw reviews about the connectivity with Nanoleaf. You have to ensure you have two separate bands for your internet. A 2.5 gHz and 5.0 gHz. When they are split they will teather to the correct band and maintain reliability. I have them on the front and back yard with daily automations that never fail. I recommend this company and product!

I use homekit, so the set up is so easy. Have had others for several years and never had issues. With thread, their response has gotten much faster, although their response time before wasnt that slow anyways

Works well most of the time. Sometime unresponsive and gives the wrong colors. Frustrating when it happens at night.

Work great with my HomeKit! Love the way they look in above head lamps. Easy to control using Home app, Nanoleaf app, and Siri. Extremely responsive. Definitely will be buying more from Nanoleaf in the near future.

I read the other negative reviews, and thought - hey, I'm tech savvy, this is probably just people who don't understand tech. I bought three boxes (nine) of these.
I spent two days trying to pair these with my Amazon Echo Thread/Matter network before I finally got them working. The Android app didn't work at all, I was only able to pair them using iOS (iPad) and then each bulb required upwards of four attempts ONLY AFTER a long firmware upgrade. I have another Thread network; I was unable to pair any of them with that. Now, three days later - only one of nine is still paired with the Echo.
The bulbs, when they worked, had great color.
My guess is that Nanoleaf tried to get these out to market to be "first" with Matter-enabled bulbs, and neglected to get their firmware (in the bulbs) and software (apps) figured out.
